Osk meets the knowing look only to grunt a moment later as he gestures, again, to the stables, Its the Stolen Lands. Wild and unbidden. We handle our horses ourselves...

Osk nods his mouth partly full, Yea and then rises slowly, setting down a half eaten biscuit and leaning past the table to check the sky. Frowning a moment he moves around the table and walks out into the courtyard proper, shielding his eyes from the sun and looking on Ra'hl as he talks, Rogarvia, right? Was told before I headed out that you might be making your way...

The warrior makes no attempt to hide his attempt to look over the newcomers as he waves at the stables with an off hand.

Osk cocks an eyebrow at the red haired woman then tilts his head a bit as he offers an even tone, Well far away they may be but under their ah "offer" are we all. The new request says kill the bandit king, this Stag Lord. On the paper? More money? Words unspoken? Seems the politics are too much back home and they may give those who make this area "safe" a chance to call it their own...

Osk looks back to the orc and offers a brief statement.

Orcish:
Kill the bandit chief, get money. Whispers say we may get land as our own. Not yet a 'promise' on paper like the rest.

Osk guffaws at the orc and nods vigorously responding in common, Very true.

Osk rises and looks over his gear doing his best to avoid conversation until the dull haze of sleep has passed. He feels older than he used to and the day takes just a little more work to get up and ready to go then he did in his youth. This task was different, and the warrior felt the volume of the task very keenly in his awkward sense that he was intruding on something well under way and carrying instructions that only complicated matters.

Sighing to himself the fighter sets off to find the other charter holders and see if he can strike up a conversation that hopefully won't end in an argument.

Seeing the wizard and Orc Who named himself Cuddles? Osk approaches the pair and offers a slight grunt of greeting before talking, I was hoping we could sit down and talk about the charter and the new request from Brevoy. Clearly I am a new comer but I thought we might discuss a plan of action?

Pausing for a only a second Osk turns to Cuddles and offers a few words in Orcish.

Orcish:
Big table talk. Discuss the words sent by lazy men in big city. See which direction to wander to next.

Look me over, is there anythings weird or missing?

I'll be back in a few hours to try to scrape in at the last minute...

Osk looks over at Lucky and Mael in response to Seishan's introduction, What have you brought back with you? It seems to me Seishan's public arts might be of value to the inn and...other pursuits but I am curious to know what you have discovered. Osk leans in to Seishan, We were contracted for some local work, depending on what they have found this might be a good chance to see if you fit with our group.

Maeltheron. Cedany. Lucky. The oread points at each as they approach then gestures to the ifrit. This is Seishan. She has come to...well I think she has come to join our motely crew.

Osk stands to grab chairs and motions to the lot to sit. Let us swap stories a bit. I think we all might be able to serve each other...

Osk nods at Seishan's story his attention focused on what is clearly an intense tale. He seems to contemplate the details as Seishan looks to switch the topic.

I might have met your Rurik... he has the sound of a man I met years ago. Regardless it a hard way to pass and all too common a fate for those who feel pulled by that adventure you mentioned.

The oread pauses a moment then knocks a knuckle on the table, How did I come here...Well the owner's father was known to me and I worked for him some before falling in with his daughter on some of that "adventure" we were just discussing. As is natural you pick up others with similar goals and you... Osk makes a gesture like something flying off into the horizon.

Years later here we are. Adventures had, friends lost and a family of sorts comes together. If you had told me years ago that those closest to me would by my employer's daughter, a halfling who could talk a forest into buying wood and an elf could kill a man faster than you could say his name I would never have thought it... Osk offers a shrug and leans back in his chair.

But here we are. We made money and opportunity came from the cycle of life. Cedany's father passed and we looked real hard at what we had earned and thought that maybe Absalom was a better place to make a fortune or do something rather than a desert, cave or some creatures stomach. So here we are. Each adding our "skills". We aren't the saintliest group but we have an honor for each other that I think makes up for it...

Osk raises his stony brow and gestures across the way...

Osk nods at the woman and seems to appreciate the detail, The name Rurik seems familiar to me...was he an adventurer or explorer?

Osk leads Seishan into the main bar gesturing at a table and motioning for someone to come take your order as he invites you to sit.

Osk looks the newcomer over slowly and scratches at his chin, While on the one hand I don't know we would ever turn away money you have to understand that we are a close group. Like a family even. While it is true that many of us help run the inn, it really belongs to Cedany. Who is out.

The brawler pauses for a moment to think, How did you come to know about us? We are not a quiet presence in the city, we know that already. But surely there are better places to invest your money. Bank houses. Establish business. Trade caravans. What brought you here to the Gallery?

I have the alias, might as well use it...

Osk stands for a moment looking the newcomer up and down. The oread might cock an "eyebrow" but offers only a simple, gravely, Can I help you?

Osk frowns slightly and turns to Cedany, I want to make sure things are solid at the Gallery. I know the captain, he is a good man but if things are as complicated as he claims he may not be the only one who knows what we are doing... The oread nods at Tirkala and makes his way back to the inn.

I might bring him back for the more role-play oriented inn stuff but for the in between set pieces like this I don't like running him in parallel. I just had a situation where he might be the person to notice something and that felt strange to post side by side with my DM post, so I think I will move him to the background for now.

Osk nods in agreement that things are better done on the move, We will be in touch, captain. and the oread rises to move past the elf.

Osk simply nods, content that the others are fine with the requested action.

Osk offers a hand wave as if to say "no thanks" and sits down.

Osk frets over the facility mostly wanting to make sure that the prolonged presence of the watch didn't disturb the staff or patrons. His emphasis being that there was a "misunderstanding".

So pretty sure I need paizo to move it to me and ill reach out to them tomorrow, in the interest of moving thing s along forward me your contacts so I can see what ive got there, and ill post something tomorrow... Eragar you can pm me any additional.notes but I get you are busy so I will take the bull and run.

I like him, I wouldn't want to see him fade away. Osk and Martin kinda form a pair of big brothers for the others. Osk is the nice loving one and martin is the grumpy one. Mael you seem more like the middle brother, looking out for everyone.

If its too much I can the game up, I dun want things to end.

Well ill take it for now and if things get to be too much ill pass the baton.

I can do it though i will note that this is my 3rd game so if i feel the pinch this will need to be the first one to go but ill be communicative about my time and abilities,

Not sure how eragar goes about transferring the threads to me.

For those left, should i continue to play osk too or have hime fade to the background. I feel capable of doing good by it, im not big on DM wish fufillment but i want you guys to choose.

I also could take it over. I like running and I have some decent notions so I think it won't die but we can see how eragar feels then discuss from there.

I am fine either way. I rocked it old school for a long time, "theater of the the mind style" and I tend to run my combats that way if I can help it because it can be painful to upload a map but, like Mael points out they can be helpful.

My personal recommendation is to let the game proceed, if combat happens to start we can work with the description and in the mean time, if you figure out a way to upload then that will work. But given the rate of posting and timing, we may very well be able to even run the first few rounds of combat (days in real time) before we would need a map to clarify.

Just my 2 cp.

Its true, they well and truly may need us for our superior diplomacy and sense of aesthetics. None the less I'm sure we all have a valuable role to play ;p

Laen nods at Osk's words. There isn't much I can do about keeping this quiet: people talk. He shrugs But I will do what I can.

His voice lowers, and he leans in closer to Osk. Actually, there's a raid happening tonight we could use your help with. Think your group could meet my team tonight and give us a hand?

Osk nods at the Captain's words. At the request for assistance Osk breaks out an honest smile. I know for sure that Mael and Martin need some exercise given the morning and Tirkala is game I'm sure. I'll check with Lucky and Cedany and verify with the rest but I suspect you will have our full group at your disposal. Anything to help the Watch.

With that the oread will clap the ifrit on the shoulder and verify when/where to meet then make his way to gather the others to put Laen's request up before the group.

Hey guys want to bust some heads for the guard?

1. Sorry I fought the forum fairies this weekend and lost. Got a bit disgruntled so took yesterday off.

2. Go for it Martin! I trust you...besides its not look we can't rearrange as needed if something doesn't seem to gel right.

A little before lunchtime, Osk finds a familiar face among the guards. When their eyes meet, Laen Ineem begins making his way towards the oread.

Osk he nods in greeting, I came when I heard what was going on. I trust you haven't been treated too roughly?

Osk will reach out and shake the ifrit's hand, a relatively rare sign of respect from the brawler. Nodding the oread offers a half frown, Well enough though I admit this escalated more than I had hoped. Our man Martin is from a noble breed that takes its challenges seriously and I suspect our local tax collector is not used to that level of resistance. The double edged sword of having adventurer's as local business owners I suppose.

Osk furrows his brow as he makes a gesture for the ifrit to have anything from the menu he desires. And knowing Laen as well as he does it should be clear this is purely a friendly gesture, in no way an undue influence though Osk certainly would understand why or why not the captain would accept. I want to be sure that Kealdwar answers if something is amiss, that said I would rather keep this quiet. The last thing the Gallery needs is the negative press of implied assault charges or anything of the like. I'm sure we would have the right of it before the law but such business can be ugly and public. I would rather find a solution where everyone can walk away educated and better for it...

The paizo dicebot can be brutal. I had.six month window kn my Legacy of Fire game where I didnt roll above 4. I joked at the time that maybe it was mad I hadn't bought enough product lately...

Ohh Osk, you just made me laugh so very hard there. That is great, thanks I needed that :D

Well one of my traits is that my intimidation is wit (int) based...I thought it fit.

Osk wordlessly puts the documents in questions on the bar and pats the halfling on the back as he takes to the drink.

Osk rises steadily but slowly. Be that as it may Martin, warrior's enter of their own accord. It may be he refuses but I would never wish to see a man bullied to test mettle he does not feel the need to prove or is inadequate to provide.

Osk looks to the tax collector, still intense in his calmness. I pray you sit sir, and we see what leadership from the guards come. Clearly you feel that some injustice is being done just as we do. Tempers have flared on all sides and now honest men and women must all account for the trouble. The brawler gestures to everyone in the room including the agitated guardsman.

I think it best we each sit, sip our drinks and think on our roles in this situation so that we may each reach the satisfaction we desire when we are asked by those that are coming. Osk resumes his seat and sits to sip at his own mug.

As an afterthought the oread reaches over the bar and grabs the first bottle and glass he can find and pours a shot and gestures to Harrison, Lucky. The brawler points to the glass and the stool next to him.

WOW guys....go to bed and then have a busy morning at work and look at THIS...heh.

For me Osk would be leaning more with Harrison than Martin/Mael/Tirk. The guys is an ass but a political creature with power is worth more than a foe. Besides, Osk cares about keeping everybody safe so though he understands and even may condone violence in many circumstances he would probably have played this a little less intensely.

It should be noted that we could duel in town...in the Irorium... but given that that is basically The Colosseum....I'm not exactly surprised he would say no. I suppose there are smaller venues but if Martin has the pins I imagine that is where he calling him out to. LOL

Funny that the brawler is the other political creature of the group. But that is why I gave him some brains :p

I also think it is hilarious that we already are like a "family" at a holiday dinner. Crazy uncle Martin just slapped the local asshat and now half the family is shaking its head and the other half is chuckling behind their hands.

That would be interesting. Osk wants to strangle him because now he is trying to extort even MORE...don't know if anyone other than me caught that.

Actually given the description of Andor and Absalom's lega goings ons I think most of your terms are fairly accurate. Intentional or note many of the references made in Golarion mirror western (and American in particular) legalese...that may just be writers using what they know. *shrug* In an y case I don't think you are off the mark.

Osk (having probably sit himself opposite of the bar across from Martin) {So they could meet in the "middle" if need be heh} simply watches the halfling passively. Not the guards or the others, just the halfling. No intensity or malice. Just....watching...

Five. sir.

The oread doesn not expound on the statement or clarify. But he is clearly talking to Kealdwar.

I had been thinking of the same thing. One of my shorter term goals is to purchase a rank/fame that allows me to serve as a law enforcement individual in limited circumstances...like running out bar. Heh.

That said its why I chose the contacts I did, so that if I did kick someone out I would have the right kind of people to help smooth the issue over (I hope)

Years of adventuring and then "keeper of the peace" responsibilities sees Osk normally sleeping in his armor as it was designed with one such as him in mind and rarely caused an issue. To Cedany's urgent awakening the oread simply rises and urges the innkeeper to return to the halfling.

I will get Mael and Harrison. It may be we don't want their presence known right away and I would not have you incur any more anger for your delay in treating with the man...

Assuming she agrees Osk will simply thump on his floor a few times and then move on to Mael's room. I actually assume as I am a hybrid monk/fighter I don't move around that loudly unless I really "want" to per se...

When the elf answers the brawler keeps his voice low, The halfling is back. I wonder if you want to make your way downstairs but stay out of sight. I don't expect violence but I know if you have a bit of time to look the situation over unseen... Osk offers a shrug to finish his statement. He being aware that Mael seems to have a better time if he "studies" his opponents, feels like the best way to articulate a rules concept in game...

Once these things are done he will make his way downstairs.

Edit: N/M I missed the post where Osk is awakened.

Osk walks heavy. On purpose ;p

Not to Mael, that's for sure.

Surely a defensible standard in *any* city.

Well ya honer, I am but a simple country lawyah but I declah that Mael didn't *think* it was illegal so surely that means he didn't *actually breahk the laawh?

Heh.

Osk does't sleep. He is a vigilant presence always, tirelessly watching....no no that's Batman. Osk sleeps like a damn rock. Never moves. Might be dead. Never really sure. Loud sounds? Pyrotechnics? ZZZZzzzzz

Seeing that something Mael has said made Lucky happy Osk would only shake is head at the sort of trouble that might lead to. Tirkala continues on with the guard and Cedany s off in the kitchen surely updating Martin on the days proceedings. The brawler thinks on it for a minute and rises stopping off at Atona the oread nods at the woman and whispers so only she would hear, There will always be customers and officials who will be mean spirited. Business I am afraid. But you are safe. Always hold that to your heart. Osk offers an involuntary grinding of his stony knuckles to emphasis the comment. Not really waiting for a response he approaches Maeltheron and Harrison,

It is probably time to check the tables and deposits and think about winding down the...

Basically insert casino security business *here*, don't see the need to role play it per se. Are we open all night? Does the district or our own interests have us shut down for a part of the night?

Osk watches Tirkala, Osk watches Cedany and Harrison. Osk watches everybody and drinks, settling in to his "statue" routine as the night moves along.

Osk points Harrison in the right direction.

As the halfling shares his good news, the brawler nods slowly and affords the bard half a smile, Who knew throwing you in a room with paper-pushers would lead to such positive results. Is this the end of the great social career of the "Lucky Halfling? On to the great stacks of the district council chambers?

Osk leads the pair around the complex for an evening check-in with various staff persons, the oread does linger at "the manual" for a moment asking for a strong drink the evokes dwarven spirits and something -tart-.

Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16

Osk follows the group up, then follows the 1.5 elves out, offering Lucky a "yeah yeah" hand wave as the halfling offers his concerned look.

Stepping down with Maeltheron and Tirkala Osk lazily scratches beneath his armor, It seems to me its more effort than its worth for now. Bureaucrats tend to respond to bureaucrats better than anything. If we can win at his own game in his own arena our victory would be complete. Digging into his vices and blackmailing him would only serve to have him use the system against us wouldn't it?

You paid 333 of 1000 for the book which leaves 667 to put towards the room of your initial investment. That covers everything but upgrading and adding locks.

I have a project in mind to breakdown what was originally built, take the adjustments that were discussed and see if there is any left over

Osk shifts as everyone scatters but can't quite contain shaking his head at the elf as he leaves. As Cedany moves to check in with the office Osk gently taps her, I believe have someone I can as at the Ivy council if your papers seem right.

With Maeltheron leaving the inn Osk decides it is time to check in with the other staff to see if anything else of note is going on.

Eragar, I forgot about this but I got info on one contact but not my other..

I got my trustworthy watch captain but not my ivy district council contact (should be "reliable").
