Human Gunslinger (Pistolero)/2
"Where it was, not where it had to be. People who don't fight smart don't live long in my experience," Sam says to Oliver in annoyance. "Yeah, we're all in one piece more or less. This was pretty much a waste - let's get out of here and back to the camp now, all right? We can heal more readily there."
Human Gunslinger (Pistolero)/2
"Stable." Sam looks up at Oliver, obviously pissed. "All right, why the hell would all of you stay in the damn gas cloud? It was the smarter choice to bring the fight up where we weren't also getting screwed up by poison. Now we got a man down, and I sure as hell ain't carrying him all the way back - hey, Valtyra, come over here and heal him so he can pick himself up, all right?"
Human Gunslinger (Pistolero)/2
Seeing the fallen paladin, Sam curses as they slide to his side, popping open a curative potion and halfing splashing, half dumping it into the man's mouth to keep him alive. It's time to run, you jerks!" They shout at the group, getting ready to drag the heavily armored paladin out of the basement. That wasn't going to be easy... CLW Potion: 1d8 ⇒ 6
Human Gunslinger (Pistolero)/2
Aftr realizing that no one has actually followed her, Sam curses and pops her head down the stairs long enough to get a pot shot off at the creature. "Hey you frickin' jerks, run up here and get away from the miasma and that thing!" Pistol Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Human Gunslinger (Pistolero)/2
Sam arches a brow, trying to determine if these guys were trying to feed them all a load of bull or if they were genuinely just squatters. Sense Motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17 "Hey, Haroon? Did you just try some kind of passphrase with these guys? Cause if they don't know the right response, doesn't that kind of prove they ain't cultists, just cowards?"
Human Gunslinger (Pistolero)/2
Upstairs: The gunslinger regales the knight with the tale of how they managed to survive in the winding tunnels and caverns down below, the dangers encountered and trying to get along with a group full of strangers, ending with how they surfaced and came here.
"All right, now you go," Sam says, unable to stop smiling for some reason. "How did you survive? I saw you crushed in a demon's grip!
Human Gunslinger (Pistolero)/2
Upstairs: Sam doesn't really understand how this could be, or how this person was alive, or who the other squire was here. The gunslinger just gasps softly and starts to tear up, before rushing over and stumbling to the side of the bed.
"I thought I saw you die," They sob. "H-How?"
Human Gunslinger (Pistolero)/2
Sam is more than a little disheartened as they continue their trek through the ruined city - at the very least they didn't encounter anything particularly nasty. Still, the gunslinger was taking stock of their available ammunition and realizing they were down to less than ten shots remaining - they'd have to prepare some more when they had the time. Of a more pressing concern to the ex-squire is what one man had to say - the only person Sam really knew in the city had to be - a swelling of hope lurched in their chest, as they spoke rapidly. "If anyone here knows Hargas, please attend to his body - a man that rich probably has some kind of contingency against unexpected death," They state, before rushing upstairs.
Human Gunslinger (Pistolero)/2
"Or, and this is probably the best option - we don't weigh ourselves down dragging along a prisoner and give him a tiny chance," Sam comments, reloading their pistol. "In that we let him try to avoid the dire rats, demons, and anyone else that would want to murder him and get out of the city with his skin intact. His incentive being that he's unarmed with his hands tied together and with no weapons, sticking around here is a very, very poor choice." They level the pistol at the guy's head. "Or if nobody else has the stomach for it I can just put one in his skull and we can be on our merry way. Let Pharasma be his judge."
Human Gunslinger (Pistolero)/2
"Hey, elf, gone does not necessarily mean dead. So man up and let's take a moment to sift the ruins and see if there's anything left behind here that you need. Or barring that, anything we can take revenge upon." The gunslinger checks their pistol as they walk towards the great hall, peeking inside and looking for anything that needed to be shot.
Human Gunslinger (Pistolero)/2
"You got a point, Legs," Sam tells Valtrya, sighing a bit. "Okay, but, let's try and figure out first which place is closest to us - whatever that one is, we'll go and do first. Then the next, and the next, and so on so we can deal with everything as quickly as we can, all right?"
Human Gunslinger (Pistolero)/2
"My...I need to just confirm something," Sam says. "I won't take longer than an hour or so, I promise. I probably won't find anything at all, but I'd hate myself if I didn't at least look." To see if Enoch's body was there, or his shield, or any other token of his that she could use as a confirmation that he'd died and what they'd seen hadn't been a delusion but the truth. Still, just a tiny, tiny part of the equally tiny gunslinger hoped she had been seeing things, that he hadn't been slain, that the Abadarian paladin was still alive and in the city.
Human Gunslinger (Pistolero)/2
"I've got one place I want to get to," Sam comments to Haroon. "Before we go and see if we can find someone who might be able to bring Hargus back. Probably mostly with the rest of the surviving resistance...anyways, its back there," They say, pointing towards the ruined plaza where the cathedral once stood. "I guess it'll take...a couple of hours. It's just something that I have to do. If nobody else wants to go, I'll understand."
Human Gunslinger (Pistolero)/2
Sam looks out at the city carefully, before searching the horizon for their origin point - where the group fell from before. They narrow their vision, looking at Hargus' body before glancing back out in the distance. "...I'm going there," Sam announces, pointing towards the ruined plaza where the cathedral once stood. "I just...I need to see if I can find him."
Human Gunslinger (Pistolero)/2
Hearing about their fallen comrade spurs Sam into action, pushing past Haroon and Greylocke to come up in the same corridor that Ginger was fighting the dread creature. "Hey, give it one more whack then clear my shot!" They shout to her, readying the scale for its last electric arrow. Readied action to shoot the dretch once her shot is clear. Deadeye's Arrow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Human Gunslinger (Pistolero)/2
"Monsters, huh? Yeah, I knew this would happen," Sam sighs as they head to the entrance of the maze, calling out. "Hey, meatshields! You want to fall back out where you're not pinned in and draw them out in the open?" The gunslinger levels the pistol down the corridor, hoping that the others would understand the tactical importance of creating more space for the fight.
Human Gunslinger (Pistolero)/2
"Huh. Magic sword, cool." Sam states, taking an inventory of everything. "Okay, it looks like all the lower levels are cleared out, so...we can now head up. Probably a couple more cultist guards up there but nothing we can't handle," The gunslinger claims. They prepare for heading back up - nabbing the two alchemist's fire vials for good use. They had a decent throwing arm after all.
Human Gunslinger (Pistolero)/2
Sam for their part step out of range of Hosilla's weapon, leveling their firearm at the woman's head and firing with a crack. It's a solid blow, the gunslinger going automatically through the motions of reloading before even seeing if the shot was fatal or not. Pistol Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Human Gunslinger (Pistolero)/2
Sam charges her second shot, aiming for the other cultist and blasting at them with a bolt of electric energy. It's a direct hit at full power, quite the morale booster for the ex-squire. Deadeye's Arrow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Human Gunslinger (Pistolero)/2
"I need a clear shot! Haroon, use your scale!" Sam calls out to the tiefling, focusing on her own and waiting for a chance to fire through the doorway. Readied action: Shoot enemy with deadeye's arrow once line of sight is available. Scale touch attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Human Gunslinger (Pistolero)/2
"Plus, evidence and documents and useful items they've got stashed away - hey, anyone heading down first? I'm not trailblazing anymore for you guys, I've been shot too many times and fallen in one too many traps," Sam states, waiting for someone to go first ahead of them - they would be the second person down.
Human Gunslinger (Pistolero)/2
The gunslinger grabs themselves a curative potion from the defeated cultist, knocking it back before looking at the rest of the party. "All right, it's somebody else's turn to poke their head in and get shot. I'm done with that for now." CLW Potion: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Human Gunslinger (Pistolero)/2
Ah. Well, if I'd known that GM then that would have saved me a couple posts - still fun, though. And all finished with leveling up - another level of Gunslinger. Sam checks her pistol while waiting, standing up when Greylocke does and stepping up, weapon at the ready. "Finally, let's finish up this damn thing," She says, opening up the south door and getting ready to shoot any other assailants. The better gods were on their side down here.
Human Gunslinger (Pistolero)/2
"Two things - first, having one exit means having only one way out if the rest of the cultists in this place come in force, meaning they can trap us and pretty much kill us all at once easily - so this is hardly a safe place," Sam states. "Second, it won't even take half of an hour to backtrack to Neathholm, traveling with the infirm I might add. It's safer there, and we can restock on the healing potions we just burned through so quickly as well, once we trade in some of the treasure that I found nearly getting myself killed. So, is everyone so exhausted they can't make a ten minute hike back to safety? I thought that I was working with soldiers, not princesses." The gunslinger scoffs, plopping down and glaring at Haroon and Ginger in annoyance. Seeing as nobody seems to be agreeing with her about the folly of this course, they shut up for now. |
