Does anyone have a link to a picture for the threatened area of large creature, and so on...

awesome ty for the quick response is there a list of them on d20prd?

Could someone give me a brief run down of what they are, how you get, and the basics about them. While reading through some posts I see mention of them but really don't know what they are.

I'm making a level 5 witch atm and am looking for some advice as to what hexes and spells I should pick up, thanks in advance.

Also feats, gear, and maybe even trait suggestions would be helpful.

Liches are literally created from everything we as gamers love.

Pally 4/Inquisitor1 (animal) to start. Once you get the companion, and can take it, get boon companion. Will get you the extra oomph you need, as well as some healing powers for the group.

Hmm haven't looked at the Inquisitor yet, thanks for the suggestion. Any other suggestions and the like much appreciated.

EDIT:So why Inquisitor?

So I was about set on playing a witch in our three man group tomorrow and found out that our barbarian is going to be a Wizard now. So should I stick with Witch, use the Sorc gish, or do somethign else entirely?

Our three man group will now be Swashbuckler pirate, Wizard, and myself.

If you are going this route you would likely use extracts to boost your martial prowess. Combine Extracts is a great way to slip multiple buffs into a single handy gulp. If you have Adventurers Armory (and if your GM allows it you should, it's an alchemists best friend) take accelerated drinker to allow you to scarf a potion in hand as a move action. While you are browsing the armory grab the spring loaded wrist sheaths and load each one with an extract or mutagen.

The Wrist Sheath says "This is a sheath designed to be strapped to your forearm and hidden under a long sleeve. The sheath can hold one light weapon, ranged weapon, or wand that weighs less than 1 pound. Alternatively, you may store up to 1 pound of ammunition in a wrist sheath. ..." To me that would mean you wouldn't be able to put a potion in this thing.(I only ask because my DM is very technical and may not allow it, unless otherwise specified...)

Ugh my post got eaten....

I have had to fill the role of healer in times past and even though I used to love clerics in 3.5 I just hate hacing to go around being the human band-aid, especially in the group I'm going to be playing with.(Bunch of cutthroats that see clerics as healers and waste of space for anything other than that.)

Well basically I was looking at:http://paizo.com/paizo/messageboards/paizoPublishing/pathfinder/pathfind erRPG/advice/sorcererGishBlasterWhichWayToGo, and think I want to try paladin 3, sorcer 2, dragon diciple 8, EK 5, and I am looking for advice on this build. What should my stats be... should I do Pally 3, Sorc2 to start at for 5?

As far as what books and such I can use "he dm is open to any pathfinder approved book, as seen with Tome of secrets char, and any forum create/converted material." So as far as 3.5 not really unless it is "converted" or deemed unecessary of converstion on these boards.

I see, I feared this response but expected it to come. Well thanks anyway.

So browsing through the forums I'm almost positive I want to play some form of a a caster. Currently I'm looking at Sorc(to lich), summoner, or maybe a Wizard. Can anyone link or write up a build or concept for any of these chars?

I really like the flavor a a Sorc that becomes a lich but I wonder if it's more trouble than it is worth.

Ever since summoner playtest came out I have been wanting to play it though. So those atm anyway are probably the choices I'm leaning towards, any comment/oppinion/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

So in short I want to know the communties oppinions and such or going about making a lich pc. Basically in short what is required to do so? Can anyone link and give me a build set up for becoming a lich. Thanks in advance,

What type of alignment are you looking at? What do you think your group alignment will be? IS there going to be a group theme (Gnome, pirate, holy avengers)? What campaign is going to be used? is it Homebrewed?

It will be homebrewed to a point, for the first few sessions it will be more vanilla as the new DM gets comfortable with forming his world. There doesn't have to be any strict theme a pirate just made it for the lols. As far as alignment the other two members of the gorup are usually like chaotic nuetral but are more evil or self serving in play.

THank You for the posts everyone.

Do you have the luxury of being able to discuss the campaign background/nature of the campaign with your DM and fellow players?

...that'd help you decided and would allow you provide 'we the people' with more background info so we could give informed advise tailored to your needs.

Else you can expect to see generic answers (Cleric! Wizard!) o-O

So, what kinda campaign?

Personally I'd say - GO BARD or Lawful Good Divination Spec Wizard. Bards can fit into almost any campaign and I'm enjoying my Lawful Good Divination Spec Wizard at the moment.

I dream of a utopian society of peace and justice, vigilantly enforced by blessed iron golems, each deployed from orbit in times of crisis. BE GOOD *KAPOW*!

From what I know so far we start off locked up in a dungeon, then released when some "friendly" orcs raid the place, release us, then party.

I also like gishy classes as well, the swordmage from forgotten realms in 3.5/3rd edition was probably one of my favorite classes if anyone has any suggestions on that as well

Would anyone happen to have, or be able to list for me the 3rd party pathfinder supplements? Books like Tome of Secrets for example....

Thanks in advance.

So my group is starting up a new campaign with a different dm to give myself some play time. So I am to make a new char for friday, and I'm unsure as what to play. To my knowledge we will be starting level 5, 20 point buy, and there will be a swashbuckler(pirate) and most likely a barbarian. This will be a three man group including myself and I would like to know what you believe would be the best class choice.

The dm is open to any pathfinder approved book, as seen with Tome of secrets char, and any forum create/converted material. As for what I like to play... well in 3.5 I loved my sorsors but none of has tried sorc/wiz since we started playing pathfinder. Seems melee is covered so I guess that kinda takes out the primary melee fighters, but maybe not.

So I'd love to hear character suggestions and some builds/links to builds as well. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: also maybe some flavor build ideas as well... kinda like our pirate swashbuckler

By having a strong aligned aura they become more visible to detect spells. Even a level 1 paladin can be detected under detect good, but without such an aura it takes 5 hit dice (ie level 5) to be detected.

Relevant link. Namely the chart at the bottom (which applies to all alignment detection).

Is that chart actually in the book?

So the Palidan's aura of good and any aura in general, can anyone detect/feel these within range of the aura or are the only detected by spells such as detect good ect. or abilities of similar nature? Also what exactly is the purpose of the Palidan aura of good?

Is the swashbuckler class in the tome of secrets overpowered?

So I have some questions about the warlock.

The book talks of arcane school list for other spells, is this the wizard school list? If so what level can you take the ability if it doesn't list a level?

Can warlocks use metamagic? If so how does it work?

Do they really need CHA for anything but cantrips?

Any other thoughts in this class in the Tome of Secrets book is much appreciated.

I was thinking perception, disguise, imntimidation, bluff, diplomacy, stealth

So what skill checks that the pcs make should the dm roll? i.e. perception, intimidation....

So I will take that as a no huh? Well guess I should go download that SDK now.

I was wondering if there were pathfinder apps for windows mobile 6? Like the PRD and maybe char sheets and dice rollers and such.

I thank you all for your imput and have decided to use Elghinn's dragonborn as the bases for the race in my campaign, thank you very much.

I like it but as far as the breath weapon goes what about an option of cone or line, the line having a longer range?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

So i want a Dragonborn race like that of 4e to use in my campaign. I would like it to be a player able race so no HitDice or level adjustmeant.

The 4e Dragonborn:
The dragonborn are an ancient draconic race, filled with a long tradition of courage and honor. Dragonborn despise fear and praise traits such as loyalty and honor. Dragonborn make excellent paladins and fighters, as well as strong clerics and warlocks.

RACIAL TRAITS
Average Height: 6´2"–6´8"
Average Weight: 220–325 lb.
Ability Scores: +2 Strength, +2 Charisma
Size: Medium
Speed: 6 squares
Vision: Normal

Languages: Common, Draconic

Skill Bonuses: +2 History, +2 Intimidate

Dragonborn Fury: When you’re bloodied, you gain a +1 racial bonus to attack rolls.

Draconic Heritage: Your healing surge value is equal to one-quarter of your maximum hit points + your Constitution modifier.

Dragon Breath - Dragonborn Racial Power

Now this would need to be modified for pathfinder so i was wondering if anyone has done this yet or if anyone had some suggestions on what to do with it.

that is what i had thought but my dm "interpreted" that having a penalty to dex was being denied dex even though not all of it, and the hole deeper darkness things goes there are some creatures that can see in any darkness for example dark stalkers.

I was playing a monk grappling with a a creature in deeper darkness and the creature you could see but i could not, i initiated the grapple. Can the creature that has sneak attack get a sneak attack on my while I'm grappled? What if i can see just fine but because if have lost "a bonus to my dexterity", as the rules state, but not all of it, can it still get sneak attack?

"The rogue's attack deals extra damage anytime her target would be denied a Dexterity bonus to AC (whether the target actually has a Dexterity bonus or not), or when the rogue flanks her target." That line in particular is the problem how it says a dexterity bonus my dm said because i had lost a dex bonus to my ac because the way sneak attack is worded then the enemy can get sneak attack because grapple imparts a -4 dex penalty.

ok none of that matters, so does anyone have any advice or links that could help me with this?

DPR if you wish, and the term dps isn't automatically linked to WOW, you know there were games that existed before WOW and to assume someone that says DPS has played WOW well ya

wraithstrike wrote:

Are you trying to make another healbot?

Is that one half gold according to market price or can you use the item creation feat price?

Which books are allowed?

Well the first two questions are answered in the post, i want dps not healbot, and yes i can use item creation feats but if i do only half of the gold, i think it's 10500, so 5250 can be used in item creation and that is based off the reduced price of the item not the market value. As far as books just pathfinder core.

The characters starting level will be 5 using 15 point point buy starting gold of a level 5, only half gold can go to item creation feats (if i take them) and no more than half gold can go to 1 item.

That is the info the dm has given me to make a character. So basically I want a cleric that has good damage. Race wise i usually play dwarven clerics but that isn't set in stone. All the clerics i have played previous have been healbots and i don't really know how to start.

Should pc's be given experiance for an encounter if a monster runs away?

only problem is effiecient quiver only holds 60 arrows and if your hitting a lot your losing all those arrows so with shooting like 5 arrows a turn your out of arrows really fast. Is there a limit to the number of quivers you can have?

"Combine this with a bag of holding which can store dozens if not HUNDREDS of filled ordinary quivers and refilling the efficient quiver between combats is a snap!" <---- i missed that

So i had a couple questions about arrows and bow wielders. What are the rules for recovering shot ammunition both hit and missed? And on a different note what is a good way to carry mass amounts of arrows on you if your a manyshot, rapidshot, hasted archer.

do moral bonus stack?

What bonuses do stack i know generally most don't....

When i level a character up to level 4 say i had 11 int and now i up it too 12 do i gain the skill points retroactivly?

if a creature doesn't have a subtype then it is not that correct? for example a giant crab does not have the animal subtype therefore it isn't an animal?

As far as race goes i have no real preferance, however it was alluded that darkvision would be very useful so maybe half-orc. I like the idea of mounted combat especially with a palidan but my dm for some reason isnt to keen on mounts idk why. The palidan will be the front liner and therefore needs to be doing good damage but with survivability. Nonetheless if you have something in mind for a mounted build i'd like to see it.

The characters starting level will be 5 using 15 point point buy starting gold of a level 5, only half gold can go to item creation feats (if i take them) and no more than half gold can go to 1 item.

That is the info the dm has given me to make a character. Currently I believe there will be a cleric and a bard in the group, and there might be another person or 2.

What is the best way to get a ranged sneak attack?

Ok so the spell darkness says it lowers the light blah blah blah, so if it lowers the light to total darkness, do the people inside it still have concealment or total concealment against a creature with darkvision? I ask this because the spell itself says that it grants concealment in lowlight and total in darkness, so is that from the light change or is the spell granting concealment?

Basically if my rogue is in a darkness spell, getting ranged SA can he get one against a creature with darkvision?
