![]() Rin looked back when she heard her name. She looked even paler than she had when they entered and seemed to be on the verge of losing her lunch. This prolonged injury to the beast seemed to be taking a toll on her. The idea that she'd add her own form of pain to it just made her go whiter. "I don't have any metal. Bane metal. I've tried three of the four elements." Though her words and look on her face said no her actions said yes. Perhaps it was in hopes of expediting the creature's death. Whatever her reasons Rin blasted the beast with an icy cold ray. Action: Energy Ray with cold damage.

Once she settles on a comfortable distance she sends another blast of energy soaring forward from her had towards it. Movement: moving back until she's at the blast's max range of 30 feet from the chimera. I can't move on my phone so someone else can feel free to move for me if they have a chance.

![]() If stealth was a concern than the soft click of Rin's high heels was not helping the matter. She glanced about the foyer and took a quick look at the three doors before she realized White Knight was already swinging the doors to the larger chamber open. The harsh beastial tone had her snapping her head towards the voice. The chamber is dark but through the shadows she can make out the fantastical creature inside. "Well I'll be damned. It was literal." Rin was far more curious than frightened though the humanoid head did stir up some revulsion. It just wasn't right. "Are you the master of this keep?" Rin searches her pockets and pouches. "I've got some spare pocket lint, a hair pin, and a bit of string. May not sound like much but all three can be useful in the right situation." ![]()

![]() Rin's face falls from a curious gaze to a twisted look of horror the longer she holds the skull. The visions it shared with her were unpleasant and grotesque. But maybe it narrowed down the beasts responsible for this pile of bones. "A lion and a dragon. Black dragon if that matters at all. Ripping the flesh off the skull. Of course it could be metaphorical. Hardly an exact science." Rin set the skull back on the pile and touched no other bones. She had a hunch similar images would swim through her mind and she had no desire to see any such thing again. ![]()

![]() Rin crouches down by the pile to take a closer look at the bones along with the others. It was certainly not your average everyday sight to see. Again Rin found herself trying to dig up what was a common sight but had a hard time conjuring up specific example. She gave her head a shake to clear those thoughts out. There was already another puzzle in front of her now with more tangible evidence to follow. She'd deal with her missing pieces at a more suitable time. She stood back up and plucked a humanoid skull off the top of the pile and stared at it as if she was trying to read its now very empty mind. Examining the skull for a literal minute on the off chance Rin can glean anything with her Object Reading ability. Occultist's Object Reading:
If the item was last used no longer than 1 day ago per the occultist's class level (7 days for Rin), the occultist learns one piece of information about the last creature to use the item. This information might be a glimpse of the creature's appearance, a brief vision of what it saw while using the item, or perhaps its emotional state when it last used the item. The GM determines what information is gained in this way. "Mass graves are rarely a good sign. Perhaps these are the bodies of invaders and they are being treated as no better than animals?" ![]()

![]() Rin staggered a few steps back when the room shifted as she lost her orientation to her surroundings. When she caught herself she looked back up from the ground and let out a little gasp of surprise. "Unexpectedly arrive indeed. Weren't we just..." Rin never finished her sentence since nothing seemed quite right in the first place. She looked up and down the pathway they seemed to have been deposited on. The silence of the town was disconcerting. Where were all the people? Had they all gone somewhere like a town meeting? Or maybe to church? Neither seemed likely to leave a town quite this quiet. "I must agree with your deductions Knight. Into the courtyard then?" Without waiting for a real answer from the others Rin steps in towards the raised portcullis. An image of it slamming down closed on top of her danced across her mind but she dismissed it. Whoever, or whatever, brought them here put a lot of work into it. It seemed unlikely they'd start killing them off so quickly. ![]()

![]() Rin's mind has already moved past any concern over the orc as she pauses to examine the most mundane of details in the room. This was turning out to be quite the puzzle. Assuming the pattern continued then the last person on the ground would reveal as much as the others had about their situation. No one knew how they got here or seemed to recall much at all before being in this room. "Fascinating." Rin started to mumble to herself about the various sorts of rooms one could find in a house as if trying to remind herself what they were like. Still she couldn't actually recall any specific room besides this one. When the smaller of the two statuelike people spoke she did turn and examine him. She did like the thought of having a quirky sidekick about and this odd creature fit the description. The relationship between WKII and WPVIII suggested they were familiar with each other already. The abbreviated names on their foreheads certainly suggested they went together if nothing else. Rin reached a hand up to her own forehead to double check she didn't have her own name chiseled in and was relieved to discover she did not. In a way she was envious of the pair. It wasn't until that moment she realized how alone she felt. "It seems that we are to be comrades in this adventure. I suggest we rouse that one before we set off out of here. I would have hated to have woken up here by myself. Being confused together is much preferable to being confused alone." ![]()

![]() Rin pushed herself up to a sitting position. She blinked a few times as her eyes adjusted to the light then looked around to try to get a feel for where she was. And who she was with. She looked around for someone who looked like they had some confidence but everyone so far looked as confused as she was sure she did. What could she possibly have been doing before to end up where she was now? It was certainly unfamiliar. Mind you the feeling of her own self was a little unfamiliar at the moment as well. "I can't seem to recall how I got here either." The sound of her own voice took her by surprise. It was lighter and airy than she'd expected. Well of course that's the way it sounded. That's always how she'd sounded. Wasn't it? She couldn't recall. Slowly Rin dared to test her own legs by standing. It was a successful endeavor though she was curious what would possess her to choose to wear such high heels. She leaned down to pull up a stocking that had slipped down to below her knee then adjusted the frills around her skirt that had gotten crumpled while she'd been on the floor. The rest of her seemed to be in place except the off center goggles crowning her champagne blonde hair which she didn't seem to notice. Once she figured herself to be presentable she turned her sharp blue eyes on the others in the room. Quite a mismatched group in her opinion. None of them, including herself, seemed to match. At least the room held familiar features to her. Lamps, desks, walls. Pretty standard for a room. Still she didn't know this room and couldn't think of another she'd ever encountered before. Surely she'd been in many rooms before! She tried to drum one up to to the front of her mind but it was like trying to cup water in her hands. Trivial thoughts like that could be dealt with later she supposed with a soft sigh. "And I'm not an evil spirit, I am Rin." Better to clear that up now before that man got up in arms over the peculiar situation. He looked like he could handle himself if he chose to pick a fight with any "evil spirits" where as Rin was almost certain the best she could do back was step on a toe with her inappropriate footwear. ![]()

![]() OH RIGHT! My feat! I was going to ask if taking something like Craft Wondrous Item would be practical for the campaign. It seems thematic with the Occultist but I know lots of campaigns don't really have time for crafting like that. Brewing potions only take a max of two days so I was less concerned about making time for that. Rin is sitting at 29 lbs currently carried once you add up all the little bits. She's definitely encumbered. If she drops her backpack she's at 21 lbs which is just under her light load. If you want to hand wave that in favor of what you suggested you'll have no complaints from me! I've got real skill points in a background skill right now, specifically Sleight of Hand. Did you want me to mark it as a background skill as well or just mark the skills where the extra background skill points went? Also with the way Focus Powers work for Occultist it makes it so that certain bonuses fluctuate depending on how much Mental Focus I put in each day to the various Implements. Rather than trying to update my crunch that frequently, which I'm sure I'd mess up royally doing so, I'll keep the bonuses reflected in the profile tag. For example Rin's Third Eye ability grants her a +3 insight bonus to Perception, Profession, and Sense Motive checks, a +1 to all Knowledge skill checks, and darkvision. I've updated the profile tags to reflect those changes but her crunch is just her basic stats. ![]()

![]() Hello everyone! I'm so glad to have been chosen along with you all. I'm excited to play the Occultist myself since I got the book. I think there was so much fluff mixed in with the mechanical explanation of the class that a lot of people found it overwhelming and overlooked it. Once you strip it of fluff it's not so hard to understand the mechanics. That might be true for a lot of the Occult Adventures book actually now that I think about it. Right now for work I'm really unpredictable since one of the girls has gone on leave. All the part timers are being handed off the hours so they can avoid a new full time hire. That does impact my post rate and post times but I'll have no problem getting in here one to three or maybe four times a day depending on what hours I'm thrown. I'll be taking a look at all your profiles tonight for some bedtime reading. Sounds like a wonderful mash up of concepts just based on the bits I already know! |
