Zyren: At this rate I don't think I have a choice. I am stressed and exhausted, I barely have any energy. I've scarcely posted in any of my threads for the last week, nor in the games in which I play - and for that I apologise. I don't truly feel as though I have a place in the HoRunes campaign as it is right now. I'm rather detached to the group and the story, which is more my fault for not having taken my time. I'm sorry.
HoR cast: Nieve is ambivalent about all of it. He wants to believe that good begets good, and through mercy, they won't return to seek vengeance or be a future obstacle. He's also not so naive to think that's reality. He's against taking lives, but it might be a necessity. He's a very passive character, but will argue about the good in all that lives and all that Shelyn bullcrap, out of habit. Letting the sheriff take care of them might be a plan, though the question that requires answer is: will they return to exert vengeance upon us? The risk with intimidation is, in the aftermath, if they are spared, they are wont to hold grudges and not appreciate the mercy. In which case Nieve and Celestra are likely not subject to that vengeance since they didn't, y'know, treat the prisoners like trash. That's just me, though. Whatever happens is all in good fun.
Nieve leaves Elyn with Kanyk. The weasel is still shimmering with light. "If you get in trouble, I will know. Elyn is currently carrying a spell of healing, if it is necessary. Please treat him with care, Mr. Kanyk..." Elyn still has the Cure Moderate Wounds touch charge from the fight with then Bunyips - I assume this is okay since touch spells can be held indefinitely. Nieve also has an empathic link with his familiar - so he will be aware if Elyn is under any distress, or if he experiences fear. So will Elyn if we get into danger... Nieve follows Celestra and looks at the torture instrument with disgust. "It is baffling that such instruments are ever used... then again, I have heard many say the world would be a boring place without conflict." He glances around the room carefully. Take 10 on Perception for a bonus of 13.
Nieve seems to wake up with Celestra's plea, and he listens closely. With Karlan's question he sighs and looks at Celestra. "...it is a dreadful experience..." "Celestra, if you wish to check the cells, I will accompany you. I can leave Elyn with Kanyk. He will be alerted in case they stumble upon danger."
I wanted to apologise for my mediocre contribution in HoRunes. I've been very stressed the last month with real life, and it's catching up to me and reaching its peak this coming week. I also have problems, admittedly, 'fitting' in with Nieve as a character since he is passive support. I am not sure how I can contribute to the team apart from healing, a base which Celestra covers well. I'm still here, and I wish to continue, I'm just finding it difficult because of a lot of stress. I'm sorry.

It'll be digital colouring - I think she's going to send me the actual drawing so I have it in person.
Thank you - and my friend is happy to hear. If you want to see more of her (OMFG BLATANT ADVERTISING D: ), here's her DeviantArt page.
So my friend is almost completed with her picture of Nieve. She sent me the near-finished WIP, though, and then she'll colour it. Until then, thouhh, here is Nieve in all his glory.
Celestra:
"I don't know...? If you have done something to offend, I haven't noticed." Sorry, been missing things left and right lately...
Nieve trails after the others, staying mostly quiet. When they approach the temple-room doors, there is a twitch in his eye. "You'd almost think they're overcompensating for something," he says, in utter disbelief. "Do... by the bloody feathers of Shelyn, would anyone worship something like this? Because that's what this is, isn't it? A place of worship?"
Nieve nibbles on the small wound on his thumb until the blood starts to run, before he takes Karlan's hand (willing or not). He engraves the seal on his hand, the blood turning shimmering silver. Celestra no longer has +2 to AC and +2 to Saving Throws. Karlan, you gain a +2 Deflection Bonus to AC and a +2 Resistance bonus to Saving Throws. The ward lasts until you are hit or fail a saving throw.
Retcon with Celestra:
Nieve nods along quietly, gasping when you mention the ogres, and smiling when the story takes a turn for the better. He wipes his eye with a quiet sigh as the tale reaches an end, but grows a little wary when asked about his past. "I ... you asked about my devotion earlier. I failed to reply. My mother is a priestess dedicated to Shelyn. My father... I only know he was an elven wanderer with a smile that could charm even the most reserved lady. My mother speaks ever so fondly of him, but truth be told I don't even know his name. I was raised by my mother in Magnimar." "I was never loved by the streets. Not truly. Adults treated me as well they would, but the children would mock my heritage. I let my hair grow to cover the ears, but... well, they stick out anyway. Supposedly they are my father's." "My mother sent me away to hopefully awaken the magic in my veins. It was a pointless effort. After failing to perform even the simplest cantrip, I was sent home. My mother was disappointed, even if she proclaimed the usual 'I love you' and 'you are my darling', and every other recital from her books teachings." "I found Elyn and ... I awakened to understand the magic in my veins shortly after. My mother... we had a quarrel. ... I... forget about what. I left home. I was tired of the city. Tired of everything. I had my father's ears, she said, my father's voice. So I decided I would do as my father, and wander." "So I came to Sandpoint, and have been there since."
Nieve looks away from the mounted heads, clenching his fists. "By Shelyn's bloody feathers..."
Yeah, I am. I'll work harder, since we're about to enter a dungeon, I think? My players in the Kingmaker RP have the worst luck. Or rather, my Kingmaker dicebot hates them. Been rolling random encounters for them - first one was a Shambling Mound (CR 6) - I decided to be merciful, so I rolled another random encounter, which ended up being a Grizzy Bear (CR 4). It almost killed two of them. Day two? Dicebot decides to give them a troll. CR 5. ...
Nieve glances at the rope bridge, his body displaying only reluctance. He gazes down into the great depths below, biting his lip. "We have to, don't we?" He says to no-one in particular. With a deep breath, and another one, he follows Harry, very quietly. The panick in his body is obvious as he fails to balance as nimbly as he'd like... Stealth check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Nieve rubs Thumper between the ears as he watches the others infiltrate the goblin camp... when he realises he is alone with Celestra. He turns to the lady and lets out a soft cough. When he speaks, it is with song. Celestial:
"Celestra, you are of angelic heritage, are you not? How... was your life, growing up? I never truly asked where you were from, or how you came to arrive in Sandpoint when you did ..." Elyn squeaks underneath his cloak as Nieve gently pushes Thumper on his back to rub his belly. He smiles at Celestra all the while, gauging her reaction to his speaking the language of angels.

I apologise if I came off as close-minded or if I offended anyone - I try to not treat people differently based on colour or gender or sexuality (the latter in particular, what with being gay myself and all). It isn't always easy with particular memories or experiences, though. I agree entirely with you, Shifty. Yeah... well, I gave them a metaphorical one once upon a time, heh.
Zyren Zemerys wrote: I guess not all women are as bad as the ones you had around you during that time-you should give 'em a new chance :) I know. As I said beforehand: "I don't presume to treat anybody based on their gender - if you're nice to me, I'm nice to you." While it is a bit of a lie - I'm more cautious around women than I am around men - the general rule still applies. I try to not think of anybody as "a gender." We're all human in the first place.
Zyren:
I think I'll withdraw from the Heart of Madness campaign. I'm just not feeling my character. It isn't your fault, though. I'm sorry. Personally, I dislike the social double standard that favour women today. Always got the impression that in today's Western culture, women have the same rights as men, if not more, and yet they are always treated as though they're victims. I don't presume to treat anybody based on their gender - if you're nice to me, I'm nice to you, and so on. It's blatant I'm biased, though. I was the only guy in a group of eight during high school. When my mental health started to deteriorate, they all told me to "stop being such a drama queen" because I never had to suffer menstruation, and that I was weak because I "never had to go through child birth." Good thing I never actually have to deal with women. EDIT: Removed some parts of the post because it was rather crude and pointless.
Nieve doesn't say much after Celestra's sudden ... confrontation? He stays back, picking up Elyn when the weasel comes climbing up the rope. He tucks the weasel under his cloak. When the question of Nualia and blood pops into view, he eyes Karlan with half a frown, but doesn't speak up. He only watches when Harry and Kanyk and Karlan sneak up to the briar patch, and he kneels down to get acquainted with Thumper.
DM Zyren: I was wondering if I could change some aspects of Nieve? Particularly his Patron. Currently I have the Elements patron - I was thinking of either switching to the Healing or Light Patron. What it mechanically means is a different set of spells every other level. It would mean that I'd lose Shocking Grasp for another spell (either Dancing Lantern or Remove Fear). Ultimately, the way I envisioned Nieve is a lot different from how he's being played. He's too passive and withdrawn to be up in the enemy's faces with great balls of fire (though come level 6, he'd actually have the explosive spells, so that could change) - on the other hand, if I did the role he would take is support/healer, and we already have Celestra... I was also wondering, could I take the Hedge Witch archetype? It only takes effect at 4th level in any case - and it gives Nieve spontaneous healing (without need of the cure spell in his spell book, to boot) - in exchange for the 4th level Hex. I know this firmly entrenches Nieve's role as a healer - but on the other hand, it also means I'll have my spell slots open for support spells, while I'd always have the capability to heal if absolutely necessary. Do you have any thoughts?
"Elyn," Nieve murmurs, forming a seal and symbol with his fingertips. The curative energy resonates as it creates a silver sheen in the palm of his hand; the weasel peers out of the hood and squeals curiously. "I trust you. Go down the rope with Ser Karlan. If any of them are severely hurt..." He lays two fingers on Elyn's face as the silver sheen shifts onto the weasel; Elyn's fur is shimmering faintly, and he lets out a soft squeak, nodding. "Go." Elyn jumps onto the rope, latching onto it with surprising strength; he rushes after Ser Karlan... Round 1; Nieve casts Cure Moderate Wounds and transfers it to Elyn (Deliver touch spells Familiar feature). Elyn uses his 20 climb speed to climb down the rope. Round 2; Nieve and Elyn will delay until somebody is severely hurt. Cure Moderate Wounds healing: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (1, 8) + 3 = 12
