Rafael hustles up to a skeleton that's towards the side and on the stairs. "Heyaw!"

Rafael steps up to the crypt's door, but tries to stay behind Okzat. "After you big guy, we all got your back. Dead horse on the doorstep isn't a bad omen or anything, nothing to get superstitious about, happens all the time I hear.."

"Probably actors, some traveling troupe. Who else would have this stuff on the road?" Rafael replies to Rat Tony. "Whatever it was, looks like it hurt though. How old is this? Could the perpetrator still be around?" he continues as he draws his sword.

"Easy as that, eh?" Rafael smiles and adjusts his leathers after the travel. The flame symbol catches his eye, obviously the crypt of the Everflame but still maybe...

"It's not too bad Okzat! Just tie the horsey to the otha end ov tha rope and lower 'em down first!" Rafael calls up the embankment as the Oread seems hesitant.

Rafael removes the rope from one of the party member's packs and starts trying to tie it to a tree.

Rafael takes the offered help, "Thanks, yeah damn thing just me not thinkin' is all. Nothin' big." He tries to lie through his teeth, but the truth of it is that he was almost outright killed by that damn thing.

"It's, uh, change in guard time, eh?"

"AHHHH!! GET IT OFF!!" Rafael screams as memories of being almost stabbed to death while opening a door flash before his eyes. Defensively, you idiot, cast defensively!

"HOLY S%&%!" Rafael is painfully aroused from his halfassed watch. "The wolves! The wolves are in the camp!"

"Picking a fight with wolves, bah! Let them come if they're brave enough." Rafael relaxes by the fire.

Rafael attempts to sneakily take a taste of the small bottle of local brandy while people seem distracted. "Mmm hm? Wolves you say, well.."

"That's not North, you're holding it upside down. It's not pronounced North anyways, it's Noth." Rafael is worthless, if only this was a city, library, or sea port.

Rafael will looks through the surrounding foilage for a minute or two before they head on, doing a perimeter sweep before heading on. "I don't like, just don't like that kind of nonsense."

"I don't want them following us, best ta check the woods quick, keep'n eye behind us from now on?" Rafael looks to Rat Tony, "You have jerky or tabac or something?"

Seeing nothing magical, Rafael continues to search with just his eyes and ears. His rapier is gripped tightly in his left hand as his right hand fidgets though portions of somatic spell patterns.

"Wha?.. Wait, just warmin' up and ya'll vanish?" Rafael starts to sweat. He hadn't taken any wounds and believes that these three have become invisible. "S~%@, s$&~, s##+" He looks around erratically becoming paranoid.

He then relaxes slightly, whispering, "Ah, find the caster nearby, quickly!"

Rafael runs up behind everyone and it last to the melee party. "Hey! Wait for me!" Some of the runes on his skull begin to glow faintly as he mutters something in Auran before lunging with his sword.

"Whoa! S~~~ s*@$, wait, lemme just..." Rafael drops the stone he had picked up out of boredom during their walk and fumbled to start reacting to the threat after everyone else had.

Now that they are out of the city's view, Rafael takes a moment to combine the pack he was given to the one he already owns. "Nope, but I guess we shouldn't over think this and head towards those Serpent's Hills. Walked all the way here, what will another couple days ov walking hurt?"

"Nothing different here. Rations, a small tent, a winter blanket, a waterskin, and this paper." Rafael says while throwing the light pack onto his back and agreeing with Okzat. "Thank you all! It's our honor to head out now on your noble quest." He then tries to judge which way they are supposed to go out of town by how the villages are looking at them.

Rafael looks into his backpack as well and tries to slip out the flask secretly.

He feels pretty confident of himself and looks over to Rat Tony. "Huh, I got one too."[b] Then pulls out his scrap of paper. [b]"Probably for starting fires out there, gettin bloody cold."

Rafael leans forward a little and squints at the lantern. "Nearly the size ov'n anchor! Can't be too heavy from da way yer holdin it though. These, uh, packs for us? I was hopin' ta fill up on wine before we got shoved down da trail as well.." the elf gives a sheepish smile and rubs the back of his neck.

'The whole freaking town is out here, just a staring sad lot. I doubt they have more than three drops between all them..' His smile fades into a more obviously force version of itself as he scans the villagers in the square.

Tagline is updated, but is it ok if I keep the character sheet as is? I like the organization with the spoilers, easier for me to find what I'm looking for.

Rafael is very please with the trumpets. They seem to cover the gloom that is looming over the square, but alas they finish their short introductory tune. "Aye, in short we be da souls you look'n for." He then puts on a dashing grin.

Rafael gets a mischievous grin on his face. Leaning over to the comedian, he nudges Kelnea in the side and whispers, "This is you, kid."

The elf then casts ghost sounds, creating a cacophony of eight trumpeters that begin belting out a triumphant entrance chorus behind the five Pathfinders standing to the side of the square.

"Mead, well if I must, but I don't want ta'be hearing no complaints from downwind." The elf starts stroking his bright blue beard as he walks. "I haven't heard much about it, Vlad, 'cept dat it's some 'coming ov age' thing. There'll prolly be some maids for ye Kelnea. Heh, can ya picture it boys, we're about to become real men in the eyes of these humans. Finally at that, been long century dat ive been building up ta dis."

"Well! We all seem to be roe n'a belly, eh? Celebrate wit'a bit ov morning wine? 'A little sweet white to start the day right'?" Rafael lets the question linger out there with a jingle, then it dawns on him, "Hey, anyone know how much further we've ta go till Kassen? A bit useless here without a sextant n'a lot less trees.."

Rafael looks back to Vlad as the group walks, "Nada sign ov it, still kinda creeps me out though.. the way it slithered across that crick a bit back.. yeesh!" The elf visibly shivers. "Tony, do ya've any more morning wine?"

Rafael blushes when Okzat mentions Naerta, "Ha, oh uh, you're in with da Lady ov Ropes, eh? Some ov my best memories have been in da bowels ov that ship. A bloody work o'art it is. One ov'da world's finest treasures, da way reality melts away in there, da things she hides below decks..." He seems to be lost in reverie for sometime after that.

A non traditional elf gives his empty wine skin a disappointed glance as it is shook and then returned to his person. He has a bald head that is marked with tattoos of runes, received during drunken nights spent in foreign ports, and a tightly bound beard that extends down to his mid chest. Not only is the elven beard odd in and of itself, it is also dyed a bright blue and bound by colorful yellow, orange, and red cords.

"Festival season!! One o'da first o'v da year, I hear," he exclaims to traveler next to him while delivering a friendly slap on the back, his speech drawls in the common way of seamen. "Yu, eh, know what Nirmathi wine is like?"

By now you all know this eclectic specimen as 'Rafael Sebjorn', an elf raised at sea by traders and merchants. During the recent travels he has attempted to drink and play dice with each and every one of you, repeatedly. His stories have been entertaining ramblings of moderate nonsense, him often speaking of how he misses Riding the Lightning or about Gozreh as if the deity was a personal buddy. He wears leathers and from what can be gathered he is not in any way familiar with colder weather.

Rafael crouches and has a stupid 90's sitcom smile on his face, ready to do a freeze frame group jumping photo. "On three?"

Rafael will happily go to the Sheriff's and sleep. Though he is a bit on edge now, expecting to get stabbed to death whenever he opens a door.

Yeah! With either this guy or a halfling barb. Speaking of, if anyone has a character that likes to throw other people, that barb would thoroughly enjoy it.

Rafael jolts back to the land of the living, feeling like a carriage of bricks moving down hill had hit him. "Ugh what a hangover. Huh? Noo not waking up in a field again!? Oh, right. Man the Mendev sucks.. I love Dawnton guys.. but take me back to the water, anyday."

He struggles to his feet, seeing Kali near him with the wand, "Thanks Kali, I owe ya. What happened? D.., did I hit'em? Tell me I got a shot in.."

Rafael's convulsing body defecates as he generously gives his life water to the land of Dawnton.

Rafael dreams of a dingy port from his past where a little shack under pier 14 was open all night. The cook was hammered, scratched herself with the spatula, and packed meat patties under her sweaty arms. The only thing they served was the oddly spiced patties on a moldy flat bread. If the lights weren't kept down so low it would have been disgusting, but somehow within the blanket of shadows, the lapping of waves against the outside wall, and the hazy fugue state of the moonshine it all became bareable.

It was a fun night, but a wretched two days after spent heaving over the rail. Oh how his stomach burned and cramped. That sharp, consistant pain. His face against the rolling deck, the agony...

I would suggest going back and reviewing the investigation posts... a lot of time (in real life) has passed, and memories might be a little fuzzy. I know they would be for me!

Rafael clears his throat, 'this better not blow up in my face like every other idea I've had lately.'
"I will do my best to explain my perspective here. We have in fact never seen this man before. Also, we were not in the area during the first spree of murders, meaning someone else here to night was responsible for them and for those that have happened since. Now, it is obvious to all who can see that Ekira is dressed as a member of the Third Crusade," 'Ehr'lynd I hope I remember all you said correctly...' "We all remember the witch hunts that happened then, doesn't this seem familiar? What everyone has told me is Ekira showed up in town and then murders began. She has also been extremely vocal in condemning members of a organization she despises as the murders. In fact she has been suspiciously passionate and zealous about condemning these individuals. I believe this man, Krunne, is the criminal who committed the crimes so others could be framed. He has the guile to steal other's weapons, to sneak around properties, and convince people of lies."

"Sheriff, as you inspect the note we were given, that led us here, think about the handwriting. Does it seem familiar? Does it match other pieces of evidence that Ekira has brought forth for these cases?"
