Liberty's Edge

Sadly I rarely read any missives from Major Colson anymore, although I did see him in Absalom very recently. He passes on his best wishes to all those Andoran souls amongst us.

Liberty's Edge

Greetings fellow brothers and sisters of Andoran,

My name is Samuel Revell, I am originally from Galt and now 'ply my trade' as a Pathfinder in the Pathfinder Society.

Recently I received a Missive from Major Colson Maldris, a man all of you should know and may of indeed met at points in the past. Whilst I spend little time in my adopted home, I was surprised to learn that elements of corruption and nepotism now fester within the wings of liberty.

One thing that has always separated my place of birth to my adopted homeland was that one stumbled from crisis to crisis of its own making to a country which was able to deal with any crisis through the strength of its people. I have learned that some people in Andoran thing that the right to lead is their right alone and not to be shared or passed on.

Indeed some people in power now bring their fellow family in on the deal, creating worthless positions and titles.

I did not leave Galt to end up in Taldor. We must stop this notion of entitlement here and now before things deteriorate. Do not doubt that Cheliax smiles at our corruption and that there are those who would see us fall.

This is perhaps my longest ever letter and it will be my last, for I do not see a need to ever repeat what I have said here.

Servant to the Eagle,

Knight Captain,
Samuel Revell

The best defense against the foul spawn is to kill them before they kill you. I recommend shooting at the same location repeatedly until they dissolve into a fine mist of .. whatever they are made of. Bearington, my Musket has himself slain many a foul Shadow Demon. If you need some pointers, do not hestitate to contact me.

For the most part, the Silver Crusade are very accommodating and it often seems as if their goals and ours line up every time. I agree with Jaleel that the other times however, they can be very obstinate. I am more concerned that the Crusade wish to turn the Society into their namesake.. a crusader with no end.

Liberty's Edge

The Silver Crusade are a loose grouping of like minded priests and Holy Warriors of the Good Gods and seek to influence the Society to extremes of virtue.

Liberty's Edge

'Sooner or later the Demons will find Devils to clash with.'

Liberty's Edge

Raven: You describe my homeland of Galt. The mob perch upon the false ledge of Liberty never known they simply court Chaos.

Liberty's Edge

Then perhaps you have never accepted who it is you are 'fighting' for Corvus. When I joined the Society I was approached by Major Colson who knew of my background in Galt and was familiar with my ideals. He approached me and told me about the work Andoran was doing whilst at the same time aiding the Society. His Goals (and thus the goals of the People's council) have for the most part coincided with mine. Sometimes they have not.

I have never forgotten though that I am aiding the country of Andoran in this. I hope to one day return to Galt and use what I have learned to bring a level of stability to the rampant Chaos there.

Perhaps you would be better off working for the Grandlodge, then perhaps your ideals will not be conflicted by having to work for Andoran.

Liberty's Edge

Jaleel : If asked I would consider taking on the position. Whilst I am not Andoran, I fully believe in the right of individual freedom for all. I am a seasoned pathfinder who has seen action in Irrisen, Varisia, Geb and other locales. Whilst I am from Galt, I feel I share the same ideals as any Andoran and is my desire that one day Galt finds it's centre and the stability that Andoran shows can exist.

It would be an honor to be the liaison between the People's council and the Pathfinder society. Until Major Colson Maldris decides to step down he continues to garner my full support.

'There is no need to step aside , Sir.

'As an eagle knight myself, I understand that each and every time we are asked to do something by you, you have weighed up the consequences of asking us.'

'As for you Nesod, Cheliax still lays claim to Andoran and Taldor still lays claim to both Andoran and Cheliax. If we were not ..fiercely independent both nations would have attempted to roll over us at some point. I understand more than most being from Galt that the price of freedom to to be eternally.. fierce. '

Liberty's Edge

'To be honest Sichelgaita, the word Master is not a very commonly used word back home. In fact it is used more to accuse someone of being noble like or a noble backer. Those people do not last long as one of the many blades of final death get them.'

'Due to my years of traveling as a pathfinder I know that the Galt way is not the best way, I would hope that just because one is born in Andoran does not mean that one way is the only way.'

Liberty's Edge

"Like most people in Galt, I follow... somewhat poorly the teachings of Milani. She probably is not well known around the place but where you find revolution you will find Milani. Ive yet to find anyone devout enough to earn her graces but I am sure out there there must be at least one or two."

" I assumed we were all Eagle knights in here, my apologies. You must find it difficult serving two masters, Iomedae and the Society .. not to mention Andoran.

Liberty's Edge

"Desna? The Butterfly God?"

" I met a .. cleric of that one a while back. Crazed one too almost more cultist than Cleric. Considering I can count of one hand the amount of missions I have been on with a Cleric it somewhat shades my view of them"

"Are any of you with any particular Eagle knight command?"

Liberty's Edge

"If we need a change sir, then is up for the People's council to make that change not us. If you do not like your lot with Andoran anymore, then you have the freedom to leave at anytime."

Knight Captain Samuel Revell looks a bit irked by all the underhanded gossip and innuendo being banded about

Liberty's Edge

'My Apologies Sichelgaita. I did not mean to deprive you of any respite'

Samuel looks tense

'Do you have any tales to tell of your travels through Varisia? My mind has been there of late and I would like to hear news of its surrounds'

Liberty's Edge

'I am not normally a religous man, Sichelgaita. But to survive the slums of Galt you have to be. Perhaps not in some pompous cleric who believes that his God can heal everything, but in something that will let you survive on the cold nights as rats gnaw at your toes.'

'My issue being is that I am always thinking. It is perhaps the price I pay for using a Musket. I am always sizing up opponents, thinking of the best spot for a shot, what the weather might do to that shot. Still in all things I am always thinking ahead'

' I have rarely traveled with holy men. A coincidence of fate perhaps? Who knows. I have a problem though. I do not know what lies in my heart. The more I kill, the less I know'

Samuel looks depressed.

Liberty's Edge

Knight Captain Samuel Revell enters the discussion.

"Hail and well met. My home country of Galt suffers under the tide of it's own making and one day I will return to find what I have known long gone.. swept away in a sea of new ideals and new problems.

'You bring up several good points Sir Roland. I too have dilemmas. Recently in a Pathfinder operation I was forced to accept the brand.. the mark of Lissala, a deity of obedience and yoke. While this may seem incredulous to others of our view, it was necessary to get the job done. Would I do it again? Every day'

'I dread the day in the future when my eagerness betrays me and I accept a gift not knowing it is indeed a curse. I sense it will be Lissala's hand in my death

Liberty's Edge

If you do not agree with what Major Colson asks you to do then , you have the freedom to refuse to do so. Freedom is not Freedom if you follow it blindly... then it takes the twisted path to servitude where you follow what a person says because that is what is expected.

We are all prone to making mistakes. Some of us fled a past best forgotten, some of us have killed to satisfy a personal vendetta. None of us are immune to hubris and the first person who tells me they are is the first liar of the day.
