We've got family in town and won't be posting for the rest of December. The first week of January we should be back up and posting, but it might not be consistent until January 6.

"Do you know who on board might be able to do..." Nakoma gestures at the lock, clearly at a loss and having no idea how the things was actually sabotaged. "...that?" She regards the captain seriously. "Seems like a specialized skill set. Though, if they have always intended to cause trouble, they may have kept their skills hidden until now."

"That's been here the whole time?" Nakoma asks the Captain. After a few moments she shakes her head, deciding she doesn't really want to talk to him. Instead of waiting for a response she moves to help Zeke secure the door.

Nakoma gives the captain a glare, clearly unimpressed he had this beast in the hold this whole time and never thought to mention it. She catches her starknife, takes a few steps forward, and hurls it at the girallon again. Guided Star.

Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 7 - 4 = 22
Piercing Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 3 = 8

Nakoma hurries forward and hurls her star knife at the beast grappling Acacius! (Using guided star).

Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 7 - 4 = 10
Piercing Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 4 = 9

But, she totally misses. The starknife spins through the air, magically on its way back to her.

Nakoma hurries down into the hold, drawing her star knife as she goes. Double move.

Nakoma hurries over to the stairs, then hesitates. She takes a quick detour to the kitchen, whips open the door, and finds Graunk bent over a barrel looking for an onion. "Trouble!" she shouts REALLY LOUD at her hard-of-hearing companion. Then she turns, ready to continue rushing to the fight.

Double move and yelling at Grauk.

Nakoma spends her turn hauling in the fishing nets, so it doesn't get lost in the river. Then she moves toward the stairs.

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Nakoma continues fishing, content that nothing has gone horribly wrong yet this morning...

Nakoma heads up for her morning fishing duties, casting the nets into the river.

Survival: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

Nakoma does as she was asked, retiring for the night.

Nakoma's happiness to be back aboard vanishes, replaced by a familiar bitterness. This was far from the first time she was ostracized for reasons out of her control. "I nearly died when your railing gave way. I healed your men, found your horse, fought off --" she stops and purses her lips. "You've made up your mind. Fine. Blame me. I'm used to being a scapegoat."

Nakoma shakes her head, and follows Azen belowdecks, then promptly ensures her things are packed.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

"You look concerned," Nakoma says to the captain as they reboard the boat. "Did something happen?" She glances back at the fortress then looks at the captain seriously. "Did they accost you or your crew?" Then she looks to the river. "Or is it something else?"

Nakoma re-preps the same spells the next day.

Nakoma places her hands on the iron keep and prays at the sight of a miracle, thanking Desna (in Shoanti) for blessing the people who desperately held this river. She hopes she can one day be so lucky, as they were, to be blessed by Mother Moon in their time of greatest need.

A little solemnly, she remembers the people back home who have died of late. The lives of her fellow guards, and neighbours, and companions lost in the battle for Trunau.

With another few words of solemn prayers, she's ready to go.

"Thank you for allowing us entry."

Nakoma raises an eyebrow at their racism. "The crew are good men, not aligned with the orcs of Belkzen. Still, Acacius speaks truth. They know they are not welcome and do not seek entry. Only we do, for a short time."

These are the people care of this sacred place has fallen to..? Such a shame.

"We are passing through, and wanted to pray at the sight of a miracle. May we?"

"Castle Everstand? That place is sacred," Nakoma remarks. "Many generations ago, Sergeant Strom Gauntwood and his remaining soldiers came under attack by many, many orc berserkers. Desperate, and knowing they would not survive the night, they drew a single card from a magical deck of cards. They drew the moon." Nakoma gestures at an obvious tattoo upon her head shaped like a moon. "A blessing from Desna, even if they didn't know it. Sergeant Strom wished Castle Everstand into existence and they survived the onslaught." Nakoma falls silent for a short time. "My people used to tell stories of the place and its origins." She smiles a little sadly. "It was the only foreign fortification they ever bore respect for."

"I would like to see the original castle. I wish to pray at the sight of a miracle brought by Mother Moon."

Nakoma spares a rare smile for Grauk's flamboyant storytelling, before turning her eyes to the horizon. They had a dire mission ahead. Who knows how much time Trunau had left...

Nakoma heads further into the cave, curious if there's anything else of value to be had -- or danger laying in wait...

Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 Passing.

Nakoma twists out of the way of the sticky mucous, catches her starknife, and tosses it right back at the drake! Using guided star again.

Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 1 = 16
Piercing Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 + 3 = 11
Extra Damage if its Evil: 1d6 ⇒ 6

Nakoma steps forward, drawing a second starknife in her off hand, then tosses her glowing starknife at the drake! (using guided star as a swift action).

Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 1 = 20
Good Piercing Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 + 3 = 11
Extra damage if its evil: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Her enchanted starknife will return to her hand at the start of her next turn. The starknife currently in her off hand is masterwork and non-magical.

Nakoma moves deeper into the cave and holds her starknife in hand, channeling Desna's holy power into its blades. Move, then using holy strike on her star knife. For 1 minute it will deal an extra +1d6 damage against evil creature and bypassed DR/good.

Nakoma prays for Desna to light her path, causing her starknife to glow brightly. She holds the weapon out before her and heads inside the cave.

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

Nakoma prays for protection (casting shield of faith on herself, then divine favour). Then she proceeds along the narrow path up to the cave quietly.

Stealth: 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 3 - 1 = 14

Nakoma ensures she has all of her gear, then prepares to disembark.

Nakoma eyes the surrounding wilderness, on edge. "...Fine. If it's quick."

Nope, not me.

From July 25th through until the end of July Zeke and I are going to be busy and very unlikely to post. We've got family coming into town. The week after that I'll be working towards a very important deadline and won't be posting as often as usual. Feel free to bot or skip me as needed. I'll check in when I can.

Nakoma strides over to the mast and begins to ascend to the crow's nest. 10 ft. to the mast and the rest of her turn is climbing.

Climb: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

Nakoma hurries forward. She utters a prayer in Shoanti under her breath. A moment later there's a flash of blinding light surrounding the red drake. Casting burst of radiance. Aiming it so it doesn't affect the sailors around the red drake.

It's blinded for 1d4 ⇒ 2 rounds. If it passes a DC 15 Reflex save it's dazzled for that long instead. If its evil it also takes:
Damage: 5d4 ⇒ (1, 1, 4, 1, 3) = 10

Nakoma hustles towards the sound of the drakes. Double move.

No worries. Take your time.

"We're under attack!" Nakoma exclaims, hurrying up from her seat. She clambers over the benches and up the stairs, arms and hands aching with fatigue from the hours manning the oars. With a hiss of pain and a loud groan she barely manages to get up onto the walkway.

Standing up, then moving.

I rolled previously for her afternoon rowing and got an 18 Str for rowing but a 3 Con.

"Starboard rail gave way," Nakoma replies, gesturing at the broken railing on the ship. "We tumbled in and the crocs got at us." She rubs at one of her few remaining wounds absently. "Bad luck."

As the croc lets go of her Nakoma gasps for breath, whirls on the beast, and stabs the croc right in the eyes.

Realizing it's no longer moving she slips the hope knife into its sheath, paddles over to the ship, and reaches a hand up for someone to help her up into the boat.

Question for clarity: Nakoma is underwater? Or can she snatch gasps of air here and there? Just curious if she's holding her breath.

Nakoma pushes more healing energy into her wounds, (fervour as a swift action)

Healing: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Then gives up on trying to escape. Instead she grabs feebly at Rodric's hopeknife around her neck and tries to stab the croc with it.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 6 - 2 - 2 = 21 (Includes a -2 for being grappled and a -2 for the Dex penalty since I use dexterity to attack).
Piercing Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Confirming a Critical: 1d20 + 6 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 6 - 2 - 2 = 9
Extra Piercing Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

But she can barely move through the pain!

Then she tries to squirm out of the croc's mouth...

Rowing (Con): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Nakoma tries her best to all the nets and bring in enough fish to feed everyone.

But she's a bit rusty... After lunch she settles in at the oars.

Strength: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Constitution: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

(I have to say I was expecting the opposite outcome there...)

Nakoma goes fishing at the start of the day, then rowing after lunch.

Despite the crowded conditions in the bunk room, Nakoma's not bothered. She'd spent her whole life living amongst her tribe, and then in the soldier's barracks of Trunau. She wasn't used to privacy.

At the sound of the coxswain shouting Nakoma quickly rises.

Can we use survival to fish? And is she allowed to pray for her spells?
