Seeing the letters manifest, Sariel immediately begins to channel positive energy, even as he feels the letters wearing a way on his soul.

Having shimmied back down the rope, Sariel turns to the last unopened portcullis. Breathing a sigh, he asks, "Any ideas how to open this?"

Nodding, Sariel breaths a quick prayer over the wardens corpse. Gathering the keys and the metal badge he adds, as he lifts the badge. "We should return this to his wife's ghost"

Having found what they were looking for, Sariel turns to leave the torture chamber.

Heading back the way they came, he ascends, going to the room where they'd found the warden's wife. Entering the room, he holds up the badge, he simply says, "We've found this."

Having aided in the dispatching of the crawling hands, Sariel moves the twisted skeleton. Frowning as he searches the skeleton, knowing that whoever this had been they died very slowly.

Searching the tattered uniform for the warden's badge, or anything helpful. I figure it's a long shot, but we're here so why not.

Having no desire to actually go further into the torture chamber, Sariel, realizing the twisted skeleton may be the warden, acknowledges he has no choice. Cautiously moving into the room towards the corpse, intent to see if it may be the warden, and if so, still has the keys.

Moving slow, taking 10 on perception, both the room and the corpse (if he gets that far.)

Sighing, Sariel realizes they've found neither the wardens badge or the hammer he carried. Raising an eyebrow at Sorsul's comment, he pauses, "Thank you for your vote of confidence, Sorsul, I'm not sure I would have taken on this challenge without the help from yours and Lady Shae's support."

Looking over the items he shakes his head, he had no experience with the weapons or the instrument. When his eyes fell on the collection of Holy Symbols he notices a silver 'spiraling comet,' lifting the collection he turns towards Lady Shae, "With your permission Lady, I will hold onto the collection of holy symbols."

As the other items are collected, he asks, "Shall we return to the lower levels?"

Not finding anything he believes will help them in defeating the ghosts, Sariel shakes his head. Looking towards the ladies he asks, "Shall we return to the basement or search harder?"

Did we search the property room? It feels like there was something locked within, but I can't find the posts. And the search engine doesn't bring up anything relevant.

Not surprised that the safe did not hold the warden's page, Sariel sighs, "There is still the locked door down the hall in the south-east corner." As he passes the two 'cure' potions and one of each of the other two to Sorsul, he gestures back the way they came. "Shall we see if one of these keys opens its door?"

Not sure what to do with the coins, he removes his pack and places them inside, then turns and heads down the hall, intent on testing the keys on the last door.

Sorsul, the CMW potions won't help Sariel, you may as well carry them

Aiding Sorsul with the rope and keeping watch as she descends and retrieves the items, Sariel, seeing the keys asks, "Shall we see if any of these keys open the safe?"

Without waiting for either of the ladies to answer, he begins to move back towards the upper floor to see if he can open the safe.

Not sure if he will be interrupted or not, but the intent is to try the keys.

Hey Sorsul, Sariel has a 'sorcerers' kit, which not include a rope, but your fighters kit has one, unless you took it out for weight, or aren't carrying it?

As the spirit dissipates, Sariel breaths a sigh of relief. Glancing down into the pit he sees a couple items and the gleam of what seems to be keys. Turning towards the ladies, he asks, "It may be that we've found what we are looking for, should we descend?" Frowning he adds, "I did not bring a rope."

Relieved that Sorsul was able to avoid the ghost attack, Sariel determins that his powers from Pharasma does more damage to the undead than his innate ability to injur it. Calling on his diety, he channels positive energy, hoping to bring down the ghost. Asking his friend, "Lady Shae can you blast it again?"

Realizing his wound was still bleeding, and to make matters worse his blood was healing the axe wielding undead, Sariel, using some of his innate magic heals the wound. Realizing Sorsul was not retreating, and he was not as efficient at healing as the candy maker, Sariel calls back behind them, "Lady Shae, we can use your aid."

Just some fluff, figured it would be best to ask in game. Sariel can heal himself, or Sorsul, but he can't do both. Sadly positive energy attacking the ghost doesn't benefit the living.

Realizing he and Sorsul were badly wounded, Sariel frowns, asking his friend. "Should we retreat back to Lady Shae so she can heal you?"

Waiting and watching to see if the portcullis did in fact drop, Sariel admits, "I hope not, but we will wait here to raise it again."

Relieved the portcullis is still in place, Sariel turns to 'Lady Shae' asking, "M'lady, please wait here, if the portcullis drops you would be able to open it." With a nod he follows Sorsul into the large empty room.

Seeing the thick rope he sighs, "It looks like we may eventually be descending." Nodding back the way they came he asks, Sorsul "Should we make sure the keys are not on this level before we descend?" He frowns slightly, "And can we pull that rope up and shut the gate to make sure nothing ascends behind us while we finish our search?"

Breathing a sigh, he moves into the room the skeleton had occupied and quickly searches it for keys or anything else helpful.

Confused by the post, the twenty will hit depending on the miss chance, did the thing hit Sariel? Also, would the ghost strike 'bone rattle' work on the undead?

Stepping back from the flailing creature, Sariel uses his ability to manipulate undeath and attacks the creature.

Seeing the mundane and magical items Sariel nods his head. Picking up one of the heavy crossbows, he tucks a few bolts into his belt. "We should take the magical items and whatever we can use."

Once everyone had loaded up, he nods back the way they came. "Let's check the northern hallway before we open the Portcullis."

Returning to the larger room he takes the hall north to the western door. Pausing to investigate the door, crossbow in hand, he eventually attempts to open the door.

I'm assuming we pick up the wand, potions and rope. He will take 10(15) on perception at the door.

Finding the winch intact, Sariel returns to the southern room to see how the progress on the locked door is going. Gesturing back the way they came he tells Sorsul. "I found a winch, I believe it is for the western portcullis."

He gestures back the way they'd come, "Once we're done here, I'd like to check the northern hall before we open any of the portcullis, just to make sure nothing untoward can sneak up on us."

Happy to wait for the acid to work

Breathing a sigh as the skulls 'Shatter' Sariel turns and gives Sorsul a half-hearted smile. He moves into the room, inspecting the corpse and gathering the hammer, looking at it quickly to see if it was the 'gift' they were sent after. As he hands the hammer to the ladies for inspection he gestures towards the room, "Seems to be the guards room, Maybe we'll find keys in here?" Turning he begins to search the room for anything of potential aid.

Shaking his head he turns back to the great room and moves to the western facing hallway. Arriving at another portcullis, he opens the door facing south.

Sorry if this moves to fast and I need to retcon, I'm assuming the portcullis doesn't give under his attempt to turn it, if for no other reason than because he's not very strong.

As they move into the large empty chamber Sariel realizes the skeletons are beginning to rouse. Calling on Pharasma's blessing, he channels positive energy, excluding himself, to deal with the undead.

Moving clockwise, he enters the southern hallway, and inspects the door on the eastern wall, eventually attempting to open it.

Not confident in the need to search the rest of the cells, Sariel sighs and turns back towards the stairs. As they descend the steps he asks, "Wasn't there a big pit in the big first room we found?"

If uninterrupted he heads back to the large partially flooded room, and inspects the hole in the ground.

Shaking his head at Sorsul's recommendation, Confessing, "Sadly the Ladies candy carries positive energy, because of my genetic nature, I require negative energy to heal. Fortunately I am able to do that myself."

As he looks toward the 'Currently' locked cells, he asks, "Shall we risk moving forwards? I can channel, but it would be better if we could effect all of them at once."

Pausing, he gestures towards the healed 'bites' "Did either of you see a a ghostly figure accompanied by a flock of stirges? That is what attacked me." He scratches his head, "I believe and apparition could do such damage, but it felt real."

Gathering his thoughts, "It would be beneficial if it was this apparition that was opening the locked doors or some other source."

Sorsul, any thoughts here on what we should do?
