BTW, EVERYONE at the table can take the Rapier. We are not limited to only one person. This is Season 9 rules, however, at tier 2, we only have a max of 3 permanent magic items (Uncommon and rarer; Common magic items do not count toward Item Max.)

As for questions, do we ever find the Lord's body? It seems that he was replaced, so his body must be somewhere... I would hate for his daughter to have to discover it!

In this particular case, the ALPG says: Your character gains a level upon completing an adventure.

So, level up! IF we were playing a hardcover, it would take 8 hours of play to level, OR milestone, whichever comes first. But we are not, so it don't matter in our case! ^_^

Greycastle, was this a 2-hour or 4-hour mod?

Depending on which, our maximum gold earned is 60 gp each (2-hour) or 120 gp each (4-hour). In which case, in-game, I would say, maybe the excess gold was donated to the church or distributed among the commonfolk. Or otherwise spent on a feast or something.

Then, finally, each of us gain 20 Downtime days.

As he is one of the few that can use the rapier, he see if his Divine Sense can sense if it is an Evil weapon, if it does not 'ping', he will ask Sashah if he can identify it.

It seems that it was a few weeks, if his journal is any indication. His body may be hidden away somewhere. Will you help us? Is there a Chamberlain that you would go to in the lord's absence?

Well, this removes some of the sting of that terrible combat performance!

Ravvek looks up at the ceiling, as if looking to the gods, and sighs heavily. Then as he moves to check the guards for keys, he wonders why they would need the keys unless someone was being held captive...

Rav thinks that this is a trap, so he intends to be the first into the room, but is going to take the dodge action as he does so.

Ravvek pulls the helm from the guard's head and slams the guard against the wall, hoping to knock him out... then if the guard is still conscious, the paladin presents him to his companions again.

Not sure what kind of damage a wall would do...

Ravvek moves the guard so that Raiden can knock him out, and just take turns between the two. He glances down the hall to see if the party has drawn extra attention...

With the release of Season 9 Rules, I think it might be better all the way around for us to use them when we finish.

If you haven't taken a look, it's a quick read and much simpler. A step in the right direction, I think. Not perfect, but getting back to D&D at its core.

Ravvek whispers to Sashah and Zayless, I feel like that suit of armor is going to animate as soon as we pass. Can you see any arcane markings that might confirm that?

When and if we actually get into view, Divine sense is going off. I am especially looking for the stereotypical evil advisor... I have three uses. The plan is use one when we enter the compound, one when we find the lord, and save one for the eventuality that it isn't the lord, himself.

I am pretty sure it isn't going to work, but if you (Mr. DM) can use it for story, here ya go...

Divine Sense? The range is limited and doesn't go through walls, but I am thinking maybe I get a Darth Vader, I sense a presence that I have not felt for...

We are hoping that Anton can drop a rope so that it is an easy check to scale the wall.

What I am intending is having Anton make it across to the wall / parapet and lower a rope to us so that we can scale it... Will Step of the Wind make it easier for Anton to make the leap to the parapet? Rav will use the help action to give Anton a boost up the tree so that he can make it to the branches easier.

Rav suggests to everyone to cover bright and shiny parts, then goes over a plan to scale the wall on a side that has a little bit of tree cover.

Having possibly been able to watch the keep long enough, and perhaps being able to time the patrols walking the ramparts, Ravvek details a simple plan to make our way to the Lord's chambers and catch him alone.

The paladin says that he intends to use his divine senses to check to see if the Lord, himself, or one of his advisors may be possessed or controlled by some fiendish presence...

He turns to Anton, I've seen you pull some amazing feats. Do you think that with a boost, you might be able to make it up the wall?

I think after an hour, Rav would suggest that we "try another time". As we get led out, he would be trying to see if he could get a sense of the layout of the keep...

Once we have some privacy, Do any of you have familiarity with the architecture of keeps? Could we find our we to the throne room fairly quickly? We also could attempt Anton's suggestion, though we should try that when we have the cover of night. We should also watch for shift changes...

EDIT: Can we make an insight check to notice if any of these guards are under the effects of a charm spell? It just seems weird, their unflinching confidence in their Lord.

The paladin moves to the edge of the camp and places his blade and bow before him in the grass. Kneeling on both knees, he settles back on his heels and listens to the sounds around him. The soft snores of Raiden... Zayless' mumbling in his sleep, a conversation with an unknown companion... the soft rustle of Sashah's robes and the low tones of the sage's questions as he peppers Goodberry with questions... all drift through Ravvek's awareness until sleep overtakes him...

In the morning, Ravvek seems rather chipper, Good morning, everyone! What's our next move? I think we should seek an audience with Oreclasp. Or, alternatively, we could follow those tracks back to the keep and try to gain entry with a more subtle means...

Ravvek sighs, slumping against the side of a tree, I am tired, tired of being angry, tired of chasing vengeance. I just... I just want to help people. Isn't there some way to keep them from even needing vengeance?
