Desiring secrets above all, Jair against her best judgment accepts the deal with the Codex.

Let me know!

Of course Jair, just sign here, and here, and initial here. Honestly Jair, it would be simpler to just sell your soul to me rather than going about it piecemeal like this. There's so much paperwork otherwise.

Jair will casts guidance on Chandu before she tries.

My Soul is not for trade, nor for Hell. She belongs to another. But I could bargain some feeling for clues.

Come find me in the Young Adult Mortal Section then and I shall grant your wish. Come quick. Before your friend begins her reading of Upon the Razor’s Sigh.

It Jair goes, she finds the book again, and must sign again.

What would be the price?

That depends on what you want, Jair. A clue or two would only cost your feelings, the Thrune them self might cost as much as your soul.

Jair Whisper wrote:
Could you help me finished this hopeless mission? I need to find bad behavior from a contract devil known as Leventi as well as one of his contracted "client" a Thrune. Can you help?

Perhaps. Though obviously prices do vary, Jair. Did you want this 'Thrune' or perhaps a clue to Leventi's negligence.

Jair Whisper wrote:

Do you want to see my credential as a Pathfinder? Do you have something else to bargain with?

Asks Jair in her head.

I can give you whatever you want, Jair--for a price.

Lasaraleen will try to get closer to their destination

What about over here? I am not even sure what I am looking for in this awful place. Are the hellknights doing ok keeping up ? (or did they go elsewhere?)

It's a Acrobatics, Climb, Fly, or Survival check to get closer. Perception is to read the fine print. ;)

The Hell Knights are staying outside the city, in the Ghetto of Outcasts--way fewer guards.

Turning to Chandru Jair says I think that’s what Vetrivides asks us to do...

Jair:
The voice seems to draw you near a book with a lock on it sitting on a lectern under a chandelier that casts a hellish red light down upon it. The book has a complicated lock on it that rattles to life undoes itself. The tome (two-feet on a side) snaps open. The pages flip to a page with a contract on it.

... In exchange for girding the Mortal Client in the vestment of good health (see appendix 2, paragraph 2), the Mortal Client will provide the Codex (see section 1, paragraph 2) with all of their mortal belief in unfounded and unreasonable expectations of reality (hereafter referred to as 'Hope')....

There is a space at the bottom for a signature. And a black, barbed metal stylus on the lectern but no ink....

Sign Jair. Sign.

Basically you are signing away Jair's ability to hope in exchange for a Belt of mighty constitution +2. In this case, the Tome will just make the belt Jair is currently wearing (assuming it is ordinary) into the item requested. Loosing hope does of course impose a mechanical game cost in addition to any role-playing change you might want to employ.

Seeming elsewhere, Jair don’t say a word but smile at the mighty devil as it plays with them.

Lets find secrets then!

Jair:
Go ahead and pick out your favorite CORE magical item worth 7,500 gp or less and I'll give you the cost.

Jair Whisper wrote:

Yes?

Says Jair, looking at the infinite parchment.

Jair:
You seek knowledge. I have such. Let us help one another. Share with me what you seek and I shall share with you its secret.

By this Jair intuits that what the voice means is that it will give to her a magical item of no more than 7,500 gp in value in return for something else.

Jair... whispers a voice only Jair can hear from one of the seemingly infinite shelves of books.
