Hey all, I've been unable to get into the groove of this game so I am officially bowing out. Thanks for the opportunity and enjoy.

My sympathies as well.

With no skills in nature or herbalism, Roland is a bit out of his element with centaur hides, crows, and boars. He is much more acclimated to city life. He watches intently, ready for some surprise attack.

Readied action in surprise round to strike boar if it comes within melee range of Quince:
Attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30
Damage: 1d8 + 19 ⇒ (1) + 19 = 20

As he disfavors ranged weapons, Roland stands next to Quince and readies a strike if the boar comes within melee range of him and the color spray does not affect it.

Roland nods to Quince, if he wishes to engage the pig. The warrior's blade is still in its scabbard, but the nobleman looks confident that it won't stay there for long, if needed.

Perception check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26

Roland dismounts the elk and nods when someone acknowledges the smoke from the fort. "Place looks untended for and abandoned for awhile. There is some activity, perhaps cooking, going on at the fort. Maybe we can find answers there. The boar does seem like it would make a fine meal, if needed."

"I am ready and eager to start on this journey. Nice to have you along for the ride Katrina." Roland pats his elk and hope his horse lessons from his younger years at the Garess estate pay off.

Roland pats the beautiful elk and tries to accustom himself to the beast's mannerisms and habits.

"I agree that the priority should be finding the missing villagers. The mapping of the region and forging of alliances should be secondary."

I added local as well. Also replaced seeker trait with reactionary for more initiative - hope that's ok since we haven't gotten into combat.

"I am sorry for your loss, Baron and I am glad you understand personal motives. My sword is at your service." Roland bows before Baron Medvyed.

Roland stands, "I agree with our gnome friend, Sindri. For some of us, what happened to Varnhold is personal. Some us of here are not mercenaries, so with or without your blessing, we are going to investigate. It's just easier if you sanction it." Roland sits back down.

Roland sits to watch the testimonials, since he had not been to Varnhold in the past month.

I kind of liked the competitive nature of 2 aldori sword-wielders but I understand if that's not conducive. I didn't spend a feat on exotic WP since I did not think it was needed because of feat taxes. If it's needed, then I will change my feat selection.

Roland tips his glass of water at Quince. "The people of Varnhold are not strangers, sir. They're much more than that. You may count on the services of Roland Garess and my Aldori blade."

"Thank you kind gnome for your words. Roland Garess at your service. I am sure we will meet again and apologies for misjudging you."

Present
Roland's sour mood improves when he sees Cindri and manages to smile and nod at the gnome. However, his mood improves greatly, when a sight catches Roland's eye - the Aldori sword that the female warrior is carrying. Roland smirks as he makes no attempt to hide the 2 Aldori swords he is carrying, one on his hip and one strapped to his back. He nods to Layla. He had always respected the Aldori fighting style - dedicated years of his life to it- but never the rigidity of the Swordlords themselves. This will be interesting...

Past

"No, you see! My friend got vanished years ago, during the Rostland Vanishing! I'm trying to find out what's causing these vanishings so I can bring everyone back, or at least stop it from happening again! I have to believe these people can be saved. Of course I sympathize with the families, I've felt the same pain for a decade." The gnome rises, and although initially he sounded like he was trying to explain a misunderstanding, his ire seems to have been raised. "So don't you assume to know the reasons behind my motivations before you speak to me like that again, got it?" For a minute, you can see echos of the first world in the gnome's eyes, and echoes of the pain of having outlived many humans that he knew many times over. Then he blinks, and the look fades away.

"I'm sorry. Did you lose someone important to you too?"

Upon hearing the gnome's words, Roland reacts, immediately letting his anger go. "Yes...I'm sorry. I let my anger get the better of me. My fiancee...she lives in Varnhold and she's missing as well..."

Present
Roland stands in the castle, watching the others. He hoped to the gods this expedition would have success. "Water is fine for me. There is nothing to celebrate."

"You're in the right place, Ike. We're all here to find out what's happened to Varnhold." The human warrior walks over to the kneeling gnome and addresses him, "You may think this is all fun and games and wonder, but we're dealing with missing people's lives and their family's. So try to have a heart and a conscience, at least when you're around me, cuz I don't give a damn about the arcane erection you have on now - you respect these missing people! Got it?"

A young muscular warrior in his mid-20s, who had been quiet until the moment, rises from his seat and his drink, one dueling sword at his side and another on his back. "Varnhold disappeared? Are you sure?! What is your source? I thought those were just rumors." The warrior definitely has no poker face and the level of concern on his face is quite apparent.
