After Gravel's briefing Okaris made his preparations to for the journey to the monastery.

Okkaris awoke in foul mood the next morning, having spent most of the night being serenaded by the riotous snoring of the men's tent.

He sourly nodded at the command to remove all threats and thought, Easier said then done. Okaris cracked his first smile of the day when Arian asked about the monastery, "Good questions."

Happy Thanksgiving to those in the USA. Everyone else Happy Thursday!

Have fun!

Okaris watched the woman depart. With an exaggerated sigh he turns and makes his way to Gravel's tent.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

"Give her time, freedom can take some time getting used to," Okaris counseled.

He stifles a yawn and agrees, "Yes, it is time to get some sleep."

Okaris smiled as he listened to Lark set Faffnyr free and remarked, "As it was intended for all people."

Okaris makes a deep now at Almah's generosity, "Thank you a ten thousand times."

Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 6

Okaris crosses his arms, "This is our price Almah we will not be moved."

Okaris listens to the conversation and watches Almah closely trying to tell if she is concealing anything.

Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 16

Okaris nodded his head in agreement at Isadriewewn's remarks, "Answers first, would be nice."

"Why not leave it," Okaris suggests.

Okaris nods his head as he replies to Dashki, "Looks like it." He stands guard while his companions coax the goat back to camp.

Okaris looks abashed at forgetting to bring rope, A bit of rope always comes in handy. Aloud he admits, "No, I didn't think to bring any."

Okaris moved up a with the grace of a dancer. He hesitated for a second and swung his scimitar at the creatures head.

Scimitar: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Scimitar, cit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 doubtful
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Damage, crit: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

The biggest difference is calling out who may act at the end of the post and players not having to wait for other players to post. It's your game so you should go with what you prefer. That being said I prefer the method shown in the example I posted.

Here is an example of how it works in another game I am in.

Example

There are different ways, average party or highest party member. Some use a hybrid and roll imitative for everyone and run it like this:

Initative Rolls:

player 1 (init. 20)
player 2 (init 18)
Bad guys (Init 16)
Player 3 (Init 10)
Player 4 (Init 8)
Player 5 (Init 3)

Round 1:
Player 1 & 2 May act.
When they have posted the GM posts the bad guys actions.
After this everyone can post including player 1 and 2.
Then the bad guys post.
then all the players.

really anything that does not require players to wait on another player to post really helps speed things up and keep things going. Now this also requires a little flexibility because some actions may be negated by another persons action. For example two players may attack the bad guy and the first one killed it as GM you would have to determine who the second player attacked or how he used his actions.

I think your Initiative is a little confusing and can bog the game down.

The way I've seen Initiative done successfully is like this: The GM rolls initiative for both sides (PCs & Bad guys) one side wins initiative. Whichever side wins initiative post first. For example if the players win initiative all the players act then the bad guys act. The players don't have to wait for another player to post they just post their action when they are able. This speeds things up and if the party is in combat and a player hasn't posted in 24 hours the GM decides their actions.

Bump

I will be on the road Tuesday – Thursday please feel free to bot me as necessary. I do not foresee having any problems posting. However, tomorrow is going to be an 18 hour day and I might just hit the sack when I get to my hotel.

Okaris looks at the pugwampi with death in his eyes.

Initative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Okaris pushes through the dense cactus with the others, "Where is this creature you saw." He asks Isadriewen.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

When the mostly naked hal-elf fires her crossbow Okaris asks, "What... where..?" He casts dancing lights and moves them in the direction Isadriewen is shooting.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Perhaps I should just lay here, OKaris considers for a second. He pulls out a couple of pricks and continues onward.

Mission Accomplished. Much hate for Pugwampis

Okaris follows the others but he has a bad feeling about it.

1d20-5: 1d20 - 5 ⇒ (13) - 5 = 8
1d20-5: 1d20 - 5 ⇒ (7) - 5 = 2

Okaris tries to untangle himself from the embrace of the cacti. He removes some spines from his sensitive areas and trudges forward with the rest of the troop.

Recognizing a good idea when he hears it Okaris nods his head in agreement, "Yes, lets back out. If the goat was stupid enough to get caught in the patch it deserves its fate." He will try to back out of the patch.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

---------------------
Rolled in case I need too. -5 calculated in

Okaris continues his painful journey through the melon cactus field.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Happy to find a soft and welcoming place to land Okaris momentarily forgets about the pain in his leg. Remind me to stay near Isadriewen whenever we are on uneven ground, he consoles himself. After a moment he tries to continue his journey.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22

Okaris trys to carefully pick his way through the tangled mess.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11 I Think that is a 6

Fine by me but I reserve the right to complain about it :)

Okaris hears a crying noise in the distance. After listening fo ra moment he concludes, "I recognize that sound it's a goat."

Know. Nature: 1d20 ⇒ 16

Survival: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Okaris shakes his head at the scratchings on the ground thinking, We're chasing chickens. Great. Aloud he utters "Can you track these supposed creatures Arian?"

Okaris gathers his things making sure he packs enought water for the journey. Before they leave he asks Dashki, "Do these Pugwampies have any weaknesses or special powers we should be aware of?" It always pays to know your quarry? Okaris counsels himself.

"As you wish," Okaris acknowledges Almah's instructions.

Interesting, Okaris thinks as he listens to the pugnacious man. finally Okaris interrupts, "Dashki in your wanderings around the camp did you see anyone hanging around the astrologers wagon or actually see any of these mysterious pugwampis?"

Okaris listens and looks around the camp as the others go to find to Dashki.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Here are some I found:Link

Also, you might want at look at a chrome book which are like laptops with less off line uses.

Good luck with the detox :)

Equally as important, what do you intend to use it for?

Okaris will suggest they find out the following during their inquiries.
Questions:
1. Who was the last person to see the astrologer
2. Any friends/enemies
3. Any recent arguments
4. Recent reading/fortunes
5. Other strange events

Let me put some thought into it.

As the others find the body of the fortune teller in the charred ruins of the wagon Okaris catches Arian looking as Isadriewen's chest. He is about to say something and thinks better of it, thinking, The biggest fruits are often the sweetest.

Upon seeing Lark and Faffnyr going to take care of the remains Okaris silently joins them.

Okaris looks down at his clothes hoping they haven't been ruined by the chaotic events. He begins to absentmindedly stroke his goatee saying, "Nice job Isadriewen, I couldn't have done it without you. He begins brushing off his clothes obvious to what's going on around him.
Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 11
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

All, I am going to be on the road for the next three days and won't be able to post until late in the evenings eastern time.

Have fun!

Okaris Considers Isadriewens idea on lifting the barrel replying, "I'm not sure if I can lift it." He squats, wrapping his arms around the barrel and lifts. It teeters for a second, almost tipping over. In a flash Isadriewen is there to help stabilize the tilting barrel. Together the two move slowly towards the flames with their precarious cargo.

Str: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 1 + 2 = 20

Okaris rushes over to the barrel of water, noticing the haphazard approach everyone is taking. In his most authoritative voice he advises, "Form a line and pass the buckets down it will be quicker." Once everyone lines up he starts the process of passing the buckets up and down the line.

Okaris watches the pandemonium for a second, hearing Isadriewen's dire portent, he is spurred into action. He quickly comes to a decision racing toward the Wagon. The others are dealing with the fire and the wounded, he thinks as he lowers his center of gravity trying to push the wagon out of the way. "Move!" He grunts with the effort.

As he exerts himself he worries, Hurry get that fire out.

PM's sent out will have post up shortly.
