I've seen other post on this subject on similar subject but no official answer. When players have replayed a scenario for no credit how is it reported? Is the player omitted from the report or added with no PA?
On a side note, is there a limit on how many people that have replayed a particular scenario sit at the same table to make a table legal?
Many suggestions and comments have been given, some are very good (Zylphryx and Mergy). A lot of people are favoring doubling XP and Gold for playing up. In the long run if most people try to bend the system in favor of constantly playing up they’ll hit a Prestige Cap and won’t be able to buy high ticket items. I’m not sure if the true intent of the new rules are…was it to really stop gearing up power gamers or establishing a more balanced environment for everyone. Perhaps it’s to limit pressure that you always had to play up to be effective in PFS. I believe that the intent of a new system was that players shouldn’t feel the need to play up or be bullied to do so by other players. I’ve never been in favor of the dreaded arms race. It does exist somewhat and I do believe that season four scenarios were designed not to be a walk in the park and provided adequate challenges. Those characters that were not geared adequately and were way lower level in their required tier: did poorly, got carried, or died. If things change and players are being penalized in playing outside their tier trying to make tables legal if the new rules go in effect may become a little more problematic if many folks are not pleased with the changes. I can understand why people may feel apprehensive like they are going to lose out on potential gear and gold if they group with lower level characters. Hopefully that won’t be the case. I wholeheartedly agree with Tristan Windseeker that changing the play up/down rule was not a major problem that needed to be fixed. Then again I am speaking from my region and the coordinators here have done excellent job in grouping people together for games and have kept excellent checks and balance on players. I honestly believe that the VO’s and coordinators are the key in providing a fair and pleasant gaming experience for PFS. I haven’t seen much complaining locally here at my neck of the woods or an army of over geared characters for their level wondering about. It’s my opinion characters that level faster than usual but will hit that Prestige cap to purchase gear other than what’s available on chronicles, and how effective will a character be at high tier when they’re playing their level 10 Character with 24 Prestige? Excellent players with sound tactics are not enough if you do not have the proper gear to be effective. So that in itself is a safety which may mitigate any possible abuse and players will want their full prestige. Anyways, I’m in favor a system that doesn’t get abused within the first two months it’s implemented and keeps in the spirit of good cooperative play.

If that's not condescending... anyways, that's not the point Chris, and I am fully aware that you don't need the shirt to play. All I was implying that most of the Faction Shirt are currently unavailable in a lot of sizes and if you had one in another size and its too snug after a couple of washes or just too big could you display it in another fashion. I also know about the character folio. Society is about having fun and I find rules lawyering over semantics is kinda stupid and I know, my opinion. Regardless another roll for a botched chance sometimes is an opportunity not to be missed. And if the Shirts are truly magical then I shall use mine as a whip and put thy smackdown on no good line steppers.
Favorite Faction or Goblin D20 Shirt S....Sold Out
Having a GM only letting shirt re-rolls while enforcing that you wear your oversize Faction shirt like a art class smock..pretty stellar. Is there news of more Faction shirts being available?

I understand that folks feel that including Selective Channeling mechanic with the base feat could be considered overpowered or lessen the the challenge index of the game. With that same logic that channeling does not discriminate friend from foe with the base ability, if a cleric channels positive energy to heal his her party and there are undead present within the range I believe that burst deal damage without the cleric having to commence another channel for harm? Everyone has their valid points, I have mine. I play a heal support Cleric and do have Selective Channel because its practically needed.
I agree and like the idea of some of the feats scaling with leveling. It would help reduce in the smorgasbord of many feats that are available. I do understand that attractive feats have many prerequisites by the time you qualify you're already level 20. On another note, speaking of about feat starved classes... Clerics should have access to Selective channeling automatically without burning a feat to do so.
Did the group consist of new players to the game, or seasoned playing new characters? If they were new why teach em a a cold hearted lesson? In my opinion the whole TPK is a lil harsh especially in their first couple of mods.
A good friend of mine who's a very experienced GM said to be he'd take the kid gloves off around level 10, by then the player has a good grasp of the game, the rules, and knows what his or her character brings to the table.
I do think the improved guidelines is way better than the first draft. Society scenarios should be fun. I have seen my fair share of strict rule lawyers and GMs straight out of the Spanish inquisition, not fun. Don't be that "guy/gal". My advice, error on the side of the players..set rules but be pliable. I'm not saying you can't drop the hammer, just use it sparingly with good judgment. IMHO you're providing a service..a good playing experience for current and new society members. I do think a positive gaming session will bring in new blood and help expand our ranks within Pathfinder Society. Don't forget to smile, be friendly, and courteous. Venture Captains/ Lieutenants are your friends and are great sources of information and advice. |
