"Did you all hear that?" Rutilux breaks into a run towards the building.

Rutilux is yoinked, gently.

"Yes, we appreciate your willingness to negotiate, and I am prone to it," He says almost sheepishly. "I'll gab all day sometimes if folks let me so, Sasha is probably right."

"Your pardon, but there's a LOT of ways a relationship can be ended, some of them less ... pleasant than others. Dead gnomes would be of no use to us, for example. Could we clarify that the ending of the relationship as you mention would keep both the gnomes AND us alive if we did this for you?" Rutilux's tone is upbeat and warm, even if he has his own concerns about this deal regardless.

Rutilux hears Kiley call the creature an Umbral dragon and he doesn't doubt her, but he tries to remember any old stories on how to placate them or at least how they think.. Got to know the customer if you want to close the deal, or at least live to keep on in the trade

Rutilux blinks as Ari vanishes and races off, and then says "Pardon her, she's been holding her bladder for at least a half hour , you know how it is." A sheepish shrug and hoping they do not all now die.

Bluff: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10

Rutilux winces as Sasha's approach might not be ..as diplomatic as he'd like.

"My colleague is not normally so brusque, but we ARE filled with curiosity on many matters. Might we have more details on our assurances and the expectations on us in return should we attend this invitation?"

"Easy, Shaggar," He whispers "It's a gamble, I admit, and you're right not trust but we might learn a lot too and knowledge can be useful." He looks to the others to see what they think. The halfling prides himself on winning folks over so perhaps thinks talking works to his strength. Of course, something called "The Black Hunger" isn't likely to be all tea and biscuits.

"Ah, I think I'll stay further back this time given my noisy showing before," He gives a sheepish look at that.

Rutilux notices the 'message' Shaggar sends with the head, and nods.He casts detect magic over some of the items retrieved and if anything shows as such , he tells his friends.

With Kiley neatly and impressively ending the fight just after Ari had dispatched her own foe, she turns to look at Rutilux. "Leira's left ear," she curses, "'Your chariot's extended warranty?' I've told better lies without moving my lips. You can spin a fine yarn, my friend, but what were you thinking with that one? Trying to baffle them into submission?"

Wiping down her daggers, she surveys the five fresh troglodyte corpses, before resheathing the pair of them. "Still, no harm done, I suppose. Though that one may beg to differ," Ari nods in the direction of the headless shaman.

The halfling chuckles a bit abashed, "I was trying to provoke them into coming out were we wouldn't be at the chokepoints; break up their formation a bit? Where we could waylay THEM. I honestly did bait a group of humans out of a tavern once with that ploy, worked like a charm..." He considers "They WERE very drunk though."

"He's trying to turn invisi..." Their sorcerer starts to warn them... but then a head falls off and bounces, "Nevermind."

Rutilux stamps his foot and a ripple of power attempts to knock prone the Trog in front of Pheliks.

Thunderstomp on Trog before Pheliks, or the one next to that if it already goes down... to hit: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

Rutilux curses, and realizes he can't cast in that smoke safely to aim and a wide spell would hurt a friend, but he can perhaps snag one near Shaggar.

Squeezing in behind Pheliks he angles and lets loose a spell, one that is sure to hurt the ears of his target upon the northern most trog.

Ear piercing Scream, DC 17 Fort for halve dmg and stop daze 2d6 ⇒ (2, 6) = 8

Rutilux opens the door he knocked on ,and sends the dancing lights in the form of one faintly glowing, vaguely humanoid shape into the smoke, hoping to draw foes out into view!

Rutilux hears they are ready, and gulps now afraid to open the door. Rather, he casts a spell of protection upon himself

Then moves to the side of the door, still closed, and .. knocks on it saying in common "Well met, I'm with the Freewind Hin Caravan. We've been trying to reach you about your chariot's extended warranty." These words have been known to send even reasonable beings into a rage, and if he must be attacked maybe they'll at least be disorganized about it?

Two infants with a... good grief, when this group retires he never gets to work the front desk.

To the archivist "Thank you so much for the map and your help.." The halfling claps his hands almost eager "Anvil Quarter sounds good to me as well for a first drop by."

"Is there a pass stone or other way that leads to the surface? Not that I plan to cut and run immediately, but always nice to have a way to get new supplies and the like then come back" The halfling doubts it is that easy, but if there is one he'd kick himself if he didn't ask.

Rutilux is too worried about Sasha to make more of it, but files it away for later, and nods as their ranger friend gets to the point.

A whisper "Sasha, are you ... all right?"

Rutilux gapes, "And here I was just going to share my memories of Neverwinter's Blacklake district."

Rutilux arches a brow "Wait, do we keep these thoughts or memory and just share, or do you take them from us forever? Seems an important clause to consider... exclusive rights to the subject matter is far different from right to copy."

"Ah, Archivist Velithar or formerly known as at least. We'd be delighted to help you I'm sure. How do we revitalize you specifically? Find some books for you? Share our lore in turn?"

Rutilux has no expertise in religion but when eyes light up on a dead person? YIKES!

"Your pardon. No insult meant. You're clearly a being of education , I mean, your collection here is amazing. I'm Rutilux Freewind, how should we call you?" I have no idea what this is but it is TERRIFYING, so treat it like a Tempos worshiping barbarian and put on your sales face Ruti, like your parents taught you. Besides, we might learn something.

Rutilux gives Sasha a grateful look, and then when the group again moves on ahead he still feels nervous. Feels like we're going deep into the throat of a dragon here. Eventually it's going to swallow.

Seeing that CLIMBING maybe involved, Rutilux winces and waits for instruction This place is grand, but I feel a wee bit overwhelmed and lost. For now, follow the caravan and hope the lead driver isn't drunk.

Rutilux follows the big furry ranger's lead Embarrassing how much better at sneaking than I am some of these huge folk are.

Rutilux looks at the others for their ideas of how to proceed.

Rutilux follows somewhere in the middle.

Rutilux says "Have to be careful about wiping off our protective oinment but i can clear up a bit of that saliva I think." He offers his prestidigitation

"Try not to die," Rutilux advises to those caught in the spray moving closer to cast anew, but this time trying a more potent spell. Certainly more potent than when he first started, the silent scream only his victim can ear is more powerful than it would have been even a mere month ago.

Ear Piercing Scream on Large Lizard, Fort Save DC 17 to avoid 1 round Daze and half damage 2d6 ⇒ (4, 6) = 10

Rutilux moves further down the bridge and flings a jolt spell at the great lizard.

Rutilux moves forward, hustling, most of his spells unable to reach from here!

Rutilux gulps as quietly as he can. At least it's not a snake

Rutilux eyes the flasks of acid, nods and takes one. Then follows what's the others.He's not sure he is comfortable with the fuse bomb when he might accidentally send out an electrical spark.

Sighing melodramatically, Ari makes a show of delicately applying the paste. "There's just so many suitors down here, all fighting over little old me. I do hope this nasty ointment doesn't put them off," she says in a coquettish voice. She performs a simpering twirl. "Well, that or the blue skin," she adds in her normal tone.

"How do I smell, dear?" she asks Rutilux. "And if that sounds like I'm setting you up for a punchline, be my guest."

Rutilux chuckles, makes a sniff and says "Like a Summer Bazaar with too many tanneries and fish stores I fear, but better than what the Trogs do eh?"

He will apply some to himself as well when it is his turn.

"Why this looks down right impressive," Rutilux smiles as he glances about. Resources are good. You can bargain for them, and where there is bargaining, there's a chance of prospering, or at least staying alive.

Rutilux wipes some dust off his garb, and lets the others take the lead. Per Kiley's suggestion , he tries to move quietly.

It did for me.

Rutilux is caught off guard by that, then grins back, "Okay, well played."

"You may regret that offer," He jokes.

"Well, I'm not trying a tune as a follow up to THAT lovely bit" The halfling chortles "And ready when you folks are I suppose."

The halflng's eyebrows lift and eyes widen for a moment as Shaggar... uhm.. sings. He schools his features quickly.

Singing might be a stretch to describe the way Shaggar growls his way through the sea shanty, but Ari manages to keep the wince off her face as she chuckles at the bawdy lyrics. "Well thank you," she says, "that was quite something."

Rutilux agrees, "Can't deny it wasn't something, quite the something." And he adds to show support, "Very Enthusiastic"

Then Ari begins to sing. This song he's heard and it brings a smile to his face for that sake. Well, you can tell none of us are worshiping Milil

She's not a singer either, beyond joining in with campfire songs, usually after a drink or three, so Ari stops there. "Always leave them wanting more - that's what an elven minstrel once told me," she says. "I'll teach you the rest later, my treat."

"The right drinks can be quite the muse." He says "Course, I got oer mused one evening and ended up with the shade of an oil lamp as a hat one morning so.." A chuckle "The muse isn't always on my side."

"Oh we've GOT To get Shaggar West of Baldur's gate sometime," Rutilux WAS staying out of it but really he wants to see the look on the gnoll's muzzle after a few days sailing on the Sea of Swords

Rutilux can see that Ari and Kiley are chatting, of course, but eavesdropping beyond that seems rude. So he eats, works on dwarf translations and plays with dancing lights.
