Jeepers!

So, I have some bad news. I was looking forward to joining everyone for the second scenario, but certain personal matters have come up that are making it more and more difficult to post. I am finishing up any scenarios that I'm already in but I'm afraid I will not be able to start any new ones for the foreseeable future.

I had a blast with you all and hope to one day share a table with you again!

No problem! My Medicine modifier is only one higher than yours I think, so I wouldn't have had a huge leg up or anything. Mostly I was offering to heal because Rashid can't really do a whole lot else to help here. The Athletics check to aid with the tablets is pretty dang tough at 1st level.

Rashid gives a weak smile to Webny. "Thank you."

Turning to Jak, he says, "We must see our mission done. I do not think I will be of much service finishing this task, but I will do what I can; afterward, I can tend to everyone's wounds."

Rashid's skills would probably be put to better use making Medicine checks to heal folks, but he has to wait an hour anyway since everybody just got treated by Webny. I can make another Athletics attempt right now since he has to wait an hour to start Treating Wounds, and if we're not done after that I can start rolling Medicine checks.

Seeing the orc cycle between standing and falling again, Rashid calls, "Rangi! Get out of there!"

He raises his hand again, calling on Chamidu's grace once more, then steps carefully toward the battle.

After a recount, I realized Rashid is actually out of Divine Font, so I didn't heal Rangi but I did stabilize him so he's not in immediate danger of dying unless the creature goes after him again. Might not be a bad idea to try and bring it down first? Though the druid is the tankiest of us too, even with a potion another hit will probably drop him back down -- and at Dying 2 this time (or Dying 3 on a crit). It's risky either way.

Sooo going back through, it turns out Rashid is actually out of his Divine Font. I thought I had one left but I forgot about the fight at the skull. That was same day, so I've actually used all 3 heal spells. However, I do have stabilize!

Rashid, battered and bloody, hobbles across the room to get both closer to, and a better line of sight on, Rangi, then raises a hand and whispers a prayer to Chamidu. The internal hemorrhaging within the old orc stops and his breathing steadies.

Pregens are a great choice, especially if you play in a low-tier game like this one is, because you'll be playing a 1st-level pregen for it and that means you can apply the XP credit to Webny. That way you get to try out another class but Webny still makes progress toward level 2!

That's assuming Webny has no other XP yet; if she was level 2 after this scenario I'm not sure. I don't know all the details on how pregen credits work in PFS2 yet, but the answer is probably in the Guide to Organized Play (it's worth re-reading even if you've gone through it already; there's a lot in there and it can be hard to remember it all).

@Pooka: Just so you're aware, comprehend language only lets you understand a language you're hearing or reading, it doesn't let you speak the language (unless you're casting the spell at 3rd level or higher, but I believe the wand was as a 1st level spell). So if it can't speak Common, this might be a one-sided conversation. Still, we might be able to at least know for sure that it's hostile (though I suspect we'll learn that as soon as its turn comes up). :D

Pretty sure he doesn't have useful skills anywhere else so gonna try to heal people up.

@Webny: This is mostly personal preference, but if you want my advice: At lower levels, it might be better to just roll your own check rather than aid. The DC to aid is 20, and if you critically fail, you actually hinder the person and grant a -1 penalty to them instead of a bonus. When you roll your own check, you rarely negatively affect others with a crit fail; it's usually just yourself.

Aiding another becomes easier as you level, however (provided you're at least Trained in the skill) because the DC never increases beyond 20, barring outside circumstances (the DC might be higher in the middle of a windstorm, for example) but your bonus keeps going up. I generally don't try to aid until I have at least a +7 or +8 bonus because it minimizes my chances of hindering the person's roll.

This is mainly personal preference, as I said; I'm less of a risk-taker than most because I usually roll like a dumpster fire and don't want to get my hot garbage on my fellow players. But if nothing else it's good to know the rules for Aid Another! They're definitely different from 1e.

So just to summarize the rules (since that was kind of longer-winded than I intended):

Aid Another is DC 20 (+/- from external factors, at GM's discretion).

Crit Success: +2 circumstance bonus to the aided roll (+3 if you're Master in the skill, +4 if you're Legendary).
Success: +1 circumstance bonus to the aided roll.
Crit Failure: -1 circumstance penalty to the aided roll.

EDIT: Also should note that in combat, Aid is a Reaction, and requires you to Ready an Action (a 2-action activity) on your prior turn. Can be kind of a pain but sometimes helps in things like setting up a Trip or Grab attempt!

Rashid, in the midst of binding Tonraq's wounds, curses and rushes over to Rangi, but thankfully the orc manages to stabilize, so he puffs out a breath. "Had us worried for a moment. Sit tight, I'll get to you as soon as I'm done with the ranger."

Actually I believe it says the Multiple Attack Penalty caps at -10 (-8 for agile weapons).

Also keep in mind that attacks made when it isn't your turn (such as part of reactions like Attack of Opportunity) do not suffer any MAP, they're made at your normal attack bonus. This might not come into play for you if you never pick up a reaction that allows an attack roll, but good to know if you ever play a character that does (fighters start with the Attack of Opportunity reaction, for example).

Rashid traces his fingers through the air above the murals, careful not to actually touch them and further degrade them in their fragile state. "She Who Would Eat the Sun," he murmurs. Turning to the others, he says somberly, "This place changed. It was once a shrine dedicated to the Moon, a peaceful place. But over time the murals were painted over with darker, uglier images. The Moon became not a deity of contemplation, but one of violence. They called Her the Devourer of Light, She Who Would Eat the Sun. A deity demanding blood sacrifices, particularly during the solar eclipse." He nods at the piece of lapis Jak found. "Likely they missed that while desecrating this temple for its later purpose."

He glances down the hole distastefully. "If the information up here was that bad... Chamidu protect us from what's down there."

He touches his shield and mutters a quick prayer for light to guide their way, and the shield begins to glow. "Shall we?"

I see no need to change party order from what we chose on the slides, unless Rangi wants a break from going first. My AC isn't amazing, but it's not terrible either, when I have my shield raised. Either way, I'm good.

Ooh! I'll have to look into that.

I'll be honest, I'm not in love with the Achievement Point system; it rewards people who have the time and money to attend lots of conventions or actually run games, and those with limited time to play like myself basically have to wait years just to unlock one thing (based on my previous rate of play, I would have earned ~20 Achievement Points a year, since I normally have time for only about five scenarios a year, even by PbP, meaning it would take me about 4 years to unlock one uncommon ancestry). It just feels like it punishes people who don't have the resources or time to devote to hammering out scenarios like crazy.

If I manage to keep this crazy pace the rest of the year (super doubtful) I will have ysoki unlocked by December. But more than likely I'll have the AcP sometime next year, which sucks. Watch for my ysoki inventor sometime in 2024! (I wish that was a joke.)

Anyway, I should quit griping. It's not like complaining about it changes anything. It is what it is, and I doubt it's going to change. I haven't looked around much but so far as I'm aware, there isn't a big call for ending the AcP system so I think we're stuck with it.

Who knows? Maybe by the time I have enough AcP to buy the ysoki ancestry, they'll have discounted it or something. Fingers crossed. :P

Same! I also kind of overloaded myself with PFS games recently because I'm working hard toward getting enough AcP to unlock ysoki. It's slow going normally because I don't have time or money to go to cons (even online ones) and I can generally only fit in a couple PbP games, so my AcP progress has been sloooow. The extra games have been a bit of a strain, but a fun one, and I really want that ysoki unlock, they're one of my favorite ancestries from either edition! ^_^

Anyway it'll be nice to ease off the posting load for a couple days, especially since I also have to work the weekend. I'm sure the fireworks will be lovely. :P

Seeing that the hole appears too small for Jak or even Pooka, Rashid decides the best bet is to help with the door. He goes to one side and tries to help shove it open past the rubble.

Athletics (aid): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

WOWZA! Two crit successes on aid checks. I don't think I've ever seen that happen!

Rashid's training has been spotty at best. He has yet to delve much into haunts. "I will have to take your word for it, I'm afraid," he says to Tonraq.

He looks up the steep stairwell. Even with the rope, this will not be easy. He sighs. "Glad I stretched this morning," he mumbles, stows his shield, and begins climbing.

Rashid chuckles as he stitches up the remaining tear in Webny's flesh. "Thanks, Pooka. We try."

It's part of PFS. It gauges how much gold we get at the end of the scenario, based on how many valuable items we find, which are generalized into "treasure bundles." It's basically just a way to mark treasure in the abstract to make it easier to determine our GP rewards at the end. :)
