Rayne Oremé is a Human, adopted by a Human/Elf couple soon after birth. The first 13 years of his life went by fairly calmly, being trained in combat by his elven parent, and in peaceful arts (such as gardening) by his human parent. Everything changed, however, when an evil Elf gained control of his elven parent's clan.
In a raid by the clan to gain control of more land, his parents were killed. A heartbroken Rayne swore to revenge his parents, and moved to the city in order to train, and become strong enough to defeat the evil Elf clan leader. He participated in underground matches and street brawls in order to earn money and grow stronger, until one day, he had a life-changing encounter:
He met a Monk, a deadly master of the Zen art, on his way to his living hole after a match. Despite the air of control, the aura of "I have complete mastery over my body and could kill pretty much anyone I can see", this Monk was standing on a ladder, washing windows. Drawn by the feeling of power radiated by this being, Rayne started up a conversation. Although he would remember the short interchange for the rest of his life, one particular phrase stuck with him: "Non-violence is the greatest horse at the disposal of mankind. It is mightier than the mightiest weapon of destruction devised by the ingenuity of man."
This simple, short quote by the monk changed Rayne's outlook on revenge. He realized that the best way to strike back at the evil Elf clan leader wasn't through a path of violence. Instead, he would use the skills his Human parent had taught him. He would cultivate his Gardening skills. He would make the gardens of the world a better place, one garden at a time, until the evil Elf clan leader died of despair, that he would never be able to match his Arch-Nemesis's skill at cultivating live on hand-tilled ground. Rayne quit the underground matches, and dedicated his life to perfecting the art of gardening.
A few months later, however, a problem arose. For whatever reason, he couldn't raise his skill with gardening any higher than his skill at brawling. Despite all efforts, he could not improve his gardening abilities without before becoming a better fighter. Slightly disappointed, he took up a life of adventuring, delving the deepest CR 1 dungeons, climbing the highest CR 1 peaks. Slowly but surely, his gardening abilities increased.
Today, Rayne Oremé had become a renowned adventurer in several extremely small circles. He roams the land, searching for ways to better his fighting skills, and by extension, his gardening abilities.
