Sorry, but I am regularly running into things where I can't find a straight answer within the text itself.
Quick Tincture from the Investigator Alchemical Sciences Methodology reads:
Quote:
Quick Tincture [one action]
Cost 1 versatile vial
Requirements You know the formula for the alchemical item you’re creating, you are holding or wearing an alchemist’s toolkit, and you have a free hand.
You quickly brew up a short-lived tincture. You create a single alchemical elixir or tool of your level or lower that's in your formula book without having to spend the normal monetary cost in alchemical raw materials or needing to attempt a Crafting check. This item has the infused trait, but it remains potent only until the end of the current turn.
If I want to whip up an Elixir of Life and I know the formula, that's one action (◆) to Quick Tincture an Elixir of Life in a Versatile Vial, and then a second action (◆) to drink it? Right?
I'm a Champion/Kineticist with Reflex Save +5 (Trained) and Perception +6 (Trained). For my level 3 feat, I'm strongly leaning towards Canny Acumen.
Which do I improve by +2 -- Perception, or Reflex? Looking to hear reasons why as well.
I'm aware that +2 Reflex is both
"get hurt by fireball less" AND also "+2 to Reflex DC"
and +2 Perception is both
"see things/threats more often" AND "+2 to initiative" - my character usually uses Perception for initiative.
Thanks!
Under Sanctification in the Champion class details, it reads:
Holy: You gain the holy trait and add that trait to any Strikes you make.
Your Champion's Aura is usually 15', until you can increase it with a feat.
Question: If I'm a Champion and I fire a bow ...
... does my arrow retain the holy trait regardless of distance?
... or does my arrow retain the holy trait only within 15'?
... or does the Sanctification ability not apply to ranged Strikes?
Thank you!

Hello! Did a search but couldn't find much on the internet about either of these Champion feats.
Question regarding Brilliant Flash: Brilliant Flash says,
"When you use Flash of Grandeur, the attacker is also off-guard for 1 round."
Flash of Grandeur says,
"[snip] Until the end of your next turn, the attacker is affected by revealing light."
Q1.) Is the attacker automatically affected by the spell revealing light, with no saving throw allowed?
Q2.) If a saving throw IS allowed, and the attacker successfully saves, does Brilliant Flash still apply?
Question regarding Defensive Advance:
Uh ... is this feat any good? Is it worth taking instead of Brilliant Flash at 1st level? Raising Shield AND Striding AND possibly striking all for 2 actions seems pretty amazing, but I imagine if the rest of your combat is toe-to-toe with some guy, you will only get to use this ability once.
Any advice is greatly appreciated; I've obviously played a paladin/champion before, but not in Pathfinder 2nd Edition.

I ... am still reading through things, but I haven't run across this.
-- Is there a list somewhere of things you absolutely CANNOT do at the table of a PFS game?
-- Is there a list somewhere of things you absolutely CANNOT do IN CHARACTER during a PFS game?
-- Is there any restriction on alignment?
Or ... is a PFS game just a free-for-all where anything goes, and you have to hope that the GM can keep the game from going completely off the rails?
No, this isn't a troll question or even facetious: my only PFS experience was during 1st edition at an organized game that was COMPLETELY derailed by 1 player, and the incompetent GM in charge who did nothing at all to stop it (and even aided it at times).
So I'm asking before I am willing to try PFS 2nd Edition. Thanks for all genuine answers in advance.
A creature benefiting from concealment (created by anything) requires a DC 5 flat check in order to be accurately targeted.
Does this mean my magic missiles have a 25% chance to miss and do nothing at all, if my target has concealment?
I want to be sure I'm understanding these PF2 rules; I still find them very obliquely and confusingly written sometimes.
You can only have one composition spell going at any time, per the rules. Does that mean that Lingering Performance is useless to keep inspire courage going and then cast a composition spell like, Hymn of Healing ?
Am I correct in assuming that I could use Lingering Performance to keep inspire courage going, and then cast a NON-composition spell as much as I like, such as true strike followed by telekinetic projectile ?
Anyone out there with a PF group that'd accept another player?
I've been playing Pathfinder for a few years. Weird trivia: My name appears in three different Paizo books. ;)
Former GM. Looking to be a player once again.
Looking for a player to join a new PF campaign (characters starting at level 2) that will run twice a month, primarily on Saturdays, in the USC area.
The hook? The party members are all part of the same newly-formed band -- or support staff (roadies!) -- traveling in an effort to gain fame and fortune ... and maybe a little adventure. Their first stop is at a familiar festival in Golarion ...
Roleplaying is important in this game; min/maxing and powergaming are not welcome. Party balance is also important, although we still have numerous roles available (arcane caster, damage dealer, primary healer) with a lot of flexibility given as long as you can actually accomplish that role when the time comes. And naturally, as part of a band, hopefully you can actually play something. ;)
If you're interested, drop me a private message and I'll give you my email address so we can talk and hopefully meet in person to discuss things.
If I cast Mirror Image, and then do anything to alter my look significantly -- including don a shield or a whole suit of armor -- do the images look like this now as well? Or do they look how I did when I cast the spell?
The spell says they mimic my actions ... but does this include altering my appearance?
Maybe it's because it's a legal drama, or has nothing to do with sci-fi, fantasy, or NCIS ... but how come I can't find threads on gamer boards about this awesomely written show?
Who else is out there watching this?

If two different archetypes say that you may only select one domain, can you take both archetypes as long as you choose the same domain? Or is it considered illegal since both archetypes modify your domain choices?
Thanks -- new to PFS. Still figuring some stuff out.

My question, simply: can I somehow 'precisely' stop allies from being immolated by splash damage each round?
From PRD, emphasis mine:
Immolation Bomb*: When the alchemist creates a bomb, he can choose to have its substance coat the direct target's body, causing the bomb to deal its damage over time instead of all at once. The bomb's effect lasts for a number of rounds equal to the number of damage dice the bomb would normally deal (for instance, a 5d6 bomb lasts for 5 rounds). When the bomb hits the direct target, the bomb deals 1d6 + the alchemist's Intelligence modifier in damage, and those within the splash zone take damage equal to 1 + the alchemist's Intelligence modifier. It repeats this damage against the direct target of the bomb each round the immolation bomb lasts, dealing the damage at the start of the alchemist's turn. Splash damage is dealt again to any creature that is adjacent to the direct target when it takes damage from the immolation bomb. A creature taking damage from an immolation bomb's direct hit can attempt to extinguish the flames as a full-round action that requires a Reflex save (DC = 10 + 1/2 the alchemist's level + the alchemist's Intelligent modifier). Because of the alchemical nature of this bomb, rolling on the ground does not grant a bonus on the saving throw, and dousing a creature with water does not stop it from burning. These bombs can be used underwater. An alchemist must be at least 3rd level before selecting this discovery.
Precise Bomb: Whenever the alchemist throws a bomb, he can select a number of squares equal to his Intelligence modifier that are not affected by the splash damage from his bombs. If the bomb misses, this discovery has no effect.
Lost a party member to a shadow recently ... the PC in question got dropped after 1 round of attacks by 2 shadows. No one in the party is high enough to have death ward yet, and lesser restoration takes 3 rounds to cast: the transformation into a shadow from strength drain can occur in 1 or 2 rounds (it's random).
How are PCs who can't cast death ward -- and who never can cast it -- supposed to deal with ability damage & drain, and repair it in combat?
Are PCs just supposed to flee every time one person in the party takes damage? That seems like the only solution to me, right now ...

How does one determine which form of DR a witch gets when casting righteous might via the Strength patron? Witches don't channel energy. I know this was addressed for Oracles ...
Quote: From Paizo PRD:
Your height immediately doubles, and your weight increases by a factor of eight. This increase changes your size category to the next larger one. You gain a +4 size bonus to Strength and Constitution and take a –2 penalty to your Dexterity. You gain a +2 enhancement bonus to your natural armor. You gain DR 5/evil (if you normally channel positive energy) or DR 5/good (if you normally channel negative energy). At 15th level, this DR becomes 10/evil or 10/good (the maximum).
The spell says:
"While under the effects of this spell, an item with the broken condition suffers no adverse effects from that condition, and is treated as if it is not broken."
If I misfire my pistol and then cast jury-rig on it, if it is "treated as if it is not broken" and I misfire again, what happens?
a) It explodes.
b) It gains the broken status again, and another Jury-Rig must be cast to repair it
c) Nothing, because it can't be broken while Jury-Rigged.
Thanks!

Come and Get Me -- the barbarian rage power -- states:
"Enemies gain a +4 bonus on attack and damage rolls against the barbarian until the beginning of her next turn, but every attack against the barbarian provokes an attack of opportunity from her, which is resolved prior to resolving each enemy attack."
Spring Attack states:
"As a full-round action, you can move up to your speed and make a single melee attack without provoking any attacks of opportunity from the target of your attack."
So, I attack with spring attack, versus a barbarian that has activated Come and Get Me on her last turn.
I'm immune to provoking AoOs from the barbarian ...
... except if I hit the barbarian, she gets a free AoO ...
.. except that I'm immune to AoOs from the barbarian ...
And on and on and on.
What's the answer? Which one wins out, the feat or the rage power?
I'm slightly confused on how this archetype 'modifies' the cavalier challenge ability.
Challenge: "The cavalier’s melee attacks deal extra damage whenever the attacks are made against the target of his challenge. This extra damage is equal to the cavalier’s level."
Later: "Challenging a foe requires much of the cavalier’s concentration. The cavalier takes a –2 penalty to his Armor Class, except against attacks made by the target of his challenge."
Honor Guard's Sworn Defense ability states: "At 1st level, whenever an honor guard issues a challenge, he can select one ally as his ward for the duration of the challenge. Whenever the honor guard is adjacent to his ward, he takes a –1 penalty to Armor Class, and the ward receives a +1 dodge bonus to AC. "
It seems like you still take the -2 penalty to AC when you issue a challenge, except when adjacent to your ward, in which case it drops to a -1 penalty to AC.
But do you still deal the extra melee damage equal to your cavalier level?
Hey, all. I could use a little advice.
I have seen people regularly say that you shouldn't give up caster levels by dipping into other classes whenever possible. But is it the actual caster level that is the worst thing to lose, or is it the spell slots & known spells gained?
I'm contemplating a dip into Fighter for my Metal Oracle to get Spring Attack by 5th level. I am tempted to take another level later for the +1 BAB, d10, and the extra feat ... and I could take the trait that adds +2 to my caster level, Magical Knack.
I'd still be down slots ... and it'd take longer for me to earn higher level spells ... but I'd like to know what it is that is really the worst thing, for casting characters, to lose.
Thanks!
2-year-old D&D group (3.5) is switching to Pathfinder in July and looking to add new players as we begin a new campaign at level 1. We will be using Golarion, with rotating GMs. Character attributes are rolled: 4d6, drop the lowest, six times, with a minimum total modifier of +5 (no max). Rolling has to be done in sight of someone in the group. ;)
We delve into a variety of stories, so combat is a definite part of things, but not the only thing. Roleplaying is rewarded; not every problem need be solved by killing things.
We game twice a month near Eaton Canyon in the Altadena area, just north of Pasadena, primarily on Saturdays, but on Sundays if it is the only day everyone in the group can make it, from 1 pm to 9:30 or 10 pm, with a dinner break in between.
If you're interested in joining, please email me at pixLA @ ymail dot com ...

I have a couple of questions about the Ancestral Weapon revelation from the Ancestors Oracle mystery.
The revelation allows you to summon a simple or martial weapon, which you are proficient with. Can I choose a different weapon each time, so long as it is "from your family's history"?
Also, if I choose to summon a composite longbow, is the strength rating forever +0, as the "default" longbow? Or can I ask for my ancestors to provide one appropriate to my strength at the time?
--DP
Can anyone point me to the direction of wording in one of the PF books that would let me know how the supernatural Oracle revelation Coat of Many Stars, and the armor bonus it provides, holds up against incorporeal attacks?
Since it's an armor bonus and doesn't state it is a force effect, does this mean all touch attacks and incorporeal attacks ignore it? Or is the fact that it's supernatural what matters?
Thanks!

Nice job with your dill-inspired idea, Purple Dragon Knight. ;) Definitely a major improvement to the class, along with everything else that got tweaked by the design team. Good job, you guys.
The Core Rulebook does not list starting wealth for the NPC classes, including Aristocrat. Does anyone know how much gold a level 1 Aristocrat would begin with?
Just how many books, and which ones, does a group switching to Pathfinder need to acquire in order to have essential information about the setting in which the Adventure Paths take place? We are talking about converting sometime in the next few months.
If the answer to this is dependent entirely upon which Adventure Path, if any, we choose ... then can you instead pinpoint a list of titles we are very likely to need?
Thanks in advance, and links to threads where this has already been discussed are appreciated.

I know this is a bit of a worst-case scenario, but it's entirely within the realm of the possible for a BBEG to pull this off easily.
If my summoner is traveling with his eidolon beside him, and dismissal is cast upon it just before the BBEG attacks, I'll now have to rely upon my SLA summon monsters to help me fight, since it'll take a full minute to bring the eidolon back (aside from summon eidolon).
Monsters brought into being via the spell-like ability, or the casting of the spell, cannot do ANY damage to an enemy warded by protection from evil. Neither can an eidolon brought back via summon eidolon. And the summoner class is mostly devoid of attack spells to hurl at the BBEG.
So, to sum up:
Can any bad guy basically shut down the entire Summoner class by judicious use of just two spells -- dismissal and protection from evil?
If so, how do you stay alive, and actually useful to the party?
Thanks in advance ... hoping I'm missing something, or misinterpreting something ...

Our group just celebrated its 2nd anniversary this month, and we're now looking to change things up and try something new. We've collectively agreed to give the Pathfinder system a try, and I wanted to give people without a PF group in the LA or SGV area a chance to join a great group that's about to start all over again at level 1.
We do not have a set date for the transition, but I suspect it will take place around May, perhaps a little later.
Some other things are up in the air: we are not certain if we will have simply 1 GM, or the role will be taken on by several people; we do not know yet if we will be using the established Pathfinder world, or a home-created world using the Pathfinder pantheon & books; and no one has yet created characters.
Some things are solid: we meet twice a month in Altadena, California, just above Pasadena, and usually on Saturdays from 1 pm and 9 pm. We do our best to schedule games so that most, if not all, players can attend. We have no plans to use non-Pathfinder system books.
Contact me at pixLA at ymail dot com if you're interested, or have further questions. I'll also be happy to answer questions here.
Thank you for your time!

I'm CERTAIN someone has already noticed this and/or brought it up, so I ask: is there a thread where basic things like typos and/or unclear language is noted so the designers can easily fix this?
Secret Stash Deed (Grit)
You are so skilled at stashing small packets of firearm
ammunition and black powder on your body that you
sometimes surprise yourself when you find them.
Prerequisites: Grit class feature or Amateur Gunslinger
feat, Slight of Hand 1 rank.
Other threads already discuss the potential problems with this Deed, I'm just bringing up the fact that it's Sleight of Hand ...
I think I've posted ... once prior to today. :) Not for any lack of love of Paizo -- my GM and I are currently in the process of coaxing our group to switch to Pathfinder -- but I just have been busy mostly posting elsewhere.
I think this is an amazing contest with a great prize. I'm in awe of the Top 32 items and their creators. I doubt I would ever create something quite as innovative and flavorful. As a paladin, I need to do my very best at something ... so I'll excel at voting!
My question: anyone else out there joining in on the discussion as a result of this cool contest idea?
