Female Half-Elf Magus 3
I fear you'd find using me as bait rather boring, you'd just be picking up the bodies I left. But your first one was a good point, if I stayed ahead with you I'd alert every predator in the caverns of our location. I will stay back, just don't kill anything without me.

If we're doing this here then I'd like to go, but first I have a question. You state that all positions would be given due to a meritocratic system, who and how would the best suited for the position be decided? You state that you would choose the next leader, but this has been tried before, and often when the leader chooses their successor it descends into Monarchy. While I do not think that you would simply give it to your children what stops your successors from doing so?

When Brennus and Tagolan start to dispute, Rodia walks towards them, but stops when Talirin breaks it up. After they split she approaches Tagolan. These "sheep" are afraid, and like cornered animals they will bite anything that comes there way. Rodia puts her hand on Tagolan's shoulder. We need to show them a way out of the corner, not bite back.

From her vantage-point at the back of the cavern Rodia smirks, impressed by this "Jalel"'s witty play. Revealing this any other time and few would have remembered it was his idea, but here? Here it would stick in their minds as they considered candidates for duke. Rodia snaps her fingers, and places her own light next to Jalel's as she begins to walk towards the makeshift stage. This plan of yours has potential, but it will not work with only two. She stares at the crowd, her eyes meeting those of each of its members as she says it. Not all casters are born, even if you have no power I can teach the willing. It will take time, it will be hard and you will probably fail. But we need you to try.

I think it would work well if we all strategise and run the town together as a council, and the duke is just a figure-head that says speeches and attends event and stuff, but is otherwise just another councillor. Also, thanks, but I don't think I'll be running, I'd much prefer an advisory role. |
