![]() I'm thinking of changing things up a little and going;
I'll take a hit to my skill points but better off on feats. Not sure if I should drop Tengu Wings so I can get both Greater Dirty Trick and Sap Master rather than wait till lvl 11 to have both. Any suggestions? ![]()
![]() Here is what I am currently thinking: Race: Tengu
Feats:
Not sure if I should keep Tengu Wings or swap it for Greater Dirty Trick or Sap Master. ![]()
![]() Scott Wilhelm wrote: Sap feats only work with Blunt weapons, though, right? Claws are Slashing. How will you lock in your Sneak Attack Damage? I like Dirty Tricks. Combat Expertise, Improved Dirty Trick, and Quick Dirty Trick. You get 3 attacks with your Claws and Bite. Blind your opponents in place of your Bite Attack, then get Sneak Attack Damage with your 2 Claws. Claws and Bite attacks have a bludeoning component to them so the qualify for Bludgeoner and the Sap feats. As far as Vanish that would require me spending another talent on getting Ki. Might be worth considering after getting some sleep. Still like Pressure Points though. I'm not sure dipping into anymore classes is doable at this point but I'll have to look at them for other characters. Can't quite swing the 13 Int for Combat Experise but I'll have to look at the Dirty Trick feats. Not sure if I can fit them in but I'll see. My deadlines Friday, so I'll get some sleep and try to see what gels with what I currently have. Ty for info so far. ![]()
![]() Sorry, I took the alternate racial to get the claws. As far as the Bludeoner feat, took for those instances when I need to take an enemy alive and still get sneak attack. I kinda prefer Urban Barb for the Dex Rage and Crowd Control (has helped in several scenarios). I'm curious why you suggest getting rid of Pressure Points? What is better option to replace Offensive Defense with since its out? I don't see how Dirty Fighting or Surprie Maneuvers helps much since they both require me to be flanking to get the benefit or am I missing something? ![]()
![]() I recently got back into PFS after a 2 year hiatus and come to find that their is a better version of the Rogue! And that any rogues made before is allowed to be rebuilt into the new one. I was hoping to get a little advise on how to best adapt him to an unchained rogue. Here are his current stats: Race: Tengu
Feats:
I know the Unchained version gets Weapon Finesse for free so that allows me another feat. I was looking at either Blood Beak or another Extra Rogue Talent though I'm open to suggestions. Or if there is any other tweaks that could be made with all the materiel that has come out since my hiatus (still trying to catch up). Thanks in advance. ![]()
![]() I have been in far too many fights in Society play where a series of bad roles on our side and a series of good ones on the other side had the party on our knees. No cleric can be prepared for everything. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a Channel keep a character from hitting their -Con. So I'd rather be able to heal than not. And it is only one feat to make sure I'm only healing the party. ![]()
![]() Interesting rangerjeff. I play a lot of Society, so I'm pretty sure I want Selective Channelling as my 1st feat (don't want to heal the enemy if I can help it). Since Guided is in play definitely going with a Rapier as my primary weapon. And while I generally dislike Two Weapon Fighting, those Net feats do look interesting. Never used nets before, are they any good? Don't they have a straight & low DC to escape from? Edit: And wouldn't I need to take Agile Maneuvers to really be able to use Combat maneuvers well? ![]()
![]() Guided is actually in one of the Splat books for Parhfinder (Pathfinder 10: A History of Ashes) but your right it's not core so I'll ask. What about a lvl of Gunslinger? The GM has already said that it is emerging in his world. Ideally I'd like to be Buffer/Debuffer that can do something meaningful in combat other than the above since I don't want to be twiddling my thumbs when I run out of spells. Oh, and like having the 14 in Cha since it affords me a decent bonus to social skills (which do come up even in dungeons). ![]()
![]() I'm leaning toward Buffer/Healer and taking ranged shots when not doing the others. I thought also about taking Weapon Finesse and eventually getting a Guided Rapier. Thought it might be a tad harder pull off than range. I also thought about taking a 1 level dip in Gunslinger to do range touch attacks. I'd like to hear what would be the best combat path to take. ![]()
![]() No, just fits the characters background having been raised in a swamp (plus geting Perception as a Class Skill). Sorry, I did pick up Glider though, not sure of giving up Camo (quite a few forests one has to travel through in a quite a few games). Don't know much about the game other than it will be episodic and will mostly be dungeon crawl/combat. ![]()
![]() So I'm making character I've had brewing in my mind for a game. A Grippli Cleric of Cayden Cailean. The character creation is 25 pts, 2 traits, lvl 3, starting wealth is 3140 gp. Here is what I've got: Race: Grippli
Traits: Jungle Guide, Fortified Drinker
So I could use some advise on a second feat as well as what other feats I should take. And equipment since I haven't played many clerics. I'm thinking of being primarily a caster with maybe a little range as well. Thanks in advance to everyone's advice. ![]()
![]() Final build looks like this: Race: Gnome (Eternal Hope replacing Hatred & Defensive Training)
Lvl 3: Awesome Display, Effortless Trickery
![]()
![]() @david: You can break up the hours of use for Coat of Many Stars so you can stretch it out. Plus it saves on investing in expensive armor, which I have found money to be a bit thin in PFS at higher lvls. And as Seriphim84 pointed out I'll be spending most of my money on headbands of Cha and rods so saving money where I can is a plus. @Seriphim84: Hmm maybe my Feat order should be like this; Spell Focus (Illusion), Effortless Trickery, Spell Penetration, Extra Revalation (Moonlight Bridge), Greater Spell Focus (Illusion), and Greater Spell Penetration. And I should purchase Rods of Focus Spell, Persistent Spell, and Piercing Spell. @paul: I plan buffing the party, burning the enemies, and as a last resort Color Spray the enemy. ![]()
![]() @mplindustries: Unfortunately I have heard from judges that you can't crossblood with a Wildblooded Bloodlines mplindustries. Though a 2 lvl dip in Bard would be interesting. Not sure how to alter things to accommodate it though. @stuart: I was thinking of getting a Piercing Spell Rod so that I'd have a plus 9 to overcome SR. That sound good? ![]()
![]() So your suggesting something like this: Race: Gnome (Eternal Hope replacing Hatred & Defensive Training)
Lvl 3: Awesome Display, Heighten Spell
Right? ![]()
![]() I had considered Blackened but I kinda like the idea of a Deaf Illusionist. You do bring up a some good points though, and having some blasts would be neat. I had just considered taking a 1 lvl dip into a Crossblooded Pestilence/Undead Sorcerer to be able to effect some undead and vermin but with blackened I wouldn't need to. And now I have an image of a gnome wearing long flowing robes and people only catching glimpses of his disfigured hands. Something to think about. With your suggestions in mind here is a Blackened version: Race: Gnome (Eternal Hope replacing Hatred & Defensive Training)
Lvl 2: Color Spray, Lighy
I'm not sure what to throw in or if I should change the order. Or what my higher lvl spells should be. Any suggestions? ![]()
![]() Aww, I read that wrong then. So your sayning that I should switch Awesome Display and Coat of Many Stars even though I don't pick up Color Spray till 2nd? As for dipping in Sorcerer to effect undead isn't something I had considered. I had planed on taking Threnodic Spell and it's prerequisite Spell Focus (Necro). Would the dip be worth it over the metamagic feat? And how big of dip would it be? ![]()
![]() Hello all. I played some Society this weekend and had the pleasure of encountering a Heavens Oracle. Loved what she did and thought about making my own. So here is what I have so far: Race: Gnome (Eternal Hope replacing Hatred & Defensive Training)
Lvl 3: Heighten Spell
So how does this look? I've heard Aasimar good Heavens Oracles. Is that a better way to go? Edit: What spells should I be picking up? (Haven't played a Devine Caster in a while) ![]()
![]() Driver 325 yards wrote:
Actually Link Spell only works with spells you cast, rather than items you activate. I've heard several Society Judges point this out at various events. The barbarian will have to get a 2nd level wand of Reduce Animal instead of the cheaper wand of Reduce Person. ![]()
![]() Thanks Glutton. Don't have a character who whose faction is Quadiran before. Though how well he'll do on the faction missions will be interesting since he has no Diplomacy. Plenty of Intimidate, but no Diplomacy. Then again I know a guy with a monk who seems to get by with no Diplomacy and a negative Charisma Mod as a Quidiran. ![]()
![]() Ah, I suppose then at 7 I will be releasing the first Roc and getting a new one? Maybe I'll just take the later feats first and keep the initial Roc. I like that idea better of raising a Roc from a hatching to an adult. That is long as it doesn't die from a random crit. Calagnar you wouldn't know where Roc's are located in Golarion, would you? ![]()
![]() Hello everyone! I'm making myself a Mad Dog Barbarian with a Roc Animal Companion for Society. I'm trying to come up with a back story for him. Thing is I'm not sure what region he will be from since I don't know where Rocs can be found in Golarion. If someone knows this little bit of trivia I would love to hear it. Thanks in advance those who respond. ![]()
![]() Awesome Driver! Though it might be better to switch the Ferocious Mount line with the new Ferocious Beast line. That way the Roc can rage when not used as a mount. I didn't know that Eye for Talent and Animal Companion Feats could be switched at higher levels. Good to know. Edit: Know I need to come up with a good back story for this character. Maybe a tribe of Barbarians who have the Roc as there totem. Not sure where Roc can be found in Golarion though. ![]()
![]() @calagnar: Ah, I see we have different tastes then. One of my favorites settings in 3.5 was Eberron. They had tribes of barbarian halflings that rode various dinosaurs. I loved those crazy little buggers. @Driver: I would love the help. It would be nice to have it by Friday since I'm going to attend a convention where there will be several Society events. But I have other characters to use and at least one that can do the low level stuff. So no real rush. The character would start at lvl 1 and be retired at 12. As for societies restrictions, there's a whole page for what additional resources are allowed (http://paizo.com/pathfinderSociety/about/additionalResources). But the gist is 20 pt buy, core races plus Aasimar, Tieflings, & Tengu, all classes other than those that require you to be evil (can't be Evil), all traits are available other than Campaign ones (Faction replaces them), and no Crafting feats (you have to buy all your gear). I think that covers it. ![]()
![]() @Driver: Unfortunately Optimistic Gambler is not an option (no campaign traits in Society other than the Faction ones). And I don't think it's horrible, it may not be optimal but it is not as bad as say the vast majority of Rogue archetypes that give up Trapfinding. @calagnar: That looks pretty good. Though I don't want to dump CHA due to Handle Animal being CHA based. I already have a Ranger with a wolf, so I'd like to try something else. Based on how I read it, the Mad Dog gets an animal Companion like a Druid so they have a lot more options than my Ranger did. Got any other ideas for a good Animal Companion? @swish: You make some good points there Swish. Now I'm a little torn between buffing my Animal COmpanion with Eye of Talent or getting Furious Focus. And can anyone tell me where the list of approved Animal Companions for Society is? I can't seem to find it. ![]()
![]() Here's a link to the archetype: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/barbarian/archetypes/paizo---b arbarian-archetypes/mad-dog-barbarian-archetype Basically you give up most of your Rage powers, Delay your DR till 10th lvl and Delay Rage till 4th lvl to get an Animal Companion who makes an excellent flank buddy, gets the Improved Drag feat, an awesome ability that involves it dragging opponents to you and an ability that lets you take an attack of opp when the animal succeeds on several different combat maneuvers. If you use one of your few rage powers you can get your animal companion to rage with you. That's the archetype in a nutshell. ![]()
![]() Hello all. I just got my hands on the Animal Archive this last Saturday and saw the Mad Dog archetype for Barbarians and thought, "This is what my next PFS character will be." My problem is that I have never played a Barbarian before (I usually play casters) and am having trouble figuring out what I should do. I know I'm probably going to need to focus primarily on Strength and Constitution (and to a lesser extent Dexterity). I know I'll need at least 10 in Charisma if not higher since I'll need to use Handle Animal to guide Animal Companion. I'm thinking Human for the extra feat at first lvl and Power Attack and Cleave as my feats. I'm also unsure on what traits would be beneficial for a Barbarian. I'm not sure on what animal for my companion, though a T-Rex sounds pretty cool as one since at 7 you can ride it. So here is what I have so far: Race: Human
Feats: Power Attack, Cleave
Any and all advise is welcome and thanks in advance to those who respond. |
