The links to the chat were sent last night (I'm GMing so it may have been GMs only) and have been posted on the Pathfinder Society Online Collective forum on Google on this convention's thread.

It inspires me to hear of somone so dedicated to making sure everyone had such a good time. He is an example to follow. My heart goes out to his community of gamers. Sending good thoughts New Jersey's way.

Sczarni

tldr: If you're in southern New Mexico, send me a message!

Hey there. My name is Jeremy and I'm the Venture Captain of southern New Mexico. My current city is Artesia, however I want to do anything I can to grow the hobby of RPG for our little part of the world. After all, adventurers come from all over, not just in Absalom.

If you are looking for a table in the region or are a GM considering using Pathfinder Society, I encourage you to send me a message. I'll see what I can do to find a way for you to play. If you find enough interest, perhaps I can find a way to go to your city and GM a table myself.

I currently have one regular group going in Artesia that meets every 3rd Saturday of the month. If you can make that, let me know and I'll see if there's space available.

I noticed a lot of people in El Paso who are interested in Pathfinder. I'd love to get some organized play going on there (although Las Cruces would be better for me) if possible.

Even if you already have a game going, let me know so I know you exist. That way if a major event or convention comes through, I know if there is a PFS scene in the area.

Sczarni

Hey there. Are you familiar with Pathfinder Society Organized Play? It's basically a global campaign shared by lots of people around the world. Characters are transferrable from one sanctioned table to another, so you can level through different events wherever in the world you find them.

There is a Venture Captain in Albuquerque named Matt. He may be able to get you started if you get into contact with him. Here's Albuquerque's Society Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/pfsnm

Sczarni

Thanks Mike and thanks everyone. I've been playing pathfinder for a few years now and after I started GMing I found I enjoyed that quite a bit more than playing. Seeing players discover the secrets that you're already in on is so much fun. There wasn't much RPG going on in my area as I grew up so I hope to share the amazing hobby with a new generation of nerds.

For now I'm using a group facebook page to coordinate events in my area. https://www.facebook.com/groups/671505386260094/

As for the secret of UFOs, I'd be happy to share. You see, ever since the beginning of-- (Oh hello, who are you? That's a nice suit. What are you doing with that. Oh nooo-)

Sczarni

So my players are stuck on Squibbs for 8 days and after 3 days have already burned through all the events. They do have about 2000xp (each) to make up from skipping a large part of the Bonewreck Island initial encounters. They are really concerned about the drought at Rickety's and I was wondering if you guys could give me some ideas as to what (within the rules) could cause this, such as spells, or otherwise different creatures.

They even got a lot of information out of the water naga before killing her, that the various naga tribes have collapsed as their territories have shrunk from drying up rivers. And even though Rickety has a deal with the naga, Selissa was willing to put it in jeapordy in order to eat, rather than die.

I had trouble coming up with a way for lvl 4 PCs to solve a natural drought. Even calling someone in may be questionable, as non-pirates would not be welcome, especially if you had no business with Rickety.

I saw that river module, but I'm thinking a 32 page module may be a bit too much. Maybe a set of 3 or 4 encounters and a nice piece of loot at the end.

Specifically, the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play. Since Paizo doesn't offer this as a hard copy, could we go to our local print store and have it bound up? If so, is there some kind of copyright release Paizo put out for this?

Sczarni

My name is Jeremy, but most people call me Mort. I am looking to jump start Pathfinder Society in our part of the state. To that end, I'm willing to do whatever it takes. What I need right now are people interested in either in being players and/or GMs.

I reside in Artesia, which is pretty central to all the cities listed above. I currently do regular PFS games at Darklight Games here in town on Saturdays, although as September rolls around, I want to spread those meetups out a bit and see if I can't branch out to other parts of the state.

Do you have a few buddies interested in getting into Pathfinder Society? Let me know. If you are close, I can definitely look into setting up a monthly meetup. At the very least, we can set up a large online group consisting of just regional players, that way we have a solid tight-knit local group that can come together for conventions or small events at your local games stores. (Maybe even with some of that sweet sweet Paizo prize support if we can get enough interest.)

So, get into contact with me. Message me on Paizo. I check that basically every day. Or stop by my facebook pages. Either look up Artesia Tabletop Gamers or Southeastern New Mexico Pathfinder Lodge.

1. What city do you live in?

2. Are you interested in playing or GMing or both?

3. Do you know anyone else in your area who could commit to a monthly PFS game?

4. Are you open to the idea of playing PFS online through Roll20.net?

5. Do you know of any gaming conventions in your area in which RPGs are played?

6. What local games stores are in your area? And is there currently a PFS scene that you know of?

7. Whatever else you care to share about yourself.

Note: In regard to online play, I am specifically looking for regional players. This is not to try to leave anyone out, but instead an attempt to grow the PFS communities in my region. As such, priority will be given to those people living in the towns mentioned, and with a preference leaning toward in-person meetups if it is feasible.

I am running this AP for some friends next month and had a very similar idea. This is what I came up with.

The campaign will be online, although I don't see why this can't work for an in-person campaign also. I wrote my own Pathfinder persona into the town. I did this by setting up an e-mail list using google groups. A few days before each session, I will email the players and recap what happened in the last session and include a short article from the "Sandpoint Herald" which is a mockery of journalism as far as local news publications go.

The Sandpoint Herald is a local newsprinting publication run by a wirey half-orc named Mortikar. It is a one-man operation from his home on Gull St. Larger daily publications from nearby Magnimar and Riddleport scoff at Mortikar's 2-bit operation, saying he can never keep the tone of his printings on track, not to mention his poor grasp of the Common language, very irregular printings, and high price for each bi-weekly issue.

Mortikar is quite humble about his business prowess, or lack thereof, but do not question his journalistic integrity, lest you find yourself the target of his next smear campaign, which seem to be the only thing that sells these days. He writes about important events, local rumors, notable figures, or simple rants about the horrible noise local workers at the Glassworks tend to make outside of his home business when on their lunch breaks.

Additionally, the email will include a question for the PC's characters. Perhaps something like "What did you dream about last night?" or "How do you feel about the way Lonjiku Kaijitsu treats his daughter?" The PCs only need answer the question with one or two sentences. As a reward for participating, they receive neat in-game rewards. Maybe a single free reroll on anything during that session. I got this idea from a GMing guide on the interwebs somewhere.

Also, the email list functions as a reminder for the next session and an RSVP system to know who's coming and who can't make it that week.

Recruitment closed: Accepting alternates.

Sczarni

Headphones are required. Advertising on other sites. First come first served.

GM has Fantasy Grounds Ultimate license. Players may use a free trial license of FG to play.

Sczarni

I have a game starting very soon and could take one more person if anyone wants to join. Super short notice, I'm sorry. I have enough people to run it but just in case someone happens to be wanting something right now, come join in. This module is for lvl 1 characters.

Fantasy Grounds 2. Download the software, you only need a demo license to play, so don't pay for anything.

Team Speak 3 for coms. Must have a headset with microphone.

This module may take 2 sessions to complete, please be willing to meet up again in 2 weeks.

This is also an opportunity for you to join a regular group that meets up every other Sunday at this time. Let me know as soon as possible so we can start getting you imported before game time.

Sczarni

Just keeping you guys updated on the state of this group and it's recruitment. I still have yet to hear from about half of the original 8.

If we are going to get this going soon we need to know who's in the group. So I'm going to open recruitment again and PM everyone who has responded thus far. The first people to respond will be in the group. I'd love to give everyone lots of time to respond, but as it takes so much time to get a scenario ready on a VTT, we need to move forward now.

The confirmed meetup time will be:

Sundays at 4PM Eastern Time
Twice a month
First meetup: Nov 10 (Hopefully)

We will not get started this weekend as it's Fantasy Grounds Con. I encourage everyone to Google that and sign up for a table if there are any open. Hopefully, if we have enough confirmed people by then, we will start the following week.

Please check your PMs regularly so you aren't late on the call to action.

Sczarni

Click my name and the new page will open up, showing something that says "Private Message" or something.

Or the envelope at the top of the screen next to your name.

It's possible you have your PMs turned off, as there is no option for me to PM you. I'm afraid I can't help you in that case.

Sczarni

Cool guys, I'll let you know if we can fit you in. I haven't heard back from everyone yet, but I'm going to give them a few more days. With the VTT conventions for the next 2 weekends, its unlikely we will have our first meetup until next month.

Sczarni

1. Mortikar (GM)
2. Shatner's Comma
3. A.J.
4. Gypsy King (GM)
5. Ashe
6. silverace99 (possible GM)
7. Garion
8. Evan M

This will give us a max table of 7 players and 1 GM. And leaves room for one or two people to miss every now and then and not hold up the entire group.

If you still have interest, let me know. These people have priority but as we confirm meeting times and such, slots may open up.

Sczarni

Thanks everyone for responding. So, it's looking like Sundays are pretty open for most people who responded. I'm thinking we can set up a bi-weekly (I think I said bi-monthly before, but I mean twice a month :P) group on Sunday at around 4PM Eastern Daylight (GMT -4). How does that time work for people?

1. Mortikar (GM)
2. Shatner's Comma
3. A.J.
4. Gypsy King (GM)
5. Ashe
6. silverace99 (possible GM)
7. Garion

That looks like a really solid group. We can definitely accept one more, and if anyone expresses an interest after that, they can fill in if someone decides they can't make it anymore. Or they can jump in when someone is absent if they are okay with the uncertainty.

Anyway, if you guys want to send me an email or some other contact information (I tend to use Skype when I play online) please private message me here with that.

If you can get a headset with a microphone to play to eliminate echoing for people, that would be fantastic. There are cheap ones available.

If you are new to VTT gaming, don't worry, its very simple. Usually it's just a lot of work for the GM.

I do have the module "Crypt of the Everflame" ready to go. This will take our characters straight from level 1 to 2, and takes about 2 sessions to complete (roughly 8 hours). Let me know if you have already done this module and we can figure something else out.

Sczarni

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The main objective for me being to get to some high level content at some point. It's so difficult to do with pugs, because, by it's nature the highest levels you tend to see are about 5's or 9's without a main group.

So I'd like to propose organizing a group of people who can meet pretty regularly and let's just see how high our little group can get.

I am a very new GM, only have 4 tables of PFS credit under my belt, and a fairly new player as well with about a dozen games played. But I'm eager to learn and have fun, which is what this whole thing is about.

Ideally, I'd like to have one other GM in the group, both to help me grow as GM with some useful feedback, as well as alternate so I can play as well. Or two or three or more GMs!

I'd hate to hammer out the details too much until we get some people together and see what works for everyone. (As far as what the limit of players are, if there will be alternates, etc, etc,). So let's just get an interest check first.

I can do anytime Friday nights (American nights) or all day most Saturday's and Sundays. My most consistently available time to meet up would be Sunday afternoons. I am familiar with Roll20, but would prefer to GM on Fantasy Grounds (no one would have to pay to play with my version of FG). You as a GM may suggest a different VTT. That's fine as long as it's free for the players, we can make it work.

So, let me know what you think below. Tell me:

1. Are you available to play during the weekends?
2. What VTTs are you familiar with?
3. What is your most consistently available time slot?
4. Can you consistently make a bi-monthly meetup?
5. Are you willing to GM? (GMing not required)

New players are definitely welcome and encouraged! The main requirement is being able to meet regularly.

Sczarni

I signed up on your site. I have played about a dozen PFS games and GM'd 4 tables. I hope to find a place to expand my GMing experience and also get to play a few games :)

Sczarni

It's possible, but I'd have to check the boards, which would be less frequent than checking FB for me. Like right now :) Do you have a PFS character and a mic and skype and everything else mentioned?

Sczarni

Very short notice, I'm sorry. But I need one, and possibly two pick-up player(s) for my online society group this weekend.

Some things to consider:

<--This is Designed for lvl 1 characters. I may make an exception for a lvl 2 character, but I'd prefer lvl 1's -->

1. Crypt of the Everflame is a 2-3 session adventure module. That means you will not get a chronicle sheet until you have finished the entire module. But it is worth more experience, prestige, and gold than a normal season scenario.

2. So, be prepared to commit to this group for at least until the module is completed. I plan on doing it every weekend until it is finished, depending on when all the players can meet up again.

3. I'm a relatively new player and GM. This means I am still getting a grasp on all the rules. If I say something that is contradictory to actual rules, kindly correct me. However, as GM, if there is a question and we cannot quickly find the answer, I reserve the right to make a judgement on the spot.

4. You must have a microphone and Skype. Please test to make sure this is working properly beforehand.

5. Of course, be familiar with what is expected of you as a player within the realm of Society play. Griefing and deliberately (or not so deliberately) trying to make the experience bad for another player will not be tolerated. A beautiful new guide to society play is available free to download. http://paizo.com/products/btpy84k4

6. Your chronicle sheet will be emailed to you to print and fill out, however this will be delayed until I can use the scanner at work. Most likely the following weekday.

7. Still with us? Go to our facebook page to express your interest, as this post will likely be on different websites. The quickest way to be accepted is to post on the facebook page. Also to learn about more opportunities for online PFS play with Artesia Tabletop Gamers. www.facebook.com/ArtesiaTabletopGamers

Sczarni

I have been building a gaming group locally and just realized we can play sanctioned Pathfinder at home. So...

We have a solid group of gaming buddies, some of whom are interested in Pathfinder play. We are in pretty desperate need for a regular 4th right now, so if you happen to be in the area, we tend to meet up on Fridays at least once a month (although I'm trying to push for 2 meetups a month, one for RPGs, one for board games.)

So if you are around, I hope this message finds you. Give me a message here, or PM me, or look for my group on FB ArtesiaTabletopGamers.

A side note, if anyone happens to want to get together in Roswell, I am game to travel there on occasion and host PFS scenarios. Thanks!

Sczarni

Hello. I decided to make a post here because there has been some interest over the years for a few gamers to meet up for some tabletop action, but it appears everyone seems to miss each other. Right now there is a Pathfinder group starting up and we need one or two more to join before we can begin. To find more information, Google "meetup.com Roswell D20 Group" I am not the GM of this group, just trying to get the word out there.

Also, I am trying to start a small circle of gamers to play a variety of tabletop card and board games in Artesia. These can include things games like Munchkin, Pandemic, Elder Sign, and others. You can contact me by finding our Facebook page under "Artesia Tabletop Gamers"

You can try to respond here or send me a PM, but it appears you don't get email notifications when you get messages on this site, unless I need to enable it. I'll check again. It also may be due to this account restriction until you have 10 posts, who knows? Anyway, hope to hear from you soon!
