"It also seems likely that we might be attacked at some point through the night, so I would suggest we choose to all stay in a singular location or make plans to meet at a specified time and place tomorrow."

"Hmm...they could be suspects, but neither of them gave me the sense of wanting to take charge of this project. However, fame and fortune can be quite the motivational tool," Rupert would say in a monotone voice. What time of the day is it currently?

We have no prior knowledge of the other two backers/brothers? And I don't think they are the Orthem brothers. I think Orthem was the patent holder, while the brothers were the backers.

"I believe that you merely hinted at an answer, but either way I don't think a straightforward answer is needed in this case. However, I'm not sure how well the public is going to take to us walking among them after this fiasco." Turning his head to regard his business partners, Rupert would continue on to ask, "Do you think it would be of benefit to perhaps disguise ourselves for the time being?"

Rupert look upon the patrician with his usually stony demeanor. After giving himself a moment to mull over the patrician's offer, an overly kind term for what was happening, he would speak up, "Just to make sure that I am on the same page as you. You believe that we are not the perpetrators of this crime and in order to prevent ourselves from being hanged for something that we did not do, you want to put us to work solving this case?.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 Rupert would put up no resistance as they were taken into custody and brought to stand, well sit, before the patrician Lord Vetinari himself. He was not sure what this was about, but he felt little need to make a bad situation worse, especially when he was as banged up as he was. Instead, he would wait patiently without a word until the patrician decided to pay them sort of attention, all the while noting the little things that might come in handy later on.

A belated Merry Christmas and an early Happy New Year to you all. Also, congratulations on getting married. I hope all goes well for you and your significant other. The holidays have had me pretty unproductive on here myself. Rupert would be interested in the following:
Male Human Rogue (Spy) 3 | HP 5/24 | AC 12 / Touch 12 / Flat-Footed 10 | Fort +2 / Reflex +5 / Will +1 | Init +2 | Perc +7
Rupert would take his time stowing his pistol away and dusting himself off before gathering up his suitcase once more. "What makes you say they were a fake team?" he would inquire when Gypsumay brings it up.
Male Human Rogue (Spy) 3 | HP 5/24 | AC 12 / Touch 12 / Flat-Footed 10 | Fort +2 / Reflex +5 / Will +1 | Init +2 | Perc +7
Rupert's movements started to get jerky as the loss of blood and unbalanced emotions, despite the seeming lack of them upon his face, mixed. So with much effort, Rupert would load his gun once more and take aim at the closest target that was still standing before loosing his shot... Pistol Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
...then, as the piece of hot lead left the barrel of his pitol, he would fall prone behind the pile of debris in an attempt to prevent any further crossbow bolts finding their target in his hide.
Male Human Rogue (Spy) 3 | HP 5/24 | AC 12 / Touch 12 / Flat-Footed 10 | Fort +2 / Reflex +5 / Will +1 | Init +2 | Perc +7
Rupert would mark the increased accuracy of his shot as another bolt comes sailing in to stab into his thigh. Gritting his teeth behind his otherwise calm demeanor, he quickly reloads his pistol once more before once again using his arm to steady his shot as he fires at their leader, caring little for his allies that seem to be hell bent on getting in the way of his shots... Pistol Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
...after let his shot fly, he quickly hobbles back behind the pile of debris near him for cover.
Male Human Rogue (Spy) 3 | HP 5/24 | AC 12 / Touch 12 / Flat-Footed 10 | Fort +2 / Reflex +5 / Will +1 | Init +2 | Perc +7
Rupert, taking account of the sound advice their enemies' leader was giving, would quickly reload his pistol with another one of his not-so-cheap alchemical rounds before popping up and using his arm as a rest to steady his aim on the leader. Let's see if the leader's advice applied to guns as well he would think to himself as he stepped forward and pulled the trigger back... Pistol Attack - First Range Increment: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
...Haha, well now if that isn't anti-dramatic...
Male Human Rogue (Spy) 3 | HP 5/24 | AC 12 / Touch 12 / Flat-Footed 10 | Fort +2 / Reflex +5 / Will +1 | Init +2 | Perc +7
Rupert would draw in a deep breath to steady himself against the pain as he once more pushes an alchemical cartridge into his gun before firing at his opponent once more. Pistol Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Just toeing that line of misfiring.

Sorry for the delay. I've only just gotten home today and I didn't want to be pulling up maps at work so you'll have a response from me soon to get things moving. As for Mr. George, I think he'll be passed out drunk in my pocket for now. He partied a bit too much earlier. After dispersing the last of the rats, Rupert had gone about a quick cleaning of his dagger before returning it to his sheath behind his back and beneath his suit jacket. Once finished, he had quickly reloaded his gun and followed after the others with his gun readied in one hand and his briefcase in the other. So it was to no one's real surprise, except maybe the unsuspecting villians of this story that Rupert quickly took cover before firing the round off at the man standing in the opening. Pistol Attack Roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Male Human Rogue (Spy) 3 | HP 5/24 | AC 12 / Touch 12 / Flat-Footed 10 | Fort +2 / Reflex +5 / Will +1 | Init +2 | Perc +7
Rupert, seeing an opportunity to put his foe at a disadvantge, would take a quick step to the right while dropping his briefcase to the ground. Then, with practiced ease, he would pull forth his dagger from it's sheath and stab at the rat. Dagger Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Male Human Rogue (Spy) 3 | HP 5/24 | AC 12 / Touch 12 / Flat-Footed 10 | Fort +2 / Reflex +5 / Will +1 | Init +2 | Perc +7
In a fluid movement, Rupert would pull one leg after the other from the assailing rodent. As he dances away, he would slip his free hand beneath his coat jacket and pull forth his pistol. Leveling it with calculating precision at the attacking rat, he would pull the trigger in hopes of dropping it dead in its tracks. With a loud boom emanating from it's barrel, a bullet would be sent speeding towards the rodent... Pistol Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
...while his emotionless face watches on. Seemingly uncaring of the results.
Male Human Rogue (Spy) 3 | HP 5/24 | AC 12 / Touch 12 / Flat-Footed 10 | Fort +2 / Reflex +5 / Will +1 | Init +2 | Perc +7
Rupert's eyes would turn to regard the troll. "I am in no way a lawyer Miss Gypsumay and why is it that I feel I must constantly remind you of such?" he would ask in his matter of fact tone. "I am an esteemed member of the Copywriters Guild and if you must refer to me in a fashion that is not my name, then pencil pusher would be a preferable term."
Male Human Rogue (Spy) 3 | HP 5/24 | AC 12 / Touch 12 / Flat-Footed 10 | Fort +2 / Reflex +5 / Will +1 | Init +2 | Perc +7
I don't ever remember seeing anything on it, are we doing average starting wealth for our cohorts? I need to know how much Mr. George the Gnome has to outfit himself and Ms. Peatree.

A young looking man in an exquisite suit, would gingerly stand from the rather crude position he had been deposited in by the fall. Once again having his feet planted firmly beneath him, Rupert would take his time in dusting himself off. In doing so, he would confirm his pistol was still at his side and that the vials in his belt were still in tact. Finally, with a sigh of relief, Rupert would go about gathering his top hat and briefcase from where they lay just a short distance away. "It seems Ankh-Morpork is showing us her good side tonight," he would say in a state-of-fact tone as he adjusts the glasses that rest upon his nose.

I hope you don't mind, but here is Rupert in his currently incomplete form. I have taken the liberty of changing some items in terms of their appearance to make them fit more thematically with the character. Such as I'm purchasing a noble outfit and fashioning it as a suit. He does keep a bandoleer on his person that he wears as a belt. He keeps vials of "ink" in it. It is worn in such a fashion that the vials are kept lined up beneath his coat so they are not normally visible to those around him. I also purchased a Masterwork backpack that I hope to refashion as a briefcase. Otherwise, I'm currently working on making his budget work. I plan on giving him a full compliment of ranks in Craft (Alchemy), something that secured his position on the team and allows him to make the drugs and poisons he uses. This being said, will you allow me to purchase the like at the discounted crafting price? Also, the Mask of Stony Demeanor describers itself as turning the wearer's face into that of a stone statue. Would you say this makes him look like a golem? I might be able to use such a look... |
