I totally missed the last part of your post yesterday, sorry about this!
Robin feels that she must speak up in defense of the Mouse Guard. To see their own being carried off like some common criminal was too much to bear.
"Good people!" she cries out, addressing the crowd. "The threat of weasels is all too real. But fear not! The Mouse Guard will see to it that nobody need suffer from their foulness again! We have the best fighters! The swiftest of scouts! The bravest of hearts! We will defeat the weasels, and take back the lands that were once ours! I say such mice deserve our support, don't you? Three cheers for the Mouse Guard! Hip hip!"
Orator skill 2: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 2) = 8
Assuming she's there with him, Robin scans the crowd, hoping his proclamation wouldn't fall on only mouse ears.
Sad!I guess fighting just isn't Robin's specialty.
Robin tries to avoid wincing when Dain wraps the bandages tightly around her paw, putting on a brave face.
Robin claps her hands excitedly. "Yes, we'll provide the honor guard! And, sir mouse, we promise to do everything we can to reclaim Mouse territory from the Weasels. It won't always be this way."
Robin is kind of scared of this grumbly old mouse, and keeps her mouth shut, merely looking on in concern.
Sorry guys :( I only have custody of my infant son Friday nights to Sunday nights, so I don't get a lot of computer time for those days.
Robin falters a moment from the intense gaze of the older mouse. Clearing her throat, she straightens her back and squares her shoulders. "The Guard's chief duty is to ensure the safety and security of everymouse we can, without resorting to dishonorable tactics or dirty deeds!" she says, as bravely as she can.
Acting with my Nature allows me to roll 4d6 and then I take a -1 to my Nature pool, yes? If I don't understand it correctly, just take the first die of my roll.
Nature: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 3, 1) = 7
Can't we just say, in-character, "Okay old man, you win, we'll go with you to Weaseltown?" In other words, forfeit?
What about Orator? I'm apparently a very good speaker, could that help?
Feint: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Orator dice, if applicable: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 5) = 11
"Listen, Martin," the young mouse starts, having been quiet throughout this conversation so far.
"I understand your desire to keep your initial promise, and provide your initial gift. But you have to understand that for the two lucky mice that are getting married, your safety is far more important than any heirloom. Weasels are dangerous. I think your daughter would rather have no gift at all than to risk losing her father over an old chair, no matter the sentimental value."
Posting again tonight when I get home from work. Was majorly sick yesterday, sorry.
Robin favors one leg as she makes her way across the branch and down the rope. "Rrgh. Took a nasty fall on that branch there. I think something's broken," she mutters, avoiding putting any weight on it.
"Splint me up, I can keep going," she says, seating herself on a nearby rock and holding her foot out to Ingrid hopefully.
If I use the rope from my gear to secure me first, can I get a benefit on the roll?
Also:
Skills: Fighter 2, Pathfinder 2, Scout 2, Laborer 2, Carpenter 2, Weather Watcher 2, Smith 2, Orator 2, Cartographer 2, Survivalist 2, Scout 2
Traits: Fearless (1), Steady Paw (1), Generous (1)
Gear: Spear, knitting needles, mason's tools and rope
I've used Fearless and Steady Paw in the last battle with the bird, so I can't use those until this "session" ends, right?
Do any of my skills apply to climbing trees? Pathfinder maybe?
My 4 nature dice: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 3, 4) = 11
"Okay!" the young mouse shouts, whirling around. Rubbing her paws together, she looks up the trunk of the tree, at the next. Approaching the tree, the tenderpaw easily finds some handholds, and scampers her way up.
Do I need a roll for this?
Robin hops from foot to foot, eager to race up the tree's bark, to retrieve the mailbag and glory. "Can I go after it now, sir? Oh please oh please oh please?"
"Come back here, you stupid bird!" the tenderpaw shouts at the bird's retreating backside, shaking her fist at it impotently.
She turns around to the other mice. "We can't let it escape with that mail bag. This way! I saw a nest while I was riding around on that bird's back, I can lead us there!"
Without waiting for a reply, the eager young mouse turns and is off!
"Uuugghghghh," is all Robin can manage, groaning as she clings on. "Wha? Is it defeated? Do you surrender, bird?" she asks, weakly.
Fear the Mouse wrote: Robin, Baron is making this Maneuver. It's all you can do not to be sent flying! You can offer your assistance, though. We'll let one of those rolls of yours serve as a Helping Die. Got it, my mistake
Okay, that's not something I can use my Nature on, right? Since it's not really "in a mouse's nature"?
So I have 2 points in Fighter...I have Steady Paws (1) which I would also want to use...that brings me to 3d6 right? Since nobody can aid me with a roll?
Hope I'm doing this right: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 4) = 15
Tapping my Brave trait to add another D6.
Bravery: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Robin Maneuvers in combat!: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 3, 4) = 17
"Oh no you don't! Ingrid, Dain, give me a boost! I think I can get up to its neck!" the young tendermouse shouts.
Tap nature? To do what, my maneuver roll? Sorry, still getting the hang of this!
"Hiiyyaaaa!" Robin shouts, sticking with Dain and following his lead! Assist Ingrid!: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Awesome, so I'm Fearless with a Fighter skill of 2, so can I use 2 dice for a Maneuver roll? I'd like to show off to my patrolmates against our first opponent and prove my worth! To do this, I'd like to jump at the Raven and grapple it around the throat, wrestling it to the ground!
Maneuver if this is how I do it: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 6) = 11
Oh, I added your D6 to my roll, Dain. I only have pathfinder skill of 2, so I would only be rolling 2d6 normally. Should I let you roll your assist dies?
I'll just trust in my own abilities, with Dain's help.
Smiling gratefully over her shoulder at Dain, and nodding at Ingrid's advice, the young mouse furrows her brow in concentration. She studies the path, imagining each footstep and trying to extrapolate where the walker might have gone.
Pathfinding: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 6) = 11
Sorry! I'm almost always away on weekends because I have split custody over my baby and it's the only time during the week that I see him. I will post rigorously on weekdays though.
So I get that I get +1d6 to my Pathfinder roll, and I have a skill of 2 in Pathfinding, but I looked all over the recruitment and discussion threads and couldn't find what size die to use. Is it 2d6?
Figured that might be the case! Glad you're hanging around.
"Yes, ma'am," the young tenderpaw replies dutifully. "In fact, I saw him enter the main halls of Lockhaven, below," she points downward, through the floor they both stand on. "He should still be in there, it was only moments ago that he entered. Let's go find him!" And with that, the young mouse bounds off toward the stairs leading downward.
The young mouse's face lights up. Barely able to restrain her excitement, the young mouse merely nods in acknowledgement. She manages to control her excitement enough to avoid repeatedly nodding more than once.
Robin straightens up, and wraps her cloak more tightly around herself against the cold. Seeing Ingrid, she snaps a salute, clicking her heels together as best as she can. "Good morning, Ingrid, ma'am! Bit nippy today, innit?"
Robin gazes out at the gray skies overhead, thankful that it wasn't snowing today. Despite the cold weather, Robin's heart beat warmly in her chest, for the day was fast approaching that she would be able to prove her worth on a Mouse Guard patrol. It had been her dream ever since she was old enough to have dreams, to serve proudly on the Mouse Guard. No mouse would stand in her way!
She crosses her arms resolutely with a smile.
No problem at all playing the new girl! Changing my character name from Lawrence to Robin!
*salutes* Ready to prove my worth to the Mouse Guard!
Hi guys! This is Mooshybooshy's mouse. I know that my avatar is the same as Macario's, but I figure as mice, we probably look very much alike already anyway. Maybe we can be twins!
So I hope nobody minds. If it's a big problem I can change.
I also have a preference for pregens if they're cool for everybody else, because it's my first time playing Mouse Guard. Could we get a Gameplay thread active so I can post in it and track it from my Campaigns tab?
