I trust everyone has been including any stat bonus on their ability attempts?

Didn't include anything -- thought it was a raw d20 roll. Doubt it changes anything, though.

Go with the spear, the militia would have concentrated on your weapon of choice.

You have succeeded in Detect Evil (perhaps thanks again to the dryads in some small way) and also got the Simple Weapon. Good stuff. Since I already gave you Handle Animal for the sterling work with the hound, please choose a different skill that you didn't get. Then if you wish to try it again next time you'll get a +2 bonus to attempt it.

Ok. Ride seems the obvious next choice. All updated, I think.

M Human Paladin 0

Background updated. Rolls below.

Not sure whether Weapon Prof should have been dagger (as planned) or spear (as played).

STR, WIS, CHA (1d4 1=2, 1d4 1=3, 1d4 1=5)

Handle Animal, Detect Evil, Weapon prof (1d20=8, 1d20=15, 1d20=20)

"Ummm." Taya blushes wildly at all the attention.

"I don't know what I did Nagy - I only wish I did. What did you say to the dog - that was pretty awesome too. Anyway..." Pulling herself together.

"Yeah, it was, wasn't it?" Nagy sports a huge grin as he goes to tie the dog.

M Human Paladin 0

Two bad (my rolling continues):

9) Lost in the woods for a week – eventually returned by a wood elf, warned to use common sense or torn apart by an owlbear next time.
20) Cruel children hide your clothes whiel swimming in Tadpole Pond. Made a laughing stock as you return home naked.

(Oh, look, I rolled high!)

M Human Paladin 0

Nagy looks triumphant, then he looks at Taya adoringly. "You -- you were awesome, Taya! How did you do that? Man, if he'd hit you . . ."

Taya Risper wrote:
"Nagy, can you tie that dog up again and we need to get Darin to Morvummm's. I don't know how badly I hurt him.... I really wish I hadn't done that." her voice trails off.

"Right." Nagy suits action to words.

M Human Paladin 0

Nagy continues concentrating on controlling the dog, watching Taya and Jerrid to see what will happen next.

Delay

M Human Paladin 0

Nagy's jaw drops at seeing his sister's effect.

M Human Paladin 0

Nagy bursts through the stall gate and, seeing the hound about to make things much worse, changes his plans.

Ignoring the villains he'd come to fight, he does his best to calm the dog and defuse what might turn from fistfights into a lethal situation.

IC is down, so please roll for me, CHA -1 of course

Nagy on the first loft level next.

I thought I was on ground floor? One climb up and two descend messages on the previous page.

M Human Paladin 0

Nagy descends the ladder as rapidly as he can.

Climb (if needed)(1d20-1=0) And Nagy's hot streak continues!

Jerrid Kinslarn wrote:
Nagy needs to roll initiative to see if Taya goes first. She already beats Finwe.

Init (1d20-1=2) Believe that answers that

M Human Paladin 0

Nagy tries to quietly slip down to follow his sister, but is over-hurried.

Move Silently (1d20-1=7)

Jerrid Kinslarn wrote:
I have Nagy and Finwe above the gang and Asfer. Nagy and Korgoth above them. Daetha, Vladimir and the hound roughly ten foot from the barn's corner where they can see the window and front doors.

That first Nagy should be Taya, yes?

M Human Paladin 0

Nagy, with some difficulty, joins the others in the loft.

Climb (including rope bonus) (1d20 1=10)

M Human Paladin 0

"C'mon, Korgoth, I'll give you a boost," Nagy offers quietly.

Climb assist Korgoth (1d20-1=14)

M Human Paladin 0
Taya Risper wrote:
"Maybe we can surprise them a bit. Where's that window? I'll need help." She whirls round and heads to the back of the barn.

Listen (1d20-1=13)

Nagy's face darkens. "Come on, Taya, I'll boost you up."

Zagyg's Egg wrote:
However as Taya greets Orick and Daetha, a large hound comes out of the other barn opposite the red one. He is roped to the wall and stops when he notices the group.

Not wanting the dog to alert the gang, Nagy slowly and calmly approaches it, speaking nonsense to it softly to keep it calm.

Handle Animal can't be used untrained, so . . . Charisma (1d20-1=11)

"Nagy, you should go home." Taya makes this suggestion without much hope.

"No [i]way![/o] I can help!"

Nagy plans to rely on his fists.

"I think that we need to hurry though. I don't like the thought of Asfer in Jeridd's clutches. He's a snake, that one."

Nagy looked ready to go with Korgoth before Taya intervened. "Yeah, we'll take care of Seddani. Then we'll take care of Jerrid. I never did like him."

M Human Paladin 0

Nagy/Taya/Korgoth

Taya wrote:

Anger swells up and to her horrors she feels power stirring uncontrollably. Still furious, but knowing she needs to get away, she runs after Korgoth

"Wait - please. He's a vile man, but you're not. He shouldn't treat you like that. One day you'll prove how good you are to everyone. You will, I promise."

Nagy glares at Vulart, then runs after Taya and Korgoth. "Korgoth, Vulart's a jackass." Nagy glances guiltily at Taya, then continues. "Don't listen to him."

At the market with Rispers/Darkhand

While the merchant is getting down the half hasp, Korgoth's eyes wander over to the mail-clad speaker again.

"Hey Nagy, Taya ... have you ever seen that man before? I wonder what he is talking about?"

"No, I don't think so," Nagy answers, his eyes still drawn to the halfling perfomers.

Finally, realizing something else is going on, he starts paying attention to the speaker.

M Human Paladin 0
Taya Risper wrote:
"Something to clean hooves - well that sounds like a hoof-pick to me, doesn't it Nagy?"

Nagy nods, not really paying attention. "Do you think we can go see those halflings up close?" After a moment, he adds, virtuously, "After we buy the beechnuts."

M Human Paladin 0
Taya Risper wrote:

"Nagy, do you and Taya wish to fetch some beech nuts from Vulart for me? He should be at the market today and there is no militia training until later, is there?"

She thinks on, "look I can go if you would rather fix the Long fences."

Taya/Nagy Risper

"Of course we'll go mother. It'll be good to visit the market. Nagy - will you to come on an errand with me?"

Nagy, who had been lost in thought, looks up, startled. "Oh, of course, mother. Yes, Taya, I'll come."

Vladimir blows his hair away from his good eye and reaches a hand up to Nagy hoping he will help him up. "After all like Old Domar says we are in this together, I one of fails we both fail."

Nagy glares at Vladimir, but then softens. "Ok, we'll practice. And show those guys." He helps Vladimir up. "But don't you get me kicked out of training!"

It's really hard for me to judge what Nagy's personality and outlook will be as an adult until we play through the events. Mechanically, straight-up Paladin.

Vladimir's face goes a deep crimson, "well its harder than it looks he states, plus I have never done that before.... The roars of laughter from the militia men at the two inept boys is very embarassing. "I guess we can't be perfect at everything" Vladimir whispers at young Nagy.

Nagy, looking furious, shoots back, "Or some of us at anything!" It is clear he is not referring to himself.

Though he is stronger than most boys his age, the exercise with the spear quickly has Nagy wishing that, indeed, his arms would fall off. He pushes through, though, and, when dismissed, picks up his pack and heads for home, only blowing on his blisters when he is well away from the training field.

"This can be thrown or used with a shield. You are on the small size for the longspears that we mostly use, so try this."

He points at a straw bale stood on its side. "Don't worry the straw is old and wont fight back."

Laughter comes from the other villagers at this oft-told joke.

"Yes, sir," Nagy answers as he accepts the spear. He feels his cheeks burn when the men laugh, but steadfastly does not look at them, rather focusing on the the bale. He runs a couple of steps, cocking his arm back, and launches the spear, which flies only a few yards before skittering along the ground in the general direction of the bale.

Spear attack (1d20-5=2)

Nagy, feeling humiliated, steps forward to pick up the spear for another throw, still avoiding looking at the militiamen.
