Odd I cut it from photobucket.... dang it.
I like where this thread is going. As for the DCs for crafting I have been doing this in my 3.5 game for awhile but seeing cleaned up with some solid rules is a blessing. Now a few things and ideas for you. I feel that other classes should be able to craft magic items with out being a spell caster and I have an idea or two to help this out. Since we are talking about a penalty for not having the spell on your list
1. They can be a one time use or something that is permanent. Which ever would balance more. Say it functions as a tool equal to having up to 1st,2nd,3rd or what ever spell level it is. Cost of the tool could be gold amount x spell level equivalent = cost to buy. 2. They could buy a scroll of the spells needed and burn it up crafting the item. Like transferring the magical essence of the scroll to the item being created. This once again could substitute not having the spell or being a spell caster penalty. I also agree with Kong on using items in place of spells or to create magical items. Our gaming group has been doing this as well and they love the feel of history it bring to an item. I feel it could be added in one of the side boxes that Paizo has been using. Similar to how the DMG had the alternate rules to summoning on DMG pg 37.
Many of you have summed this up so well and I feel I'm writing this more for those that have put the time and effort into making such a well crafted campaign world and system to play it in. I have been a DM for over 18 years and I started by running Greyhawk. After some time I moved on to Realms. I liked Realms for a long time being a R.A. Salvatore reader but the world lost its shine to me after awhile. I felt boxed in by the knowledge players had on the world. Anytime I wanted to changed something written in Realms history there was someone fighting against it. It started to remind me of Star Wars arguments. So I turned to making my own world. Now in Golarion the book gives you ideas not solid lines. Entries though out the do a phenomenal job with culture and how the civilizations view one another. The gods are there to work for the player and DM but not to hamper their creativeness. Thankfully what they don't do is leave this locked in set of history that players feel can't be changed. The world has some serious thought put into it. Each country is a life all its own and they did a great job capturing the individual feel of them without over burdening the reader. As a DM I enjoy layout of the campaign book more than I have any other published world over 3.5s lifespan. Everything is easy to find. The book its self is build solid and the art is fantastic! As writers they have years of building a rock solid foundation while publishing Dungeon and Dragon magazines. Not to even mention the Pathfinder series. Paizo also makes it so a new DM or a Vet can run a game in the world while feeling at home with a minimal amount of study. Above all else they care what the people playing and buying think. This is what we all have wanted in a company and in a campaign world. I mean look at it, they put an open beta out for the system and are extremely active on the boards. Not only did they listen but the implemented things we wanted to see. How often do we as the players, fans and supporters do we get this out of our hobby now days. Great job guys and keep it up!
Just want to say I'm extremely pleased with the creations rules and I can see a lot of the things my group has been doing for years in there as well. Its a good set up. I can also say coming from a few month run of 4th edition its nice to have some good crafting rules again. Not saying I dislike 4th just that I miss some things from OGL. Figured I'd put that out before getting shot.

Thanks got it to work. Now off to create the most wonderful of wondrous items.
So I know that this has some of the magical items that where missing from the beta but I remember back in August there was another download that had magical items in there. I need something out of it for reference yet I can't find a place to download the web enhancement. Anyone know where I can find it on the site?

This was a huge event Paizo put on at the GenCon 08. There was around 150 to 180 people playing and creating the history of the drow found in Second Darkness adventure path. I had a blast helping run this event with some of the most skilled people I have had the honor to game with in years.
I have them all and I have been looking through them. It can't be the first few parts because those where out. I just got 16 and the map seem familiar but looking for some of the events that where recorded. Such as who took the crown, the poison gas, the falling aboleth...ok that won't be in there but still.
So its been awhile since i posted here but i have 3 things that i'll ball up here. 1. The box set is something I am working on but trying to figure out if its going to be 4th or Paizo Patherfinder. The campaign world is almost completed. 2. I am starting up my own video game company called Sunder Studios and our first game is going to be set in the same world i ran at GenCon. Not only will be set there but it will be built in an episodic style. 3. Wasn't the stuff we did at Ascension of the Drow supposed to how up in a Pathfinder issue?

I like your world, let me know if you plan on doing a box set like you were talking about I will buy one in a heart beat. Will do. I'm working on it over the next few months and putting a PDF together first. The video game company is keeping me pretty dang busy so i may slow my down a bit. Thanks again for playing in my world as well. Its great to hear what people think of it.

Down with retelling the story but not in the middle of the game. It breaks stride for the event.
