When the feasting is done and the dragons have departed, Nestis turns to Teegor.

"It is time to seek a new venture. I will invest my earnings into obtaining - or building - a fortress. One not too far from a city but far enough away that we shall not be bothered overmuch."

"It shall be a place barred to bloody adventurers!"

It's been a lot of fun and I enjoyed this campaign a lot. If you're still game, I'd be up for another adventure.

I'll write Nestis' epilogue after the dinner scene.

"Honoured guests, we have had the distinct and unforgettable pleasure of securing key ingredients for this splendid meal. After settling the matter of the rampant Cerarhine Bull, we sought the amethyst plums. The local settlement, alas, had none. So we ventured forth, drawing on all of our skill and wit to determine their location. Slaying yuan-ti killers and literate yet irksome wolves, we made it to the grove. Resisting the strange aura of the trees, I obtained said plums. After a delightful chance meeting with helpful fey, we enjoyed a banquet, a prelude to this exceptional banquet. A toast, to this superb fare!"

"My lady, it is as my colleagues say. Tarts for the impending feast for the Dragon Kings were seized by your brother, hence our search."

He quietly approaches the door, pokes his head around so that he can see the thief, and calls in a soft and pleasant tone:

"Please come out so we can have a chat!"

Nestis resorts to old habit.

He licks the air, tasting it for traces of the purloined pastries.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

He then muses on profiling a thief of such items. What chain of life events would lead a sentient to end up on such a course.

Investigation: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Let's split!

"I'll join you, Mark. Let's hunt down this tart thief so we can get paid double!"

"Pla-ti-num.", Nestis stresses to the chef, doing his level best to ignore what sounds like mental breakdowns all around him.

Nestis fishes out the amethyst plums he had carefully stashed in his apparel.

He coughs, trying to seize the chef's attention from Mark's justified rage and Corso's delusions (?) of grandeur.

"Head chef, we have the plums, as *requested*. Do you have our stacks of platinum ready?"

Persuasion: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13

Ack. I thought I had replied.

"You know what? We can leave them here. We have a job to do."

Nestis begins to stroll off...

Peering down at the captured trio, Nestis asks:

"Soooo, Dalzi, Zayre, youngling. What was the big plan? Kill or capture?"

"Teegor, help me bind these ones. They might be talkative!", the em-barked Nestis says rather cheerily, reaching for his own rope.

Nestis whips out his exquisite cittern and *strums*.

He strums until his fingers turn barky. As does the rest of his flesh.

He snaps his wood-feeling fingers, as if testing them and calls out:

"Teegor, get stuck in!"

How are these armed and armoured? Specifically, any large chunks of metal?

"I'm disabling them to soften them up - prime, rare tactics!"

"You can keep saying that as they cut your throat.", replies Nestis.

Ah softskins, with their notions!

"They're not friends. They're ruthless killers who *aren't* on our side. So do something about them!"

Nestis grins then says:

"Let's kill them all before they do the same to us! They won't want witnesses!"

As he speaks, he casts. A twisting pattern of colours weaves momentarily in the air around the oncoming kill squad.

A hypnotic pattern, one might say.

How far away are they?

Nestis shows a good mood.

Success thus far and looking like more success soon. So much platinum!

Nestis sleeps soundly, utterly satisfied for once.

I was having the same issue for most of the last week, so I get it.

Nestis appraises the spread, hoping silently for his favourite flightless bird dishes.

Ah. She does appear quite lovely by the standards of the softskins. Good for him.

"Mark, you lucky son-of-a-bow! Congratulations on this lovely reunion! Come, let us go and enjoy the hospitality of our clearly gracious hosts."

Nestis replies:

"Well, good ent, how could we refuse such a generous offer?"

A delay. Unfortunate. Oh well, we should get fed at least. Wait, why is Mark looking so...oh.

Looking at the lady, Nestis cheerily adds:

"So, hello there! You know Mark then?"

Understood.

Well. Damn.

Nestis reduces his grin to a broad smile and gazes across the faces of the various gatherered fey. During this, his busy hands deftly stow away the remaining plums into pouches.

"Why hello there, Rundahlrombdree! Nestis Tassi is my name. My friends and I were just visiting. We will not be bothersome guests and we intend to leave shortly!"

Smile, maintain eye contact, appear genuine.

Then, his hand reaches for another, tempting fate.

"Yes. They're hunters from my old clan. They're sore losers. As they implied themselves about a "case of dead", I wasn't kidding about them being fine with killing us all. It's unfortunate that they've gotten away. They'll want vengeance."

"Anyway! Let's get rolling to these plums."

"AHAHAHAHA! Some hunter, with a scorched paw!", laughs Nestis out loud.
