Liberty's Edge

I would love to do a Kitsune Staff Magus, someone already suggested magus but I had a character from a writing forum I'd love to bring back, and I was going to be less focused on channeling energy through my weapon and more just kind of an arcane knight type deal, half martial half caster.
Stat 1: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (2, 4) + 7 = 13
Stat 2: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 1) + 7 = 14
Stat 3: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 5) + 7 = 18
Stat 4: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 5) + 7 = 15
Stat 5: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 1) + 7 = 13
Stat 6: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 1) + 7 = 14

Liberty's Edge

Using the custom weapon rules would and dropping the swift action eject (because there's not a thing for that) and the perception check (also not a thing) they would cost 4 gp and have the same stat block. From what I've read the custom weapon rules are a little broken, lol. I would also be very happy if I could potentially craft them for half price using craft (traps) with the appropriate rolls.

Liberty's Edge

I just combined the spring blade and the spring loaded wrist sheath rules. I didn't realize anyone had posted so my character link is in my last post. I just edited it.

Liberty's Edge

Could I propose a custom item? I've always wanted to build this and I think I've found a way to make it more than reasonable.

Hidden Blade
Cost 75 gp Weight 2 lb
Damage 1d3 (small), 1d4 (medium); Critical x2 Range -; Type P or S; Special -
Category Light; Proficiency Simple
This 4-inch blade is attached to a modified spring-loaded wrist sheath. With a flick of the wrist, a spring thrusts the blade outward, where it locks into place until it is reset. Releasing the blade is a swift action, and resetting it is a full round action. A hidden blade is easy to conceal: an observer must succeed at a DC 22 Perception check to notice the hidden blade. You can only wear one hidden blade, or wrist sheath per arm. You may hold, but not wield, a weapon or other object in a hand while the blade is ejected. You cannot use a hand weilding a hidden blade for spellcasting.

I thought with the Kobolds natural trap building abilities if anyone were to figure out a way to build hidden blades they would. Assuming everyone is okay with the hidden blades here's my character: presenting Alt.

Liberty's Edge

what level are we starting at?

Liberty's Edge

Alright, I'm making an unchained rogue for this. Will be be doing a lot of underground stuff or should we grab dayraider

Liberty's Edge

I personally vote for a point buy, my highest stat being a +3 mod is kinda sad, lol. I guess I'm on a 33 point buy though so I can't complain too loud. I'd like at least two 18/17s to eat that -4 and still have a decent couple stats

edit:I took to long typing this, lol. IGNORE ME!

Liberty's Edge

I haven't scheduled my next semester in college but I'm definitely free on the weekends, and I could probably handle after 5 as well.
Stat 1: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 5, 5) = 17 dropping 1, 6+5+5=16
Stat 2: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 6, 1) = 13 dropping 1, 6+4+2=12
Stat 3: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 5) = 18 dropping 2, 6+5+5=16
Stat 4: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 3, 3) = 11 dropping 2, 3+3+3=9
Stat 5: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 3, 6) = 18 dropping 3, 6+6+3=15
Stat 6: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 1, 4) = 15 dropping 1, 6+4+4=14

Liberty's Edge

I can see this being super fun, I'd be down to make a character for this sort of campaign.

Liberty's Edge

Sorry, my idea was a little out there. I didn't want to put all the work in to make a while sheet to have my idea vetoed based on the backstory. I believe the only thing you wanted that isn't in the backstory would be one of Cayde's fears. I suppose his deepest fear is probably that his father is found and assassins are sent after him, though after all these years he knows it's unlikely.

Cayde Kano.

Liberty's Edge

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by the crunch? The Silk Road connects Kara Tur and Faerun, and Wa is a country in Kara Tur so I suppose you could say that? As far as archetypes I was going to go Legate, Oath if Vengance, and Tempered Champion, so leaning heavily towards fighter but with some neat divine tricks. I'll put together a sheet for Cayde later today and post a view link to the google doc

@Fire Drake-whats the fun if it's not hardmode?

Liberty's Edge

Yeah there is a PbP tag but I notice a lot of people don't use it/I'm stupid and can't find it. Regardless I actually really like the idea of this so I'ma throw my hat into the ring.

Cayde Kano:

Heishiro was student of this famous warlord in Wa, but the warlord was betrayed by one of his generals and his castle was destroyed. Heishiro managed to escape while his master held the general’s soldiers off. With his master’s sword he stowed away on a ship headed for the Cold Lands despite taking an arrow while escaping. He was found by the ship’s crew after he passed out from blood loss hiding in a barrel. The crew’s doctor nursed him back to health and he worked on the ship for the rest of the time to pay off his voyage.

Heishiro walked into Knobs Mine without a single coin in his purse and nothing of value on him but his master’s sword. He’d been running since landing at port, fearing that assassins or worse might be after him. He was half starved and half frozen so when he finally found shelter in the towns tiny inn for the night he would have happily done just about anything for a warm meal and a night indoors. He knew a little common from his studies and a little more from the ships crew, though they had people willing to translate for him. He could communicate vaguely, but couldn’t hold much of a conversation. The townsfolk didn’t take to kindly to the foreign boy in their town with a strange sword and a half vacant, half dangerous look in his eyes, but they didn’t confront him. Nothing happened in their small town, no reason to stir up trouble.
Heishiro walked into the inn and simply asked to pay for a meal in the best way he could. It was a bit of a struggle but the inn keeper was a kind man, and he took pity on him. The inn keeper made a deal with Heishiro, if he would keep his sword out of sight he could do chores around the inn and be paid in a bed and hot meals till he decided to leave.

Heishiro never did end up leaving the village. He settled down and helped with the inn as best he could, learning common and other crafts. He hid his sword in a locked chest in the attic of the inn but if anyone was interested in looking he could be spotted training behind the inn hours before dawn, when no one was around. The townsfolk got used to the foreign boy, and the inn keeper voguing for him was all many of them needed. There was gossip of course, as people are want to do in villages, rumors spread about the strange foreign boy who’d appeared one day and become a part of their lives.

Heishiro eventually married a woman in the village and they lived together in the inn that Heishiro had ended up running when the inn keeper and his wife died. Their child had left long ago so the inn was left to Heishiro. He ran the inn well, though it haunted him that he seemed to get much in life from the deaths of those around him. Rose eventually bore Heishiro a son. He grew up doing chores around the inn, learning the trade as well as his fathers code. Heishiro had integrated into the village, but he never gave up his code of honor, and he passed it onto his son.
Cayde learned of the sword and of honor from his father, from his mother he learned of the gods and their places in his life. He tried to take all their teachings to heart. His father taught him a bit of Wa-an during their training. Cayde grew up hearing whispers of the rumors that had started about Heishiro over the years, but not often enough or from enough people to make him bitter. A few children bullied him about being foreign, but for the most part no one seemed to care about his heritage. When the officers rode into town Cayde dropped what he was doing and followed them. Nothing ever happened in his home town, he wouldn’t dream of missing this. When the decree was made he almost volunteered on the spot. He’d been training with his father for years and he wasn’t going to miss the chance to use what he’d learned. His father might be content hiding in their village, but he was going to take this chance and make something of himself.

Cayde's Personality:
Cayde is the quiet type, he had a few friends but even as a child wasn't someone of many words. He would watch and listen instead of jumping into something. Which isn't to say that once he did jump into something he didn't jump in with both feet.

Cayde's Build:
Religion, honor, and swordplay making up a lot of Cayde's life he is going to be a Paladin, but much more offensively oriented than a normal paladin build. Thinking he's invincible he has a bad habit of throwing himself at the enemy without thinking.
Cayde's always been a bit of a loner so he'd like to use this as an opportunity to bond. It would also amuse me greatly to see his overconfidence get dashed as he faces enemies as good (better?) than he is.

Liberty's Edge

I can flush out my build a bit if you would like to see my plans. I don't have every one of my feats and stuff picked out bit I can add a build page to my sheet with my basic plans

Liberty's Edge

No worries, Zonan is officially done, backstory and skills are now properly included. I will probably look over various equipment and add things to his inventory but feats, traits, stats, ect are locked.

Liberty's Edge

Are you potentially going to be using the Feat Tax Rules by any chance? You didn't say anything so I assumed not but thought I'd ask. No worries either way, and good luck with your move

Liberty's Edge

Zonan Hookstenges

Starting Wealth: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Level 2 HP: 1d8 ⇒ 1

Liberty's Edge

Roll: 4d4 ⇒ (4, 1, 3, 1) = 9
Roll: 4d4 ⇒ (4, 3, 3, 2) = 12
Roll: 4d4 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 2) = 10
Roll: 4d4 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 3) = 12
Roll: 4d4 ⇒ (2, 3, 4, 3) = 12
Roll: 4d4 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 3) = 12

Edit
So it would be:
4+1+3+6=14
4+3+3+6=16
3+3+2+6=14
4+3+3+6=16
4+3+3+6=16
4+3+3+6=16
I can work with that, chracter coming soon

Liberty's Edge

Man I can't handle the anticipation! Come on! Tell us! DO IT!

Liberty's Edge

I would be playing a Fighter using the Brawler Archetype. My goal would be making a character that exclusively uses a shield as a weapon.
Brawler-using archive, they quote and cite the book. Not familiar with the source you mentioned. Is this alright?
Starting Level: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Hp 2nd Level: 1d10 ⇒ 9

Edit: Is each character starting at the level the rolled or are we somehow averaging it? Because if people are starting at 4 and 5 and I'm level 2 I'm going to be outmatched the whole game, lol

Liberty's Edge

I would be interested in playing in this campaign. Character details upcoming

Liberty's Edge

I would be all for using the feat tax rules.

Liberty's Edge

You listed my character twice, lol. Does that mean I'm twice as likely to get picked :)

Liberty's Edge

Background:

He was student of this famous warlord in Wa, but the warlord was betrayed by one of his generals and everyone loyal to the warlord was killed. Heishiro managed to escape with his masters sword and stow away on a boat despite being hit by an arrow while escaping. He was found by the ships crew after he passed out from blood loss but not knowing that he was important in any way they decided to nurse him back to health and drop him off at an orphanage in Selgaunt. His masters sword was sold to a wealthy collector to pay for some of his bills. When Heishiro turned 16 he went to the collector and asked that his masters sword be returned, but of course a sword crafted for a master isn't cheap, so Heishiro ended up as a guard for caravans of goods to "work off his debts". Of course the collector never intended to return the sword, but after being the soul survivor of an attack on a shipment of gold the collector decided his debt had been paid, as Heishiro could have just as easily pointed the collectors caravan the other direction and stolen all his gold. After working for the collector for two years Heishiro was glad to be free of him and set off to make a name for himself and find a home of some sort in this foreign land. Heishiro is slow to trust but loyal to his friends, honorable, charitable, sarcastic, and pretty introverted.

I like the idea that Heishiro is still attempting to follow the Path of Enlightenment but since he has not been in a land that follows it for so long it's sort of been eroded and changed a bit as he's been exposed to various things throughout the years. (I combined bits of the code of Shizuru and the Path of Enlightenment. I looked into the worship of Shar but it doesn't really mesh)

Path of Enlightenment:

My blade will be as steady as the sun and my training will be as consistent; I shall respect what I have mastered and seek to impart this training to others.

I will honor that which has gone before me. For the past is eternal.

My personal honor reflects on my ancestors and my liege; I will conscientiously maintain my reputation for the sake of theirs, even on the battlefield.

Engage in no base thing, nor commit murder, for to strike another in the name of anger is not li.

As I respect the Emperor of Heaven, so will I respect my sworn liege.

Do honor to those you must rule, for under the eye of Heaven, they are your equals. Be fair to those you rule

Liberty's Edge

I'll throw my hat into the ring. I wrote up a character for a campaign that just fell apart and I've been itching to play him. I can pm you all the details but he's a samurai-esc paladin character.

Liberty's Edge

My character would be someone who never quite felt right in the world, someone who felt like they were born to be something different and for some reason what they were in a mixup and ended up being born in the wrong place. They always felt like they were supposed to go on this grand adventure that just never started. So they feel like this new world is where they were supposed to be this whole time.
My character probably also had some anger problems before, like they always felt like if they let their guard down too far they would hurt someone, so they were this calm, collected, distant person with this under layer of brute force and rage. An alchemist who was flavored as just a weak castor with his extract just being him releasing his rage as it were would probably work pretty well for this character.

Liberty's Edge

I posted on your other thread as well but I'd like to throw that character back in the ring for this as well. I had already flushed him out and was prepped up to start a home brew before the group fell apart. I was going to do a samurai character using swashbuckler, paladin, and bloodrager as my classes. I have a full write up of his backstory and such that I can send upon request

Liberty's Edge

I would go with the first set

Liberty's Edge

I would be playing a samurai type character using Paladin with several archetypes as my main class and one level dips into both swashbuckler and bloodrager for a more anime-esc feel. As a paladin my alignment would be lawful good but I'm not a huge fan of the judgy paladin achetype so no need to worry about be ruining other peoples plans/fun. I have a digital sheet set up on google docs that I can make some edits to. Pm me for a full background write up and view permissions for the google doc. His basic backstory is that he fled from Tian Xia

First Set
Favored: 1d3 + 15 ⇒ (2) + 15 = 17
Favored: 1d3 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18
Normal: 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Normal: 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Unfavored: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Unfavored: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

Second Set
Favored: 1d3 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18
Favored: 1d3 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18
Normal: 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

Unfavored: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Unfavored: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

Liberty's Edge

If you're still looking for players I would be interested in playing. Liberty's Edge

Yeah, those were kinda the answers I was expecting, just wanted to be sure

Liberty's Edge

An Id Rager with the Dedication Emotional Focus gains the aditional powers of the Dedication Phantom, one of which is Iron Will, but only gains these powers while raging. Iron Will gives you an untyped +2 bonus to will saves.
1. While not raging I don't have Iron Will, so I could take Iron Will as a feat?
2. If so do the bonuses from the feat Iron Will and the Emotional Focus Iron will stack? I would assume not since they're from the "same" source.
3. If I was raging while I chose my feat would I be able to take Improved Iron Will/while not raging do I still count as having Iron Will for prerequisites?
3a. If I was able to take Improved Iron Will would I only be able to use it while raging?

Wow...I feel so dumb. Thank you. Curses google, why did you fail me?

Liberty's Edge

So I play PFS and I'm trying to build a ninja. I've been looking at using the Extra Rogue Talent feat to pick up a few extra tricks. As far as my long and weary quest has told me there is no FAQ or official ruling on this. Some people argue no because the Ninja Trick Class Feature isn't the Rogue Talent Class Feature and everyone on the other side says yes because almost every class has a feat to grab more class features like that and it was probably just an oversite. So I was just wondering what your oppinion was oh great and powerfull knower of the things, and writer of the stuffs.

Liberty's Edge

So I'm sure this is illegal somehow but I have a character concept that basically a barbarian who uses twf. My question is if I was using a bastard sword (or similar weapon that counts as one handed) why can't I two hand it for the first attack, then let it go with one hand (free action) to then use my second attack with an unarmed strike basically getting full barb damage and a free hit to boot. Like I said very much doubt it's legal but knowing exactly why would be nice.

Liberty's Edge

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I mean only if they deserve it of course. I'm more looking for how to make it so rather than who would approve, lol. I was thinking I might be able to go MS 1/Fighter 3/Juggler Bard 2, but that doesn't give me a very solid stat block. For feats I could just take Improv Wpn Prof, Dodge, Mobility, and Deft Shootist but that's a pretty large feat tax before even adding Precise Shot and Point Blank

Liberty's Edge

The Beneficial Bandolier isn't pfs legal. I was thinking I could skip barb with that feat I mentioned but the stat boosts do keep mad down. I shouldn't need more than maybe like 10 rounds of rage because pfs generally doesn't have too many long fights.

Liberty's Edge

So I was looking through the gods listings and I noticed that a worshipper of the god of ale, if they have a level in fighter can trade shield proficiency for the ability to use a mug as a weapon (light mace) and I had this idea of a pirate who goes around shooting people and bashing them in the face with a mug full of ale. Currently the build has levels in Juggler Bard (2), Savage Technologist Barbarian (x), Unbreakable Fighter (1), and because I was going to use this in pfs the easiest way to get a gun is to take a level in Mysterious Stranger Gunslinger which keeps the mad down but you can still see the problems with this. The other thing I've noticed is Sword and Gun lets you fire, but not reload. The deft shootist deed lets you do both but for that you need dodge and mobility, on top of all the two weapon fighting feats Id need without Savage Technologist. So my basic problems are reloading in combat, feat starvation, and multiclassing. Open to any and all ideas
