Quzman watches as Aletoriss returns and takes Ty's place on the makeshift stretcher and nods. "I can see real Eli, the Eli I knew, in you, at least some what. It will be hard to overcome what has happened between us. You are my brother, as you have been, but that does not mean I fully trust you again. As Abd tried to tell me, and Mahath has spoken again, I shall look for the Lady's understanding and ways beyond truth and vengeance and to her as an example of a redeemer of wayward souls. It is a lot for a man such as I make out, but as I once was granted a second chance for the error of my ways by Garavel, so I shall grant one to you."

Pulling himself to stop and with sincere conviction in his face he looks Aletoriss in the eyes, "Well met, I am Quzman Garhani of the Badawi. May the dawn always shine on your travels.", before he allows himself to continue onward towards the temple with the fallen priest.

Quzman swears under his breath as the hot headed young man starts to walk off, "Son of jackal headed....Mahath, can you see if you can talk some sense into this Aletoriss. I never would have thought someone who went to such lengths to avoid a debt would turn suicidal so quickly. It seems this Father Jackal has a vendetta against all of the Stalkers, Aletoriss included. If we wish to rescue any of our friends, we will need to act as one, if we hope to avoid this <glances down at Abd> again."

"Tyronel, see if you can lift him with me."

HP 63/63; AC: 25(23)/15/21(19); F+7/R+9/W+4; Init: +3 (+5); Percep: +11 (+13)

Quzman calmly watches Eli during the short exchange, his countenance only changing when he hears Tyronel's report about the priest. Looking at Aletoriss, "I did not come here for your benefit, but to protect those who could not be swayed from following head long into the dark. Sadly, this has cost us another of the Lady's faithful."

He turns to Tyronel, "Let us bear Abd al Halim's remains to the temple, so that he maybe cleansed by the rising sun with this morning's dawn. I can not in good faith leave one of the Dawn's chosen lying in the street. After that, we can track down these foul creatures, and rescue our friends."

Quzman starts to make a makeshift litter out of materials at hand in preparations.

Quzman quietly whistles for his companion to join him as he moves closer to the building for cover. "Mahath, are you alright? That bloody Jackal has played us again it seems. Eli, Aletoriss, or whatever his name is came down this side I thought, though I do not see him now. If you are OK, we had best find Tyronel and the priest and make sure they are the same."

Thank you GM. I had meant to ask if I could have replaced the lost companion on the way to town/during our stay.

Quzman perks his ears up at Dhalky's warning growl, "What is it girl?" he queries right before the tell tale click of the crossbows being fired. Ducking behind his shield, he turns to Mahath, "Yes, go. Father has proven that he leaves no loose ends. If he knows of us, he surely knows of the others standing out in the temple.".

Quzman whistle to his companion to attack as he quickly charges the other target.

Quzman will be in between the stalls to the left, trying to act like homeless individual laying down for the night.

I agree, I would like to be able to be close to Eli when it hits the fan there, but I'm assuming wherever we wind up, we'll be spotted by the Jackal and his men before the meeting.

Quzman sighs as Abd finishes his blessing on Tyronel, "If I can not persuade you otherwise, then I shall come with you this evening. I fear we may precipitate something untoward with this, but I can not let you go into harms way alone, when we can go together."

HP 63/63; AC: 25(23)/15/21(19); F+7/R+9/W+4; Init: +3 (+5); Percep: +11 (+13)

Quzman reaches after Tyronel as he grabs his pack. As little as I like it, if we follow the pretender , I think his attempt is as good as ruined. I do not trust him, but the Jackal is sure to smell us well before we get to the meeting point. If we can follow his whereabouts magically from a distance, we may finally be able to get more information than ths Father wants us to have...which has been paltry enough.

I will not stop you, but just ask that you ponder this, before you go., Quzman avows as he lets go of Ty's arm.

HP 63/63; AC: 25(23)/15/21(19); F+7/R+9/W+4; Init: +3 (+5); Percep: +11 (+13)

Quzman throws down the barely touched piece of fruit that was his lunch as he steps from the shadows of the house, "Of course the pretender has set himself up to be ambushed, and I do not like it. Unfortunately, this Father has been playing with us at every turning point since we've come to town. As little as I like it, I think we may have to trust Eli's method to get some answers. If nothing else, Mahath, please track his whereabouts the best you can. If the Father does abduct Eli too, we maybe able find out where he takes his prisoners if you magically watch the taking of him? With the Lady's blessing, we maybe able to resolve this on the dawning of a new day."

Turning to Adb, "Priest, do you have any stories of the Dawnflower, and how she has dealt with lies and deceit of others? Falsehoods do not flow freely where I come from, and need some wisdom on how to deal with such transgressions.

HP 63/63; AC: 25(23)/15/21(19); F+7/R+9/W+4; Init: +3 (+5); Percep: +11 (+13)

Quzman opens his mouth to argue with Eli at his bold statement that he would go alone to this meeting, but it quickly clamps shut as "Aletoriss" announces himself. Quzman's dark eyes turn flinty as he takes in "Eli"'s story, and he slowly shakes his head.

With a sigh, Quzman moves towards the door, as he pushes past Eli/Aletoriss he mutters, "I do not know what to think at this moment, whoever you are, as trust is too valuable a resource among my people to squander so needlessly. I am sure, with enough reflection, and guidance from my Lady, I will be able to come to terms with this lie. However, some will never get that chance, what about Kyra, what about Brebork? That I think will lie on your mind as all they ever knew was a lie."

Quzman pushes his way into the compound and walks towards the house, and on the wind you hear him say, "What about April..."

Quzman looks up from his post at the gate, "Yes, we maybe heading directly into the dog's den, but I would prefer to do so during the light of morning, guided by the Lady's glow. We may need to roust a few strays to find the pack leader's den, but we will find this cretin, and make him pay for his misdeeds."

It was 9 AM when Quzman and Abd al Halim showed up, so assuming still daylight. I doubt we can get Eli to wait till tomorrow too ;)

Quzman growls slightly at hearing Mahath's vision. Turning to Eli with a flinty look, "This Father has crossed the Stalkers one too many times. I believe it is nigh the time we put this dog down. The gall to kidnap and assault one of the Dawnflower's holy knights in such a manner...it's like a viper sticking its head into a mongoose's den. It's asking for retaliation." He turns and stomps towards the front of the compound to clear his thoughts and wait the rest of the group.

HP 63/63; AC: 25(23)/15/21(19); F+7/R+9/W+4; Init: +3 (+5); Percep: +11 (+13)

Quzman's eyes take on a flinty gleam at the prospect of yet another missing friend, and quickly moves toward the door to check the courtyard for any possible clues. Pausing for a second on his way out the door, "Revered elder, I am sure you will find food and drink in the dining area through there. We can discuss more of Jameena once we determine where she has gone.".

Quzman wanly smiles as he steps forward, "It has been a confusing day, my brother, with conflicting calls of duty that is for sure." He grasps Eli's hand in greeting while gently guiding it away from the hilt of his sword. "Thankfully, the Lady has been gracious enough ease my troubled heart. She came to me in my dreams, and showed me the faces of the SandStalkers...including poor Dumah and our long lost Kyra.", bowing his head and sighing as he thinks of his lost friends.

Quickly wiping the thought from his mind, Quzman looks up and takes in everyone in the area, "On my way back into town, I stopped by the temple to pay my respects, and offer thanks for offering clarity when my mind was uneasy. This priest, Abd al Halim, approached me in the temple looking for Jameena. As I was planning on reuniting with her here, he accompanied me."

I got MD's PM about this. I'd be game to getting written back in if you are up to it. I actually just checked this game's threads last week to see if anyone was about..and then started reading some of your Savage Tides game. That was one vicious ape...poor Chez & Kowaru.

Quzman smiles grimly at Eli and in a somewhat louder than necessary voice, "It will take more than the stench of these flea bitten curs to make me abandon this endeavor. I'd take care as to where to sit however, you never know when these dogs will drop to their hindquarters and drag..." As he acquaints himself with his surroundings, Quzman will try and find a table near a wall by a door if possible. I do not think we wish to offer our backsides to the room anymore than necessary.

Quietly to Ty, "I think we should give them a little more time, if nothing else. We have to trust that the mage has adequate protection for himself in his villa. He has survived in Katapesh much longer than any of us, that's for sure."

HP 63/63; AC: 25(23)/15/21(19); F+7/R+9/W+4; Init: +3 (+5); Percep: +11 (+13)

I agree with Jameena. I'm sure we've been watched, and at least in doors we can limit some range issues if/when it hits the fan.

HP 63/63; AC: 25(23)/15/21(19); F+7/R+9/W+4; Init: +3 (+5); Percep: +11 (+13)

That's the plan as I understand it.

Eli was eager to go, so it sounds like we were heading out of the diviner's house as soon as we could get ready...so 3:30ish? I'm not sure how long it would take to walk that distance keeping an eye out to actually arrive

Quzman follows Eli closely, keeping a hunter's eye trained on those around him. "I do not like exposing ourselves like this, but I agree. If Haleen is truly in danger, we owe it to Dumah to try and assist her. Keep your eyes open, and your wits about you. May the dawn's light guide us through safely."

HP 63/63; AC: 25(23)/15/21(19); F+7/R+9/W+4; Init: +3 (+5); Percep: +11 (+13)

Quzman ponders Eli's words carefully before responding. "Good Eli, I think there is some merit here, but I am afraid both might be a little presumptuous on our part. First, I would not ask a respected diviner to attempt to defraud the public. It would be bad for business for him if it were to be found out. It does also not sit well with my sensibilities to fool the masses who are already disillusioned with the Dawnflower. As her servant, I would rather try to show them that her followers are honest and kind if nothing else. The second would also go against my second point. We would be the ones trying to defraud the masses, and our own status as honest folk would suffer greatly when it was found out. This truly goes against the teachings of my Lady and my people. On the desert, one may not always like every member of ones tribe, but one must be able to trust each and every one of them with their lives...as they surely do whether they admit to it or not. Over the past couple of days, I am beginning to think that life in the city maybe as deadly as that of one on the open sands."

This would be the day that Eli and Ty hit town and try and spread back rumors against Z?

HP 63/63; AC: 25(23)/15/21(19); F+7/R+9/W+4; Init: +3 (+5); Percep: +11 (+13)

"That sounds like a plan. Also, as Jameena mentioned, perhaps you know something about this Templar that might be able to spread as rumor to help keep him silent, or perhaps at least concerned. In the mean time, Dhalky and I can see about gaining familiarity with the grounds and scents of those who have actual business in the household."

HP 63/63; AC: 25(23)/15/21(19); F+7/R+9/W+4; Init: +3 (+5); Percep: +11 (+13)

Quzman can take post on the roof for sure. He would probably like the open air/sun most of the time anyways. I did find a new companion on the way to the city, Dhalky. He would be posted with Quzman most times, but would be handy during the evening hours, as scent would cover a good part of the sleeping areas.

HP 63/63; AC: 25(23)/15/21(19); F+7/R+9/W+4; Init: +3 (+5); Percep: +11 (+13)

Quzman shifts slightly from his position along the wall, where he has been listening attentively, "I am sure you are no simpleton, good Marzuk. However, you must realize that that my companions and I have spent little time in the city only to suddenly have everyone want to know our business is a little disconcerting. We have spent a long time in the desert, and have lost much along the way. We have learned caution, and are trying not to rush into anything without our own information." After having his say, Quzman settles back against the wall intently watching the merchant.

HP 63/63; AC: 25(23)/15/21(19); F+7/R+9/W+4; Init: +3 (+5); Percep: +11 (+13)

If there was no information about tracking down Haleen to take care of Dumah's stuff, then no just a couple of items to pick up as far as I"m concerned.

Quzman tightens at the name of blasphemer Zayifid. In steely voice, "If your agents ever do find this man, please let us know. The Sand Stalkers have a lot to discuss with this heathen, as he has cost us much."

After regaining his composure a little he will again address Rayhan, "I thank you greatly for the offer of lodgings while you study this scroll. Some place where we can all sleep securely in this city is a welcome thought. You began to mention a friend of our dearly departed, Haleen. Do you know something of her whereabouts? We have some items for her that may help her cause if we can find her."

HP 63/63; AC: 25(23)/15/21(19); F+7/R+9/W+4; Init: +3 (+5); Percep: +11 (+13)

Quzman quietly sips his lemonade in the background, sizing up the "gentile" host and his "friend". Unskilled in the intricacies of fencing with the spoken word, he feels the tension rise as Eli and merchant banter. As Rayhan makes his pronouncement, he can stay quiet no longer, "WHAT have we found man? It's a scroll, that all can see. But, what is it that makes it special, that it cost us two of our teammates in return? I can hardly see where a scrap of paper is worth one true friend, let alone two. Sadly, good Dumah was one of those taken from us for this piece of paper." Quzman blurts in a huff before returning to his tight lipped spectator.

HP 63/63; AC: 25(23)/15/21(19); F+7/R+9/W+4; Init: +3 (+5); Percep: +11 (+13)

Quzman looks up from his contemplation, "El-Neb? We let the priests of Sarenrae deal with its taint. Hopefully in their hands, it will plague innocents with its curse no more."

Taking a long drink of water, "It has been a long time since the name of Father Jackal has crossed our paths. I wish we had the time to seek him out, or at least his lackey the Bandit. He is one I would like to have a long drawn out conversation with that one. He is beyond redemption in my eyes."

Clapping his hands together, "So, what say you? It sounds like this Rayhan may actually be able to assist us in determining the truth behind this Scroll. It came at a heavy price, hopefully it is worth it."

Quzman nods in agreement with the rest, "Truly, we will need some assistance with solving the riddle of this scroll that everyone but us seems to know about. Unfortunately, my talents lie in the open desert and its inhabitants. I do not fare so well in such "civilized" surroundings. In my tribe, we were all family and shared what we had. Here...things are much different. You are usually much more comfortable around crowds Eli, perhaps you can take the lead in the city. Perhaps Father Chaqra might be able to inquire about the item with his "contacts"."

Quzman grasps Tyronel's forearm firmly, "Brothers forever Ty, brothers forever. I know it is difficult to leave the glorious ever shining Dawn, but I am glad to have you by my side to continue the struggle against darkness here in life." Quzman's face creases in sorrow as Jameena and Eli mention the young mage, but swiftly he replaces the pain with his stoic mask.

"Come, let us have a drink, eat, relax, as I am sure you need a moment to gather yourself.", as he leads Tyronel off towards a local tavern.

Quzman sighs deeply at the news, "I can not say I blame him. I hope Dumah finds the warmth of the Dawn forever more in the afterlife.", and bows his head in a quick silent prayer. Looking up at the priest, "But of course Father, we understand great magics require great sacrifice. Unfortunately, we do not have this sum in loose coin among us, but give us but a few hours in the market, and I am sure we can procure this."

I put forth the Wisdom circlet as a way to garner the funds quickly. It is worth 16K, and should sell for enough to restore Ty. It is nice, as it gives me 1 2nd level spell and +2 on a few skills, but it's not game breaking either way.

HP 63/63; AC: 25(23)/15/21(19); F+7/R+9/W+4; Init: +3 (+5); Percep: +11 (+13)

Quzman bows low, "Father, thank you for the blessings. I truly we were able to arrive with more light in our hearts. Sadly, bringing the Dawn to those in the dark can be a dangerous affair, as any true test of faith should be. Unfortunately, it was those who traveled with me that bore the brunt of the damage in our trials and tribulations. If, as young Eli said, you can ask the Dawnflower to shine on my friends once again, we would be most appreciative. Whatever donation is required, we shall make be it coin, blood, sweat, or tear."

As he lays Tyronel and Dumah's bodies down to rest on the sheets, Quzman looks to the priest, silently pleading for his assistance.

It looks like we have the money in party treasure for the speak with dead. If not, Quzman has more than enough in personal coin to pay for them.

Shortly after on the way to the temple, Quzman leans in again whispering, "Keep your eyes open and wits about you. It sounds like more than word of the scroll has crossed the desert ahead of us. Someone knows us and knows we have it. Our descriptions are being passed along with frightening speed."

Quzman stows the vials Eli hands him, "Thank you, hopefully we will not need them all before we return to town. I already have a ring that shields me, and I do not believe my vest would work with such a cloak to any benefit. Let us make haste to Katapesh, as if there is still this much determined resistance this far from Kelemarane we maybe needed back there sooner than I had hoped."

Back...I'm good with looting, and moving on towards Katapesh. We're rather battered, so may wish to refresh a little with the wand. The sooner we get Dumah to town, the better off he will be.

Quzman curses vehemently as he sees the target of his rage fall to the ground by another's hand. His rage turns quickly to guilt and sorrow as he sees the crumpled form of the young mage. Falling to his knees beside the smoking body, Quzman offers prayers to the Dawnflower to watch over Dumah as he makes his way to the Great Beyond.

A while later, after paying his respects, Quzman will rejoin the two remaining members in preparing for travel onto Katapesh. "The way has been hard, and fraught with peril, I hope Dumah is able to find his peace. Come, let us try and salvage what we can from these vicious interlopers, and continue on to get our friends to the church in Katapesh."

Turning towards Jameena, "Sister, do you have any healing light left from the Dawnflower this day? Her blessing would help ease the sting of loss that we have suffered today."

After sliding back down, Quzman would start to undo his breastplate to try and lighten his load to clamber up the pit. It takes 10 rounds, and would have started in round 11.

Quzman curses himself for making it so easy for the gnoll, and slams his weapons back into their sheathes. He quickly tries to start to scramble up the slope, knowing that the wounded mage is now effectively alone with the dangerous witch.

Quzman swears at the cagey gnoll, and rushes around the outside of the fog to stand beside the young mage, in case she targets him next.

Double move to X15

Spoiler:
I will continue to move around her, since I will have to lose the multiple attacks anyways, and end up in AE14 and swing.

"The witch is straight out of the cloud from you good Eli. Follow my voice and you can see again!.", as Quzman takes a slash at one of the beasts.

Quzman had charged to AC11, so Eli would have to be in AC12.

Quzman gags at the of the disgusting odor, and slowly moves forward to try and find the gnoll witch in the fog. "You can't hide from redemption, hag. No matter how hard you try, the Dawnflower will find you."

Move to AD12 to start. If I can see the gnoll from there, I will full attack to try and remove images. If I can not, I will continue on the diagonal until out of the fog, and look for the gnoll from there.

HP 63/63; AC: 25(23)/15/21(19); F+7/R+9/W+4; Init: +3 (+5); Percep: +11 (+13)

Quzman snarls through the pain and rushes around the ettin towards the gnoll witch. "Your evil days are over witch. We will send you to the same hell your beloved "king" was sent off to howling and screaming.", as gets close he pulls in his blades and lashes out with his foot trying to sweep the beasts legs out from under her.

Trip attempt:1d20 + 10 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 10 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 24(haste, bless,inspire courage, favored enemy)

AC:24 HP:63/40 haste(last round), bless inspire courage

If haste ran out before I moved, I would charge directly towards her, doing the same, but drawing AoO from the ettin at AC 21. I draw an AoO from her for the attempt anyways.

HP 63/63; AC: 25(23)/15/21(19); F+7/R+9/W+4; Init: +3 (+5); Percep: +11 (+13)

Quzman rolls over and snarls at the newest threat. "These vermin breed worse than hares. Jameena, stall the giant. I'll try and get to the b&#~@!", as he heaves himself up off the sand and runs up and around the ettin the best he can.

Ends up at Y7, going diagonal till W7 and then forward 10'

AC:24 HP:63/51 haste, bless inspire courage

EDIT:Fixed math error...man, what a waste that math degree is some days ;). Thank you.
