"And there not just smaller versions of the race we met in town? I don't want to start fights, but I don't really like being followed."

"Everything seems fine to me. They must think their deity is where some of them get their abilities. We should get going, anyway."

Sorry for delay, I think I checked this and then forgot, and didn't see an update notification.

"Right, Let's get going."

Saafris' forked tongue flicks out as the woman heals him, and he's hit by another peculiar sensation - a smell he remembers from home, though many times more powerful. It reminds him of a creature from his home, a pest really, that could regenerate entire limbs in a matter of days. Most creatures from his home had some scent like that, but Saafris realized this was the first time he'd encountered it here.

"Can all of your people do that?"

Saafris is polite enough to not tell her that she smells like magic space cockroaches from his home

I am at 4/10 after all

"Not really. Definitely not how I got there, anyway." He brushes some ash from his scales, inspecting some of the more singed areas. "I think I'll be alright, I just need to rest a bit - " His stomach groans loudly. " - urgh, and eat. I hope they have food."

Saafris sighs. "Well I guess we should head there... I don't think I ever learned your name. I'm Saafris. Good work with the fire." He nods to the smaller bird creature.

Saafris is far too exhausted from dragging water around earlier to question their renaming of a compass, but does find one thing odd. "A temple for a doctor?"

I'm fine to continue.

Congratulations and merry christmas!

"Ah, I don't suppose you have a compass to spare? I don't know whether 'east' and 'west' are the same as the direction I would expect."

Similarly I have been super busy with dealing with the interviews (and now the offer letter!) for a job + normal classes. So no problem!

Saafris 'sits' next to the small chairs.

"Greetings Rothburt, my name is Saafris. I am sure it is quite a story, but unfortunately neither of us remember much of it. We woke up on a strange ship, and neither of us spoke the same language. Something happened, and now we can understand each other - and you. There were others, but they seem to have wandered off after the crash."

Saafris, desperate to cool off, is too busy drinking whatever water remains in the water buckets to talk to the native creatures.

I think so

Like so?

Sounds pretty cool, and looks like lots of people are already hitting the ground running.

I'm gonna give it a try too. How many people do you think you'll accept?

I wanted to make a modified version of the Yuan-Ti, so they have a snake-like lower half. It's a modification of a much less powerful race I already have in my homebrew world, so I just need to modify the fluff that I'll post later.

Summary: Big lamia/naga snake people that are intelligent, good grapplers, and can smell magic (scent + constant detect magic!)
I made them as hard to trip as possible to make the tail make sense. +16 vs trip total.

Spoiler:
The Lyss are a large snakelike race with an upper body of similar size as other humanoid races, but a very long strong tail in place of legs. Their larger longer shape makes them more susceptible to attacks, but allows them to strike from a distance.
They are carnivorous ambush hunters that, in times before they became civilized, constricted their prey, a racial skill that all Lyss still have regardless of profession.
Lyss height can vary depending on how tall they want to seem, but most have a resting height of 6' to 8' tall. Their tails are often more than 25' long, and Lyss can weigh hundreds of pounds.

Long ago, before the race existed, their home planet was pelted by millions of small asteroids, transforming the planet's surface into a place of steep, jagged cliffs and deep canyons. Over time, jungles grew across the planet's surface. Many of the creatures on the planet evolved in ways that helped them avoid falling to their deaths down these steep cliffs. The Lyss' snakelike body was essential to their survival in this environment, as well as making them fast enough to keep up with prey and catch prey.
Many of the creatures on the planet used various forms of minor magic to avoid predators, or catch prey. The Lyss evolved a very sensitive tongue that they can use to track creatures and even detect traces of magic in the air.

As the Lyss developed into a civilization, their innate ability to sense magic grew into a natural understanding of spells and the arcane. They value intelligence and research, and many often devote themselves to arcane and technological pursuits, while others sometimes train themselves in ancient ways to stay true to their more predatory nature.

Spoiler:
Standard Racial Traits
Ability Score Racial Traits: Lyss gain +6 Str, -4 Dex, +2 Int, +2 Wis, and +2 Cha.
Type: Lyss are Monstrous Humanoids.
Size: Lyss are Large creatures and thus take a -1 size penalty to their AC, a -1 size penalty on attack rolls, a +1 bonus to their CMB and CMD, and a -4 size penalty on Stealth checks. They take up a space that is 10 feet by 10 feet and have a reach of 5 feet.
Speed: Lyss have a base speed of 40 feet.
Languages: Lyss begin play speaking Common. Lyss with high Intelligence scores can choose any languages they want (except secret languages, such as Druidic).
Defensive Racial Traits:
Stability: Lyss receive a +4 racial bonus to their CMD when resisting bull rush or trip attempts while standing on the ground.

Feat and Skill Racial Traits
Skill Training: Knowledge (Arcana) and Spellcraft are always considered class skills for lyss.

Offensive Traits:
Slapping Tail: Slapping tail natural attack that deals 1d10+1-1/2 Str, and has a reach of 10'.

Magical Racial Traits
Constant Spell-Like Divination: Lyss can use detect magic as a constant spell-like ability (the caster level is equal to the lyss's character level).

Senses Racial Traits
Darkvision: Lyss can see in the dark up to 60 feet.
Scent: Members of this race gain the scent ability.

Other Racial Traits
Grabbing Appendages (Tail): Lyss tails are suited for grappling creatures, and allow them to hold on without needing to use their hands. Lyss gain Improved Grapple as a bonus feat, and can maintain a grapple and still make attacks with their main appendages.
Prehensile Tail: Lyss have a long, flexible tail that can be used to carry objects. They cannot wield weapons with their tails, but they can retrieve small, stowed objects carried on their persons as a swift action.
Tail (Quadruped x3): Lyss possess a long tail and two arms, granting them a +12 racial bonus to CMD against trip attempts. In addition, Lyss use weapons and armor as if they were Medium (instead of Large).

Nice that we got one back, but even 3 we might want another?

Also, got bored, made a quick doodle

How many HD do we have? I noticed Ti Ron Ku has 2, but I have 1, and I don't remember which was correct

Reflex save: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0
Reflex save: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (19) - 2 = 17
Reflex save: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (4) - 2 = 2

The large creature's bulk doesn't do him any favors as it's nearly impossible to stay out of the way of the raging fire, and he gets a few burn marks across his scales in the process of fighting the fires.

Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2

HP 4/10

:(

The snake creature starts slithering towards the town at a speedy pace. "No time to waste!"

If he can get to the town without being bothered, he will look for a barrel of water to carry over to the fire. With his size and racial strength, I think he can carry about 700 lbs, so that's probably enough for a barrel of water.

"There must be sentient life on this planet! We should investigate, but be careful. They might not like visitors looking like we do."

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

sorry can't do full post right now

Onwards to victory!

"Speaking of... do we know what this core even looks like, or how big it is?"

Questions that popped up when I was doing equipment: since I am a large creature, by RAW 1 ration weighs 4x more than a medium creature's ration, but is still only 5sp.
So one of my large rations feeds me, would it still only feed 1 medium creature?
How many medium rations would it take to feed me?
Should we standardize food so it's just 4 medium rations to feed me, and would that make my survival food gathering checks worth 4x the food?

Figured I'd get these out of the way before they popped up in gameplay.

Saafris simply grabs:

A satchel (Backpack 2g) [2#]
Cloth and straight metal pieces to fashion a tent for himself (Medium Tent 15g) [30#]
Some mesh fabric (Fishing net 4g) [5#]
A few flares (Sunrods x5 10gp) [5#]
A large blanket (.5g) [6lb]
A bunch of rations for a large creature (20 rations 10g) [80#]

He still makes a face at being injected. "Well we'll figure that out, but right now, do you have any idea where we might be able to start to find the power core?"

"Implant? I just woke up, I don't think I want to be having any surgery by someone that's not even my species!"

"There's no levers or buttons? Can we just break it down?" It slithers over to put pressure on the door with the considerable bulk of its serpentine lower half. "You, the uhh... robot... thing. Come help me, you look like you're strong."

"Do we even count as 'personnel' for reporting to wherever these key chambers are. I sure wasn't hired or trained." The snake creature peers into one of the unopened pods as it talks. "But I suppose it is the best place to find out what's going on."

Just as a question so I know how to have my character act, were we aware we were being put onto the ARK, or is it possible we're just waking up in a 100% unfamiliar environment?

The snake creature cautiously accepts the presence of the robotic construct as it turns its attention to the blaring voice over loudspeaker, and the other beings in the room.

Eventually the voice begins to change, and it hears one of the creatures speak in a way it understands.

"You! I can understand you, what's going on?"

The reptilian creature's tongue continues flicking in and out before it turns its head inquisitively towards the plant creature and its glowing spores. It starts towards the two before it is interrupted by loud bangs and metallic clattter as a robotic looking, blade covered thing starts whacking itself, and edges farther away.

"Ughh, what's doing on?" it says groggily.

Time to find out if we all speak the same language?

With a metallic clatter a long piece of metal falls off of a writhing pile of serpentine coils. From amid the pile, a forked tongue flicks in and out, its owners eyes covered as it tries to adjust to the cacophony around it.
Slowly, it starts to rise, revealing a humanoid torso connected to its long tail. It blinks, dazed, as it looks at its surroundings.

Oh Osric probably won't be ranged, because ranged rogues are so hard to make. I just had extra money for a bow, so I picked one up just in case.

Really liking how JZ is describing the campaign.

A bunch of cool entries, looks like there's going to be a ton of applications by the end of the two weeks.
