As a Gm of a few years I would like to propose something to the players here. Ever heard of Tomb of Horrors? Temple of Elemental Evil? These are legendary amongst the Gaming community. The whole design for me as a GM is to take my players to the next level after completing a long running adventure arc. Even in rote adventure paths I introduce threads to lead to the last 5 levels if Life doesn't get in the way of the game. I understand the test of godhood theme well. I played an elven fighter/wizard well beyond level 20 in Second edition and have run games starting off at level 19. The difficulty past level 15 is how do you deal with characters who can lay waste to entire villages with a few well places spells or abilities? How do you deal with the Paladin who can smite a Pit fiend into oblivion in one blow? Well, Tomb of Horrors was this at it's best. We used to call it the adventure where old PC's went to die.

Now I am not saying I want to obliterate characters. I am saying that I would want to waltz in as a near diefic servant of some greater power to hire the PC's to recover the Sword of Kas or maybe even one of the fabled Dragon Orbs. Beast hunts and Epic monsters sounds exciting, but if you would like a side adventure in which you risk it all to kill a CR 25 Lich or a CR 32 Ancient Wyrm Undead Dragon? Maybe a trip into the world scar....who knows. When you are looking at the gap from level 20 to 21 the whole game changes.

But I'm in with a 15th level 75 year old Wizard Ala Gandalf or Elminster...Hey don't knock'em those two are the reason we have gaming to start with.

Is sitting in your inbox, sir :D

Ok names "Flashgit Facemelter"

How should I submit this sheet to you?

Flashgit Facemelter:
Flashgit is an odd goblin in that he prefers Acid to Fire. He is often shunned and feared for his ability to "make water melt you". He loves to cast his acid Splash spell on things just to watch them melt. He must use acid on the things he eats and therefore is missing more than a few teeth. His normal love of goblin fire is overwhelmed by his desire to watch just about anything bubble and burn under the acridly wonderful aroma of acid on flesh.
As a part of the Licktoad tribe it is Flashgit's job to sniff out any magicky stuff and possibly destroy it with his melting water. His Mighty Girthness Chief Rendwattle Gutwad uses Flasgit as a bullied advisor because of his ability to turn even the most difficult goblins to goo fairly quick.

Secretly every goblin in the tribe hates Flashgit because he likes his water more than the revered fire, but he saved the chieftain once by using his water to put out a particularly nasty fire potion that was spilled on his favorite alchemist wife. When she ran to the chieftain in hysterics, Flashgit put her out with several well placed acid splashes that actually made her uglier!! The chieftain was both upset for the fire being put out and happy that his favorite wife was now even uglier!!!

uh huh....goblins....isn't this like kinda like trying to ride a squirrel on meth with his head caught in a beehive? (That is one angry squirrel!!)

Ok so I have never in 20 years of gaming played a goblin. SO just because...I'm in.

*goes to read the infos*

So I know of two programs out there that allow players to play in Real time. Fantasy Grounds (Over priced, but decent) & d20 Pro (Cheap, but less cool looking)

My curiosity is if anyone around on these boards would be willing to get a game going online for a once a month casual get together for say 4-8 hours, depending on times.

I am home bound, with no extra income, so I cannot host either of these options (They both require the GM to purchase a full version and players to purchase a player version). They both allow a few guest slots to play in a Game with a GM running a purchased copy.

I have alternative methods of running a game, but all of them involve a lot of patience if I am your DM, and also I would have to DM outside of the bases of this thread.

In my case I would hope to fill a guest slot for a few months until I can purchase the full version, at which point I would also be willing to DM.

I have been playing or DM/GM/ST-ing for the last 20+ years (yes I am old, but crafty). I would rather play (what a shocker), but with the right group willing to be patient with my old behind, I might be seduced out of retirement (Old DM's don't retire, we just have more stories to tell). I am computer literate, but slow when using computers for what I learned to use pen, paper, and abacus for (YES I used one at the TT for a few months, but it's cause my calculator had not been invented yet :P). In all seriousness though, I want to enjoy the game I grew up with and make some friends along the way. Care to join?

Hi! There isn't very many people in my area that play Pathfinder so I was wondering if anyone would be interested in playing it over Google+'s Hangout. I'm new to Pathfinder myself.

We'd need a GM and however many other people we can fit into a Hangout.

I really want to get playing so I hope there's some interested people.

I am interested in either a PbP or something like you are talking about. I don't know Google Hangout and my internet connection can be spotty sometimes.

I have been learning how to use Fantasy Grounds and d20 Pro as well. I am pretty computer literate, but have not had a real chance to GM or Play online much. I have DM'd 20+ years around a table top, but I would rather play as my life allows for me to play but not really DM right now. If we did a once a month game or a PbP I might be seduced to DM, as long as it comes with the understanding that you will have a slow DM do to having a real life that dictates my schedule, and someone who may often fumble the controls at his PC. Funny, I can run 17 players around a table top just fine with one set of dice, a pencil(mechanical Damn you!!), and notebook paper(I was poor in college so sue me), but put me behind the controls of a laptop to run a game of D&D and suddenly I turn into a 14.4 kbps modem. And whats worse? My Career was in Technology sales and training!!!(For shame) (v.v)

So that is me. If we get enough interest here I will be willing to play just about anything, but I prefer Arcane Casters.

As a DM/GM/ST I can run any Pathfinder Module up to Jade Regent. I can run numerous other gaming systems I will not mention here. I can also run a variant Home-brew of a world based on Rifts that uses Pathfinder classes and mechanics(Used to be D&D, but wizards had to make poor choices and come up with this thing they call D&D, but really it's WoW for PnP). I would like to once again state that I would rather play than pray (Sorry old DM humor). But as I have done for many years...I will DM to satisfy the lack thereof. (Prays anyways as usual)

I also live in an extremely rural area and can really only play online now, but MMO's are wearing thin on me. I crave the joy of my misspent youth playing D&D.

Other than that I tend to be kind wacky, creative, and I tend to bend the rules a lot in the favor of story over mechanics (Read the books folks. a word to rules lawyers: Read the "Golden Rule of Table Top Role Playing Games"), The mechanics are guidelines and meant to be manipulated to suit the needs of the Story, and the GM is final arbiter of any rules and disputes. I stick to this pretty close because if we aren't having fun, then why are we playing?

Hope to hear another reply soon :D

if its for you spell book yes thats fine. Rysil you will need to do this as well. as it relates to the cost of having found or purchased additional spells for your spell books

Wait so we are purchasing spells now?

I just spent 8 hours picking my spells according to what was posted earlier only to have to pay gold that is already spent?

Can you say no old man Wiz?

Besides you have an alchemist and another Wiz already. Thanks but no thanks. I will find somewhere else.

Have fun.

Lord Thasmudyan wrote:
So if your talking more like additional spells in your spell book than yeah thats fine. just go by what you just posted. If your saying extra spells per day no it needs to follow the max per level and due to intelligence

Nope this is just what is in my Spellbook. Thank you. Shall be posted here soon

Lord Thasmudyan wrote:

Yeah I was going to mention that you did need to apply the aging modifiers due to his age.

As to the more spells than that only if you have higher than normal intelligence, take a feat that would give you extra, or something to that effect.

Int 18(Base for 17 points)+2(Human)+2(Age)+3(Level bonus) = 25

So, with an intelligence of 25 I would still start with only 7 spells + 22 (2 per level) because the extra int for age & level do not count according to the mechanics.

As a DM in the past starting at this level or higher I pad their Spellbook like this:

1st Int mod times 2
2nd Int mod times 2
3rd Int mod times 2
4th Int mod times 1.5
5th Int mod times 1.5
6th Int mod times 1.5
7th Int mod times 1
8th Int mod times 1
9th Int mod times 1

This gives a higher level Character what they might have earned through adventuring and purchasing spells over a 20th level career. Also as I am taking the aging mods both good and bad it reflects more time in researching spells. This is just my thoughts, and I will acquiesce to your decision either way :D

Lord Thasmudyan wrote:
What do you mean by guidelines? are you asking what sort of spells or something else?

I mean, "Do I get more than that?"

I am just curious as he would have been a scribe or some other clerical caster wizard at a College or Arcane Research Facility. Thus giving him much more time to gather spells, esp. 1-3 as those are the most common.

Also I need to apply aging mods...for him being 68....is that acceptable to you?

Ok I will post as soon as I am done.

Will Be under Bale Morgaise He is a 68 year old Wizard who got told all his life he could not adventure....well Screw them he's gonna do it anyways...Screw you ma....I can cast spells!!!

Oh and Since I am a 12th level straight wizard no multi of funky stuffs...Can you give me spell guidelines beyond his initial 7 spells + 2 per level? Or is that my limit?

I am curious about a few things.

1.) We must roll all hit dice post first level on the board yet we are to fully flesh out our characters prior to...how exactly is this done?

2.) How do you define Munchkinnie? (This seems like an evil Disney spin-off)

3.) Do you feel that an overly analytical 68 year old Wizard with a penchant for "Hmmmmm"-ing a lot would detract from your over-all effect?

4.) Is this list long enough yet?

No but in all seriousness, I am curious to know if someone who can't seem to find a PbP game that lasts beyond 4-5 days, is gonna have luck here.

Anyways I will work on my Varanasi Male Wizard and then you can let me know if I qualify :D

Oh and how do I submit this to you when I am done exactly?
