Scarab Sages

I recently got back into PFS after a 2 year hiatus and come to find that their is a better version of the Rogue! And that any rogues made before is allowed to be rebuilt into the new one. I was hoping to get a little advise on how to best adapt him to an unchained rogue. Here are his current stats:

Race: Tengu
Traits: Reactionary: +2 Init
Mind over Matter: +1 Will
Alignment: CG
Deity: Hei Feng
Faction: Andoran (former Lantern) (know I need to change to a new one)
Languages: Common, Tengu, Tien, Draconic, Verssian, Thassolonian, Abyssal, Infernal, Azlanti, Aklo, Celtial, Chellish
Classes:
_Rogue (Scout/Swordmaster) 6 (Trap Spotter, Offensive Def, Pressure Points)
_Barbarian (Urban) 2 (Lesser Fiend Totem)
_Fighter (Lore Warden) 1
Ability Scores:
_Str 10
_Dex 22
_Con 14 (Belt of Mighty Con +2)
_Int 10
_Wis 16
_Cha 10
AC: 25 (Glamoured +2 Mithral Chainshirt, Ring of Prot. +1, Jingasa of the Fortunate Soldier, Dusty Rose Ion Stone)
Fort: +11
Ref: +13
Will: +8
Melee: +14 (Agile Amulet of Mighty Fists +1)
Range: +13
CMB: +13
CMD: 24
Init: +8
Skills:
_Acrobatics +17
_Appraise +4
_Climb: +4
_Disable Device +21
_Escape Artist +10
_Fly: +6
_Kn Local +4
_Kn Nature +4
_Linguistics +15
_Perception +22 (Eyes of the Eagle)
_Sense Motive +12
_Sleight of Hand +12
_Stealth +19
_Survival +12
_Swim +4
Attacks:
_Bite 1d3+7 B/P/S
_Claw 1d3+7 B/S
_Gore 1d8+9 P
_Shortbow 1d6

Feats:
_Weapon Finesse
_Agile Maneuvers
_Tengu Wings
_Extra Rogue Talent: Pressure Point
_Bludgeoner

I know the Unchained version gets Weapon Finesse for free so that allows me another feat. I was looking at either Blood Beak or another Extra Rogue Talent though I'm open to suggestions. Or if there is any other tweaks that could be made with all the materiel that has come out since my hiatus (still trying to catch up). Thanks in advance.

So I'm making character I've had brewing in my mind for a game. A Grippli Cleric of Cayden Cailean. The character creation is 25 pts, 2 traits, lvl 3, starting wealth is 3140 gp. Here is what I've got:

Race: Grippli
Str: 10
Dex: 16
Con: 13
Int: 10
Wis: 18
Cha: 14

Traits: Jungle Guide, Fortified Drinker
Domains: Liberation, Travel
Skills: Diplomacy 3 ranks, Heal 1 rank, Knowledge Religion 1 rank, Linguistics 1 rank, Peception 1 rank, Sense Motive 1 rank
Feats: Selective Channelling, ???

So I could use some advise on a second feat as well as what other feats I should take. And equipment since I haven't played many clerics. I'm thinking of being primarily a caster with maybe a little range as well. Thanks in advance to everyone's advice.

Hello all. I played some Society this weekend and had the pleasure of encountering a Heavens Oracle. Loved what she did and thought about making my own. So here is what I have so far:

Race: Gnome (Eternal Hope replacing Hatred & Defensive Training)
Str: 8
Dex: 14
Con: 14
Int: 10
Wis: 10
Cha: 19
Traits: Dangerously Curious, Reactionary
Feats: Spell Focus (Illusion)
Curse: Deaf
Revalation: Coat of Many Stars
Favored Class Bonus: 1/2 Oracles Curse

Lvl 3: Heighten Spell
Lvl 4: Awesome Display, +1 Cha
Lvl 5: Spell Focus (Necromancy)
Lvl 7: Threnodic Spell, Lure of the Heavens
Lvl 8: +1 Cha
Lvl 9: Persistant Spell
Lvl 11: Piercing Spell, Moonlight Bridge

So how does this look? I've heard Aasimar good Heavens Oracles. Is that a better way to go?

Edit: What spells should I be picking up? (Haven't played a Devine Caster in a while)

Scarab Sages

Hello everyone! I'm making myself a Mad Dog Barbarian with a Roc Animal Companion for Society. I'm trying to come up with a back story for him. Thing is I'm not sure what region he will be from since I don't know where Rocs can be found in Golarion. If someone knows this little bit of trivia I would love to hear it. Thanks in advance those who respond.

Scarab Sages

Hello all. I just got my hands on the Animal Archive this last Saturday and saw the Mad Dog archetype for Barbarians and thought, "This is what my next PFS character will be."

My problem is that I have never played a Barbarian before (I usually play casters) and am having trouble figuring out what I should do. I know I'm probably going to need to focus primarily on Strength and Constitution (and to a lesser extent Dexterity). I know I'll need at least 10 in Charisma if not higher since I'll need to use Handle Animal to guide Animal Companion. I'm thinking Human for the extra feat at first lvl and Power Attack and Cleave as my feats. I'm also unsure on what traits would be beneficial for a Barbarian. I'm not sure on what animal for my companion, though a T-Rex sounds pretty cool as one since at 7 you can ride it. So here is what I have so far:

Race: Human
STR 16 (+2 racial)
DEX 14
CON 14
INT 10
WIS 10
CHA 14

Feats: Power Attack, Cleave
Traits: ???
Animal Companion: ???

Any and all advise is welcome and thanks in advance to those who respond.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Hello fellow Pathfinders. I recently won the Advance Races Guide at a local game store's raffle. Thumbing through it and stumbled upon the Swordmaster Rogue archetype that the Tengu's get. I have been looking to play a roguish character and had yet to find something that wowed me. Then a friend pointed out the Tiger Trance and pairing it with the Scout archetype's sneak on charge ability. Maybe pairing it with the Offensive Defense rogue talent and two weapon fighting.

Now this sounded awesome to me! However, I'm having trouble putting it all together. I've got a rough character concept, wandering swordsmen type who has fallen in with Pathfinders after acquiring several skills to help him survive in his time before. He is a bit of a magpie and likes shiny things. Generally doesn't like authority figures or elders ordering him around. So probably a Shadow Lodge member. Here is what I have so far:

Race: Tengu
Class: 1 Rogue (Scout/Swordmaster)
Ability Scores (after Racial Mods):
Str: 10
Dex: 18
Con: 12
Int: 10
Wis: 16
Cha: 10

Traits: Reactionary, ???
Feats: Weapon Finesse
Skills: Acrobatics, Disable Device, Know. Local, Linguistics, Perception, Sense Motive, Stealth, Survival

Skills to pick up: 1 rank of Climb & Swim, Know. Nature, Sleight of Hand

So my questions are:
1) Do the stats look right?
2) Should I go the Two Weapon Fighting route? Or just take Weapon Finesse and use an Elven Curved Blade? If I do forgo Two Weapon fighting should I still pick up Offensive Defense?
3) Should I keep Swordtrained? Or trade it out for one of the other two options (Exotic Weapons Training/Claw Attack)?
4) Besides reactionary I'm having trouble figuring what would be a good Trait for the character?
5) Is there a good way to boost his CMB so he can be reasonably sure at making the Tiger Trance check?

Plus any other advise would be welcome.

So I'm getting into a online campaign and we are designing our own races (11-20RP) for our races. So I designed the one race I really wanted to be able to play, a Kappa. Here is what I got for the race:

Kappa
Type: Humanoid(Aquatic, Kappa)
Size: Small
Ability Score Racial Bonus: +2 Dex, +2 Cha
Languages: Common, Kappa
Bonus Languages: Aboleth, Aquan, Draconic, Elven, Goblin, Sylvan, Tengu
Vision: Low-Light Vision, Darkvision 120 ft
Speed: Land 30ft, Swim 40ft
Claws: 1d3
Amphibious (Ex): Members of this race can breathe both air and water.
Water Sense (Ex): Members of this race can sense vibrations in water, granting them blindsense 30 feet against creatures that are touching the same body of water.
Spell Resistance (Ex): 11 + character level.
Swift as Shadows (Ex): Members of this race reduce the penalty for using Stealth while moving at full speed by 5, and reduce the Stealth check penalty for sniping by 10.

Kappa Build: Humanoid: Kappa (0), Normal Speed (0), Small (0), Flexible Ability Score Modifier(2 RP), Standard Language (0 RP), Low-light Vision (1), Darkvision 120ft (3), Swim (2 RP), Powerful Swimmer (1 RP), Amphibious (2 RP), Water Sense (1 RP), Greater Spell Resistance (3 RP), Swift as Shadows (3 RP), Claws (2), Total: 20

So now I'm trying to build a ninja with the Kapppa. I had another thread on a strength based ninja before, but I'm going with a Dex build this time. We are starting a level 3 and a 32 Point Build. Here is what I have so far:

Str:12
Dex:18
Con:14
Int:14
Wis:10
Cha:18

Skills Ranks: Acrobatics (3), Bluff (2), Climb (1), Diplomacy (1), Disable Device (3), Disguise (1), Escape Artist (3), Knowledge (local) (1), Knowledge (nobility) (1), Perception (3), Sense Motive (1), Sleight of Hand (3), Stealth (3), Swim (1), and Use Magic Device (3)

Feats: Weapon Finesse, Two-Weapon Fighting

Does look good? What feats should I be looking at further down the line? And thank you in advance for your help.

Scarab Sages

I normally play casters and don't have much experience with playing a rogue/ninja. So I come to you all in hopes of critiquing my build for a PFS session at a local game store tomorrow. Here is my Str-based Ninja:

Half-Orc Ninja
Str: 16 (+2 racial)
Dex: 14
Con: 13
Int: 12
Wis: 10
Cha: 14

Alternative Racial: Toothy (1d4 bite, replaces Orc Ferocity)

Trait: Armor Expert (reduce armor check penalty by 1), Legacy of Sands (+1 Will)

Feat: Dodge

Skills: Acrobatics, Disable Device, Escape Artist, Intimidate, Knowledge:Local, Perception, Sleight of Hand, Stealth, UMD

Languages: Common, Orc, Tien

Equipment: Backpack, Theives' Tools, Studded Leather, Katana, Shuriken [20], Waterskin

Thinking of picking up Power Attack at 3rd, but not sure what to take after that. Open to all suggestions.

I saw this thread (http://paizo.com/forums/dmtz57yv?Eastern-Weapons-from-Ultimate-Combat) and the general consensus was that they are available in PFS. My question is are they still in the same weapon catagory as presented in Ultimate Combat or are they all considered exotic weapons?

Scarab Sages

I was recently reading a lot of the posts about the Gunslinger archetype Pistolero and all of them seem to revolve around dual wielding (and the various tricks of reloading 2 guns). I'm curious if one could build an effective Pistolero who only used one pistol in an era that doesn't have advanced firearms available. So does anyone know of a good build that only uses one pistol?

Scarab Sages

Hello out there to my fellow Pathfinders. I had an idea inspired by anime (yeah, yeah, I know). I was inspired by Natsu Dragneel from Fairy Tail, so I decided to make a similar character for society play. The best way I thought to do that was doing a Monk using the Mater of Many Style, Drunken Master, and Qinggong. Here is the build so far:

Human lvl 1 Monk (Mater of Many Styles/Drunken Master/Qinggong)
Stats:
Str 16 (+2 Human Bonus)
Dex 13
Con 14
Int 11
Wis 16
Cha 07

Feats:
Dragon Style (Monk Bonus)
Dodge (Human Bonus)
Crane Style (1st Lvl)

Advancement:
2nd: Dragon Ferocity
3rd: Power Attack
4th: Trade out Slow Fall for Barkskin
5th: Elemental Fist
6th: Two-Weapon Fighting
7th: Efreeti Style
9th: Crane Wing
10th: Efreeti Stance
11th: Dragon Roar

I would have liked my defensive style to be snake, but I can't seem to get it to work quite right. I thought the Drunken Master worked well since their is no way to eat fire, I could instead 'drink it'. I built this to be fun to play and hopefully survivable. Any advise on how effective this looks or ways to make it better would be appreciated.

Scarab Sages

So I wanted to create something weird and fun to play in a society event this Saturday. After talking about it with others I settled upon this concept, the Japanese transforming super hero (Power Ranger, Kamen Rider, etc.) And I figured the best way to do that was to take levels of Synthesist and Paladin. He'll shout out all his attacks, and always fight for justice!

But since I'm fairly new to society and I know there is some ambiguity surrounding the Sythesist, I'm unsure on how to build it. I'm thinking having Str & Dex as dump stats, and start as synth. Other than that I'm open to suggestion on how to build this for society play. Thank you in advance.

Scarab Sages

So I just moved to an area where I can get into a semi regular Pathfinder Society game, and am unsure on how well my first character concept will fair in the setting.

So here what I have so far: He will be a Human Crossblooded Sorcerer, with his to blood lines being Sage (the mutated form of Arcane) and Draconic (?). His stats are:

STR 08
CON 14
DEX 14
INT 18
WIS 12
CHA 10

Sage switches in INT for CHA for all Sorcerer related abilities, which fits with a more knowledgeable character I plan on playing.

So my questions are this: Does the Sage also apply to the Draconic powers? Is the build legal (can I be Crossblooded and have one the bloodlines be Wildblooded)? Which Dragon's blood is a better bet with spells available? Does it look good so far for Society? And any suggestion on skill/spell/feat selection with society restrictions in mind?

And thanks to those who respond.
