Fair point, but we're traveling with innocents now. Where are our charges on the map bytheway? Also did the map we have show we could us the other path behind us or the waterway to get where we need to without passing by Paracount? Also Poppy would absolutely be okay with using the torch to set the BBEG aflame after she herself takes the required fire damage and starts initiative given her attempts to look intimidating have been less believable than Ida's or Ephesian's.

I'm fully planning on Poppy taking fire damage so I can use the reaction from "eat fire" and make us concealed.

if you want to grant a bonus given Poppy's taking 1 point of fire damage I wouldn't say no... She's happy to take the 3 points of bludgeoning as rolled if that's how GM tiger wants to rule how torches work, but Poppy wasn't beating the random scratch parchment from her backpack as much as she is using it as a decoy to light her fingers with 1 point of fire damage while also trying to appear intimidating. This is my first time actually getting to trigger my character's fire resistance reaction and the ability to belch smoke so happy to take any pointers on it. I was planning on just belching in the 5 ft burst just to the left of Poppy that will get all PCs besides Poppy and Squeg.

"Paracount, I kinda hate to burst your bubble, but your alleged accusations aside, my comrades are right. Body recovery kits are common place and every seasoned agent worth their salt has already proven they would die for the Pathfinder society a dozen times over before bowing to petty threats as this."

Pathfinder Society lore check if I can use it to aid either roll...? Thematically I like Ephesian's statement best as I'd OOC rather not fight all of them and Ida's feels more threat-like, but mechanically it may just be better for me to roll my own Diplomacy. If I had a chance to assess the looks of the group standing before me I'd like to know if Paracount or Marius seems like either could be bluffing... Or discovery skills wise I'd like to know what influence rolls would be most effective, but I know we're running very low on time so nbd if it's impossible to resolve diplomatically.

If it's looking like they have every intention of killing us either way then I would have no problem using thievery/stealth to quietly try and light the torch I keep on my belt for this purpose (because if I take fire damage I can belch smoke and give us all concealment) while monologuing

"Secondly, unlike Hellknights who like playing with their targets a little too much, we kill like we mean it. We also don't torch the stuff our bosses told us to get, that's much more a Marius and Petra kinda move if you ask me.

this would be when my torch would light up if possible, as I'd love to have Poppy wave it at my bag which holds none of the valuables

So how about we all talk like adults in a sewer network and adjust our expectations just a touch? Can't we all find a more reasonable middle ground?

Poppy has been eyeing the new book and Dame Sabina's reaction with concern.

"We most certainly will do our best Benedet, but hard to know how best to protect something we know nothing about in a house that's on fire. I don't know too many folks that don't relocate after enemies take up residence in their home, but I suppose it could feel a bit like running a murdery fun house at the same time you're pretending to be a poltergeist... Poppy academic musings trail off indecipherably.

"Regardless, I think current siege and enemy activity make maintaining the Lodge's full operations untenable. To Squeg's point, can we walk and talk? As much as the reader in me wants to know what's so special about this book, I do also want to make sure we've recovered anything or anyone else that might still need urgent rescue... you know given the fires and ongoing siege...?"

Can you also make a cognitive mutagen for yourself and boost your Arcana roll? If so that might help https://2e.aonprd.com/Equipment.aspx?ID=3316&Redirected=1

Poppy, do you wanna HP that natural 1? :) You'll also need a second attempt after this one anyway.

Actually, since this one requires 2 successes, I can count the first roll as a success w/ the +2. The 14 is a failure, however. Do you want to HP that one instead (same HP, just a different roll)

I consider this as all happening at the same time :)

I guess if that nat 1 was not a crit failure then I'm fine with using that HP to re-roll my second roll's second attempt, which led to my finally having a crit success. If that counts as only 1 success then I can keep rolling, but hopefully it's not necessary.

Unfortunately that took me at minimum 3 failures and a hero point to get here

Pathfinder Society Roll number 2, attempt 2, now gonna use a Hero Point to hopefully do better: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 8 + 2 = 30

Also I'm not sure the Squeg would need to hero point given his first roll should now have succeeded with Ida's 'smoothe-the-path effect..' which should have affected Squeq's roll... but also understand if it doesn't because of how turn-order/roll processing can get messed up between with delays and PbP.

Anywho, I guess this doggie needs a friend, though I think Poppy worries we might be better off just preparing to fight/surprise the people who come for the alarm...

It sounds like we're currently sitting at:

2.5ish for gossip
1 for forging
1.5 for stealthing/scouting
*with the .5 representing the uncertainty I raised around my feat's applicability.

Given we've heard no updates while we wrestle with the infiltration dilemma, I will just go ahead and commit fully to gossips to keep things moving. There is a fire in the hayloft afterall!

@Martei if you want to weigh in that would likely help keep up rolling, otherwise we'll have to take your silence as ascent. I imagine a bard would want to gossip, but Idk your character.
