Yeah I do - I actually do them at the game table when face to face.

I keep a note of the mission specs, everyone's character name, and weave the storyline so far into Limerrick. It's great because its a nice add-in element when we need to make all these perform and social checks in-game.

It's limmericks when not in combat, but goblin song when in combat.

The hard part is coming up with the longer goblin songs though, as they require a bit more thought when everyone is all excited at the table and yelling over each other and the GM, so they might be here and there, not every round.

I do the same with all my performing Goblins.

Religion (Bardic Lore) 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

Pennypockets frowns “This wasn’t just a killing, it was a ritual. Someone re-enacted Fumeiyoshi’s betrayal of Tsukiyo to corrupt the shrine. It used to honour Tsukiyo, protector of outcasts… now they’re trying to twist it into a shrine for vengeance.”

He seems very non-plussed, “We can’t let them succeed.”

Performance 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27

Penny seems calm, solemn as he approaches the bodies. He speaks softly, mournfully this time, his usual spirited rhymes and poety now more measured and with a tinge of sorrow.

"Two birds still young of the wing,
Two souls who should still sing.
Untimely cut down,
These sons of the town
What a tragic and heartbreaking thing."

“Let’s see this sorrow answered.”

With a maniacal Goblin laugh, the violent little Gremlin keeps up the assualt on the obvious master-chef pan-wielding halfling.

Penny keeps the song going, then flicks his wrist and some loose objects fly at the halfling pan-wielder.

Penny ducks into the room to see what is going on.

"Goblins hurt and Goblins stab,
stick some arrows in halfling flab!
Pull your wings off, slice your tail
Laugh with glee when we make you wail.
Goblins laugh and we be crude
We be Goblins…
YOU BE FOOD!"

His voice cracks like a whip at the end, spitting the final word with gleeful fire.

Then a second crack as the strong on his crossbow is released, sending a bolt flying at one of the halflings.

Pathfinder Society Lore 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 1 = 19

Pennypockets steps forward, holding the glowing cherry blossom sprig aloft.

“This sprig, the squirrel-rabbits, the letters delivered, and even the news of a newborn child are not signs of abandonment,”[b] he says [b]“They’re signs that Sakura still watches, still cares. They may not be able to see you clearly through the fog, but they have not turned their back. Something clouds their vision—something worrying enough that they've called upon others to help.”

He bows low “By divine guidance, the Pathfinder Society has been sent to aid you as champions and helpers, not by coincidence, but by calling. You are not alone. We’re here to see the fog lifted and the bond with Sakura renewed.”

Pennypockets then breaks into rhyme with his usual goblin flair

"Sakura has not gone away,
The good grace is here to stay.
But something haunts here,
We’ll throw it out on its ear,
And the sun will once more brighten day!"

He gives a theatrical bow, then gestures grandly to the party behind him. “So fear not, good villagers, as help has come, and we bring hope, steel, and possibly snacks.”

Penny winces as the dwarven warrior is savaged by the angry beast - "I won’t let you die!” the goblin exclaims, leaping into action as he begins to cast his soothing melody.

"Lande, you’re bleeding and covered in red,
Don’t be dying, don’t be dead.
Goblin’s song will make you fix—
A busted dwarf makes my feelings mixed!
You’ll not die or go deep blue,
Here’s a healing tune for you!"

With a flourish, the healing magic takes hold.

Soothe 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Then, without missing a beat, Penny snaps up his buckler and raises his shield, bracing in case his actions have angered the beast further.

Identify creature 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12

As the strange creatures strike, Penny squints into the fog, drawing on half-remembered bardic tales and bug-riddled folklore in hopes of identifying them. Somewhere in his goblin brain, a scrap of useful legend stirs. At the same time, a wild spark ignites. Penny becomes something feral and old—a goblin of yesteryear, all fang and fury. Chaos gleams in his eyes, infectious and unhinged, as a wicked song bursts from his lips.

"Goblins gnash, goblins wail,
Eat your face and pull your tail!
Goblins torch and goblins burn,
Cook your bits up in an urn!
Goblins turn you into roast—
We be Goblins…
YOU BE TOAST!"

His voice cracks like a whip at the end, spitting the final word with gleeful fire.

He scrabbles wide of the party so he can get a clear line of sight on the creatures.

Intimidate 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24

The goblin seems oddly excited by the swarm of bugs—instead of running away, he charges straight at them, eyes aglow with a gleeful hint of malice.

He grins wide and chants:

"Goblins love eating bugs,
They taste like delicious hugs.
We bite off your wings,
And chew on your stings—
Then dance as we slurp out the guts!"

Whilst not his best rhyme, there’s a dark viciousness in his tone that makes it clear - these bugs are far more likely to end up as dinner than danger.

Diplomacy 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

Penny considers the dead for a moment, then softens his expression into one of deep understanding and support. When he speaks, his voice is low and consoling, each word carrying a soothing tone.

"It's time for you to have rest,
The fog—you gave it your best.
We will make it to town
And put the cause down.
To Pharasma go, and be blessed."

Nature 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

Pennypockets looks about here and there, stopping to sniff the mysterious fog, run his fingers through the grasses, examine the flora, and pick his way along by checking the mosses on the trees to determine his heading—all while considering the mission at hand and the wishes of the (potentially!) friendly kami.

He coins another limerick:

"I'll examine and poke local flora,
The trouble with being an explorer.
I'm no great expert,
We might all get hurt,
And our health may end up the poorer!"

Despite his warning, he does seem to make a good job of it.

"I shall draw a healing potion from the Pathfinder Provisions, thank you" the bard replies.

Turning to the party he says "The most common threats found in the Forest of Spirits are bandits, oni, fey, and wild animals. If the balance of the forest has been upset, even kami and nature spirits can become aggressive and attack. There have been recent rumors of rare plants and animals smuggled from the Forest of Spirits being sold at markets in Minkai and Hongol by agents of the Golden League"

"Could be smugglers or poachers stirring up trouble—and if that's the case, we needn’t worry about knowing Tien. Violence is a universal language."
