Thinking about it for a second, Raiden has an idea. After hearing the sound of things breaking, he knocks sharply on the door, he does his best "guard" voice and says "Sir, is everything okay?.

And if that doesn't work, Strength check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7, he gently tries to shoulder the door, lol, stupid dice.

If that didn't do it, Raiden would help. Poor guard, just fake it already. And, yes, once the hall is clear in our opinion, door needs to be quietly opened to make sure we didn't alert someone inside, and if we did we can take care of that quickly. Hopefully.

Raiden deftly climbs up that tree and jumps over, and makes sure no one else falls off, but can't contain a stifled laugh at all the noise. If necessary, he will help lower that rope.

Let's go over to someplace where we can talk amongst ourselves and consider our options.

And once away from the clueless friggin' guards, Raiden suggests maybe just walking in on this mysterious Lord Oreclasp. We could, you know, just move the guards out of the way if we have to. But, Raiden's pretty sure Ravvek and Anton will have a more diplomatic, and probably better, approach.

Waaaay back on page 13 it was mentioned that there is a reward for owlbear beaks. Though we're not in it for the money, I do think we would have come away with at least a couple of beaks. If for no other reason than proof. Which is the fancy way of saying oh sh*t I forgot yeah of course we got owlbear parts.

Well I guess my post got eaten by gremlins.

Stealth and subterfuge are not really our strengths, so I think meeting with Oreclasp will be the most helpful to us. Whatever happens.

Raiden muses aloud Is that what brought us here, the magic?. You assume he's talking about the teleport spell going awry. He, too, is just about down for the count with fatigue and injury. Looking to the others to see if we're camping right here, right now, because that sounds like a decent plan, but we still probably need a watch.

Raiden huffs and puffs, not bothering to fully gather his breath. We were fighting some owlbears in a cave, that was really rough. And we found a diary, and that the people were murdered! Oh but you meant why are we here? We were at he motions in the direction of the village from where they came from and they were having the owlbear attacks. There were people taken, we followed. Well Davith told us about them. He's a priest. And then we followed the tracks, and you were here.

Didn't one of you mention humanoid tracks in the owlbear's? I think they may have been killed by a person. Perhaps we can find someplace to rest and hash it all out.

It's a plan. Knock them out, investigate the cave, run like heck.
When we've done with combat, Imma use a hit die to heal a bit.

And then the brilliant light is followed by a gallon of blood and a bucket of feathers as Ravvek tears into the owlbear. Raiden rolls out of the way as best he can, taking Big Bertha (the sword) with him.

I've been quite flakey this week, just clean didn't notice those were 20's. Epic-level flakey, lol. I did purposely choose to not reroll the 2; I was not feeling that lucky again. So, extra dam: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 6, 1) = 15.

OK now, using the greatsword for real this time, Raiden slices from right to left (so bear on the right first).

Sorry about confusing my weapons. I had originally gone with the sword but then remembered I had written that I was already holding the hammer, so logically I would have used that. Thanks.

Raiden steps up to the nearest owlbear, cursing its fowl stench (ha). Swing and a hit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18 with the hammer, damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8. If he's still up, smash him again on the back swing 2nd attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 91d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5.

If by some miracle that 9 hit, rerolling that 1 damage 1d4 ⇒ 2.
