Now that she has located Lord Borak for the Angel's crew, Moves in Shadows continues to look thru his personal files for *any* information about an antidote :

Hacking: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Follow up roll: 1d6 ⇒ 2

And she finds...???

I just gotta say, that LONG list of grenade throwing made me LOL, literally. I was just imagining how Atlas was going to handle all those missed rolls (can you say "blow up your comrades"?) when GCU jumped in and solved the problem.

Also, you probably want Borak *alive* so that he can tell you where the antidote is...

Also also, shooting projectile weapons in a space station surrounded by vacuum is probably a VERY BAD idea, in case you miss and puncture the shell. Not to mention the damage a stray bullet could do to the engines.

ALL - FWIW, I typically skim the vast amounts of posts, just trying to get the big picture, rather than keep track of every PC's status. Then I jump in when I think I can do some good.

And Zanbabe - that's one of the reasons I created MiS as already on the station (I *think* she was the first non-infected PC)...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

"Angel crew members : Lord Borak is in a storage room VERY close to the engines. He may be with Commander Gurden. I'm attempting to locate Commander Gurden via the station's systems now."

She hacks into the station's system as she has many times before, and attempts to locate Commander Gurden via his communication badge, which constantly sends its location to the main computer in case someone needs to be located quickly :

Hacking: 1d6 ⇒ 5

YES! So, where is Commander Gurden right now?

Is this Borak's device that the beeping is all about? If so, YES, I want to know its location! If it has a "GPS" system for within the station, I'd like its current location. If it doesn't, then I'll turn on the camera and mic (and record them as well).

Altho I haven't seen a "Round N" post in a while, I'm assuming that a "Player Status" update counts as a new round. So...

Moves in Shadows tries again to hack the bartender's hologram in order to find the last reference to Lord Borak's whereabouts :

Hacking: 1d6 ⇒ 2

And she announces over the Angel's comms "Sorry guys, this hologram's code is all kinds of twisted up, it's taking me some time to get thru it all..."

Huh? What? When did the owner of the bar suddenly become a hologram?

Atlas, if you're *not* ok with this, just ignore the following...

Frank Stratton wrote:
Babydoll, talking to it didn't work. Can you hack the hologram to find out where Lord Ballsack is?

Assuming that he's referring to her, Moves in Shadows shifts her attention to Thirsty's bar and grill. Getting into their holoprograms sector, she sifts around thru Retzack's files to find the latest reference to Lord Borak's whereabouts :

Hacking: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Broadcasting over the Angel's link to everyone, she says "Negative on locating Lord Borak, I need more time..."

Second roll must also be a 4+ to get candy out of the pinata....I reserve the right to change that back if your way is betterer.

Well, that reduces the chances of a "major" success from 33% (sum of the die rolls is 8 or better) to 25% (each die roll is a 4 or better). Meh. Probably not worth griping too much over, it's less than a 10% difference. Which do you want us to have, a *1/3* chance of major success or a *1/4* chance?

Thanks, I'm too used to Savage Worlds, where you only re-roll if the die comes up with its highest value (a 6 on a d6)! This re-roll on a Success is going to take some getting used to...

Hacking: 1d6 ⇒ 3

For a total of 8!!!

Moves in Shadows tries to access the SPS ("Station Positioning System") on Borak's tablet and overlays it with a 3-d map of the station :

Hacking: 1d6 ⇒ 5

and finds that he is now...where?

After obtaining the info, she sends over her commlink to the Angel, which should be heard by anyone within earshot of an on-board speaker, OR who has an ear-bud or built-in radio receiver "Attention, Angel crew members! This is your on-station friend. I have just found out that Lord Borak is no longer in the station's cargo hold, but is now at (to be filled in by the GM)!"

Going on the assumption that "Ion Pills" might be the antidote (my impression from what you said is that they are a separate item, distinctly different from the nanovirus, yes?), Moves in Shadows tries to pinpoint their location :

Hacking & Tracking: 1d6 ⇒ 4

And finds that they are currently...???

With AA otherwise occupied, Moves in Shadows continues to look for files :

Hacking: 1d6 ⇒ 5 Yes!
[dice="Ace"!]d6[/dice] = 8 Double yes!

Clarification : if the *second* dice is also a 4 or better, do we get to re-roll it, too?

So that's two Successes, for a total of 4/4 rolls to find important files.

What'd I find? Huh? Huh?

Moves in Shadows switches from aggressive to pleading/seductive : "AA, *please* let me stay in and get that file, Borak will have my a** if I don't get it for him post-haste. And if you do, maybe I'll let *you* have my a**..."

Persuasion: 1d6 ⇒ 6

With that good of a roll (can we Ace yet? :), do I need to make a boot-out check?

EVERYONE - I wasn't clear about my last post - I should have said that Lord Borak was recently in the cargo hold of the station! Sorry for any confusion...
I'm assuming Faith and Dr. Rix thought I meant the cargo hold of the ship, seeing that as far as I know, they're both still on it. So their search results are moot.

Moves in Shadows tries to stall Aardvark : AA - what are *you* doing in Mr. Borak's personal comm? I have his ok to be here, I'm looking for an old contract he needs ASAP. I'm going to notify him immediately unless you leave this instant! Debbie"

Atlas, I'm assuming you *meant* to type Debbie, and not Denise, which is MiS's false alias. I'm assuming Debbie is Borak's personal assistant, or something similar. And if you meant Denise, well...too late. :)

Switching to her still-active connection to Angel's comms (which should reach everyone within ear-shot of a speaker, or with an ear-bud or communicator badge), she says Attention, crew of the Angel - Borak was in the cargo hold just a few minutes ago, he may still be there..."

Moves in Shadows looks at Gorn with a sincere look of disappointment on her face. "Why I just love Reglarian Ale! But I've got to find Borak, and wait until he's free to make the comms call to my friend, and then broker the deal between them...I'll tell you what, let's try for tomorrow instead." And she reaches over to squeeze one of his large biceps, and leaves.

Going back to her nest, she tries to hack Borak's tablet/cell phone using the station's wireless computer systems :

Hacking: 1d6 ⇒ 6

And she's in! She looks around for any mention of nanoviruses or anything related.

Moves in Shadows looks at Gorn, flashes a smile and bats her eyelashes at him, and says smoothly "I got a friend that wants to do some business with him, and since I'm here I told her I'd scout him out and do the over-the-comms introductions, is all. I'd be ever so grateful if you could help me..."

Persuasion: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 Yes!!!

Moves in Shadows (that's what she thinks of herself as, but when she introduces herself to other people, she uses the name Denise Nickols, for which she has *all* the appropriate documentation) leaves her little cubbyhole of an "office" to go over to the General Store. "Hey, Gorn, you ever heard of a man named Borak? Any idea where I might find him?"

I'm assuming no roll is needed, since you said he had a crush on me.

Moves in Shadows was working on a contract which involved (at the moment) monitoring communications into and out of the station. Her ears pricked up at the conversation between the station and the Sweet Doomed Angel, and she quickly followed the digital comm signal back to the SDA, and hacked into its systems

Hacking: 1d6 ⇒ 4

allowing her to hear all the radioed conversations going on. She also heard Borak's transmission, and involuntarily let out a gasp of horror at the ramifications of Borak's actions. While normally she didn't do anything for free, she could not let all those people die, like...before.

Setting her equipment to transmit, she tight-beamed a signal to every open comms in the SDA : "Attention, crew of the Angel. This is...a friend, who is currently on-board the station. The woman who said you should not attempt to come on-board is correct. Firstly, the station's weapon systems are active, and pointed at you. Secondly, you *cannot* risk bringing the infection in here.

What can I do to help you from the inside?"

While waiting for an answer, she attempts to hack the station's computer to see if she can pinpoint Borak's location :

Hacking: 1d6 ⇒ 1

But in her haste and concern, she forgets her training.
