Ya, it is a bummer. I get it though. The pace had died down a lot of late, and I was as guilty as anyone for not being prompt. Hopefully you might let us know if you start up anything else...

Shale takes his own path to the site of the earthquake, preferring to both trust his own feet, and to be able to assess the area on his way in. He keeps an eye out for where the damage begins, and makes a mental note about how far out from the epicentre the destruction extends.

"Victor! Can you give us the exact location of this event's epicenter? Please relay the information and cross reference with local events calendars to identify any locations such as concerts or sporting events that may represent a concentration of endangered civilians and represent potential mass casualty clusters."

"Whipporwill; request acknowledged. I will attempt to assess the severity of ground instability and survey the area of impact in order to report on both casualties and hazards."

"Viktors information helps, but it also stands to reason that few would be foolish enough to attempt an impersonation if they could not circumvent even the first or second hurdle. I am sorry, I acknowledge that there is a degree of bias to my doubts, and that a non-testable hypothosis is neither fair nor scientific. I cannot yet think of a means by which your identity can established with certainty, but I will dedicate my efforts to identifying such a method."

"As Whipporwill has stated, we are not those heroes. They were great, and some of us follow in the Legacies of those men and women. I am not the Flash. I am both much less and far more than the prevìous Flashes. There are things they could do that I daren't dream to perform. And yet, there are things I can do that none of them would attempt."

"Please accept that I meant no offense in my words at the hearing; I feel that erring towards the side of caution is prudent in such a case. Where so much is at stake, the clear path is one of safety, where we assume you are likely an imposter until your identity is confirmed. I was genuine in my second assertion as well; if the doubt is proven unnecessary, you will have my deepest regrets, and my loyalty."

"However, until your identity is confirmed I will continue to see evidence of it in both directions. A reminder as well; until the hearing is completed, you are not officially our leader yet."

Dust off your copy of Chaucer, Shale is making a speech...

Shale approaches the bench, looking across at the assembled representatives. Standing near the man of steel, he looks a head shorter, and a mere two thirds the Kryptonian's girth. Taking a moment to gather his thoughts, he begins.

Gentlemen. Ladies. I am known here as Shale. Like Kal-El, I am an alien here, but have chosen to make this planet my home. In order to be worthy of that home, I have chosen to render service unto mankind by utilizing my skills and power through the group known as the Justice League. While I have served with the League in various roles over the past few years it has only been with the recent tragedy at the Hall of Justice, in the initial attack by the Conqueror, that I have ascended to the Team's front line.

I have had the hearing of reports by your criers that the men and women of the League were a party, or even responsible for the destruction at the Flash Museum. I can assure you that nothing could be further from sooth. There was no sign aforehand, and no conflict that lead to its destruction, but rather that conflagration was the first tell of the urgent need there was of our intervention. The explosion took its patrons unaware, as there was no preamble or indication that else was but quiescent. It is to this we must attribute the injured, as none had forewarning, and many an innocent was harmed in the fell tiding.

This ambuscade seems weighed and measured to have drawn us out. For it was carried out by someone bearing upon his visage the likeness of one known to us; himself once a member of the league. However, this likeness was not borne true, for he bore upon him an affect most grim, powers unknown to him when he was among us, and no kindness or familiarity when he turned his countenance upon me.

Upon this take my measure, that this man bore his face without sooth faith, and it shall be proven false. An impostor posing as one of the League, a prior bearer of mine own mantel so called The Flash. And lo, it is at this time that another comes forth bearing the visage of the League. Mere moments after crisis has arrived and the very dust of this tragedy has not yet settled upon the ground; before investigations can be begun or concluded, and while tensions lie at their keenest edge; when faith has reason to be challenged, that this savoir arrives. And it is upon this face we see the most trusted and stalwart member of the League; he who begat it. Superman.

"I bear no accusation in this, for sooth, I hold upon my breath hope that this is our friend and mentor, for truly all would prosper if the man of steel were to walk among us again. However, I bear as well a tale of caution, just spoken, that faces and power do not make the man. That trust in any, particularly a trust so dear as command of Earth's heroes, be awarded only with time and knowledge that faith will be upheld."

"Every member of the League knows this risk, that there are many who would wish to misuse its power, and that this has happened before. I ask only that you not act out of fear and haste, but ensure all needed assurances can be sought that it is to one to whom the faith is well placed that we gift this authority. Should my misgivings be misplaced, and this most convenient presentation of our hero be borne out at a time when our vision is most shadowed by doubt and trepidation, then I shall be the first to bend a knee, and pledge to aid him however I might, as the true heart of Kal-El has never before led us astray."

"To you, who bears the familiar aspect of our friend and hero, I would ask to put aside your call for immediacy, to give credence to thine own past, where others have tried to extort your good graces through similar falsities. Your aid, and your company, we would gladly accept until such assurances could be made. Each of our presence, of ours and yorn, would act as safeguard to the other."

To you, Masters of law, I ask that thee make ye not your deliberations with swoopstake haste. Rather, I prithee thee bear all due wit and measure upon your decree. Representatives, I thank you."

Sorry to hold things up. As I said I was travelling, and without good computer access. I'm back at work today, but our computer network is down, so here I am on my phone... If anything similar happens again in the future, feel free to move on, as I do not want to delay the whole group.

As I am posting from a phone, I may break up my post into a couple smaller posts, as I've lost a few longer ones in the past.

Shale takes a step forward from where he has been standing against the back wall of the council chamber. His grey clothes and short slim stature stand in contrast to the weight of his presence, and the confidence in his bearing. "Gentlemen; I request an opportunity to speak 'ere you retire."

What Tumbler said; that's how I read it too. It was not a threat, but merely reframing the intrusion into himself that he was feeling in comparable terms. He cannot invade someone's mind, but he could pour himself physically into the voids within the human body, such as ears, nose, mouth, and lungs. Nothing sexual implied (not sure where you got rectum from), just a comparison of one violation of autonomy or personal space vs. another. When he said it, I immediately thought of drowning in him.

What, you mean these completely empty air spaces in your chest cavity are for your personal use only?

He has the wherewithal to know that would be innapropriate, and given how that would be innapropriate, what were you doing in his head without permission to be there? Better put it in perspective with an example.

If I could offer an observers take on that, I believe what he was saying that invading his mind was an uninvited violation. In most sci-fi settings, doing so is often considered tantamount to your unmentionable crime. His query also did not necessarily have any sexual connotation, so I think it is not fair to assume it was intended in that manner.

Second, I actually find the idea of banning mention of a crime against another to be far more likely to have the opposite of the intended effect. Victims receive the message that what was done to them was so unspeakable that it cannot even be spoken of. The result can only be to amplify the stigma already inflicted. (My day job is as a therapist, so this category of individual is something I work with frequently - though I am not specifically a sexual abuse counsellor).

However, I'm aware that this is a Paizo policy and not yours, and thus while in their playground, we play by their rules. I also can't remember if the policy bans mention of the crime (its existence), or more its use within storylines. I think it was the second, but I could be wrong.

To summarize, I believe Imagine violated authority over self by not asking consent to be in his mind. Clayface was only pointing out this violation and asking her to respect his boundaries. His comparison could be taken with a sexual connotation, if you remove the context that he is a genderless, non-sexual, amorphous blob, and so the lesson to him might be to be mindful of how such things might be misinterpreted.

Shale walks up the steps at an seriously slow normal human pace. Conscious of the cameras and many people watching, he tries to put them out of his mind as he advances towards the top. He lets himself in the front doors, only to be immediately greeted by the forward security post. He presents his JLA identification, allowing it to be verified before proceeding.

In the kitchen at the Allen residence, Shale is explaining what had happened at the museum, and the appearance of the man that looked like Barry.

Has Barry been around in recent history? With Bart in his 40's, I was assuming he would be in his early 60's or so, and that he had simply retired; is that not the case?

"I do not believe it was Barry, but as it looked and sounded just like him, and moved with super speed, we must allow for the possibility. He manifested some strange ability utilizing blue fire, that he was able to shape into solid objects."

"I suggest you find a place to go into hiding temporarily, until we get to the bottom of this. On the chance that this is Barry, under some form of mind control, or that blue fire, I suggest you go to a location unknown to Barry; other members of the Justice League have maintained such protocols with their loved ones, as being controlled and forced to harm them is an unfortunately common tactic amongst the our more vengeful adversaries. If you have such a failsafe, I suggest you use it. If you do not, I would recommend that you consider spending some time aboard the Watchtower. I..."

He cuts off as something from the small clock radio, softly chattering above the a kitchen sink full of dishes and soapy water, catches his attention. He steps up to it and turns up the volume.

"...killing who knows how many civilians. Obviously, Superman realized he had to come out of hiding and whip this new team into shape. That's right people, Superman has returned!"

Shale shares a concerned look with Iris, before checking the alert status on his communicator. A voice emerges just then, Sinter's distorted energetic hum, "Sinter here, no emergency, I think, but Superman seems to be back. He did a fashion change though. "

"Acknowledged, Sinter. I'll be there momentarily. To all members: Given the appearance of the Flash, the timing of this return seems odd, particularly if Superman has changed his appearance. I suggest we proceed with exceptional caution until we have verified both his identity and mental status."

Exchanging a final few words with Iris regarding her plans, he departs from her home. Milliseconds later he appears at the foot of the Capital Building stairs, in the plain view of all, looking up at the apparent figure of Superman.

Ah. So he's temporarily restrained, but could still theoretically break loose at any time.

"If you all feel you have the situation in hand, there are matters I must attend to. Whether that was an imposter or truly Barry Allen under some form of mind control, I must make certain the others in his life are safe. Should the man wearing his face return, or if Tarpit wrestles free of Imagines control, hail me, and I shall hasten thither."

If he gets no objections, he will speed from the seen, heading quickly to the Allen residence, both to confirm Iris is safe, and to see if the real Barry Allen is there. He will still take a circuitous route, just in case he is followed, and will double back a few times in an effort to spot any speedster that might try to shadow him.

Shale distractedly flicks the boomerang off his chest while rising to his feet. Anyone with the senses to do so might notice that it took him several picoseconds longer than usual to do so.

Wonder what that was supposed to do?

A split second later he bolts at Captain Boomerang, striking the man with an absent minded fist as he continues on, taking stock of the current situation and threats to civilians.

Actually, it increases the target's effective weight by the power's strength (5 per rank, just like Superstrength or Telekinesis). If the new weight exceeds your Maximum carry, then you struggle to move under your own weight.

The Heavy Load of Strength 30 is 1600 lbs. Shale usually weighs 9840 lbs, perhaps varying depending on the timing of his last BM. This will increase his relative weight to about 10440 lbs, or an increase of 16%. That is the equivalent of a 180lb man suddenly gaining just under 30 lbs.

Shale's max lift is 534000 lbs. At his current loadout (including 2500 lbs of high density gear) of about 13000 lbs he is not even close to his Light-Load limit of 43 tons.

Captain Boomerang couldn't have picked a worse target for this. Shale actually even has the Feat: Environmental Adaptation: High Gravity, which I only took for flavour reasons and never actually thought would come up. Honestly, as tired as he is, I doubt he'd even notice he just gained the equivalent of 30 lbs.

Here is an example of an effect based system working against someone. If he had increased his weight by a factor of 6 or something, it might have caused more trouble (though not really in this case, that would still only get him slightly into his medium load). Since it is based on Move Object, it doesn't really alter gravity, but rather increases weight by a set amount.

Kara "Imagine" Luthor wrote:
Fridge-Logic question: If the enemies are willingly letting you take them anywhere, why wouldn't you just drop them off at jail?

OOC Explanation: Limitation of the power stunt. Though fluff wise super-speed effect, mechanically it was a Teleportation effect. Since M&M is an effects based game, it allows you to do that, since it is the mechanics of how things happen that matter to the rules, but the fluff based reasons that matter to the story. So, moving people via super speed is a defacto teleportation effect. Teleportation doesn't allow you to easily cause multiple parties to end up in different locations. It could probably be built that way, but I don't think I had enough points to manage it, given the ways my powers are set up.

IC Explanation: He had only micro-seconds to act, and moving to multiple locations might have cost him time he didn't have to spare. Additionally, as most of the them are still active and armed, moving them to a jail or prison would likely endanger the prison staff who were not expecting them to appear in their midst, and the resulting confusion could cause unnecessary casualties there, as well as result in the possible escape or injury of other current inmates.

I still feel bad for J. Michael Straczynski, the guy that had to write "One more Day." He gets a lot of flack for how bad that plot shift was when he boss basically told him he had to get rid of the marriage in order to keep Peter Parker young and hip. He was told Peter was not allowed to be married, nor was he allowed to have them get divorced. He basically got handed a set of instructions that said, "Come up with a way to hand-wave all this history." He was being commanded to come up with something hackneyed from the start, and given a set of limitations on storytelling that made any reasonable set of events off limits. Basically, One more Day was Joe Quesada's fault, and Straczynski did the best he could with a set of dumb instructions and limitations.

That incident where Wally West's Flash moves an entire city's population of 1 million is often cited in a lot of meme's about how bad comic books are at physics. Someone worked it out, and to make a million trips in the time given (.00001 microseconds), he would have had to be traveling some trillion times the speed of light.

And to add physics insult to physics injury, he is overcome by all the accumulated increase in mass caused by moving so fast, after he stops moving.

Shale is a stick-in-the-mud-hero, save 'em from themselves, and all that. So he would have moved them before the energy blast hit them, as he couldn't take the chance it might disintegrate them. This means that the villains are probably still active (unless they resisted the relocation and are still back at the museum). Add to that bit of fun that Shale will be Distracted for the rest of the round, and Fatigued until he has a chance to rest.

Similar to Whipporwill, I'm invoking a Complication for Shale (duty to prptect the innocent) to grant a Hero Point, but then immediately use it for power stunt.

His attention elsewhere until a mere moment before, Shale does not turn his head from the figure resembling Barry Allen, lest he be faking his degree of injury and counter attack. However, when the henchman's voice cuts off in a cry, his head whips around to see the man's containment suit ripping apart. Having read what similar incidents did when involving the likes of Captian Atom, he instantly feared the worst.

While appearing to be a near instantaneous explosion to nearly everyone else, to his eyes, the flash of blue begins to expand outwards slowly, moving much by inch outward from the glowing figure' s fracturing form.

Quickly he grabbed a hold of his allies, Imagine and one of her stooges first. He runs then down the street, leaving them some five hundred feet distant, in a place where not only multiple buildings separated them from the explosion, but behind a thick concrete wall of the Central City War memorial, and it's long list of engraved names. Next he returned for the next group. Spotting the new recruit Whipporwill protecting a group of school children, he scooped them up and carried them down the road to the relative safety of the memorial.

Back and forth he races, again and again and again, grabbing heroes and bystanders in groups of two and threes. Each time he returned to the Flash museum, the cloud of glowing blue energy was larger, moving inches outward, inexorably, continuing to expand even at the unfathomable relative speed this maneuver was requiring of him. Speed did not normally tax him, but moving at this speed felt as though it would tear even him so apart. His lungs burned for air, but at this rate of movement there was no way to stop for a breath, the air pressure was just too low to fill his lungs unless he were to stop, or at least slow down, and that was the one this he could not afford to do.

The Luthor goon squad relocated, and all of his allies but Sinter removed, he searched the rubble for every remaining bystander, and then began moving foes. Not-Barry-Allen, the Tar Monster whose skin would have burnwd him on contact had his own not been so dense, the not-Clayface creature was next; heavy, but hardly immovable. Scouring the area a last time, he saw only Winter remaining. Being non-corporeal, he had no way to effectively move the man, but he suspected that the approaching energy wave would not destroy him; his form was extremely resilient.

Moving back to the Memorial Park with the others, he nearly collapsed as the cummulative effort of all the trips took its toll, driving him to his knees.

Power Stunt: Mass Relocation
Teleport 8 (Area: Burst (Progression 2) 200 ft radius, Action: Reaction; Distracting, Tiring, Limited: Short Range only)

I could npt afford the Attack option on this stunt, so any enemies that actively resist him can choose to remain behind without contest; they'd have to be willing participants to enjoy the ride.

Head spinning, Shale looked around. It looked like everyone was safe, for the moment, though now civilians and injured bystanders littered the park, along with the villains and his allies. There had been no time to try and split them up into two groups. Hard to believe that Wally West had once evacuated a city of a million people the same way in advance of a nuclear explosion. He'd always respected the man, but now trying, and barely managing a pale imitation of the same feat gave him a new level of respect for the man's speed.

I don't think there was any genuine hostility here. What we had was a misunderstanding, which I think has now been laid to rest; Imagine can speak to her part. I don't blaim her for taking offense; she thought I was making things personal, though that was far from my intent. I think it was a simple misunderstanding, and now that we have had the opportunity to talk it out, all is good.

I know you've expressed some reservations with GMing a PbP game as you are relatively new to the medium, but I think you've been doing a great job. However, if it is no longer fun for you, I can respect that. Let us know how to make it fun for you again. If that is not possible, then I'm not going to begrudge someone for moving on. However, I'll point out that with the recent injection of fresh blood, the dynamic of the team and the game has the potential to change, and it would be a shame not to give it a chance.

As for player agency, perhaps you can give us some guidelines towards what you like to see. I like to play logically, where characters act as though they were real life people, and make decisions based on what makes sense in their circumstances. However, if you would prefer something more four-colour, where the suspension of disbelief is far more pronounced, and we just go with it, then let us know, as we can try to make the necessary mental adjustment. If you prefer something in between, or off in another direction, give us a bit of a picture of what you have on mind.

I think we have a good group here, and the misunderstanding notwithstanding, this game has been a lot of fun for me.

Imagine:
Interesting explanation, but I guess as we discovered it was entirely a one sided experience as I was unaware you were confused. I was proceeding from a different set of assumptions as to what is common knowledge. Common knowledge is funny that way, as what might be common knowledge among one set of associates might be obscure to another, depending on all sorts of aspects like age, education, culture, and so on.

As for the specifics regarding why I 'rolled over' Imagine's legal ramblings, I'll refrain from explaining unless you actually want to know, as I don't want to come across patronizing. Suffice to say, the law doesn't work that way, and unless we as Special Agents had authority to remove evidence from the scene of a crime (probably to address an urgent threat), we would have to abide by the same rules as regular police officers. Taking Steel would be kidnapping, and taking her armour would be grand theft.

Shale is the type that feels he bears responsibility for everything the JLA does, so having a teammate commit felonies right in front of him was not acceptable. That is why he was frustrated by the situation; because he thought Imagine was making stuff up just so she could get her way, just like she dodged the accusations on the Watchtower and played dumb then. This really felt like an extension of that, so I as the player assumed you were intentially playing up that aspect of her personality. Sorry for the misunderstanding, and the inadvertent insult.

The felonies were the big issue for Shale, which is why before the whole misunderstanding came to light, I sent a message to Tumbler describing how Shale removed the Armour from the helicopter by stealth; after it had left the scene, but before it reached his destination. His intent was to preserve law, save the JLA from a scandal that would have hurt it a great deal, particularly in its present form, and also to save them from a situation where the team would logically have no choice bit to kick Imagine off the team for her actions. He respects Imagine, and actually would not want to lose her, though I think he is at a loss as to how to containe some of her more outrageous behaviour.

This is all just my perspective, intended to let you know what I was actually going on, as opposed to the more imaginative behinds the scenes explanation you described. Hope it helps.

+29, same as mine. You also have 1 rank of SuperStrength from growth that gets added in.

Not my best roll ever, but better than yours. Although, shouldn't your grapple bonus be +28? +16 Strength, +8 Attack, +4 Size.

Shale sidesteps the charge of the massive earthen wave, knocking the poorly define 'limbs' away with a shove. Although it was surprisingly close for a speedster.

For some reason I was picturing this at night and assuming the place was deserted, not sure where I got that from. If there are civies present I may change my action as Shale would never intentionally endanger bystanders. At the very least I might say he reconnoiter the building at superspeed before using the shockwave, and angling it to miss any wounded or bystanders.

Shale appears, standing nearly still a half dozen yards from the energy figure. His sudden appearance preceeds his shockwave by only a blink of the eye.

BOOM!

Power Stunt: Shock Wave
Damage 12 (Area: Cone, Knockback 12; Limited: Only when Running; Affects Insubstantial, Non-Lethal Only)

A massive blast of air and dust pounds against the two figures standing within the damaged ruins. Anything weighing less than a car is sent skidding along the ground, if not outright tossed through the air.

This is designed to pick an opponent up and toss them, but not be lethal. The Affects Insubstantial would kind of be like Affects Insubstantial 2 (Limited to things that can be interacted with). So for instance, an energy creature with no body (Insubstantial 3) would be affected by the sheer mass of physical atoms trying to interact with the energy of their body, while something truly insubsantial (4 Ranks) would still be completely imune.

Clayface; sorry for catching you in the blast, but from your stories so far it sounds like no one knows who you are and so you look like a bad guy. Misunderstandings when new heroes meet each other are practically a comic book requirement besides.

"Well wastrel, you have our attention. What is it you wish to gain from this?"

Ya, so he's potentially an emergency back-up superhero.

Young Justice did a bit of a bait and switch with Flash, basically treating the older Flash of the JLA as if it had been Barry, even though in the show it had been Wally. That freed up Wally to join Young Justice as Kid Flash. Or maybe Wally was just so fast he could be both Flashes at the same time.

I have been thinking over the whole interaction with Imagine and Atlas2112, still trying to figure out what I did to offend, and I think I've finally put my finger on it. I have been trying to figure out how to state it, and apologize without inadvertently causing yet more offence, so here goes.

(Rabbit-hole warning; contains links to TVTropes.org)

When Imagine was talking about her legal precedents and Diplomatic Immunity, I instantly looked at it and assumed that it was intended to be more Imagine shtick as neither law nor diplomatic immunity actually work that way. As a result, when I insulted Imagine for being immature I was unintentionally calling Atlas2112 immature, as Atlas was just intending to invoke some Comic-book law to escape the situation without having to back down.

I've read up on some aspects of law, and on Diplomatic Immunity before (I can't remember why, but it was a passing interest) and so when I read Imagine's claims, I automatically dismissed it, and didn't even consider that it was being offered in good faith, as creative roleplaying. I assumed it was more of the off-the-wall antics of Imagine, who has been wonderfully portrayed, and it seemed fully consistent with her character that she would spout a bunch of rationalizations that would never work with real-world law. Because of that assumption, I didn't hold back in Shale's rebuke of Imagine, because I thought she was knowingly being silly. What I did not consider is that not everyone has read up on how Diplomatic Immunity actually works, and so that to most people, going with a Hollywood interpretation was perfectly reasonable, as that is the frame of reference that most individuals have to work with.

In essence, what I think happened was that I misunderstood someone's genuine intent towards creative roleplaying with an entirely different form of creative roleplaying, and then bashed that person's ideas because I improperly assumed we were both "in-on-the-joke." This is in turn why I was confused, because I thought you must clearly know the law doesn't work that way (which you may have had no actual way of knowing), in which case you would know I was only mocking Imagine, and by no means intending to mock the player.

If this explanation makes sense, please let me know, as if it is, you definitely have my apology. If it's not, and I've misinterpreted things again, let me know, and I'll try to figure out how to make certain I don't make the same misstep again.

Slight aside, but I am wondering if there is an active version of the flash in operation at the present time. I mentioned him as a mentor when I first got to this dimension, and as well as an instructor for the whole superhero gig. I am imagining this was Bart Allen (former Impulse/Kid Flash) as Barry would be pretty old at this point, and Wally West was killed in Young Justice. Shale has been in-universe a few years now though, so he could have since retired from active duty, gotten killed, or gone missing like some other JLA members.

Edit: Just read Tumber's intro which describes Shale as the only active Flash. In that case, I'll amend my question to be "is there a living inactive Flash in the world at present?

Sorry if I offended anyone, that was definitely not my intent; what was posted was meant to be strictly in-character. I'm not the type to take anything going on in-game personally. I think Imagine is being very colourfully played, and out-of-character I am enjoying the performance. Please believe that I feel no real-life animosity for either Imagine or her player.

The intent of the 'vindictive fantasy' he was playing out in his mind was only meant only to convey the frustration that he, the fictional character portrayed here, was experiencing in the situation. I've been viewing this game as pure fun, and surely don't want to spoil that for anyone.

I have been envisioning Shale as basically a knight in shining armour, swords and chivalry type, so what I thought was going on was just a variation of the typical Paladin vs. Rogue rivalry that happens when those character types occur within the same party.

I may also have misunderstood, but I had the impression that a intra-party squabble was something that was intended by you as the GM, as per the accusations leveled by the Question. My sense was that particularly given the accusations, Shale has been trying to walk a narrow line: pressure to apply extra scrutiny to Imagine's actions, but a simultaneous effort not to allow himself to be manipulated. That is why he basically took it personally when she tried to do something very clearly illegal (kidnapping and theft) right under his nose. The fantasy was what he felt like doing, but what he pulled back from because he was afraid he might be getting manipulated into it (by the Question, et al), in order to escalate a difference of opinion into an outright fight.

PbP (or any text-only medium) can make things hard as you never get to see the other players. Sarcasm, tongue-in-cheek, or the fact that I was typing with a smile on my face does not convey. I've seen misunderstandings occur occasionally, but it has been a long while since I've been involved in one. For that, I apologize.

Please let me know how you would like to proceed.

Shale sighs to himself at the continued childishness displayed by his teammate. He releases the helicopter and delivers Steel safely to the ground. He glances up at the helicopter and briefly considers answering her childishness with childishness. He imagined the smug satisfaction he would feel as Imagine looked around at herself and her goons to find them drifting along through the air, her entire helicopter dismantled and nearly arranged piece by piece, bolt by bolt, all along the ground, down to the last nut. He could do it too; a few hundred thousand actions in the span of a microsecond was doable, and 'hand-tight' applies to just about everything at his strength, though fetching the proper tools was also not really a challenge if absolutely necessary.

However, despite how satisfying that would probably feel, it would probably just provoke her to something even more ludicrously immature. Turning to where Sinter is levetating he says, "We are going to have to do something about this. Regardless of whatever aspersions the Question and his associates are casting on her, this behaviour is causing significant issues of its own. We cannot have a member of the league kidnapping foes and fabricating laws as she pleases. To have a member of the League acting in clear violation of local laws is unacceptable, from both a moral and public relations standpoint. This vexes me."

Ya, I figured it might be something bigger than your standard corporate number, but a Chinook is HUGE. Ever seen one? I saw an air show once where they were able to drive multiple vehicles onto one and fly away, and she flies around in that? Could you even land one in the city, even on a skyscraper rooftop?

A quick google search later: Apparently you can land one in the city, if you have a football field handy... I still question how practical it would be.

Regardless, I figured it would have some LexTech boosters or something that would be able to take my weight without resorting to TK; the point was more symbolic in inconveniencing you, and trying to convince Imagine not to make a scene. However, if I wanted to avoid a scene, I suppose getting into it with the JLA's own Brittney-Paris Kardashian was my first mistake...

Shale begins to pull against the helicopter, starting to pump his feet against the air to build up some air pressure in order to have the traction he needs to apply his strength. He tries, for the moment, not to damage the superstructure, or merely rip the frame of the helicopter in half inadvertently, trying to soften his grip as he hears the groaning of steel.

"Intervening in a Kidnapping is not Kidnapping in and of itself. You are trying to make a mockery of common sense, in the same way you mocked the questions we had of you upon the Watchtower mere days ago. If you insist on playing the fool then conversation becomes pointless. Act as an adult or we will have to treat you like a child. I am not advocating letting her go, merely pointing out that there are proper authorities! You are not the law, and heroes must be bound by the same law they protect or it means nothing. Come with me and escort her to a lawful detention centre. We will interrogate her there, with the eyes of the magistrate baring legal witness and the confidence of her barrister, should she wish it!"

The helicopter continues to lose altitude, settling towards the street below.

Shale's strength tops out at an effective 67, Imagine's at 60.
Unless she attacks him or changes the contest somehow, the power battle favours him. Ball is back in your court.

Mixing Marvel and DC? Blasphemy! Besides, we all know Raven ended up with Beast Boy.

Campaign: The Next Generation of the Justice League. Loosely based on the DC Animated Universe (Batman: The Animated Series, Superman, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, Young Justice), it takes place about 20 years after the present day

Power Level: 12
Power Points: 182

Roster:

Imagine: Genetically engineered telepath and telekinetic, Kara Luthor, a former mental patient turned super hero. She's been experiencing a little tension between her loyalty to the Justice League, and loyalty to her father's interests.

Sinter: Everyman turned into an energy based plasma being. Has flight, blasting, and associated powers.

Shale: Extra-dimensional speedster/tank. Technically successor to the flash, natives of his dimension have much greater mass than those in ours, leading to an odd mix of traditional speed and tank type tropes.

Shale glances at Sinter and then just rolls his eyes. He zips up to the chopper, and then finding a sturdy bit of the frame to hang on to, slows, and then just stops running. Since most commercial helicopters fly fairly close to their max weight, having a fairly narrow relative margin for cargo, the addition of an extra 10000 lbs of weight, as represented by Shale's ultra-dense form, is enough to cause the vehicle to instantly stop in place and begin a rapid decent. Alarms blaring, the helicopter starts to drift towards the ground, it appearing to any observer as though Shale is pulling it down with one hand.

As an example, the AW139, which is a current top of the line chopper for corporate/military/rescue use weighs about 8000 lbs and has a max flt weight of 14950 lbs. No doubt this Lex-Corp chopper is better, but 10000 is still a lot of weight. If he needs to, he'll pull a little as well.

Shale sends Imagine a transmission on the JLA frequency, so only Sinter, VICTOR, and other JLA members can hear it, "Kara, cease this prattle, and land this aircraft immediately. As a LexCorp vehicle I have no doubt this craft has some sort of special propulsion that could handle my weight, but I guarantee things would change were I to start exerting even the slightest bit of effort. You've seen me rip a tank in half; think you that your aircraft will survive? Do not test me; I can catch every one of your men before they hit the ground, so I endanger no one by acting on this. Mind control me into releasing you and you'll have crossed a line you cannot come back from."

Shale has his own complications in play here, mostly "Duty" as in this case Steel is potentially an innocent pawn of other powers, and is at the least being arrested illegally (Unlawful Confinement, aka, Kidnapping). This makes me think I should give him another complication as well, something along the lines of "Moral Authority", as a chivalrous knight, he has a very hard and fast view of both right and wrong, and the law, and somewhat arrogantly views himself as an authority on both subjects (though not the meat and potatoes of law, as he knows he's not a lawyer, but the logic by which it is applied)."

As they approach the ground, Shale continues his lecture, "Castle Doctrine applies only to an active threat, and while interpretation of such doctrine varies within each State that uses it, there are none that would allow either the harm or rapture of an insensible foe.

"And even were what you say about being a nation unto itself true, international law dictates that local laws must be observed while acting within the boundaries of a signatory's sovereign territory. Should you feel you have a legal claim, you can apply for extradition. Furthermore, while Diplomatic Immunity might render you beyond the penalty of law in another nation without due process, it offers no protection against intervention concerning a crime in progress."

"To wit, release the girl, and her property. On this point I shall not yield!"

That's kind of mean. But google also kind ruins the whole "withhold the punchline" thing.

Spoiler:
"Soup and iced cream."
