![]() Interested. Made this character alias for a LoF game that burned out pretty quickly here on the boards, would love another chance to play him. I’m familiar with the first module of the AP, but no subsequent modules. I’ll rework his stats/levels etc to your specs within the next 24 hours. If his basic premise/fluff is a definite no-go for you please let me know. You can check my in character posts for examples of how I intend to play him. Stat: 5d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 1, 6, 1) = 16 = 14
I’ll be voluntarily taking lower Int and Wis scores if my character concept is okay. ![]()
![]() My submission: Redeemed, Human Oracle of Flame. I briefly used this character in a LoF game whose DM quickly dropped out; please see this profile for character details and let me know if the concept is something you'd be willing to consider. If so I'll edit crunch to fit your guidelines (5 less stat buy; drop the drawback, one trait, and background skills; review equipment.) Profile's prior posts show my RP style with him. I really like the character concept and would love the opportunity to play him again; I'm open to changing the specifics of his build if desired. I've never read the AP (except for the Player's Guide) and only played the first module up to an encounter in a ruined church. I can post at least twice a day during the week, but am unable to guarantee weekend posts. I am in the US at GMT-4 and would be posting in the morning and again in the afternoon/evening. Let me know what you think - either way I appreciate your time and consideration. ![]()

![]() Alright, folks, it's been 8 days since GM Shahryār last posted, so I'm going to consider this game dormant. ![]() ROUND 4, cont'd Redeemed curiously studies the nearest pugwampi, all too aware how unsettling its presence seems to be to him. It shakes itself all over in a bestial fashion as it stands, briefly creating an aura of dust and mold about itself. Noting Redeemed's interest, it snarls and yips at him as it raises its tiny hand in a strange gesture - an upturned fist with a single finger extended. Is this a greeting? Or some ward against judgment? Redeemed extends his right arm towards the tiny creature and with his blackened hand he mimics the gesture. "You are full of sin. I shall free you from it." ![]()

![]() ROUND 4 Redeemed seems not even to notice the arrow that sails across the chapel to stick in his arm, though it has obviously pierced his armor. When the rafters collapse, he slowly lopes forward down the stairs into the thin cloud of dust, picking his way through the debris towards the pugwampis struggling to their feet. Gnasher has brought them to the ground. Gnasher is clever. Now I may burn them away. Behind the Scene: Full Round: double moves towards the pugwampis, spending 2:1 movement for every square after stairs, per map; Swift/Free: none. ![]()

![]() ROUND 3 Redeemed stares at Gnasher as he swings wildly at the rafters, the strange bat-creature, now much smaller, flying about the gnoll like a moth around a flame... Moths burn. They must be full of sin. But they seek out the flame. Redeemed doesn't even notice as the wooden boy launches another acidic orb past him and into the chapel, so completely taken in is he by the strange dance of gnoll and bat. Moths must be very repentant. Is the bat is repentant as well? ![]()

![]() Redeemed has very little ranged capabilities; if the pugwampis could be brought to the ground floor, he may be able to catch several within a burning hands, which handily doesn't require any d20 rolls. ![]() Redeemed stands facing the monastery once again, staring into its shadowed depths, the conversation behind him now passing unheeded. From within the dim recesses of the ruins echo the sounds of baboons and something more sinister, promising danger. This is the ruined place. It is full of sin. He is a good man. I will keep them safe from sin. Dropping his hand back to his side, Redeemed looks to the party. The sorry man. The wooden boy. I will keep them all safe from sin. If you haven't seen this sight it may help, it helped me when I started. Thanks! The linked thread did have some useful tips, and asking questions is an easy "in" that I think I'll take advantage of once Redeemed is a little more comfortable with the party, i.e. after our first real challenge faced together. For me the ability to do internal monologue is one of the greatest strengths/draws of PbP; sitting around the table nobody really wants to hear about what your character is thinking, just what they're doing and saying. I'm hoping it will allow for a greater depth of character than traditional gaming. ![]()

![]() Redeemed unclasps his helm and, following Gnasher's lead, draws the rib bone out of his own belt. Quietly chanting his Ignan incantation causes the bone the char, then he begins gnawing on it through the mouth-hole of his leather mask while Almah inspects the pugwampi. There is little meat on this bone. I do not think it worth eating. But Gnasher enjoys it. He crunches on he bone. Testing his teeth on one end of the bone, he succeeds in cracking it open and reaches the marrow within. Ah! There is more food hidden inside! Gnasher finds treasure that others throw away. Gnasher is clever. And quick. And a dog. Engrossed in his snack, Redeemed forgets Almah until she speaks again. He halts his meal and listens, bone in mouth, as she lays out their next task. He nods along with the others' agreement. Once dismissed, Redeemed finds a promising looking rock and squats down next to a campfire, taking out his hammer and smashing the rock to pieces before singing to himself in Ignan while reassembling it. "વસ્તુઓ તોડી શકે છે કેવી રીતે સરળ છે તે જુઓ ,
Ignan:
”See how easy things can break,
If it's crooked make it straight; Things in pieces, things in knots, Things that crumble in tiny parts. Some are twisted, some are cracked, Some been bended 'til they snapped. Things are mended, things are glued, I have done the best I can do.” He repeats the process until he grows tired, at which point he puts away his hammer and curls up on the ground to sleep. *** The next morning, Redeemed listens carefully to Garavel's instructions, repeating them back to remind himself and to show he understands. "We must cleanse the monastery of sin. So all will be safe there." Redeemed accepts the vial from Zastoran. Trying to make sense of the unhappy man's instructions, he handles it very carefully as he stows it in his fine backpack. This is very valuable. I must give it back tonight. It is not for drinking. ![]() Redeemed waits silently through Dashki’s explanation and the subsequent conference with Alma, trying to follow the discussions of guilt and proof, wishes and luck. Once ordered to go looking for pugwampis, he follows the others out into the desert night. It is very dark. Alma says to find a pugwampi. She commands Garavel. We do not wait for the sun. ![]() Redeemed bows his head in deference and greeting to Father Zastoran, and gestures at Zagathoth. "I am Redeemed. I protect against sin. He is Gath. He is a good man. You are a healer. You helped those who were hurt. "What do you know of the fire? Was it born from sin?" There was a man inside. He burned. He might be the cause. "Was the man inside full of sin?" Let me know if/when you'd like me to make any rolls. ![]()

![]() Redeemed pauses, looking from Almah to Priscilla, Priscilla to Zagathoth, considering the conundrum he has been presented. She is Almah. She commands Garavel. She is Priscilla. She writes things. He is Gath. He is a good man. They will let me speak with people. About fire. About the burned. I should speak thus. ”I will speak with people. The man helping the wounded. The woman cleansed by fire.” Redeemed waits for several long moments, waiting to see if anyone objects; if not, he moves off into the camp to seek those he mentioned. ![]()

![]() Redeemed glances at Almah then quickly lowers his eyes, the sight of her causing his head to burn hotter. Staring at a cushion, he listens to her entreaty. She commands Garavel. She tells me I am innocent. The fire was… sin. I do not understand. I am innocent. But someone here is guilty. Redeemed speaks, his voice made strange and hollow by his helm. ”I am Redeemed. I will protect against sin.” He slowly looks around at the others gathered in the tent, then points to each of them in turn. ”He is Gath. He is a good man. He dances. She is Contessa. She writes things. She is Mital. She cooks things. He is…” Redeemed seems to struggle for a few moments, pointing at Nemeris. ”…he is a man. He stays in his tent. He is Gnasher. He is a dog man. He watches the watchers.” He turns back to face Almah. ”We help Garavel. We will help him find the guilty.” Behind the Scene: It doesn’t seem like anybody else is piping up, so if there’s enough time, Redeemed will make a Diplomacy check of: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26 to try and butter up Almah with his simple, honest charm. Or his exhausting, boring speech, depending on the roll.
Simple, honest charm it is! Like a freakishly attired child, or a dog that has learned to talk. Oh, wait, we already have one of those! ![]()

![]() ”I am Redeemed.” He stares at the man’s trembling hands for a moment before leaving him, wandering through the chaotic scene and looking for any other wounded. Have others burned? Others to awaken from fire? If he finds anyone injured and staying in place, he will heal them; if not, he eventually makes his way before the blazing Sultan’s Claw, where he stands transfixed by the sight. Behind the Scene: Perception: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (5) - 3 = 2 to find more wounded, and casts cure light wounds for: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 HP if the opportunity arises. ![]()

![]() Beautiful. They are burned. Heal burned. Stay burned. Redeemed thinks of his old skin, hiding beneath his new, and shudders. Stay free from sin. Redeemed breaks out of his trance as his camel suddenly starts forward at a much more vigorous pace. Steadying himself on the saddle, he looks up just in time to see the tree burst into flame – a twisted, skeletal claw wreathed in glorious fire, grasping at the sky. He holds his right hand up before his face, adjacent to the Sultan’s Claw, and compares the two. Beautiful. There is a woman shouting at Garavel, then she seems to look right at Redeemed and shout - ”Find some way to help!” Redeemed looks about, seeing Garavel, Zagathoth, the dog man, and others racing about to help either pull things away from, or put out, the fire. Confused, he dismounts from the camel as best he can, the creature’s frantic gait making it more difficult than usual for him to think. What are they doing? Fire burns sin. I do not understand. Why do they save sin? Slowly walking towards the blaze amidst the chaos, unsure what to do, Redeemed comes upon the untended, injured figure. He stops, squatting down beside them, and sees they're covered in burns. Despite this, they seem to still struggle for life. ”Your sins have burned away. You are very lucky.” He reaches out a gnarled hand, placing it upon the figure’s forehead. ”તમારું જીવન મારા આગ પર ફીડ્સ, શરીર અને આત્મા ઘાવ બંધ.”
Ignan:
”I lend my fire to rekindle yours, to mend the body and cleanse the soul.” Seeing that they have been saved from death, Redeemed leaves whatever burns remain. They will scar. Scars will remind them. Remind them of fire. Remind them of sin. Satisfied, Redeemed looks about to see if there are any others he can assist who have been cleansed of sin and yet survive. Behind the Scene: I'm not sure if we're doing round by round here; if we are, it'll take two rounds for Redeemed's actions. Round 1 Movement: Dismount; Standard: Move to injured figure.
Round 2 Standard: Casts cure light wounds for: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 hit points of healing on the injured figure. EDIT: Changed some of Redeemed's thoughts at the end - sounded a little too preachy.
