I was bored, decided to see what is included in the pouch, purely out of curiosity. And fun, because it gets kinda absurd quite fast. Thus far I've gone through spells starting with the letter A, going to continue though. I think I missed a focus or two before checking that they're also usually included.

A
a piece of metal cut from a shield
piece of seaweed
a thorn from a poisonous plant
a single piece of ammunition
a thorn
rhubarb leaf and an adder's stomach
powdered peas and an animal hoof
a glass lens
a rabbit’s foot
a small piece of doppelganger flesh
a piece of a tree struck by lightning
flower or piece of grass
a small bladder filled with air
a goose feather
a tiny bell and a piece of very fine silver wire
a pinch of salt and pepper
silt from a dry riverbed
a piece of the creature whose form you plan to assume
a part of the animal
a morsel of food the animal likes
a swatch of black cloth
a small pulley
a humanoid thumb bone
pinch of powdered iron or iron fillings
a lump of alum soaked in vinegar
pinch of rust
an ape or monkey paw
a drop of water and a glass bead
a spent wand
a bit of bat fur
arrow or crossbow bolt
a pinch of ash
burning incense
a piece of flesh from another creature of your species
powdered bone
a white feather
a miniature magnifying glass or spectacles

So, I'm from Finland, but I thought that it might be interesting to attend a foreign con for once. I go to a lot of cons here in Finland, and help organize one of them (Tracon, a anime and gaming convention). But I also realize that conventions in Finland tend to be kinda different from conventions in other countries. Like we never have them in hotels, they're always fan-organized, there is a heavy emphasis on having lectures, panels, etc. besides the actual gaming. Like here is the website of the largest RPG con in Finland, Ropecon, for reference: http://2015.ropecon.fi/en/rope-what/ (The name comes from "roolipeli" which is finnish for RPG).

So, I'd just like to hear from people who have been to Paizocon UK about what's it like. Does it sell out? If so, how fast? What is there to do besides sitting down and playing PFS? How does one sign up for games? All kinds of stuff like that, to finalize my decision whether to come or not.

Thanks in advance.

Silver Crusade 3/5

I read this scenario having decided to run it in the near future. Couple of things that have slipped through the editing caught my eye during the first, cursory read.

1) This is mostly a heads-up. The NPC who is captured by the boss is referred to as both Hamade Sora and Ryoto Ryu. At least it seemed to me that both names refer to the same person. It really doesn't matter which one the name actually is, but I think Hamade Sora would be better to avoid any confusion with the name of the boss, Lord Rybos.

2) On page 15, when describing area A11 there is a sentence that ends abruptly in the middle. "The improvised pool is murky enough to provide
concealment against any attacks that travel through 20 feet or more of water, and a PC must succeed at a DC". I guess I just have to skip whatever the DC would have been for unless the scenario writer clarifies things before I run it, though I'm intrigued about what it would have been.

This thing:

Wanderlust
Source: Advanced Race Guide pg. 1, Advanced Player's Guide pg. 1
Halflings love travel and maps. Halflings with this racial trait receive a +2 bonus on Knowledge (geography) and Survival checks. When casting spells or using abilities that provide or enhance movement, halflings treat their caster level as +1 higher than normal. This racial trait replaces fearless and halfling luck.

Specifically this part:

When casting spells or using abilities that provide or enhance movement, halflings treat their caster level as +1 higher than normal.

This is kinda vaguely worded. Does it only refer to spells that give you more speed (such as Longstrider) or a new form of movement (such as Touch of the Sea)? Or would anything that has to do with movement be affected? Such as Feather Step? What about Jump, which clearly lets you move further away but mechanically doesn't mention movement at all?

And when it comes to changing shape things get even more complicated, as many transformations change your movement somehow, but this is kinda a secondary effect and would make the "Wanderlust" a bit too strong, I guess.

So, the situation is as follows:

For a while, I didn't have any characters beyond level 1 and all the scenarios in our area were higher-level ones, so I kept playing pregens for a while. Most of these chronicles went to the same character, my then level 1 cleric. Not a totally new character, he had played First Steps parts 1 and 2 at the time. At this point he is level 2 character.

At that point we all thought that the chronicles activate when the character reaches the tier the scenario was played on. Because of this, my character has 5 chronicles played with level 7 pregen on him. Three of these are tier 5-6, two tier 7-8. I thought this was all well and good. But the updated Guide to Society seems to say that the chronicles activate when the character reaches the level of the pregen played, in this case 7. This means that I can't have more than 3 chronicles of those 5 on this character. What should I do?

If I could, I'd like to give last to of the chronicles to another character that could still have them, because they couldn't have actually been given to the character they're on now. I'd prefer my newly level 7 paladin, she has one scenario played on level 7 so she could still fit them, and she did already exist when the scenarios were played, so I could have given them to her as well as the cleric. But if this is not allowed, I could give them to a totally new character or something. I just hope they wouldn't go to waste, as they're on the wrong character only because the rules were unclear on the matter.

I played In Wrath's Shadow yesterday. Three people in our group played with level 7 pregens. All survived, so we got the chronicles. During pondering which character we should assign the chronicle to, a question arose. You're supposed to decide which of your characters to give the chronicle to when you get it. The characters are probably low-level ones, so it in this case (level 7, remember), it will take quite a lot of games to reach the point where chronicle can actually be used. What if the character dies before that? Does the chronicle gained with the pregen just go to waste?
