Changed Kai to a straight Brawler (With Wild Child Archetype - Animal Companion is a Quetzacotl). Still emphasizing on grapple the hell out of people. Bought more rope and updated wish list. The Archetype actually appears really fun, however if Animal companions are frowned upon then I can go straight brawler, no archetypes. Just let me know~ I will be going for maneuvers and be a special combat fool, Disarm, Sunder, Grapple, Pin/Tie Down. His stats changed as well, reflecting the dropping the monk side of things. Wish List - Also in character sheet:
1 emei piercer 3 gp 1 Masterwork Cold Iron brass knuckles 1 lb 302 gp 1 Masterwork garrote 1 lb 303 gp 1 Masterwork lamellar (leather) armor 25 lbs 210 gp 3 Potion of cure light wounds 150 gp 1 tekko-kagi 2 gp 1 Backpack, masterwork 4 lbs 50 gp 1 Bedroll 5 lbs 1 sp 1 Belt pouch 0.5 lbs 1 gp 1 Flint and steel 1 gp 1 Oldlaw whiskey (per bottle) 1 lb 20 gp 4 Rope 10 lbs 4 gp 10 Torch 1 lb 1 sp 5 Trail rations 1 lb 2 gp, 5 sp 1 Underwater light crossbow 4 lbs 70 gp 1 Waterskin 4 lbs 1 gp 1 Wyrm's breath bitter 1 lb 30 gp Wyrms Breath Bitter Liqueur... Burp as much as I want and sicken/stagger people, Ha! sounds great for a brawler who likes to get his drink on! :D
Character updated.

Overlap isn't as bad as you think, they complement each other quite well. Complete misery, but I had no reason to quit as the party was great. Sasha Neville II wrote:

I don't mind Constructive Criticism but what you prefer isn't what GM Hills prefers. If he has an issue I don't mind changing it at all. As I said, I wasn't trying to optimize or min/max, just building a fun punching character. Much like you built a Fighter Bloodrager because it was fun and worked well, right? Since it is an issue I will drop monk and change the character. Updated Character coming in 3 hours after work.

Background, Appearance, Personality (Updated):
Kai was taken from his home and sold off as a slave when he was very young, he spent his early years learning to survive the abuses of his masters and eventually escaped during a violent storm near the shackles. He washed ashore near Port Peril and eventually found work performing heavy labor around the docks. Kai was one of the biggest Lizardfolk many had seen around Port Peril in the shackles, he worked as a dock worker. Often working for a third of what most people made, except he was quite prone to his drink and was often placated with that instead of pay. Being such a simple creature he didn't know the difference between cheap and expensive whiskey. He just enjoyed getting drunk off his scales and brawling. It was during one of these brawls, after many hours of cheap drink in the Formidable Maid. Despite handling himself well he found himself confronted by a group of rough-looking characters ganged up on you and overwhelmed you, knocking you unconscious. Fortunately, you were able to conceal your brass knuckles when you were press-ganged. From there he proved to be difficult to control without drink, spending many of his days chained in the bowels of the ship where he couldn't viciously assault the rest of the crew. However he was brought on deck whenever a fight with other ships broke out and he excelled at boarding the enemy ship and tearing apart its crew with his vicious strikes. He often grappled enemies or kicked them overboard with his punishing kick, he was a force to reckon with. However he preferred a straight up fight over guns, finding them too complicated for his tastes. Current Status
It's there hope to sell him once they reach an appropriate port... Appearance Standing at nearly seven feet tall and heavily muscled, Kai is covered in scars from the many fights he has survived, his forearms and fists bare the most scars. Having been stabbed while pinning and beating his opponents to death with his bare fists. His underbelly sports a few wicked scars from injuries that would have easily killed a regular man, however his natural armor protected him from the worst of it along with his quick reflexes. His scales are black while his underbelly is a dull grey like unpolished steel. His only remaining eye is a yellowish color akin to a snake. Personality
Killer He's a predator and anything that he deems prey better run. Aiming to cripple or kill opponents quickly before moving onto the next, he fights on instinct. Allowing his unpredictable movements to be the downfall of his enemies. Quiet He rarely ever talks, having a rough understanding of the language but never taught how to speak it. He prefers to speak in his own tongue over that of his captors. Determined Survivor Aside for the brutal way he fights he will always look to ensure his survival in any fight. Whether the means using an opponent as a shield and leaping over a cliff edge and using them as a way to break his fall or merely running away so that he can return later and kill his opponent. Naive He is easily duped, however he responds to pain with pain and most likely wouldn't know what t do if someone was actually nice to him...

Suggestions welcome! :D
Tactics:
For tough opponents he can utilize his higher the average grappling and get them in a position where he can beat them with his fists and keep them somewhat immobile. His Flurry of fists though will ensure that he can take down opponents very quickly. His high stealth coupled with high grapple and garrote means he can take enemies quietly as well. Scouting wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility with him and he can easily get himself out of trouble if needed.
Updated character, I know Lizardfolk is probably pushing it but I thought it was worth a shot to replay an old favorite of mine. Granted Quartermaster Kai'Itza was 3.5 lol. I am keeping the old Character sheet under a spoiler as Kai was my very first Pathfinder Pbp. Hence why I tried again! :) Hopefully everything is okay. took awhile to get his stats right. He isn't the smartest or the prettiest but if he can hit it or grapple it then whatever he is fighting is going to have a bad BAD day. If selected I will make a new profile, until then I will stick with using this old one currently. Btw! Good Luck everyone! @Suny: You again! Troublemaking Sea Elf! Hopefully we both get selected it would be a blast to play together again! :D
S&S makes me wish to revive my old Lizardmen sailor. Except I'd go Brawler (possibly Arch - Strangler) with eventually PrC into Shadow Dancer if the build works out. Focusing on grappling and ground pound, obviously. :3 Background:
Kai was captured as a young scale and sold into slavery shortly after. His life was on a knifes edge for a long time, he was constantly being harried and harassed by his owners. Beaten and thrown into fight after fight. He learned quickly to survive with more then just his teeth and claws, he learned to beat things to death with his fists, strangle them or drown them as he was a more natural swimmer. He was on-board the ship during the wormwood mutiny and used the opportunity to strangle his more hated captors and escape in the confusion. Appearance standing at nearly seven feet tall and heavily muscled, Kai is covered in scars from the many fights he has survived, his forearms and fists bare the most scars. Having been stabbed while pinning and choking his opponents out. His scales are black while his underbelly is a dull grey like unpolished steel. His only remaining eye is a yellowish color akin to a snake. Personality

I have so many pdf's on Aasimar and Tiefling's that its not even funny... I even converted some things from the old 2nd edition books when they First showed up! However Fey'ri are my favorites, forever more. >:) Oh and Lizardfolk/Serpentfolk, always been a scaly guy. My First character on the boards was a Lizardmen lol! Quartermaster Kai'izta!
I have one question, how does Yarzoth who would normally be CR 4 creature get 4 levels of cleric and remain only a cr 6? I was wondering this because it makes it rather confusing when someone tries to actually play one of these as a character and its a minimum of a +4 level adjustment. I tried to figure it out but perhaps I missed something and I thought I would ask for the logic of my betters. ;)

I definitely don't mind if you use Kai, It would be awesome to see him or any of us for that matter in an AP or such. So go right ahead~ =) I agree with the captain, its sad to see it end like this but sometimes that is just how it is~ So no hard feelings or nothing, hopefully you recover some of your work! Good luck and have fun with your players! =D

Welcome back Nerine~! This must be the month of bane for Laptops and electronics in general... Thats 2 laptops in a month >.<; Good luck DM, we will be here so no rush at least on my part :D

After the Captain returns to his cabin once more Kai steps forward and address the gathered crew and passengers. Speaking so that his voice is easily heard Kai says "The Sseaborn requiress much lesss then the Brotherhood to man and becausse of this I assk for ssix to volunteer. Any with experience will do ass we sshall continue to learn ass we ssail our new ssister sship." Allowing those present to think over his words he stalks over to find Nerine so that he can speak to her "Friend Nerine, I sshall teach you my tribess sspeech whenever you are able to come aboard the Sseaborn." He bows his head respectfully to the brotherhood's small caprenter. He waits patiently for her response as he waits on volunteers to present themselves before continuing onto the next task of gathering some supplies to the Seaborne.
Lizardfolk
I was waiting on the Captains orders~ ;) Kai was going to be still on the Seaborn trying to get their mast setup and get the rigging up again. Since i'm assuming we still have plenty of daylight left to burn. Mainly because if a storm comes the Seaborn is as good as sunk without any sails. It sounded like the Captain was going to leave his navigational charts early and make his will known. Also I think he is busy with final's or some such~ Ah college life and soon I will be in that heck soon as well
Lizardfolk
Kai isn't going to disagree with the Captain one bit, he's just willing to do whatever it takes to assist and in anyway he can. Trying to perform his duties as a Quartermaster as best he can. Kai is wanting to learn more about healing from Nerine if possible in exchange for teaching her draconic but will do what ever the Captain needs him too.
Lizardfolk
Kai's feelings on the matter 1. Kai is of course adamant on getting Keev back into good shape, but since he is a clumsy claw at healing he is hesitant to attempt anything himself. 2. Try to repair and retrofit the Seaborn with a new crew if possible, since it will take a few days to get the Seaborn sea worth again. We should have plenty of time to teach some of the NPC's about basic sailing skills and they can learn through trial and error as we move along the seas. We could possibly place a PC or two on-board the Seaborn~ to help continue the training of the other crew and spice things up a bit. 3. Kai can hold his breath for a long time (a little over 7 mins) if we want to try and investigate the heart of the cursed area, besides if we decide to fix the Seaborne we have plenty of time to search this dead zone as well. 4. Have Garth continue his scouting, especially since the ship is in a fixed position it should be fairly easy for him to return so long as we don't encounter a storm. Perhaps breaking into teams would be best to accomplish these tasks.

This is the spread sheet I was saying I was going to make, let me know what you think and I will make any improvements that I can. It is a bit complicated but I was trying to cover all the bases and hopefully avoid modifying it too much once we have some loot. Hopefully you like it! =D But I will accept constructive criticism as well =)
Lizardfolk
Welcome back Captain good luck at school! We will see you when you get back~ Although I am looking forward to your journal. =D Kai chuckled as he watched Suny shed her silly clothes and escape to the depths of the sea. Lucky unscaled.... He watched bleary eyed as Captain Devannis left the Seaborne, taking refuge back on-board the Brotherhood, and noticed in turn that Darius looked exhausted and was unresponsive. Kai decided then that action was needed to be taken lest they loose what precious momentum they had going, he forced himself upright as he surveyed the exhausted crew of the Seaborn and that of his own comrades from the Brotherhood crew. He knew they were nearing their limits, some quicker then others, but they had to get the Seaborn securely rigged before this world decided to test them yet again. He moved among those still gathered on-board the Seaborne and as he walked he spoke loud and clearly. Making sure that all nearby could hear including any looky-lou's on the Brotherhood. He was hoping to inspire them to continue moving forward or aid in securing the Seaborne for sailing the seas proudly again. "I can ssee you are all tired, you have all worked hard and did what you had to do! For thosse who are in need of rest, you sshould find a place to resst and return to duty only when you feel you can. For thosse of you who are sstrong enough to continue on, we musst ssecure the masst. Once we are ssure it iss ready for the ocean again, then we can take a much needed resst!" He turns and stalks over to the gangway leading across to the Brotherhood. He stands on the side of the gangway, leading to the Seaborne, and fixes his gaze on any who seem to be apprehensive over assisting this 'other' ship. His voice is clear and firm as he speaks to those nearby on the Brotherhood. "I know that our ssuppliess are tightly rationed ass it iss but right now we need to do what musst be done to get our ssisster sship ssailing again. We will alsso be giving care to their wounded, all of thiss musst be done. If you want to contesst thiss then you will have to come and find me, I hope your reasons are sstrong. I will only remind you all once that we may be all that iss left from our world, and that this worldss waterss are full of life. Sso we will ssurvive this even if we musst bare through timess of hunger. But no matter what we musst do thiss Together or not at all! So I assk thosse of you willing to lend aid to do sso. In the sshort time we have been together I have tried to do what was besst for all of uss I will not lead you down a falsse trail, I know we will make it through thiss. Believe in our Captain'ss sskill, and believe in my wordss." Diplomacy:
[ooc] Diplomacy: Take 10 + 11 = 23, He is trying to use his good reputation and positive standing among the Brotherhood crew to persuade them against forming negative idea's toward this new arrangement with the Seaborn. Sadly it may be seen somewhat negatively because many will be nervous about straining their supplies more then they already are. But to Kai a little over half a dozen more mouthes to feed is trivial to him and he won't abandon anyone if he can avoid it.
With a respectful nod of his head Kai returns to working on the rigging, he works until his scaled hands bleed and his knees begin to buckle. Depending on how far we get~: Once the mast is firmly secure he finally stops to rest and depending on what time of night it is he will offer to escort Keev to the Brotherhood so she can rest in his room. That way she is closer to a healer and so she can rest away from the elements on-board a sturdier ship. Once/If she accepts and is secure he will sit just outside the doorway, just in case Keev needs assistance, and he will pass out from exhaustion.

No the only real informatio he left was, that he hopes we continue our role-playing on the re-rigging of the Seaborne and that we are going strong when he gets back from his holiday stuff. Perhaps he is hoping we are moving back on this current that Captain Devannis and Nerine Found. Don't let me confuse anyone into thinking i'm trying to corral you into playing or be the DM while Willpower is away lol. Thats not my intention ^^; i'm merely putting together a party warchest spreadsheet and hoping to do some more role-playing in the mean time. But I do remember this time of year is especially busy for those of us going to school or in college. Or with large families. So no rush ladies and gents. Have a wonderful holiday season and we will see you when you get back.
Lizardfolk
I'm going to be making a loot spread sheet using google docs, i've done it for a couple of Pbp i'm in so I thought I would present the idea. So far the only real items I know of are what we have earned from fallen comrades, and whatever others my have found. I'll post the code once the sheet is done and people can present what they want to add to it. Everyone can carry on with secret business or keep items they have already claimed out of the 'pot' so to speak.

Back to seriousness~ I kinda posted in haste, and should have asked how everyone else wanted to continue the main game posting while the DM is gone. I assume we have a lot of Role-playing and skill rolling check issues regardless if we do the entire towing or start off after the pull is over. At least most of these checks will be fairly easy DC's I believe 15-20. We have a lot to re-rig on the Seaborne and put the bowsprit back in place. ;) But I at least thought i'd ask before just assuming and making another hasty post. At least now we have a little more time to introduce ourselves before Willpower returns. ^^; Have a god holiday season to those who are away! xD I have until the 18th until I go back to work thats why i'm always lurking lol, nothing better to do when its 0 F* out other then play games ^^;;.
Lizardfolk
If we want to roleplay the pull then I can set this post up for a different time, upto you guys ( ^_^)-d After hours of toiling beneath the angry red glare of this worlds strange new sun, the Seaborne finally moved beyond the edge of the dead water and the sound of the sea lapping against its hull was almost music to Kai's ears. How they had managed it, he couldn't really recall, but now the ship sat on the edge of the dead water and there was even more work to be done. The ships hull would need inspection, its mast and rigging would need to be re-rigged if she proved seaworthy. He casts a weary eye towards where Keev was, quickly checking on her condition, before he went back to the task of removing the knots from their tow rope. His skull felt like it would crack open from the throbbing pain, but there was no rest yet. No not yet. As he worked he regarded his fellow crew mates, including those of the Seaborne. "If we are to make ssure thiss sship iss to ssurvive then we musst move quick before bad weather hitss. The masst is in the mosst danger an needss itss sstanding liness checked before we re-rig the resst of the sship. Unless the Captain's have anything elsse to ssay Nerine, Suny you know what you need to do." Flexing one of his scaled hands, he looks fondly at the Seaborne crew as he tries to appraise them yet again. They had impressed him with their determination, but they're skills were unknown to him. He gave a frustrated sigh as he stood up, staggeringly slightly from weariness as he approached the Captains. "Captain Dariuss, I am believing that we are to ssave the Sseaborne, yess?" He pauses a moment and looks at Darius curiously before continuing "You have ssaid that you are not a Captain but ssomeone will have to lead the Sseaborne. You know them..." Kai shuts his eyes as he rubs his head for a moment, before opening them and finding himself unable to focus. "Forgive me, I musst return to work." He turns away, slowly walking back over to the pile of towing rope and continues where he left off. Cog Stats: Cog The cog is the basic medieval-era sailing ship. It is a singlemasted

24v24 is pretty epic, although if you ever played eve online the fleet battles were truly insane..... at least 100+vs100+ ships controlled by other players. It reminded me of something out of star trek >.>; but I soloed a lot in that game. ^^; I will have to check out your mmo though FtP sounds like fun =) I have sadly played way to many games, longest running MMo i was in was FFXI, that game was alot of fun before it became full of elite morons -.-;

Nyar, i'm still lurking here abouts~ Been reading my new savage tide adventure a little bit here and there. But i've been working on making my own adventure again. I'm not going to quit or anything but i've been feeling the need to cause some PC's pain and a little suffering. Although I blame this adventure for me wanting to make a sea going adventure ;). All in good fun though, trying to make a mystery/horror styled campaign (I hate horror flicks btw, so it will prove interesting to create) but I wanted to change it up from the usual hack and slash. How is everyone else doing btw? @DM: tried to look at our boat pic and such but it crashed my web browser for some reason xD. Fortitude Save1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 Kai focused on coiling the rope as it was spliced, he ignored the angry glare of the red sun hanging above them like some ominous eye and the staleness in the air smelled like death warmed over it rankled his scales. He worked himself to the bone and took short rests only when his muscles began to cramp, this day he could not falter, he could not be lazy! Too many depended on their success and one in particular needed a place to find peaceful rest to recover. He inhaled the stale air and gave a great sigh as he rubbed the sides of his aching skull, the pain never leaves it only grew worse until he slept or when he was engaged by something new. He couldn't allow pain to slow him today. He laughed with a booming bark as he watched Suny antics as she bounce about the deck, sometimes Kai wondered where her energy came from. He bowed his head in respect to Captain Devannis as he too joined their efforts and spoke to him as he busied himself in improving upon their knotting and splicing. [/b]"How goess your ssearch?[/b] He pauses a moment before bowing his head to Darius respectfully as well "Captain'ss I sshould ssay, Iss there something you need me to do other then this?" He tilts his head inquisitively for a moment before he returns to busying himself with coiling and piling.

Well I did volunteer to assist but we wouldn't know if it was successful or not until this is all over since everything is a secret roll ~_^ And the pic was just to be funny lol not to represent anythign I just found it and thought it was silly in a bad way. Wrecking a chopper like that would be scary as hell.
Lizardfolk
Knotting and splicing is pretty much the same, especially where rope use is concerned xD. I could see 'Profession: Sailor' being a viable skill to use but that will be up to Willpower since profession is mainly for money making and 'practicing a trade' it sounds like theres wiggle room but i'm not so sure :/ ~

Lol, Suny is one of those types huh? ;) One of these day's you will have to come fish in Alaska and use actually Hawser rope (which is a tow/mooring rope~) it will blow your mind lol. I used to do the crabbing and commercial fishing thing. Dangerous as heck, did for 2 years and i'm never going back, working for 48hrs straight on a fishing boat is crazy. xD

As Kai starts pulling down some of the rigging he notice's a flurry of activity, as the once downtrodden crew of the Sea Born join the effort with reckless abandon. He smiles toothily as he reconsider's his former opinion of them. Soon he is shouting encouragement and helping others to carry or move heavier burdens, the whole process improves Kai's mood. With the work completed the difficult task of splice begins, Kai seems almost apprehensive as he looks at the vast amount of knotting and splicing needed for their plan to succeed. "I have learned much thesse passt turnss but my knowledge of ssailorss knotss is lacking. I will asssisst if I can." Turning away from the mass of ropes, he moves to the small sack of supplies he brought and turns to the tired looking crew of the Sea Born. "It iss a meager ssupply but it iss better then empty sstomachss, we have much work ahead of uss and hunger will do us no good. Sso pleasse eat and drink." He takes a small amount of food from the sack and leaves the rest of it for everyone else to share. He approaches Nerine and Keev and proffers it to them. "Jusst in casse you are hungry, coi ui ti wer bensvelkilti achthend shar coi ui shio si dronilnra, si mi bivai." With that he sets the food near them, bows his head respectfully, and returns to helping with the tow line. He doesn't take any food for himself, he is no a stranger to hunger because his tribe suffered many times when hunting grew scarce and he always chose to hunt hungry rather then eat when others needed it more. Draconic:
"It is not the best food but it is all I brought, I am sorry." Kai will assist in helping with the knots, he won't do the main job. Unless no one else volunteers to do it, then he will reluctantly will try his best to succeed at making the tow line.

Come now your a Dm. Your a mixture of all of the Alignments >=) Nefarious plans are just one part of the grand scheme ;) @ DM: On the Rope Splicing/Knotting: I nominate Suny, even though Kai is dexterous, he just has no technique or official training. But He will make an assist check if allowed ( ^_^)-d @ Thanksgiving~: Being stuck at work they usually cook a huge meal for us but by the time we got back to the main camp the turkey was all gone! xD Although I heard it had been deep fried, so I think I was lucky I missed out lol.

Kai gives this unscaled a level stare and quirked an eyeridge at his odd statement. Kai's chest seems to collapse as he gives a large sigh when the unscaled took no action to cut lines or to act at all, typical and useless. He spares Keev a quick glance, his eyes betraying a glint of sadness at her wounded state and how she pushed her self to the limits. Her noble sacrifice being wasted almost made him bow his head in grief, but he didn't show anymore grief because he had too much respect for her to do that. He would get her too the Brotherhood, to proper rest and healing no matter what burden he had to bear. She deserved that at least for what she had done. Kai looked back at the unscaled before him and felt an emptiness he hadn't felt until before the change. They are quick to save their 'ship' but not aid one who held the line, that is disgusting, how do they not bow their heads in shame!. Perhaps the heat was getting to him but Kai was quickly losing patience at some of the ineptness surrounding him. Some stood their as if waiting for the world to hand them their solution, others work like dogs or bleed themselves dry while they act like fools, he would have laughed had he not need to the strength to avoid doing something foolish. He started to roll his shoulders again to release the tension that had built up, his skull ached like someone had kicked him but he refused to show how weary he was. Keeping calm and with a determined look in his eyes, he moved to the rigging ropes. He inspected the tar covered standing lines and running lines as he contemplated. The distance was far and the ropes varied in strength, would they hold together? After a moment he looks to those assembled, particular the unscaled who last spoke. He quietly says something in draconic before turning away. "Wux renthisj shar tir ehis..." He sighs looks back at the rigging before him with narrowed eye slits, gripping the rope with one hand tested its tension, satisfied he released it and inspected his now tar covered hand as he spoke. "Thiss iss not Hawsser rope but we will make due... Cutting the sstanding liness will weaken the masst and make it ssussceptible to ssnapping when waves hit the sship. Sso once we are nearly clear of thiss, wretched water, we need to sstop where the wavess do not come and repair the liness. Then we will be close enough to the Brotherhood to usse more lines and have sstronger liness to pull it the resst of the way. Do not sstand there let's get to work, cutting thesse liness! they won't do it themsselvess and we will need to bind them together, so move your tzarreth! Unless you wish to stay here?" Looking away from them Kai looks for something sharp and gets to work cutting the lines. He does laugh as he sees Suny is a already in motion, a blur of speed and energy, as always she does not fail to impress him. He barks in his rough elven "Irilmw ilan amemn illa ylayilc, we lean amemn aeymlaaco irilmw cailela laesa oem sa!" Diplomacy [ooc]1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23 Kai is trying to get them moving and activly cutting and splicing the lines, albeit he isn't so nice about it, it still beats standing around and he will not ask twice. Draconic:
"You speak but do nothing... Elven:
"Hard at work as usual, do not work yourself hard leave some for me! HAPPY TURKEY DAY GOBBLE GOBBLE GOBBLE!
