Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

"I believe the sticking point lies not with the rights of sentient undead but with the treatment of your living vassals. We believe in freedom of sentients, and their enforced servitude lies ill across our shoulders. I do not disagree with your other points, and would hardly suggest that our purpose lies at odds with one another. Please, allow us to communicate as a council and we will speak with you anon. Do you require nourishment, rest, or other necessities? We, of course, would be glad to provide such."

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

Hey I just did my level up today so don't beat yourself up too much.

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

"This seems to be quite an innovative means of government. If I am reading it correctly, your Blood Lords serve as the ruling class, making decisions and providing for the governance of the land. The Quick and Dead are similar to our landed gentry, with rights and responsibilities towards those who answer to them."

Ronald pauses significantly after this, before continuing, "We don't have an analog of your 'Thralls'. We believe every person is entitled to their own life, serving the good of the land only after they have expired. As you might tell, we don't relish the idea of living slaves or Thralls or what have you."

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate. Happy Wednesday to those who don't!

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

My focus: get the people to love us and have as many offspring as possible.

Fteeing up the 'rabble' generally leads to a decrease in population growth (per Malthus) but with some social engineering and creative fertility drugs/magic/rituals we can get new generations going post haste.

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

Winning the hearts and minds of the people should be doable.

Why don't we start an intensive kobold breeding program?

They're small and weak but in great numbers they can work wonders.

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

Sounds good to me.

PS: Happy Thanksgiving!

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

Forest under fey who answer to us? Yes I am satisfied with that aarrangement.

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

Prep spells: fly on Grey, then solid fog for foreground setting.

Invisibility on Grey to allow for nice entrance.

Lights, sparkles, fireworks from major image, with serious sound & thermal effects which fade over 3 rounds.

Leading to a framed background silent image (think Colbert Report with moving flag background).

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

Bluff I can do. Intimidate and diplomacy, not so much.

Although I can certainly add in some special effects to aid whomever is taking point.

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

I like it.

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

Talk to Melianse, get her input.

If she is unable/unwilling to take "command" of the remaining fey: use disguise to appear as the lady, combine with serious illusions and scare/bluff/ambush the rest of the critters.

Alternatively: big as display of power with dead fey chick on display tell remaining critters to yield, flee, or die.

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

So let's check out this treasure, all."

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

"So, the fey boss is dead. Perhaps we make the rest of them aware of that, and the change of lleadership imminent?"

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

"Well, that was anticlimactic. Perhaps beheading, staking, and burning are in order?"

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

Yeah, works for me, although I do have point blank and precise shot

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

Surprise round action: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18 flat-footed touch (+2 prayer, +2 invisibility, +1 point blank) for dimensional anchor, via wild arcana.

That negates the invisibility sphere for everyone in it.

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

There / not there as in displacement?

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

Ongoing spells: invisibility sphere, arcane sight, mage armor

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

Dispel followed by anchor then ennervate & undead glomp.

I also have a solid fog spell prepared so that should help as well.

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

"I have an invisibility sphere prepared, that will cover those of us not hiding. A major image can give some context to our bait, then we blast the fey with an anchor spell, any tangle bags or other debuffing stuff, then dogpile on her. As far as defensive magic, I have little prepared, perhaps someone has a protection or circle spell prepared? "

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

"This is probably as good a plan as we're going to get. Bait pretends to be bait, and the rest of us prepare to jump the fey-monster as soon as she shows. I can try to zap her with the anchor-spell, who knows if it'll work though."

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

"My illusions are good, but I don't know about a 'greater fey'. They may have all sorts of weird sensory powers or the like."

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

"Perhaps a little bird will provide some information? A recently discovered human out in the wilderness, alone or nearly so, and ripe for the taking? Woild that be something you could help up with?"

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

Still around.

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

"So, who's up for being bait? Seems to me if we get her away from her house and her supporters, it'll be a much easier job."

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

Ambush sounds good to me.

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

"Sylvan is no obstacle, Lady. I am fluent in that tongue as much as our current Taldane. So, the Dancing Lady has some kind of charm magic? Or gender and/or lust based powers? Will the others be likely to flee if she is destroyed? Or will they cling and fight to the last?"

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

Okay, if she needs 5 and we have 6, lets give her the 5 she wants and be done with it.

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

I thought we had 3. I am more than willing to give her all the fingers...that is what they were for, right?

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

"To be fair, she seemed quite distressed and unable to cope, until we put down the evil tree monster. As to more of those things, I apologize but what I hav you is what we have. We do have some significant magical abilities of our own, though."

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

"So, what can you tell us about this dancing lady and her entourage? It would seem this place has proven quite favorable for her ilk."

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

"Very well. I will respect your privacy, and look away." Ronald does just that, walking to the edge of the water with his eyes averted, before turning around entirely and holding the fingers out palm-up, behind his back.

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

"If I have your word that you do not seek to do me harm, then yes, I will bring them closer. If not, I am afraid for my safety and will leave them here for your own inspection."

Yes, offered her the dryad fingers.

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33 perception.

"I am saddened to hear you feel that way of humanity. Not all of us are mindless destroyers and despoilers. Tyressia also gave us these, freely and without request. She said they might help you."

Ronald holds out the fetishes/fingers the dryad gave the party.

To the group: "See? Not everyone out here seeks to be our enemy. If we treat them with respect and honor, we might just receive alike in return. "

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

Sylvan: "It is good to hear that you have some small amount of patience remaining, then. I consider us fortunate for that. We bring word from a mutual acquaintance; a dryad named Tyressia whom we helped with a personal matter. I must offer condolences, her lover Falchos met with a sad end at the hands of a twisted plant monster. We brought that thing low and assisted Tyressia in her grief."

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

Sylvan: "Hello? Are you the fey known as Melianse?"

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27 perception
1d20 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 16 know (arcana)

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

"Perhaps we check out the water, and see if that nymph can aid us?"

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

Was the fey creature the dryad told us about a water or plant creature?

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

"So where's this friend the dryad told us about? And what are our rules of engagement? "

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

Ronald casts arcane sight once Forsten gives his warning.

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

Do we have any aerial scouts? Flying familiars or the like? If not, Ronald may be able to sneak up under invisibility and take a look.

If using Plan Invisible Ronald:

Spoiler:
Cast invisibility, sneak 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32 (+20 if unable to see invisible things) up and see what I can see 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 perception

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 initiative

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

"So, how do we break the news to Miss Nature? Gently? Or brutal honesty?"

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

"I assume this thing was the monstrous tree the dryad was complaining about. It stands to reason her missing lover is nearby, assuming he still lives. Do we have any creatures with us capable of scent-tracking?"

Dusting off his hands, Ronald surveys the remains of the murder-tree with satisfaction.

"Nature has its place. It is too bad this particular part of nature chose to exceed its standing."

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

Yay!

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 initiative

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

Ronald's eyes and rune glow bright red for a moment before thick beams of fire stab out to impact the tree.

Move: draw alchemist fire. Standard: mythic scorching ray, using alchemists fire as alchemical power component

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15 touch; 6d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 1, 5, 2, 5) = 17 fire.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 touch; 6d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 1, 3, 4, 5) = 16 fire.

DC 19 reflex or catch fire as per alchemists fire.

5/7 mythic power remaining.

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

Find tree. Burn tree. Profit.

Human Illusionist 8/Archmage 3

"An awakened tree which hunts dreads? Quite odd, and a bit disconcerting. Do you know where we might start looking for this creature? "
