Ward Layouts

Curse of the Crimson Throne

3 people marked this as a favorite.

I recently got to look at the Guide of Korvosa, and love that book! In particular, I liked the layout of all the Wards, and how it listed a lot of the different rent costs for houses/apartments/etc. What I missed though, and what it took me a while to find on these boards was where the wards were actually separated.

I finally found a thread in the Pathfinder Chronicles section which outlined all I needed to know, thanks to Cintra Bristol and Mike McArtor. I went through in Photoshop and, using the map from the free CotCT Player's Guide (hopefully there's no problem with me putting that up here) outlined all the different wards.

This was initially done for my players, but I thought that you guys might be able to make use of them too, so here they are.

North Point

If anyone notices something out of place, please let me know. Otherwise, enjoy!

I really appreciate the work you've done here. Thanks!

Any plan to do South or East Shore as well?

Scarab Sages

Neither East Shore or South Shore appear to have any discernible wards. I think the only other location with wards was the Gray, but those were just where different graves were located, and I believe those wards are actually outlined in the book.

Glad you like them. :D

Sovereign Court

This is very cool indeed. The only problem I see is that you have the Three Rings Tavern in Northgate, but it's described in multiple places as being in Five Corners. Is that right?

I got all my information from this thread. According to it:

Cintra Bristol wrote:
North Point: Five Corners runs northeast along Dead Shoanti Way to Jeggare Circle, then east along Northgate Avenue to Sunrise Blvd, then south to the wall and west-northwest along the wall back to Dead Shoanti Way.
Mainshore is the section north of this, within the walls (incl. First Street thru Fifth Street).
Northgate is the area east of Five Corners, including the bit north of Northgate Avenue and southeast of the walls.
Ridgefield is the remaining section of the district, west of Jeggare Circle.

Mike McArtor wrote:
Yes to all. And keep in mind that Jeggare Circle is technically a part of Five Corners. Also, keep in mind that, traditionally, five wards touch it and that it has five sides (although, IIRC, at least one side is very, very short). It's completely possible boundaries have shifted over time, though, and that neither of those origin conditions are true any more. :)

My guess with the Tavern is either the information given is slightly off, and the end of the Ward should be a little more east, or possibly it was close enough to the border that no one really knew. :)

And, as always, whatever the text of the book says is correct and whatever i say on the boards is less correct. When in doubt, fiddle with what I say here to make it fit in with what the text says. Unless the text is wrong, in which case we'll let you know. ;)

Scarab Sages

I did an update on North Point to include the Tavern and still try to follow the roads. If anyone else notices any inconsistencies, please let me know. :)

Karui, I am not sure how I missed this post earlier in the week, but those are FANTASTIC. I'm now reading (more skimming this time) through "Guide to Korvosa" for a third time, psyching myself up to do an index, and am feeling almost at home in the place. This helps make it even clearer in my mind, and will be Aroden-sent for my players! I'll be printing a copy for me and another for them to join the Korvosa map at our game table.

Thank you for sharing.

Dark Archive

Excellent resource and outstanding job! Thank you!

Thank you very much! I so love it when someone else does a job I was planning on needing to do :) Saves me so much time ... and to have it done so nicely :)

Can't wait for my next session to show it off to my players.

Scarab Sages

Glad you all like it! The lack of the ward's defining lines in such a Lawful and Ordered city as Korvosa had bothered me, and when I found the thread where their borders were talked about, I had to make these up to help visualize it better. I've always loved the map portions of Pathfinder, and having the 'wards' laid out helps me see the city much more clearly.

Scarab Sages

KK - great job!

Thanks!

Karui,

The links no longer appear to be working, I was hoping to print these out for my next session, can you re-post or fix?
Thanks for your great work on these, I looked at them last week and they looked excellent.

Scarab Sages

They must have been doing some work on the server, I noticed I had some problems accessing things earlier. It seems to have been a small thing though, and they should work fine now.

Karui - These maps are great, thanks for putting this together!

These maps are great!!

Thank you! :)

Scarab Sages

I know it's an old thread, but I'm just gearing up to run this so I thought I'd resurrect it to say thank you and to bump it up - I do enjoy maps. :)

Scarab Sages

Me too! Hope your game goes well. We're a little ways into "A History of Ashes" ourselves.

The Exchange

Was just going to do this myself. Thanks for saving me some time!

I know this is an old thread, but just wanted to say thanks Karui!

Oh wow. Thanks Karui for still having this up. A lot of player made resources are no longer available online (I know I know I'm late to GM this AP lol). Thanks Laric for necro'ing this thread so I can see it.

*casts raise thread*

This sounds awesome but unfortunately all the links are 404s.

Does anyone have those maps and would be so kind to make them available again?

Your best bet might be to send a direct message. I would expect that he'd have the images around in his archive someplace.

Scarab Sages

Hah, glad to see there's still interest in these ole' things! Thanks to Nullpunkt for alerting me to this thread :) If anyone wants a copy of these, shoot me an email to nethys@archivesofnethys.com and I'll make sure you get them.

Hello everyone! Sorry for necro’ing but I’d really love to use these maps for my campaign but can’t manage to contact Karui via email!

Maybe it’s because of Summer so I’d just try to ask for them here if anyone can help!

Almost certainly lost in the sands of time, unfortunately.

However this book has A LOT of information on the wards that will probably set you right:
