Praink is unable to find a spell that seems to fit the situation, so he goes back to his trusty stand-by. He sends shadowy tendris out to hinder one of the creatures. attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14 Using my binding darkness school power on the nearest creature. It is entangled on a hit.

I want to copy the ant haul scroll we got earler into my spellbook, along with the two free spells from leveling up (scorching ray and shadow anchor), so I'll need 11 hours out of the dungeon (8 hours of sleep + 3 hours of copying). If I correctly understand how we're doing things, I don't need to roll for the two new spells (just spend the time), but I do need to roll for ant haul. So: Spellcraft: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25 I think that's a success! I think I'm ready now.

"I would not advise engaging them closely. They can suck the life right out of you. As a matter of fact, I recommed running." A shadowy fog emanates from Praink's hand and tries to wrap itself around the legs of the nearest enemy. Then, Praink starts retreating. Binding Darkness as a standard action, and then retrace my steps 20'.

"I feel rather strongly that we should not attempt to descend these stairs at this time. It is reaching that period of day in which it is customary for me to lie dormant as I recharge my arcane energy. I believe the less loquacious would say, 'You're keeping me up past my bed-time.'"

"It would be advisable for everyone to maintain their current spatial coordinates momentarily while I attempt to discern exactly the function of this statue. It is immensely powerful, and immensely dangerous. I definitely don't need any distractions, and--if only because the continuation of your biological functions increases the probability of the same result in my own case--I would hate for any harm to come to any of you as a result of your demonstrable ignorance." I'll concentrate on it for the full three rounds, per detect magic, and the following are my Knowledge (arcana) check for the school(s) of the aura and the artifact's properties, should those be required. Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25 Spellcraft: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12

Is Praink's detect magic picking up an aura from the champion's gear? "Insufficient data exists regarding the desirability of the options presented. Recommend we perambulate along a randomly designated path. That is to say, for the simple-minded, 'it doesn't matter to me.'"

Looked at from another angle, though, it really isn't all that much damage. It's 1d4/CL to one target, which is the same amount of damage burning hands (another first-level spell) does to as many creatures as you can pack into a 15 ft. cone. I rolled nearly max damage. It could just as easily have been 3 damage. Would you think that was OP?

Praink begins dancing as he sings, "Drop it like it's hot!/Drop it like it's hot!" casting burning disarm on the skeleton's sword. Success on DC 16 Reflex save:
The skeleton drops his sword as it becomes too hot to handle. He will provoke AoOs if he tries to pick it up Failure on DC 16 Reflex save: The skeleton is unable to drop his sword in time, and it burns him. fire damage: 3d4 ⇒ (3, 4, 3) = 10

Praink heads for the exit and pauses in front of it. He turns to Tofutee and says: "Would you care to inspect for the presence of unwanted complications? I will do the same.". If it's safe, Praink will motion to Tofutee to open the door. Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31

Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23 Praink walks over, careful to walk only on safe spaces, and looks at the book. Something is familiar about that title...Ah! He turns to the rest of the party and says: This picture-book is very rare. I estimate we can get about 100 gold coins for it."

When Praink sees Misty point, his prodigious intellect jumps to the conclusion that Misty has found the treasure, and he immediately uses said prodigious intellect to push her in the direction she is pointing. If I can see the bottom of the pit well enough from my vantage point that I can tell when Misty is about to hit the bottom, then I will send her down at max speed and put the brakes on at the absolute last second to keep her from hitting. Otherwise, I'll let her float down and hope we have enough time.

When Praink sees that the passageway ends ahead of him, he hesitates. I don't really want to go down there alone, but procedures exist for a reason. Praink then heads to the dead end and checks for a secret door. Perception, w/familiar bonus: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16

I think I understand how this is supposed to work. I'll do the next passageway clockwise from the one for which Tofutee rolled. Table 1: 1d20 ⇒ 2 The passageway goes another 60' down, and I roll again. Periodic check: 1d20 ⇒ 1 Then it comes to a dead end.

"I believe those," Praink points at the sacks, "contain our spoils. Grab them, somebody, and let's follow bacon-lady.". GM: I want to try to identify the aura. If I've already gotten to the point where I know that the aura is on Bud, then one more round should be enough to identify it. Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30[/dice]

"I am glad to see that you possess sufficient intellect to recognize the value of my work. I don't have any leeches, and I am unaware of any method for bringing about a stop to the exsanguinatory process that is peculiar to creatures of this ilk. Not that I'm very distressed about that particular fact: the fewer flighty, disorganized creatures around, the better. Mistress It'Dupree clearly needs to initiate a review of her hiring practices; one should hire only reliable, trustworthy minions, not ones that can disappear whenever they want and don't follow directions."

"Original plan doomed; back-up initiated," Praink exclaims as he moves the illusory minotaur so that the net presumably marking the hag's location is directly between him and the illusion. Then, as he taps his lapel, he intones: "She seems to have an invisible touch-a." A little creature darts out of Praink's shirt, darting directly for the net's location.
Ranny, touch attack: 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 6 + 2 + 2 = 28

Round 2, assuming that I can tell where Hattie is by the location of the net. Praink pulls a piece of fleece out of his pouch and begins casting. The image of a duplicate Larg appears opposite the real Larg. casting threatning Minor Image in (-H, 26) so that Hattie will be flanked. If Hattie interacts with it (however you decide to define that) the Will save to disbelieve the illusion is DC 18.
