![]() Percivel spins, looking toward the one that gave the order to attack, while stepping 5 feet to the west. "You can stop this while your men yet live. There is no need for more of them to die this day. Shelyn frowns upon this violence; there is no beauty in a corpse that can create no art. Back down and leave here. We will not pursue you." ![]() Percivel starts to follow, then turns toward the half-elf. "I would like a word in private, please." Leading him apart from the others, he stares steadily at the man. "I think you know more than you wish others to know about the missing actress. I believe it is best for everyone if you tell me everything you know." ![]()
![]() Percivel nods to the gnome with a slight smile. The poor girl was obviously not gifted in acting, though with training, who knew? Even a lump of stone can become a work of art with time and patience. Percivel watches the other actors as Uriel begins his questioning, watching how they react to the man's questions, particularly looking for anyone who is trying hard not to react. ![]() Percivel nods at the guard's assumption of his name, listening carefully to the conversations around him. When Lantana mentions not splitting the group, he nods. "Wise words, Lantana. That poem is an old one, penned by Severino de Vitis quite a few years ago. Let us begin with the most recent kidnapping and work our way backwards." ![]()
![]() Percivel re-reads the letter twice. He takes the gold and finds an acolyte to pass it along to. Then he heads back to his workshop where he sits, surrounded by violins, lutes and cellos in various states of assembly. He stares vacantly at the strings as he ponders this new development, then nods to himself. Yes, Shelyn would wish him to investigate this poor woman's disappearance. It served the cause of art and beauty and besides, it was the right thing to do. He sighed, gathered his things and bolted on his breastplate, emblazoned with the sign of the Rose. He retrieves his glaive, taking it from its place beside the door, and began the walk toward the address, noting it is not in the best part of town. When he arrives to find the house condemned and repossessed, he pauses to check the letter. Finding it the proper address, he looks about, then enters. Seeing the other man there, he nods politely. "Are you here about the missing actress as well?" ![]()
![]() @Raikdar: You're the only one I'm having difficulties connecting to Percy. I guess if you know the nobility in town I may use you as a contact to learn more about a noble before approaching them. I'm guessing Percy does middleman duty for certain artists and may want to get an unbiased opinion on the wealth and character of the nobles before he enters into negotiations with them. Does that sound like it works? A money for info sort of arrangement? ![]()
![]() @Lantana: Works for me. He's not the best violin player, but he's a darn fine maker of instruments and huge supporter of the church. I could see us hanging out, given that I have a workshop in the rear of the temple where you could hide out and feel comfortable when the world gets too much. Also, I'd definitely have taken jobs where someone larger and intimidating would have been useful, even if combat wasn't involved and you seem like a perfect intimidation partner. @Uriel: Given that a lot of artists are poor, at least starting out, I would be in Old Korvosa from time to time. How about you helped me to find a missing artist who had gotten hooked on Shiver and was being kept by a local crimeboss as a pet artist? That could be how Lantana, you and I met: she was providing muscle when we went into a dangerous place and you were nearby when a scuffle broke out. It wasn't your usual protectee, but it did contribute to the general peace of the neighborhood. @Rhiannon: Since you're a bard, would you be comfortable having met Percy at a local music/arts festival? Percy would have made it a point to seek out local artists and offer the church's services to them. Plus he might have had a booth selling his instruments. @Hania: Percy has had reason in the past to hire specialists to retrieve artwork that was stolen or not paid for in full by the wealthy and nobles; would you be comfortable being my prime contact for retrieval services? I doubt I would know you were a kitsune, but just that you're skilled and do good work. Legality is less of a concern for me. ![]()
![]() Lantana, I definitely think we would be connected. Given that Percivel is a fixture of the church, you may have grown up together. And/or collaborated on missions where a degree of muscle was needed. DM, I'd like permission to change one thing: I'd like to change from the Fervor inquisition to the Recovery inquisition. It seems like it would fit his missions much better to be better at finding lost things, like art or artists. 2nd level HP roll: 1d8 ⇒ 8 |
