Scarab Sages

I am making a new character for an upcoming Agents of Edgewatch game so while I was building my character I wanted her to be an Eldritch Archer. While building I noticed something was missing from Remastered Eldritch Archer and it confused me which is this paragraph missing:

"If you already cast spells from spell slots, you learn one additional cantrip from that tradition. If you’re a prepared caster, you can prepare this spell in addition to your usual cantrips per day; if you’re a spontaneous caster, you add this cantrip to your spell repertoire."

To make sure I opened up the Advanced Player's Guide... lo' and behold it is there while it is absent on Player Core 2. My question is what happens now if you already have spellcasting due to class or dedication from before?

A) You gain nothing about spellcasting from the Dedication feat, only Eldritch Shot.

B) You don't learn to cast spontaneous spells and don't gain the Cast a Spell activity BUT you still gain a spell repertoire, a cantrip of your choice from a tradition of your choice and your casting attribute is Charisma for the Dedication. You gain Eldritch Shot.

Is there a C option? I am reading it as B but it confuses me and wanted to make sure if my reading is correct since English is not my main language. v.v

I'm not aware of any official answers to those questions either.

That's what i figured...

Thank you for chiming in with how you would rule as well it is what i would do in a similar situation too if i was the GM.

I won't use them but they are extremely silly and it amazes me they glossed over it while they go into minute details on other things so people won't break them. :p

Oh well, it is what it is.

Hello folks, i was making a new Wizard character checking my options from both legacy and remaster content but Staff Nexus seem to be... non-functional as written in both versions? I looked up and low and couldn't find a conclusive answer so that's why i came to ask my questions here which are as follows:

1) What happens if your makeshift staff is destroyed or stolen? There isn't any line of word like there is for Inventor Inventions to replace it, so you are just left class featureless if that happens?

2) From what i read and understand you don't need Magical Crafting feat to upgrade your staff but still need the Crafting skill because of the crafting rules. That's good and all but can you upgrade your staff to one type only once? What if i upgraded my staff to Staff of Fire but later i want to change it to let's say... Spellstriker Staff. What happens then? I just pay for materials, craft check and be done by losing previous "version's" gold (can't sell i am assuming) unless it is an upgradeable one?

These questions bothered me a lot and i couldn't find anything in the books. My group tries to play as close to RAW as possible so it is important that i know these things before playing because i don't want to lag or bother my GM when these things occur.

I am aware that there is a work around to these issues by simply retraining to another thesis and back but that is just... silly to say the least.

Thank you to everybody who replied in advance. :)

Thanks for the replies guys, so my initial assumption was correct interact to give my weapon to my shield hand. Again i am not doing this to gain a mechanical benefit but i was curious about it because there are rules for almost every unnecessary thing in this system. (I am especially looking at you Armor Assist Feat <.<)

I would assume most people would hand wave the action tax for tossing shank between hands as long as both your hands are free so i guess that settles that one too for me.

Just buy the weapon harness armor adjustment. It allows you to tether your weapon so you can drop it and then retrieve it later with an interact action.

I am saving this for later use... ;p

It was fun reading your replies. ^^

Edit:

Cordell Kintner wrote:
Yes, essentially OP wants to be able to swap weapons without dropping them, which is a mechanical benefit. What they want to do would be the same as sheathing the weapon and drawing a new one.

This isn't what i wanted to do essentially but really similar. For anyone that wants to do that there is an Archetype Feat for that (Quick Stow, Swordmaster Archetype). ^^

Context: I am a player in a PF2e game where my character has Nimble Shield Hand feat and had this situation pop up where i wanted to hold my main hand weapon in my "free" shield hand to use my now free main hand to use another weapon. At the time since i didn't want to lag the game i used an interact action to give my main hand weapon to my "free" shield hand to hold it and went on to play my turn but after the game looking around i can't find a rule or action for passing items between hands.

I googled and nothing came up so here i am asking: Is there an action cost? Closest i can find is two-hand grip interaction under wielding items but even though they are similar they are not the same. Same with dropping an item. Asking my GM he said there is the Juggler archetype for that but looking at that archetype that is not what i am trying to do, i just want to pass an item from one hand to the other which both are free. Does this mean you can't do it in combat? Can't i play a dastardly bandit who just "bounces" his shank between hands while not stabbing things? Is there a handedness rule? What is the secret to my mom making good cakes?

Thank you for reading and i hope you will help me shed some light to this. :)

Started a new Starfinder Campaign and i was RPing my Exocortex as a self-aware A.I. (She is speaking thru comms instead of my character) then a friend pointed out that it can't be a fully self-aware A.I. since it says; "though it falls short of being truly self-aware" at the ability description. It confuses me since the wording seems to imply it have got some sort of self-awareness. Just how aware is my A.I.? Is it at the level of Jarvis?

Because sundering is a combat maneuver while broken is a condition based on HP.

After doing some research on real life counter-part of this case, yeah it is logical for a sword like this to break suddenly :)

Actually, it is more likely since the guy who is going to break it will have incredible amount of strength and probably a sword as good as yours...

I have to visit some shops and waste a good amount of gold on my sword now... :(

I kinda find this topic absurd as a Blackblade user, because how can you sunder something which can't be broken?

Does it suddenly shatter without showing some kind of weakness?

Anyways if this is the case on my next society game i am going to reforge my Blackblade and make it an Adamantine sword and make my sword arcane bond with getting Eldritch Heritage(Arcane)....

Thanks for the replies!

In Golarion you can buy copies of the Chronicles of the Pathfinder Society. I believe that they're 50 GP each and provide a +2 circumstance bonus to a specific knowledge skill. You do need time to read though them before you make your roll, so they won't help with identifying monsters in combat, but are helpful for nearly everything else.

I will look into that Pathfinder Chronicles but i guess it does the same thing as Masterwork Tools. So i will just buy Masterwork Tools and make them a single item like a beastiary or diary.

Thanis Kartaleon wrote:
B) If you do have it on a Chronicle sheet, you still need to purchase it. With a market value of 10,000 gp, you would need 27 Fame (PP).

From what i know i only have to get to 27 fame to purchase it off the market. No chronicle sheet required. I need chronicle sheet to get it BEFORE 27 fame :)

Thanks for the replies! But carrying a mask and masterwork tools seems cheaper and also more logical for a monster hunter than ioun stones or headband :P

Scarab Sages

I have got Breadth of Experience feat, so i can make knowledge skills untrained. So it is not a big deal for me :) Also nice! I will get masterwork tool for each knowledge! :)

Thanks for the reply Ben! :)

Scarab Sages

Thank you for replying! You just saved me from wasting skill ranks(About 10)! That mask will be great to roleplay with! :)

Scarab Sages

Hello fellow pathfinders!

I am new to pathfinder and i was wondering if there is any item to help me with my knowledge checks(something like special diary or beastiary?). ATM i have a PFS character which is a monster hunter/witcher/mercenary and by level 6 i can make all knowledge checks with 10+ but it costs too much skill ranks.

If there isn't an item for such thing, can i create my own beastiary as a roleplay option? For example after killing a ghoul can i "study" it so when i see another ghoul later act like i succeeded my knowledge check and ask GM about their weaknesses etc.?

P.S. I am playing a Bladebound Kensai Magus which is planning to dip into Lore Warden at level 4(Currently level 2).
