Hi,
I'd like some more clarification on this. I talked with a friend that is more attentive on the boards than I am. He said it's been ruled fairly conservatively "only available for characters of the associated race" means that only for that race. However, he also mentioned that certain things are exempt from this (like the Treesinger Archetype). So that implies there is a little more flexibility than at first interpretation of this ruling.
So my question is:
If I count as that race for whatever reason, but not specifically that race, can I still take these things as long as I qualify? Some examples of this are the Half Elf Racial Trait, the Aasimar Racial Replacement Trait etc.
Thanks!
Go ahead & send 'Humans' (if you haven't already) & cancel it after that.
Thanks!
About Magus Bladebound Archetypes:
The 'enchantments' that you put on your blade are pretty cool (especially between the both sets of class features). However, they are fairly limited, in a sense. What if I want to put 'Holy' or 'Bane' on my Black Blade? Am I just not able to? Or if I'm able to, how does that work?
Unlike the Magus core class 'Arcane Pool' feature which says it 'stacks' with any exsisting enchantments, and what have you. The Black Blades weapon just says it advances like 'X.'
Thanks!

Toothy and Razortusk ar in the APG. How do these work? Is there an implied relationship, or are they 2 ways to get the same effect?
Toothy says you get a D4 Piercing 'primary' attack and that is pretty much all it says.
Razortusk says you can do a D4 'primary' 'bite' attack or secondary attack in a full attack action at -5. it doesn't have 'Toothy' as a pr-req only 1/2orc.
...So can you only use Toothy as a primary attack? Razortusk can be used as either?
This is further confused because there is a 'trait' in 'Orcs of Golarion' called 'Tusked' that does the same thing as RazorTusk?
...So there is a 'replacement trait' a 'race trait' and a 'feat' all of which do the same thing... sort of. They all are described differently.
...I'm confused
I know this was touched on on another thread but I'm looking for some further clarification. Please direct me if it is addressed elsewhere.
I know that Josh has ruled that all scrolls are crafted by a cleric, druid, or wizard.
...and the answer to; "How does my Bard cast this?" was "...take ranks in UMD."
My question is:
How do I teach a scroll of Restoration, lesser to my witch familiar?
Obviously it has to be crafted by one of the divine casters. So do I need to take ranks in UMD as a Witch? Which is;
A) not a class skill
and
B) not (what I would consider) a primary or even secondary stat for witches.
...and, if so, isn't this a bit of a 'skill tax' having to take ranks in a skill to fulfill a primary function of my class?
My other question is is it assumed that wands are crafted by these as well? I think they are.
...So my witch is, essentially, inept when using a CLW wand in combat?
What are all the differences between Version one of the Final Playtest Document and Version Two?
I ask because I printed out a copy of Version 1 and went through almost an entire ink cartridge and would like to print off the specific pages that have changes in Version 2.
Thanks for your help!
EDIT: Sorry I see it... HEH ...Must have missed the thread
Josh,
I was playing a society mod last weekend and was trying out a Witch. We fought animated objects which are, of course, immune to mind effecting. We ruled it would effect them because it is a lot like "Hexblade Curse" which was a necromantic effect. Then I looked at it again and in flavor text it says "The witch can cause doubt to creep into the mind of a foe" which implies it is mind effecting.
This was brought up at the beginning of the Witch playtest and has not been addressed. Can you give me on a PFS ruling on this or explain what I’m missing, and why it doesn't need a ruling?
Also, is diabolist being considered as an acceptable prestige class?
EDIT: Talking about Evil Eye... Sorry
Hi,
I ordered a book and a subscription at the same time, figuring that the current subscription title and the other book would ship together. I realized after seeing the other book was going to ship by itself first that I needed to click on "first availability" to get the current subscription title to ship right away. That created two orders 1242136 & 1351542.
Can these ship together? I had assumed I'd save on shipping if they did.
Sorry for any inconvenience.
James

Thanks for the aid revamp on the Coven hex. It is a bit more straight forward than what I suggested, but, I think it is great!
I like that there are more defined rules for replacing familiars and what spells they come with. I think that it still is a little harsh though. If a familiar dies in combat, sure, you can say that the Witch should have protected their familiar better.
But what if you take advanced familiar and have spent 1000 gold on scrolls and what have you and you just take an advanced familiar? You’re out all that money? You can back up wizard books, stick them in extra-dimensional spaces, buy better spell books etc. All to make sure you protect your spell accompaniment, but one botched save vrs fireball and you lose everything? There is no way to "back-up" your familiar or even “upgrade” it without going to a base-line witch of your level?
I also like the idea of having the "bonus" be "bonus" spells, in that, they are treated like domain spells for clerics. This was brought up a couple times I was a little disappointed it didn't make it.
Overall I like what I saw and am happy that the AoO hexes went to a case by case basis as opposed to everyone provoking.
I'm thinking about signing up for a subscription, but, I already own a lot of products previously in that line. So if I sign up for the subscription do I get the current featured product and the products going forward? Or do I get everything in that line currently released and future products?
Thanks!
Anyone have a link for a good free generic spell sheet?
Thanks ahead of time!

Right now the Coven Hex is pretty useless to PC’s. Between requiring a hag and the spells some of which already appear on the witch’s spell list. I propose that Coven hex works more like ‘aid other’ but with spells.
One witch, with Coven Hex, casts a spell which she has memorized and -up to two- other witches (who also have the coven hex) then ‘aid’ this spell. They do so by ‘casting’ a memorized spell from the same school of the same level or higher.
This cooperative casting takes longer to cast by which all casters are, effectively ‘casting’ a spell:
Free action becomes a standard action
Standard action becomes a full round action
Full round becomes Full round + a standard action
Once cast, the caster level of the spell is increased by 2 per ‘aiding’ witch (IE: max 4) and the DC is increased by 1 (IE: max 2). Defined maximums for spells (EX 10d6 for fire ball) are still enforced. Meta-magic feats are applicable if the original spell had a meta-magic feat attached to it.
All spells are then removed from their memorized spells as though they were cast.
I think this is fair as you are tying up two (possibly 3) of your 6 person party that could be doing other things.
I also would like to see a Major Coven Hex that requires the Minor hex that allows spells to be cast through scrying devices such as crystal balls.
In another their thread I suggested consolidating the 'base' familiar, and it's bonus, (IE: Cat +3 Stealth) so that Wizard and Witch pull from this same list. This would entail having new familiars listed for the Witch. Jason has given us a few; Pig, Fox, Goat. I was wondering if there is any thought's to other 'base' familiars and the bonuses they would give.
I'll start:
Spider: Master gets a +3 bonus to Sense Motive checks
EDIT: "My spidey sense is tingling"
I'd like to see the base list for familiars be universal, personally. I'm not talking about the you get 'x' ability at 'Y' level, but the animal and base bonus (like; cat: +3 to stealth checks). This, way you can say something like:
"A Witch may chose any familiar from the Wizard list of familiars and receive its listed bonus, example; (Here). Likewise, a Witch or Wizard may select a familiar from the following list" ...Then include Fox etc.
This opens up a lot more customization while not having to do a separate table (with different bonuses) for each class every time you want to throw in some new familiar options. Which, more familiar options are AWESOME btw, if nothing else but fluff reasons.
I haven’t measured it tit-for-tat Witch vs. Wizard familiar bonuses, mind you, but they seem nearly identical from my memory. Again, talking about animal and base bonus (Ex: Cat +3 Stealth checks).

Josh,
I both played and ran modules at a con this weekend. One of the coordinators, who came back from RUNNING at Gencon, had a lot of rules on how Tiers and Character Levels work in PFS and their relationships to one another. Of course we didn't question him, as, he said these were given to him by you.
These 'rules' caused one of the tables to almost not happen (in which people were turned away) and another to result in a TPK. We were 'forced' to play within these guidelines, if we wanted to play. Needless to say there were a bunch of people who walked away with hard feelings because of it.
This was a smaller convention. I would like some confirmation and clarification, if you could.
1) First off. Tiers and *playable* character levels able to play are IDENTICLE and there are NO ACCEPTIONS.
In other words: A 7th level character may ///NEVER/// play a mod whose Tier is capped at 6. Likewise a 4th level may ///NEVER/// play a mod beginning at Tier 5, until reaching 5th (of course).
2) If you are in the correct level range and the table you play at qualifies for another tier you MUST play that Tier even if you are 3 or more levels out of that 'Tier.'
In other words: if you are a first level character (playing a tier 1-5 module) and the average player level is Tier 4-5, you MUST play Tier 4-5. Even if the ENTIRE table wants to run 1-2.
....................
We ran #32 (Tier 7+) with four players, we ALMOST didn't have that, but we had to turn away several level 6's. And we had to fight to get the last 7th.
...MEANWHILE: we had a table of 6 BRAND NEW (no AR's) character's and asked to do the 1-2 Tier. We were FORCED, by the judge, to run Tier 4 because we had 7th player who was level 3. We were TPKed the second combat!
These seem to be contradictory. Why is a person ONE LEVEL out denied play while an entire table THREE LEVELS out FORCED to play a tier they aren't comfortable with?
....................
He explained tiering math this way:
1) add all character levels and divide by the number of characters.
2) round all fractions up
3) add 1 for a full table of 6
4) add 1 for every player above 6
9 levels divided by 7 is 1.28 rounded to 2
Plus 1 for full table Plus 1 for a 7th character = 6 level ones and a level 3 die!
Thanks ahead of time!

In our local game group an English major wrote a poem about his character. It was suggested he take Profession: Poet. I, myself, was going to suggest Perform: Oratory.
Then I got to thinking. What skill covers -creating- the performance art material?
Thinking about it starving performance artists in music, comedy, poetry, etc create their own material. Well established actors go on to write and direct. However, there is an entire Cyrano de Bergerac industry of songwriters, playwrights, etc who may never perform publicly what they create.
So would the creation of performance material fall under perform or profession?
Thoughts?
They did a lot of adapion on the print modules the last couple years of Living Greyhawk. Is there any talk about adapting Pathfinder print mods to Society?
Bye, Bye 4.0. I sold all seven of the 4.0 books to a used book store and Pre-Ordered PFRPG book with the proceeds! I feel so... liberated. =)
A bunch of us, from our local club, can't make Gen Con this year so we decided to run some Year Zero mods to ring in Pathfinder Societies first year kick off!
Are the Conversion Guidelines and the Year 1 Society Guidelines going to be available that week for non-Gen Con goers?
Thanks!
James
I've heard conflicting info on whether or not year zero characters are going to convert to year 1 or not. Does anyone know if there been an official call on this?
We're only 2 months out of GenCon at this point.
Thanks!
...Any chance you can post the stats on her Familiar?
Thanks!
I'd like to see a map that would be a Flip Map/Combat Pad hybrid.
You could sell individual relatively blank terrain maps that comes with the 'base' magnet pack for a particular type of terrain; rocks, trees, logs etc. for woods (of varying sizes) as well as stairs, walls, doors for the dungeon map etc.
Create other maps and packs for city, water, snow etc. Then create expansion packs with varied terrain features of different sizes and even sell the base pack, itself incase you want more of "X" or you own a different map.
This would be great for replicating specific mod maps or creating your own maps. You wouldn't have to worry about the terrain features being revealed too early, getting smudged off, or sliding around on the map if the table gets bumped!
What do you think?
I'm confident that the year one character creation rules are in the works by this point. I'm wondering how much of the Campaign Setting will be available.
The rules in Campaign Setting was primarily designed to hybrid strait 3.5 characters to more pathfinder-esk equivalents. There is still a lot of crunch in this book that will remain relevant post-core rulebook. I'm referring to the feats and some of the alternate class build options. I'm assuming equipment will go relatively untouched.
Any idea how much, if any, of this will be available aside what makes the corebook?
Thanks.
...Sorry if this has come up before...
I know that all of the gods are worshiped in all the factions but is their a list of which gods are native to which factions?
I know this may seem a bit arbitrary but because of the "vs. faction" set up, zealotry is going to be commonplace. A person seeking identity within a givin faction is going to take a purist platform, so, their going to want to worship the gods native to their faction.
Thanks
