Rolvark frowns at the bodies of the dead cultists and looks around at he idols and shrines What unholy gods are these...and why are the cultists killed here instead of some sacrificial altar? He shakes his head as he realises he might never know the answer to that.

Upon encountering another locked door, Rolvark sighs and whispers "Dale, are you able to open this door? If not, what say you all to going around the other side and see if we can get the drop on the cultists? I prefer a battle where the odds are in our favor. On the other hand, time may be of the essence here as well..."

After plucking the journal out of the alchemist's hands, Rolvark smiles grimly at the alchemist "Thank you for your cooperation'

Rolvark snorts at Dale's long wooden spoon as Dale heals Obahar Why soup? Why not something hearty like stew or pudding?

As they approach the abandoned shrine, Rolvark falls in step with the Diplomat and speaks in a low voice, his face twisting like he just ate sour lemons "I just...want to...thank you...for your help with the alchemist." He pauses for a moment before continuing "However, I hope you also see the wisdom of not relying too much on parties who are not necessarily our friends"

Rolvark falls silent as they reach the shrine and Dale shushes the party. Rolvark quietly tests the door and finding it locked, whispers to the party "The door is locked. Can anyone open it?"

Rolvark turns to the alchemist with a grim face "And how far would the chosen one go to protect his secrets hmm? Especially once the guards get wind of how he was collaborating with demons that have harmed innocent citizens...if you hand the journal to us we can make sure the pathfinders put in a good word for you."

Fine, ignore meta-thinking. Rolvark has also made his arguments in character, coupled with the fact that he prefers to do things himself, is generally suspicious of people he doesn't know, and general knowledge among the Pathfinders is that Torch is a person one can't trust wholeheartedly. Hence, he is only willing to accept help from Torch if there is no other option. What's the Diplomat's motivation for accepting help right off the bat? Also, I would suggest you be more diplomatic in real life regardless of how other players like to play their games.

Where did you say we can find you again?" He mutters to the others "I would prefer we do what we can first before allying ourselves to this...Torch. I've heard those who have accepted his aid in the past have paid for it...dearly"

From a meta perspective, we haven't finished exploring all the other options yet, such as the necropolis, or even this very room to see if we can find tracks or info on the attacker. It's in our interest to fully explore everything to maximise scenario rewards as well as uncover all the story plot items/devices

Upon encountering the new statue, Rolvark pauses and listens to both Morallo and Cork's exchange. Well, guess some of the bookish ones are actually competent after all too

Seeing the hawk swoop down to engage the creature in melee, Rolvark moves in carefully to attack the statue as well with his sword.

Not too bad. Looks like they can handle themselves when things get rough after all

Hearing the exchange, he actually nods at Morallo before hefting his sword "Let's go" and heads further east.

Round 1
Rolvark curses as the skeleton engages the party and when Cork gets injured. Dammit! He steps past Domrillin in an effort to put himself between the skeleton and Cork, then swings with his greatsword with all his might...

...and unfortunately misses. His eyes narrow as he sees the diplomat flatten against the wall and yells at his direction "Don't just stand there, do something!

Rolvark takes another step to the side (5-foot step) to fully interpose himself between the skeleton and Cork, and attacks the skeleton again.

Before descending into the tunnel, Rolvark seeing how dim it is, grunts and fishes out an ioun torch from his breast pocket. He mutters a word of command, and the ioun torch activates, floating around his head and giving off a pale heat-less white light. Satisfied, he checks his weapons before heading in.

After the magic voice dissipates, Rolvark knowing nothing of the planes, shrugs and continues further in the ruins.

Upon reaching the two paths, Rolvark unsheathes his greatsword and gestures at the others to quiet down, wincing when the Diplomat calls out into the ruins. He points towards the eastern path, and whispers to the others "I think we should head east. Everyone ready your weapons or magic."

Rolvark then quietly moves towards the eastern path to scout out the area ahead.

Yet, this ruin the Captain spoke of is near the center of this city, then it must be old indeed...older than any known structure here."

Rolvark shakes Cornelius's hand firmly, nods at Morallo, and silently follows the group until they encounter Venture-Captain Diya-Akan. He leans against the pavilion, his eyes constantly scanning his surroundings. He silently reads the letters then leans back to impassively watch his companions dig into the feast.
That was barely a stroll and they already look like they would collapse. Hopefully if things get rough they are made of sterner stuff than they seem. Should let them have their fill if it will keep their spirits up. And this mission. No mention of what creature it is, and two crazy people as leads. Or maybe I'm the crazy one for even signing up for all this in the first place.

A figure suddenly appears from the maze to join the group from behind. A powerfully built man standing slightly over 6 feet tall, he has dark hair and brown eyes, with faint stubble around his chin and mouth.

Hrmm, a bunch of tenderfoots. The dwarf looks like he can take care of himself at least. Another looks like he can handle a blade too, good. The rest I wager are a bunch of bookish types. Sigh. Of course the society would have me babysit them. Well, no use moaning about it.

Rolvark clears his throat and speaks up "We were assigned to guard a caravan along a route that is well used and generally known to be safe. However, the caravan was attacked by a band of elemental thieves under Slagcrusher relatively close to the Vault beyond their normal boundaries. Even our charges, two dwarfs names Nef and Annie seemed to think it highly unusual that the thieves would attack them so brazenly.

If this incident had occurred by its lonesome, it could be brushed off as coincidence. Viewed in totality however, a more sinister picture seems to form where multiple incidents in such a short span of time have continuously targeted the Pathfinder representatives."

GM, can i looks for help outside of the barracks with this? Surely there must be someone who can help with the locks or distract the captain during the day so that the party can search the room quickly
