Also sitting at the table near the strange Andoren fellow with the outrageous accent, is a worn traveler with bright, interesting eyes that watch everything. The road's dust is still on his clothing, attesting to his recent arrival in Fort Inevitable.

He pulls forth a sketchbook from a surgeon's pouch and begins making drawings of The Black's mustache and face. If one looks closely, perhaps they will be unnerved by the chirugeons' close, clinical examination of his subject. It is almost as if he were... dissecting his subject with his eyes. <shiver>

Before any can see his sketch, he hastily puts it away and extends his hand to whatever newcomer sits at the table.

"Taldus Bellerophon. PROFESSOR Taldus Bellerophon, at your service. Caravan chirugeon at the moment. But I'm looking for other work. The road and its dangers do not suit one of my temperament, I've found."

Professor Bell is a Merciful Healer looking for less frightening work than standing a watch on caravan duty, beating off goblins, avoiding dire wolves' fangs and dodging ettin clubs. Perhaps archeologist/ruin explorers could use his assistance. They always seem to come back with fever, infected mosquito bites and random injuries that he could easily fix right up. Check his profile for fully-fledged background. I made him for an aborted Dragon's Demand PBP. He's PFS legal and can be immediately instantiated as a PFS character.

Derek, to cast that spell, you need to be within 25' of the ettin. She was 35' away (just south of Brethon's body). You actually either need to move further to cast that spell or, only if you have no movement left, pick another action.

Command is Close Range 25'+5'/each 2 levels, so... that would a 30ft radius. NEvertheless, Prof Bell isn't even in THAT range. And he took 30ft of movement to get down at an accelerated rate, so... new action:

Professor Bellerophon immediately follows Denge's example. Scrambling down the rope at top speed.

Accelerated Climb: 1d20 - 5 ⇒ (11) - 5 = 6

At the base of the boulder, he notices that Albern is close. Very close. Too close. To the ettin. Icy fear claws at his veins. Too close.

Instead of moving towards Albern, he looks at the ettin and says, "FLEE!"

Cast Command DC 13 again, hoping for a low roll by the ettin.

When the light vanishes beneath Brethon's foot, Professor Bellerophon is left with nothing but the rough hemp rope between his fingers, the stone beneath his feet and the stench of his terrified bowels.

Brethon's upright and alive, though. Pharasma's power was enough to bring him back from the Paths of the Dead. He'll be barely able to stand, I imagine.

When Taldus is at the top of the rope, standing atop the boulder, he will call out to Brethon, "Where are you, Brethon!?" He walks towards the sound of Brethon's voice, drawing the adept's wand of healing as he goes. When he feels the wand touch Brethon, he concentrates and summons forth its magic.

We're going to have to theater of the mind it from the perspective of most of you since the lights went out. When the time comes, state what your intent is and how you think you may be able to accomplish it (e.g., Professor Bellerophon attempts to move where he thinks that goblin dog will be out of the channel). Realistically, it's going to take 2 rounds to set that up, one to finish scaling the rope and get on the Boulder, and another to do the channeling. In that second round you'll have enough movement to get wherever you want. The dying goblin dog won't have moved, but others may have.

Errr, I think I should be able to finish the climb (15ft of movement needed still), then move 15ft and channel. Or I'll wand Brethon first by calling out to him. Then move and channel. Hmmm.

Would stepping on the arrow be considered a move action? If so, Brethon could 1) Delay until just before the ettin; 2) move to cover the arrow, then 3) ready his Standard Action to uncover the arrow once the ettin's turn is over. This would allow us to turn off the lights for Jebline's turn and turn them back on for ours. I'm sure I'm missing something. Can't be this easy. Of course, the ettin would eventually get wise and in later turns refuse to act, readying an action for when the light comes back on.

"Oh Pharasma save me!" he cries. He bolts straight to the boulder and the dangling rope and begins scrambling up the rock. His soft academic's hands scrape and tear on the rough hemp rope, leaving behind flecks of bloody skin in his haste to get away from the two-headed horror.

I moved Doc Bell 15ft to the rope, and then the rest of his move (45ft) will be spent ascending the rope. Next round he'll spend 15ft going up.

Art: to prep my coming actions, I'm wondering where the other dying-but-not-dead goblins and goblin dogs are. I'm trying to recall, but I believe most of the goblins were down in the northern end of the ravine. I'm trying to position a Channel up on the boulder where it won't revive foes. I've put the dark blue template where I'm thinking. Can you tell me if any foes would be within that indicated 30ft radius?

He can't reach a point where he can heal both Denge and Brethon, unless he also heals the goblin. At least not this round. So... better the goblin than the ettin. He moves and heals Brethon and Rafaelis and Denge and Albern (and Bear'f who doesn't need it). I created two new 30ft radius templates in blue. Light blue is a template centered on the center axis of four squares. The dark blue is centered upon a full square. I also turned on the Roll20 30ft aura around Professor Bellerophon. Sadly, it is circular, not an actual block template. But its cool. :)

Professor Bellerophon watches as yet another comrade is in mortal peril. Hardly knowing the gnome he doesn't feel terror at his approaching Dornish death, but rather at the terrible might of the ettin and what it can (and will!) do to HIM if it gets a chance.

He calls up his years of experience as a professor of arrogant and entitled Pharasmin clerics, puffs out his chest and steps forward. Using his imperious and confident Professor's Voice, he commands the ettin, "Drop him, Jebline!"

Five foot step to bring the ettin within 30ft. Command (Will DC13) spell. I took some poetic license with the wording. The PRD says simply "Drop." Hope that's ok.

Professor Bellerophon watches in horror as Denge is hammered into near-paste by the ettin's club.

I can heal them all! But, I'm on the wrong side. I'll help the ettin, too. The Lady of the Graves is uninterested in such things as friends and foe. I must get to a point where my radiant healing will brush only my comrades.

A warm blue light, perhaps only visible to him, radiates forth at his beseeching of the Lady Pharasma.

Either the light spell can be on the unloaded crossbow, or the crossbow can be loaded but the bolt unlit, or the Professor can only have taken a 5' step. I assume you would prefer the latter. Would you please move the Professor's token to where a 5' step would have taken him (or let us know that the spell is on the unladen crossbow or that the spell is uncast?

I meant for him to START loading, but not complete it, due to his Light spell epiphany. I was originally going to fire the crossbow, and then I experienced the same epiphany Professor Bellerophon did: he can cast Light! So I rewrote it to reflect his hesitation WHILE loading. He does not complete the loading. Apologies if it is confusing. So... standard=light, move action=move towards boulder.

Professor Bellerophon hears Rafaelis' shouted comment about the lights and glances from the goblin dog to the ettin and back again.

"Uhh..." he says, unsure of what to do. He decides to aid his friends as best he can while light remains. He pulls mightily on the crossbow's bowstring, straining to cock it quickly enough to load the bolt he holds in his other hand. Quick, quick, I need to fire... Fire! Light! LIGHT!

He eases his finger off the crossbow trigger and concentrates, causing light to blossom from the shaft of the crossbow bolt.

He moves quickly forward, towards the ettin atop the boulder. He stares up the boulder at the rope hanging in front of him.

Am I really going to climb this rope into combat with a two headed giant who just turned my friend Penelope into goo? thinks the academic with a large amount of trepidation.

Perhaps trepidation is too polite a word, too fancy a word. Professor Bellerophon feels his bowels loosen in fear.

Light spell on the crossbow bolt. Then move action to the base of the boulder where the rope is.

Professor Bellerophon looks towards Bear'f, knowing he is about to act any second.

Professor Bellerophon moves up to the prone adept who has regained consciousness. He moves quietly, noting that the adept is acting as if he is blind and stunned. He takes the bloody dagger recently used to dispatch the adepts cohort and attacks the creature.

Attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (16) + 0 = 16
Dagger dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 4

Correct me if I'm wrong, but all the modifiers are on the stunned/blinded/prone person's side, right? -4-2-2AC and loss of dex bonus, I think. I don't get any pluses, though.

Ok, prof bell coup de graces the adept.

Ok. Prof Bell fires his crossbow at the ettin, assuming a a clear line of fire. Otherwise, he moves and fires.

Art: can Doc Bell access the other adept's wand now that Brethon dispelled the entangle? I'm unclear which entangle is the "second" entangle.

As for Brethon, I say he ought to move in and bring his thwack stick to bear on the situation. He could alternatively, stop attacking and cast entangle to our benefit. To do so, he ought to caution his fellows to attack from one side of the ettin only, leaving a clear area to cast the entangle, if necessry. In summary: Attack! We'll consider an entangle later..
