Odioki jumps for the creature, but even with Ezgara's guidance, he aims short. He scrambles to grab on, and for a moment he thinks the boney elf upon the creature's flank is the last thing he'll every see.

But then his fingers find a hold, and he is flooded with relief.

"The thief survives." He gives Ezgara a wry smile.

Odioki thinks of his brother, Tonaro, falling through the ice on that fateful day, the panic, and the struggle to rescue his twin from the frozen water.

He shakes the thought away. Even so, painful as it is, he would never give that memory away.

Odioki is relieved when he hears Onye volunteer.

"Are you sure?" Odioki asks, hoping however that Onye doesn't change his mind.
