This looks like an excellent game. A core friendly cleric is forming under this alias as we speak.

Withdrawing my candidacy.
Time crunch.

Question on the Weapon Focus house rule, do we clerics of Abadar (weapon Light Crossbow, simple weapon) ignore the +1bab prerequisite or do we get the bonus feat at second level?

Posting interest

Cleric of Abadar
Race and crunch to follow. Oh are we using traits? If so are there Campaign specific ones?

Questions are a burden to others; answers a prison for oneself.:

1. How long have you been playing RPGs? Since the flood. Well since Top Secret was a going concern anyway.

1a. What got you started? Moore era James Bond movies. They led to Top Secret which led to Gamma World which led to Ad&D.

2. What is your favorite character from fiction (This can include characters from modules and APs)? Too big a question... Flemings Bond? Tolkien's Tom Bombadil? Stela Gibbions's Flora Poste from Cold Comfort Farm. Far far too big a question.

3. What is your favorite character that you have created?
Probably Setebo. A Shakespeare quoting Beast totem Barbarian who is gleefully unaware of complexity. Think Dog from Red Dwarf and add RAGEPOUNCE!

4. What makes your character unique?
Frankly not much in the larger scheme. Vanilla support cleric with maybe a bit of archer for seasoning. For me though It will be one of the few times I have tried a cleric and a lawful one at that. Someone concerned with building community yet not overly authoritarian might be fun. A stretch anyway. That and I have never seen a Cleric of Abadar played.

5. What do you expect from me as a GM? That you do what you can to help us feel that our choices matter. The big direction may be forced by the adventure/campaign but smaller choices can and should have consequences.

6. What is your favorite color? Today, periwinkle.

7. What do you think my favorite AP is? Judging from the focus on communities I am guessing Kingmaker.

Hello submitting Occa For your edification and entertainment. A friendly if akward wandering priest of Gorza late of the fine vessel Tears of home. He has come to Sandpoint to see the new cathedral and to learn what Gorza has to tell him about the land.

All information under the alias. Taking the student of faith trait

Male

Aw rats.
But RL first and I am glad that things are going well for you. It was a fun game, you really brought a good deal to the festival and to Sandpoint. An excellent job cut tragically short.

Expect me to apply if things change and you start another Pbp game.
Good luck

Male

Hmmm that's funny didn't feel like my self there for a minute. Sorry.

"Stark! Stop running and think. If she is here then she has been here for hours. The place sounds full of goblins. They have not been here since the raid so that means another way in. And out. We will find her but we will not find her by running into a pack of the Green Gobblers. So calm down and stick together. We should sweep the north end of the building and work inward. If we can pick off a goblin or two away from the pack clearing them will be easier."

Occa opens the door that he has been listening at and looks in.

Male

Occa turns to the passers by.
"Get the guard! There is trouble here."

Breaking things and sounds of laughter. More melon heads.

Male

If Stark is not here.

"Skorabor, It appears friend Stark is inside. If you will lend me your shoulder I am sure we can open this door." Aid Another on str check? 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20.

If Stark is here.

"Ah my friends I do not like the sound of this. Mr. Boulderback would you be so kind as to open this door. If this is just a misunderstanding I am sure they will forgive the damage."

Male

"Did you try the door Skorabor?"

Male
Skorabor Skalfgrin Boulderback wrote:
Not being one for tact Skorabor walks up to the nearest door (AA,19) and bangs on it with three decisive knocks of his mailed fist. "Ameiko, are ye in there?", he calls out.

"Good a plan as any I suppose.

Occa follows the subtle dwarf.

Male

Out of breath after running in armor Occa asks "So the door to the north (AA,19)or the one in the curved wall (L,5) ?"

Everyone,

I humbly must take my leave from the game. I no longer have the time nor will to make my posting requirements any longer due to my personal life. I wish everyone the best of luck!

Very sorry to see you go. I hope things in real life turn out well. Please lurk and toss in comments if you can. This goes for AK's game as well.

Bon Voyage.

Male

To Bethana:"Of course we will. You keep things calm here and try to get word to Shalelu or the Mayor. ...

"Stark! Storm take him. Ameiko's been there for hours. Waiting for your back up to get their armor on will not make a difference."

Having donned his armor Occa heads for the glass works. Along with about half the town as seeing him and the dwarf come down in full regalia while Ameiko is not at her usual station must have caused a bit of a stir.

Male
DM Duke wrote:

Hooray infodump! I'll reproduce this on the campaign main page as well.

Shalelu responds to each of you. " I have a feeling that there was a goal behind it. What that goal is, I cannot fathom. I'm not entirely convinced the raid "failed" at all. Maybe it was a diversion, or maybe it was meant to send a message."

"Yes the smoke and noise of the raid would have been a excellent time for someone to sneak in and cut your anchor lines so to speak. Are we sure all the goblins were flushed out? Have you checked to make sure that they left no suprises behind?

Male

Occa questions the ranger and the marshal.

"Now that this raid has failed what do you think the response of the tribes will be?"

"You say only one tribe was really commited to this raid? One tribe cannot have hoped to have taken the town. Were they just overly enthuastic or did they have a different goal?

Male

"Of course Amiko. Though I am not sure what aid we can offer."

Occa hurries to catch up with the others.

Hey guys, I hate to do this in the middle of a battle, but I'm going to be unable to update anything until next week. Unfortunately, real life gets in the way sometimes!

No sweat. It happens.

DM Duke wrote:
I can tell you that the boar is down to -8 HP with 9 HP left to go to kill it. It has ferocity, which means it'll continue fighting. Occa can still make an action.

Hmmm thought I took my round 2 action.....

Round 1 strike boar as it charged Hawkeye.
Round 2 Stab boar
Round 3 Profit?
In anycase...

Round 3
Fight!
13/13 hit points
Ac 13

Occa drives the spear at the boar's flank. He is trying to distract the boar from the wounded Hawkeye.

"Come on you useless landlubber!"

Attack courage and buckler 1d20 + 3 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 1 - 1 = 10. Damage, courage 1d8 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7

Male

Charge for a boar is at least 60 feet I was staying back to deny it a full attack, but no big. Especially as it means I hit the charging beast for 7 + 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 or 15 points.

Round 2
13/13 hit points
Ac 13/15 vs the boar

Occa pulls the spear free from the Boar and attemps to pin it to the forest floor with an overhand stab.

Attack courge and buckler 1d20 + 3 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 1 - 1 = 12. Damage in the unlikely event that hit, courage included 1d8 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 = 6

Male

Round 1
HP 13/13
AC 13

Occa, showing some familiarity with the spear as it is not that different than his trident, braces the butt against the ground and awaits the beast's charge. Attack, buckler worn 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 3 - 1 = 22. Critical? 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 - 1 = 6. Damage 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7.

Male

In the stables.
"Sir! A princely gift! You are most kind."
Occa grimly notes the trophies. He has heard tales of pirates keeping such grisly momentos. The tales never end well for the pirate.

To Durvin. "This pony should fit you nicely." Occa knows nothing of horseflesh but he recognizes that Aldern wishes to make a gesture and is trying to help them both save face.

While hunting
"So is this your land Aldern?" Occa seems little interested in the answer. To tell the truth he seems more interested in the sound of the wind and looking for birds than in hunting deer or boar.

Male

Once Aldern leaves, or when his attention is otherwise engaged Occa will slip back to the cathedral and the shrine to Gorzeh.

Once there he performs what rites seem appropriate. It feels odd worshiping the stormfather on land. Especially since Occa is bending prayers that usually aid a ship in riding storms to fit his plea for aid in riding through the coming boar hunt.

After that Occa returns to the Dragon and tries to sleep.

Male

"Well Hawkeye seems to be making friends."

Male

After the food Occa will head out to look for work. This living on land gig is expansive.

Male

Oh dear Occa does not do well with publicity.

Occa leaves his weapons, armor, and pack in his room. He has a club and buckler on his belt and on the opposite hip. He is wearing simple clothing of sun washed blue and green canvas.

"Thank you Amiko, I will become spoiled by all this good fresh food!"

Some responses to comments from the crowd.

"We didn't do anything special, just tried to help."

"The real heroes are the Sheriff and the deputies we are just some travellers."

"Well we happened to be armed and armored when the attack started, chance or a bit of Gorzeh's luck really."

Male
DM Duke wrote:
Ameiko returns with the party's drinks and answers Occa's question. "What you did was enough, believe me! Without you, many more people would have been injured, or the gods forbid, killed... These kind of things don't happen often at all. We see the occasional goblin lurking in our trash or terrorizing a dog, but they are easily driven off. Most of the time they stay away."

Occa muses..I wonder why they don't like dogs?

Male

hmmm board ate my post. odd.

Occa joins Hawkeye in the Rusty Dragon. He loks tired but he brings the refreshing scent of the sea with him.

"No mam we are not heroes. Just happened to be there. Wish we could have done more, thank you for the food though. Do you often get attacks like this?"

Male

I have neither knowledge of, nor opinon on the goblin matter. I do wonder how the good townsfolk will react to the news....

Occa continues to work at the cathedral. Was there any damage to the new building from the attack?

DM Duke wrote:
Actually, I've gone from Hurricane country to Tornados! Huntsville was one of the cities hit pretty hard in April.

Well tornados are smaller so your odds are getting better. How do you like Alabama?

I have some distant relations in the area but I have never been.

"I am going to look for our friend, Occa." Hawkeye hopes to catch up with Occa to ask him a few things in the Cathedral. Also he'd like to see how his Earth brothers and sisters pray to their own gods.

Assuming he finds Occa before he heads back to the Rusty Dragon

Such a holy place. So much wonder. Yet filled today with such suffering.

Hawkeye see's Occa doing his priestly thing. He knows better than to disrupt a shaman in mid-ritual so he politely waits for Occa to finish before approaching.

"He who is called Occa! It is a pleasure to see you, friend. I see you have taken care of those here."

Occa smiles. "Good to see you to Hawkeye. The good father her did the real work. I just helped around the edges." Occa lowers his voice. "How goes with the goblin? Learn anything?"

Male
DM Duke wrote:

Tiring! Had to make the drive between Florida and northern Alabama twice (about 800 miles each time, I believe). Our stuff arrives tomorrow and then we have to unpack, so that'll take a while too.

Otherwise, it wasn't so bad.

So which part of Hurricane country are you in now? Asks the guy living on an active fault in the shadow of a live volcano and in spitting distance of a sweet second strike target.

Nope.

But is is Gen-con time. Our DM might be overwealmed by fun.

Male

Just checking in. I am happy doing the priest thing. Just letting you know I'm still here. This prision scene is working very well. I am enjoyably lurking.

You're fine. I like to roleplay. I like to "see" what I'm doing (in-game). I'm not feeling that right now. In addition to feeling ignored. Beginning to think this isn't the right game for me to be in. But, I'd like to talk first before any decisions are made.

Hmmmm you seemed pretty involved during the goblin fights. I was enjoying seeing a clear example of how wordcasting can work.

I am not quite sure what you mean by seeing what you are doing in game, but then I can be pretty dense sometimes.

I know the pace has slowed a bit but with summer and vacations and things that is to be expected. I know the DM is very open to us soloing, when Occa wandered off to help with the wounded the gm offered to solo role play it and it was me who choose the off screen role.

Is there something Stark wants to do?

Male
Stark Mostovoi wrote:

I'm sorry, how can I help? The interrogation has the spotlight at the moment but you could help with the wounded. Things are quiet for the non-goblin crowd right now but that will change.

DM Duke wrote:

"Occa, it is nice to meet you, sir. Thankfully there weren't many casualties. Few people perished during the attack and most of the injuries were minor. There are a few here who could still use some help, if you wouldn't mind." Zantus points you toward a group of injured folk: two men, a woman, and a young boy. The wounds seems to be relatively minor, mostly lacerations across the legs. The boy has a gash on his arm.

We can RP this, or jump ahead once the rest are done with the goblin. I'll follow your lead :)

I'm good with jumping ahead. I'll just cross of 1 or 2 channels and call it good?

Male

As he nears the Cathedral Occa slips his holy symbol to the outside of his armor.

Occa, slightly suprised to see a shrine to Gozreh here take a moment for prayer before moving into the courtyard and approachint Father Zantus.

"Father Zantus, my name is Occa, and I am a priest of Gozreh. How can I help?"

Male

"Thank you Sheriff."

To the others. "I am off to the cathedral. Meet at the Rusty Dragon round night fall?"

Assuming no questions etc. Occa will head off to find Father Zantus.

Male

"Well met Sheriff Hemlock, Vachedi. It looks like you have things under control here. I am Occa a priest of wind and water, I might be able to help with the injured. Where would I best be used?"

There is a great evil coming and I must face it. This could be the fist omen. I think it prudent to talk to the gaurds and see what we can do to help protect in case of another attack or even bring the attack to the goblins. To wash our hands of this tonight would not be wise, I fear."

Occa seems thoughtful

"Hmmmm.... This was a large raid. It may have had an object. I would recommend keeping weapons handy tonight. There may be more of them in hiding."

Male

that is odd. Dot fell off.

I suspect goblins.

Male

I'm happy with Occa as a traditional caster.
So I'm good.
No changes

Male

To the man. "Jak was a valient beast."

...blood to the sea, breath to the clouds. You go as we have gone and we will follow...

Occa says a swift prayer for the dog and the goblins.

To the others. "Come on. Let's find the sheriff. This may not be over yet."

Male

Occa moves swiftly to the man and dog.

'Hawkeye, Dervin, Stark, Check the adjoining streets. Skobar, stay here unless they call out. I'll just be a minute."

Is the dog dead or just bleeding out. I will try sacred touch (stabalize) unless there is clearly no hope. Head severed etc. Heal check if useful 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
