No need to run 100% top speed all the time. Slow burn is fine, from time to time.

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

Rane follows Tarnok to the bar. The other man had the right idea, as far as he was concerned. Besides, he'd been wanting to talk to him, but he didn't really know how to begin. For now, he sat down and drank.

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
K. Local: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (14) + 0 = 14

Whoops, thought those two spoilers were independent of each other.

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

"He is the mighty dragon Azzerix Wyrmclaw, who has taken up residence and acts as high protector of Sandpoint." Rane stated, as way of introduction, bowing to the half-elf man.

He set about retrieving his throwing disks from where they'd clattered to the floor, and where they were embedded in goblins.

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

Rane fires an arrow at the mounted goblin.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8, 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

Rane throws his last chakram at a nearby goblin. He was down to bow and arrow from here on out.

Chakram vs Goblin #3: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8, 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

Rane angled to get into a better spot to throw his weapon, and tosses it at the leading goblin.

Chakram vs Commando: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6, 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

He curses as he flounders, and the disk winds up skidding along the ground instead of imbedded itself in the goblin's head.

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

I don't have any melee weapons out, so no AoO for me. Might As well roll Nature while I'm posting anyway. :)

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

Take all the time you need. It's entirely okay, we'll still be here when you're ready.

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

"Someone's in trouble." Rane grunted, before setting off in a run towards the source of the screaming.

The chakram would have to wait. He'd come back to collect them - or maybe he could buy some off of a smith somewhere in town. Considerations for later though, right now he had to get his head in the game.

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

If any goblins remain standing, Rane tosses a chakram at it.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24, 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Otherwise, he looks about for more of the little green things, before grabbing a moment's respite. Then he sets about pulling his chakrams out of various corpses.

Perception, looking for more goblins: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

Is it the bard's turn now or what's going on? Am a tiny bit confused.

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

Rane grunts as an arrow impacts on his shoulder. He'd have to use the other arm for throwing.

He drew another chakram, and sent the disk whirling back towards the goblin who'd shot him.

To hit vs #3: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21, 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

Hey, not out to whine too much about taking damage, but shouldn't a small shortbow deal 1d4 instead of 1d6?

Am fine with just taking the 7 damage. Just for the future.

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

Rane drew another chakram, and whirled it towards the goblin who was currently trying to hack the little lizard to pieces.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19, 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

Rane sighed, and loosened one of the chakram from where it was bound on his belt. He kept the metal disks on him at all times - they were ideal weapons for hunting zombies and other shambling creatures that required more cutting power than a longbow could provide.

They were also good at taking out humanoids at close range. He'd killed a few robbers with them.

He drew his chakram, moved about to get a clear shot at the back ranks, and sent it whirling towards one of the goblins.

Move to position on Map (also put Azzerix somewhere he can shoot the salmon-goblin without it having cover) while drawing a chakram, then throw the chakram at Goblin #1. Within range of Point Blank Shot.

To hit: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19, Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

With this particular thing, what you do is, you save your map to the internet somewhere (google imagehost is good for this) and then you take the url of the image, and post it into the field that says 'Map Image Url' in the second tab.

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

If you want tokens, the thing can do that too.

Like this.

Once you're done making the changes you want, you just press the 'pass turn' button, and then post a link with the changes to here so the rest of us can access it.

Very simple festival plaza.

Not pretty but there you are.

What should they look like? Just a basic description would be nice. As far as I understand, there should be a podium, an open place for the podium to stand in, some buildings, and some booths for food and drink, right?

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

What do you need a map of? I could probably make something real quick.

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

Rane looked down at the little creature. "You want me to serve you." It'd be insulting if it wasn't so funny. "All right." He half smiled at the kobold. Well, he'd been bored, the last week or so, and the kobold looked like a great alleviator of boredom. Might as well see where it went. "I'll be Rane, the Third Talon. This here," he grabbed Tarnok by the upper arm "is Tarnok, my kinsman. He won't serve you. They aren't big on that sort of thing, my kin. Ehh, Tarnok?"

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

Rane eyed Tarnok's tattoos appraisingly, and set his ale aside before he answered. "I thought it was a mummer's play when I fisrt saw him. Now... I'm not sure. Maybe the gods tell them to care for the crazy? That sort of thing wouldn't be that strange a belief among city folk."

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

"That would be great!" Rane sounds perhaps a bit too enthusiastic about it, but he was momentarily stumped by the man's sudden good mood.

He was appropriately wowed at the butterflies. He couldn't help but wonder how they collected them all. Maybe they caught a few and then bred the rest. Could you breed butterflies in cages? Otherwise there might be work for next year. Huh. Next year. He didn't think he'd be settling down here. Still, the place wasn't so bad.

He turned to Ven. "Which inn should we head to?"

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

Rane jumped slightly with surprise, and turned around to face Ven Vinder. He suddenly fel woefully inadequate in his dirt-ridden clothes. He shifted uncomfortably. "I err... Yes, sir. Well as I can."

This felt like... It felt like that one time his mentor, Horst Karhen, found him with his hand in the cake-jar. Not a nice feeling, really.

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

"Yeah, probably," he answered, "I wonder how they got the little lizard-man to play the role."

He follows the 'show' a bit more. "He's more fun than the other guy, that Cyrdak fellow."

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

Yeah. I'm okay with missing a little bit of input on scenes that are not 100% integral to the character.

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

Sorry. Got caught up in recruitment for my other game.

Rane grows increasingly worried as he dances with Shayliss. What if her farther got upset? He'd end their business relationship, and the other merchants might wonder why, and with a bad reputation it was always hard to get someone to buy your wares. He might even have to get out of town because of it. When the dance comes to and end, he takes a step away from the girl. "Thank you, Shayliss. It was a lovely time. But I'm afraid it wouldn't do for us to be seen together like this."

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

He's fairly perceptive today, it seems.

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

This was untested territory. He stuttered a little as he replied. "I erh.. No, I wouldn't mind." He was almost blushing. Racking his brain for something more to say, and coming up empty, he simply took her by the arm and lead off to the dance floor.

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

K:Local: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

He throws her a guarded look, but returns her smile with a small one of his own. A friendly face. How nice. He nods at her. "Yeah, that'd be me. You're mr. Vinder's daughter, aren't you? Pleased. I'm Rane."

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

Hohum. Looks like the prospective bard got angry he wasn't selected.

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

Rane stood at the edge of the crowd. He was really attending against his better judgement, he wasn't that comfortable with crowds, but the Hagfish Tavern had closed down just an hour before, and there wasn't a whole lot to do in Sandpoint. Besides, slinking off into the wilds without at least having a looksee at the festivities would just have been too sad, really. So here he was, a grubby ranger, waiting to see what happened next.

He grunted in distaste as Cyrdak got on stage. What a tool.

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

Huh. You plan to go melee?

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

Well. It looks like we're all here.

There's a chance we might be able to kick it off tonight.

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

Dottity...

Human Ranger 1 HP:12/12, AC 17, T 13, FF 14 Fort+3, Ref+5, Will+3, Init+3, perc+6

Dot.

All right! Looking forwards to getting started.

Druids arguably make better healers than bards. Also, access to a full-blown divine list would be nice. And he can melee (Str 18 and Shillelagh), which is sorely needed.

That said, the bard looks like fun. And bardic music is a nice buff.

I don't envy you the choice.

Yeah, once you hit level 2 and onwards, it becomes pretty bad. At level 1 though, 1d8+1 is pretty close to the damage output of a monster. And might be pretty close to full hp, too.

Hmm. Well, we play what party we get, right? You did create a witch for a group that already had an archer ranger and a kobold sorcerer.

We'll just have to make sure to put distance between us and the foes in general.

Shouldn't be an issue. I carry a dagger, because I need something to cut up the animals I hunt. It's also handy for cutting rope and making snares. I only go melee with it as a last resort.

Also, you don't actually have any healing spells. So while, yes, in theory a witch could do that, and you probably will once you come a little more to terms with your powers, in reality finding an arcane source of CLW for you to copy into your familiar could easily be a little problematic, meaning we don't have healing until we hit level 2.

This makes me think we need a healer through level 1, at least.

Huh. Pretty cool party. We don't have any healing at all though.

Rane's interactions with Sandpoint:

Spoiler:
Rane has only recently come into town. However, he has made a small fortune selling furs, rare minerals for alchemy, and other things gathered in the wilds to Ven Vinder, the general store owner, whom he is on fairly good terms with. Not best friends or anything, but they nod at each other when they run into each other.

He's run into Cyrdak Drokkus a few times, and thinks he's pretty foolish.

He has stayed at the Hagfish in a few times, and knows the proprietor by sight. They don't really talk, though.

That's about it. If he isn't 'on the job' so to speak, he usually keeps to himself.

Not to argue unnecesarily here, but light sensitivity isn't that big of a deal. It's just -1 to hit, and spellcasters usually don't need to make to hit rolls at all.

CaptainFord wrote:

Then you might not like this one, but here goes:

He's a kobold draconic sorcerer who has white scales instead of his tribe's usual proud red. Although he is afforded respect thanks to his power, he feels out of place and wanting to expand his power. He's heard that a dragon used to call Sandpoint it's home long ago, and so he's left the safety of his tribal home in search of anything that remains of the dragon. He's hoping to explore the area, crush all monsters that might threaten his rule, and claim dominion over Sandpoint and the surrounding areas.

And his first step is to root out the source of these pesky goblins he keeps hearing about.

Any chance?

I can't help but think: What happens if the adventure leaves Sandpoint? More opportunity for power? Potential to meet new dragons, perhaps?

I like it! Although I would explain a bit more about Rane being in Sandpoint. How long has he been there? Who does he view with respect/uncertainty? You know, how does Rane fit within the citizens of Sandpoint?

Ehh, haven't read that much about Sandpoint. Let me just dig out the player's guide.

Rane moves forwards with Ilyri, keeping his sword drawn, although he attempts to carry it non-threatheningly. As she kneels down to tend to the near-dead man, he stands by her side, keeping a carefull eye on the villagers, awaiting their reaction to the dwarf's words.

Rane moved back to Illyri.

"Fall back! These are not the thieves."

He shouted to his companions.
